I recently found Dr. Kim a little over a year ago. Upon first meeting him I found very likable. His dental exam is very thorough—he takes his time asking questions, going over your dental history, and thoroughly checking your teeth. The dental hygienists are also great. They take their time as well, making sure your teeth are super clean! And Bella at the front desk is awesome. She’s super helpful when booking your appointments. Overall I am so please with Dr. Kim and his crew. My wife now comes her as well and we have told many friends and neighbors about Dr. Kim.

Dr Kim is the best. His receptionist Bella is awesome, sweet, and efficient. And his hygienists are always great I do not like dentists. My last two dentists both made me cry, and I felt like the only thing that mattered to one of them was dolla dolla bills. Not my oral health or personal well being or anything. Dr. Kim has not made me cry and I’ve been seeing him for over 6 years now He is extremely intelligent. My first visit he explained all of his goals and my options in terms I could understand. He professes to want each of his patients to keep as many of their original teeth in their mouths in good condition as possible. He also took pics of my teeth with a mini camera the size of a pen and put them up on a computer screen so we could look them over together. Photographs were WAY easier for me to understand then X-Rays. He also showed me how a root canal worked through diagrams on an iPad I needed a root canal and was scared. I explained about my past painful experiences and we devised a plan to use a sedative and local anesthetic. I was skeptical but I had no need to be. It worked like a charm! And during the second procedure when he was putting the permanent caps on when I had a moment of pain, he addressed it right away and fixed the issue. The only pain I’ve felt after any of my procedures has been the pain in my jaw from holding my mouth open for so long but NOT one bit of tooth pain. In six years y’all.

Dr. Kim is the best dentist I have ever had (and I’ve been to a few over the years). He is very professional and caring, and his work is amazing. He continuously asks how I’m doing during a procedure, explains each step along the way and is very direct and pragmatic in his approach, which I appreciate so much!!!! Dr. Kim and the entire office staff are polite, respectful and value their patients’ time. In the 5+ years I’ve been going there, I have never had to wait to be seen. After my first visit with Dr. Kim, I referred my husband and we’ve been going there ever since!

Loved the office and Dr Kim! Can’t say enough good things! I, like many people, haaaaate going to the dentist. very uncomfortable and very expensive. So over the years I have just avoided it. So the New Year resolution was to get everything back into shape, including my mouth. So being very apprehensive, I researched dentists and thru Yelp and the wonders of the internet, I chose to go to Dr Kim’s office. And I could not be more pleased. From the beginning phone call, to Dr Kim introducing himself, to the great assistants and the less uncomfortable X-rays, it all went better than expected. I did have a few issues and one major tooth that had a large hole in it. Dr Kim was very patient with all my questions and fears and went over all the options for me…great communication. very clear for a non medical person. Financially I was a bit apprehensive b/c of the worst case scenario. It was quite pricey. But I called around and turns out although it wasn’t the cheapest, Dr Kim’s prices certainly weren’t the most expensive. So I went ahead with the appointment. The shot was painLESS!! and the operation itself went smoothly. AND this was the best part! Turns out the tooth didn’t need the root canal OR a crown..both of which are big ticket items at the dental office. Just needed a filling..which is the most conservative and least expensive!! Dr Kim took pictures along the way to show what was going on and the progression of the treatment as well…very cool and very high tech! But the fact that he could have done a more expensive treatment but didn’t! and went the more conservative and less expensive route makes me TRUST him completely to look out for my best interests instead of his back account. Something that I have had a problem with in the past. Bottom line: painLESS! trustworthy and a skilled operator (time will tell). AND he followed up with me later on to see how I was doing. A lot of dentists and businesses could take lessons from this guy. -R.Lee

Over the years I had my share of bad experiences with dentists. It’s literally painful to try to find a good dentist. I had dentists who gave super discounts if you were a cash customer but did a crappy job and I ended up losing a tooth. I realized the hard way that you have to be proactive and ask questions—seek a second opinion and not just go for the cheapest deal. I have finally found a dentist that is competent, reliable and professional. Dr. Kim is very thorough and understanding. He is very straightforward and he listens. I have been his patient for over 5 years and never have been disappointed. Of course the bonus for me is that Dr. Kim’s office is within minutues from my work. He is very prompt and always can get me in and out of his office within 1 hour. And I never have to wait to more than 5 minutes for my appointment unlike others who can take over an hour.

DR. Kim is THE BEST DENTIST EVER!!! Thanks Yelp members, cause I found out about Dr. Kim from your reviews, and all the things said here are true: the phone calls after procedures, the personal attention, the easiness, knowledge, great work, and so much more… all are true. This review is long due, but I was out the country for a few months. I met Dr. Kim for a consultation only, and before my next appointment for a regular filling and x-rays was up, I accidentally chipped my front tooth veneer on a Sunday at 9:30PM. But, even though it was a Sunday night and he had only met me once before, he picked up the phone, was very comforting (imagine someone calling you crying on a Sunday at 9:45PM), and he made himself available the next morning at 6:45AM, even though he doesn’t work on Mondays and he had to be somewhere else at 7:30AM. It was the kindest thing ever and he will be MY HERO forever. I have been telling all my friends and family about him, and I’m so glad I got the chance to write this review here too. He is simply Awesome!!!!!!!!! His staff is just wonderful: Bella and Maylin (sorry if I misspelled it) are cheerful, kind, friendly and very professional. I like them a lot. I highly recommend Dr. Kim and am glad I found him. Cheers!!!

