First, let me say that I have horrible anxiety regarding dentist visits. As a result, I go in as infrequently as possible. When I do go in, I’m all but I’m tears from the fierce anxiety. I had been a long time patient of Dr. Trexal (over 25 years) & can say that he couldn’t have selected a better professional to take over his practice. Dr. Lau’s staff was fabulous about getting me in to see the doctor right away, as I was experiencing a fair amount of pain. Dr. Lau was incredibly understanding & ever so gentle. I can honestly say that she did not hurt me at all even though I was already in a decent amount of pain & just drinking beverages caused severe discomfort & pain. She provided a comprehensive exam & X-rays for me today. She was able to determine that my pain will best be treated by my rheumatologist as I do not have cavities, an abscess or gum infection. I’ve seen dentists in the past who either did not believe or did not understand how entwined my autoimmune disease is with my oral health. Dr. Lau is an exception to this trend. She was well educated about it & very compassionate with me as well. As a result of her examination, she provided me with an anti inflammatory oral rinse & peace of mind knowing it’s not an infection. I highly recommend Dr. Lau for several reasons. 1. Well educated 2. Gentle 3. Compassionate 4. Exceedingly clean office 5. Very technology friendly 6. Broad range of services offered I will be back, as will my family.

The office staff is always very welcoming. The doctor is the very best with her small hands, beautiful smile and when she has to give Novocain you don’t even know she is doing it. The hygienists are very good, very personable and very gentle. I have already recommended Dr. Lau’s office to a lady at my bank, in La Mesa. I drive from Sun City , just above Temecula, a 70-80 mile drive one way because I think they and their services are that good.

As a long time La Mesa resident and patient of Dr. Donald J. Trexel I was sad to see him retire! However, I am now SO PLEASED with the services and care provided by Dr. Vi Lau and her staff. From a simple cleaning to repairing and replacing crowns, I have had wonderful experiences in her office and she has an expert staff that exudes professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent care. Dr. Lau shows great care with her patients and made me feel super comfortable throughout the procedures I have had done in her office. Like commenters below, her enthusiasm and smile are so welcoming. I highly recommend Dr. Lau for any dental procedure you may need! I would give more stars if possible!!

I just left Dr. Lau’s office and had such an amazing experience that I felt the need to write this review.  My experience was positive from the minute I walked through the door.  I was immediately greeted with a warm smile and all my questions & concerns were immediate addressed.  Dr. Lau and her staff took the time to answer my questions and made me feel comfortable and cared for.  This is especially important to me since I had such terrible experiences with aggressive and insensitive dentists as a child.  I know it sounds weird, but I’m actually looking forward to my next visit.

I will preface this review by saying since I was a kid I’ve always hated the dentist. I’ve had a few bad experiences making it hard for me to work up the courage to go, however, Dr. Lau and the entire Love Your Smile staff are incredible. Not only very they very friendly the moment I walked in, but went above and beyond to make it a pleasant experience by explaining exactly what they were doing when working on me, and why certain things were being done. My first experience at Love Your Smile Dentistry was a pleasant one, and I will definitely be back!

I have been a patient at this office since I was a child. Though I loved seeing Dr. Trexel and was sorry to see him retire Dr. Lau is just as great a doctor. She is very kind and gentle. Very knowledgeable. She makes you feel very comfortable and always makes you feel like your concerns are very important. Last visit I saw a new Dr. And she was just as great. I liked her very much also. Staff is wonderful. I would recommend this office to anyone who is looking for a new dentist. When Dr. Vi Lau took over the practice of Dr. Trexel, my dentist of 12 years, I did not know what to expect. However, after my first visit, it was clear that my dental experiences were going to be good ones. Her whole staff, including the hygienists, are top notch. I can always look forward to a warm greeting and a smile when I arrive. Dr. Lau is very meticulous about her work and has even called me at home a couple of times to make sure that I was alright. Going to the dentist now will be a pleasant experience.

I started going to Dr. Lau about 10 years ago when I got Invisalign and she has been my dentist ever since. She is so patient and gentle, always talking me through the procedures and making sure all my questions are answered. You can tell she is passionate about being a dentist and I am always at ease when in her care. The last time I went to her office was for a last minute cleaning and Dr. Lau and her staff were able to accommodate me. My teeth are very sensitive and the hygienist was very gentle. The staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming. The office is homey, comfortable, and clean.

Dr. Lau and her team are amazing! The care in this office doesn’t stop.The receptionists are always enthusiastic and greet me with a smile. Fortunately I haven’t needed much work, but the work I HAVE HAD done was painless and I’m a total needle-phobic. My daughter loves the dentist and is so excited for her visit. Mind you, she’s 2.5yrs old. This office is FABULOUS and I would recommend it to anyone. We will be losing our insurance soon, but they assured me that my dental care is more important and finances can be worked out. Definitely the utmost genuine and kind hearted office I have ever been to.

I started seeing Dr Vi Lau when she was working in Chula Vista and immediately felt like I became part of her family. She is very patient attenttive and does a great job of communicating to me any dental care that I may require now and in the future, no surprises.When she opened her own practice in La Mesa I followed her there. She has a staff of assistants that are very efficient and Dr Lau brought the “We are family” attitude with her. Everyone there is helpful and friendly. I now never need worry about my teeth.

I came to see Dr. Lau after breaking a tooth. Her staff scheduled an appointment right away and I saw her the next day. Dr. Lau has been my dentist for a year and she always takes care of me. She takes her time and explains everything with detail as she is working on your teeth. She is very gentle and makes sure you feel comfortable during the visit. Her staff is very nice and friendly. Everyone that works there is always happy to see you 🙂

Dr. Vi Lau is an absolutely wonderful dentist. She is kind, gentle, very conscientious and very skillful; she always makes me feel like I am her only patient. I especially enjoy her energy, enthusiasm, and her infectious smile! She is patient and thorough when explaining treatment options, what needs to be done and why, options, etc. When doing procedures, she is quick and proficient, and always very mindful of my comfort level. Her office staff is excellent as well: scheduling appointments, cleanings, x-rays are all handled well by her cheerful crew. As a retired physician, I am picky with health care providers, and Dr. Lau is the best of the best! Update 23 July 2019: In for cleaning by Nicole, exam by Dr. Lau, and they’re still the best!! Update 26 May 2020: My first appointment since COVID-19: I went in today for a cleaning by Nicole and exam by Dr. Lau. I was really impressed with all the COVID safeguards the office has implemented. As an over-70 with risk factors and a medical background, I am taking this virus very seriously, and so, obviously, is Dr. Lau and her staff: I felt safe and totally comfortable. And as always, the care was excellent, and everyone friendly and personable despite. Still the best!

As a kid I didn’t take good care of my teeth and am paying for it now through countless dental visits. Dr. Lau’s office is the best! The office is welcoming and the staff is so caring and professional. Dr. Lau is amazing! She takes the time to listen to your concerns and thoroughly explains the treatment options. I know I’m in good hands when I come here and I have recommended thus place to several coworkers and friends.

I was a long time patient of Dr. Trexel. Enjoyed him very much. But, as the saying goes, all good things will go through changes over time … my version! A delightful change was Dr. Vi Lau taking over the practice. I have been a patient since the turn over and been very satisfied with the staff, the technology upgrades and with Dr. Lau. She is very pleasant, skillful, and assures patient comfort. I have had one molar crown replaced, some old leaking fillings replaced and a couple of chips repaired. Her staff continues to be very competent and friendly. Lisa has been an excellent Dental Hygienist for my semi-annual preventive care. If you don’t like your dentist, or you stay away because of bad experiences elsewhere, please consider a consult with Dr. Lau.

Like everyone that I know, the dentist is not my favorite place to visit. “Love your smile” is the exception! All the staff is friendly and helpful and caring. In the past, I had many unpleasant experiences in that chair. This dentist is the best! She makes sure I don’t feel anything, and I don’t. She cares about you and your time with her. She is the first dentist that supports me AFTER my visit. I’ve never had to call her back after my visit, but it’s comforting to know she is there for me. If you have need of a dentist- this is the place. My family love her as much as I do.

I have always been someone who has been afraid to go to see the dentist. In fact, I hadn’t been in a very long time. I knew I had to get my teeth checked out so I yelped dentists in La Mesa and that’s how I came across Dr. Lau’s office, the best dentist’s office I’ve ever been to! The staff is so welcoming and ensures you feel apart of the family. They are professional, caring, and all around happy to help. Dr. Lau is truly the best dentist I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. Her energy and smile are contagious, you can’t help but feel happy around her! She takes the time to get to know her patients, which made me feel at ease and welcome. Throughout my entire exam she would explain exactly what she was doing and would ask how I was doing. I felt comfortable to share with her I haven’t done the best job taking care of my teeth, she didn’t make me feel bad at all – her attitude was let’s now look forward to the future so I can love my smile. She made sure to explain scan results in detail and ensured I knew and understood what she was saying. It didn’t feel rushed and I didn’t feel like just another patient, Dr. Lau truly cares about each of her patients and wants the absolute best for them. I am confident that with Dr. Lau’s care, I too will love my smile!

I’ve been coming here for over 20 years now and have always had excellent experiences! I now bring my sons and they love going to the dentist. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They take great care of our dental health. Dr. Lau is gentle and caring. She cares for her patients and does great work! I highly recommend this place for all your dental needs!

I highly recommend Love Your Smile and Dr. Lau to anyone searching for a traditional family dentist office. While Dr. Lau offers trendy services like teeth whitening and invisalign braces, her primary focus is preventative maintenance and proper oral hygiene. She is very gentle with a needle and does not upsell and offer unnecessary treatments! Office staff is very kind, and they do a great job making a trip to the dentist as pleasant as possible. If you are frustrated with your current dentist, as I was, give Love Your Smile a chance to earn your business.

Last month I needed to have 2 cavities filled, and since I’ve had previous bad experiences with dental work, I was a little nervous. I am so glad Dr. Lau is my new dentist! She made me feel completely comfortable the entire time I was there, checking to make sure I was okay throughout the whole filling process. One of my cavities was a little deeper, so it required a numbing shot, and I didn’t even feel the shot going in! It was such an easy process. Dr. Lau was so great. She even called me a couple days after my appointment to make sure I was okay and everything felt good – which it did! I cannot recommend her enough.

The techniques that Dr. Lau uses in providing comfort for her patients is extraordinary! I have had the privilege of having 4 cavities filled in the last 18 months. When I say privilege I mean she treats me with dignity and respect. She uses topical numbing gel, but only Novocain when it’s absolutely necessary- so instead of being numb for hours after a standard procedure, I have walked out of both visits complete normal and pain free. She also provides lip balm while in the procedures and a warm towelette after the procedure to wash your face. Excellent service! I used to dread the dentist chair because of pain and numbing, but now I look forward to more time with Dr. Lau and her staff.

I went in today for an exam and a cleaning with Nicole, first time since COVID-19. I was really impressed with all the safeguards the office has implemented. As an over-70 with a couple of risk factors and a medical background, I am taking this virus seriously, and so is Dr. Lau: I felt very safe and totally comfortable. And as always, the care was excellent, and everyone friendly and personable despite “barriers”. Still the best!

Dr. Lau is exceptional and her staff friendly and helpful.  Scheduling my appointment was easy, and because I was switching dentists, I needed extra help in getting my X-rays.  Her receptionist followed through and also promptly called me back with my insurance related questions.  Once I was ready to make my appointment, I was able to get in the same week.  When I arrived with my four younger children and my husband was held up at work, the receptionist was eager to get them situated with puzzles and a movie.  After performing an exam, Dr. Lau asked me if I would like to proceed with my fillings right away.  Of course I agreed, thankful to get the work done the same day.  Dr. Lau was very friendly and receptive to all my needs as she worked carefully on my teeth.  Her gentleness puts her in a category of her own.  Because I have upper and lower fillings on all my molars, I was especially concerned about my bite afterwards.  Dr. Lau checked my bite thoroughly, but as I was checking out with the receptionist, I could already tell my bite was slightly off.  Dr. Lau insisted she fix it right then and there, and she did.  With my last four fillings, I have had to schedule multiple appointments with the dentist to get my bite just right.  Dr. Lau made it possible for me to get my exam, fillings and bite right in ONE appointment!  I was genuinely surprised when Dr. Lau gave me a followup call to check on me.  I am so thankful that I now have a caring dentist who does excellent work. After only visit, I have confidently referred her to my friends and family!

Dr Vi Lau, DDS and her staff are caring professionals and make u feel like family. I am very impressed at Dr Lau’s dedication to doing the best job possible. Her hands are very gentle and has the ability to relax you through any procedure. After years of looking for the best dentist I can honestly say I have found it. I have been coming to Dr Lau for a mere 2 years. She immediate earned my trust and I opted to follow all her recommendations since I my teeth needed a lot of work.