I agree with most of the reviews…Dr. Kim is superb. Among all of this positive qualities, I most appreciate his sense of ethics. I have a lot of work needing to be done, and he continues to help me find the most cost-effective route while explaining the pros and cons in a clear, direct and caring manner. I also enjoy the education I receive in the chair. For example, while I was given the dreaded shot, Dr. Kim explained a pain theory to me, a theory that states that the brain cannot process more than a certain number of pain signals at once. He explained that by shaking my lip while injecting the needle, he tricks my brain into responding to the first signal(the shaking) instead of the insertion itself. Now I know many people would prefer to skip this little info session, especially needle phobics, but it’s still good to know your dentist knows what he’s doing and can explain the process eloquently. I’ve referred my mom and she had a pleasant experience as well. I will continue to refer friends and family to him.

This is the best dentist I have ever been to. I’ve been avoiding the dentist because I’ve been to horrible ones, but my experience at Dr. Kim’s was awesome. First, his staff are all super friendly and sweet. I have never meet employees who genuinely seemed happy so early in the morning. I had a 7 am appointment and everyone was warm and pleasant. The hygienist who did my cleaning was so gentle, but thorough. I had to have a cavity refilled and I did not feel any pain, before or after! I was surprised and expected to be in pain the rest of the day, but I felt great, even better than when I went in since my tooth was no longer sensitive. Dr. Kim even called me the next day to check up on me and see how I was feeling. Such excellent service! I highly recommend Dr. Kim!

I know I said that Dr. Kiss was the best dentist I’ve been to but I was wrong. Dr. Kim is. I’ve been a patient for about 2 years now and he is the best. Experienced and knowledgeable. This review is long overdue. I went to Dr. Kim after another dentist drilled too deep and nicked a nerve. This was after a filling had fallen out so I didn’t even have a cavity! I needed a root canal. I didn’t want to go back to the other dentist, so I yelped and found Dr. Kim. He did a series of tests and verified my need for a root canal. My brand new fake tooth/cap is still hanging on. Feels natural and comfortable. I might have to say its better than my old tooth because he filled in a gap that was bothering me. Thanks to Dr. Kim I can confidently chomp away.

Dr. Kim is one of those doctors you don’t think exists– where coming in for an appointment can be an actual pleasure, not a chore or something you dread– but somehow, Dr. Kim is real, and coming to his office is LOVELY. I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Kim and his staff. I was referred to his practice by a friend and her husband, who have been seeing him for years. I was completely floored when I came in for my first appointment and Dr. Kim greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. Before my x-rays, he took the time to ask about my dental history, and what I was hoping for in our dentist/patient relationship moving forward. (I mean, what dentist has ever taken the time to do this?? One who actually cares about your worries/your treatment/your teeth, I guess!) I’ve seen Dr. Kim and his staff three times now. The cleaning and fillings I’ve had performed there were the least painful I’ve EVER experienced after seeing four different dentists over the years. Dr. Kim really takes the time to give me information and options about my care, and as someone without dental insurance, I really appreciate how forthcoming and professional his staff is about costs. I’m just waiting for his building to vanish into thin air and realize I made this all up– this too good to be true dentist’s office– but by all the other glowing Yelp reviews, I think it’s here to stay.

I was incredibly happy with my visit here! I came in for a consultation because my previous dentist jumped to a root canal for the second time on a tooth that had no issues. It also looked fine (to me) on an xray. So I went to get a second opinion, and a new dentist. It was easy to schedule an appointment here, I was able to get one for the next day which I was happy about. The office is right down the street from my office, which is a huge bonus. There seems to be plenty of parking, and the office is shared with another dentist, so the reception area has two counters. The receptionist was very friendly, & handed me some paperwork to get started on. About 30 seconds later, they pulled me into the back and I met Dr. Kim. Dr. Kim is great, hes very straight forward and honest. The consultation was quick and basically confirmed what I had already thought. He was very honest with me, telling me that I wouldn’t need a root canal but if I ever did, I would have to go to a specialist because the structure on my root isn’t normal. Which was great news! I really appreciate the help & the honesty from these guys, I will be back for any future cleanings!

Never before in my life have I ever ENJOYED a dentist visit before I went to Dr. Lucio H Kim. (I love saying the full name too.. even his name is fun.) I was recommended by a coworker to head over here and was told “OMG you have to go here, he’s a rockstar dentist.” That statement itself sounded pretty out there but I was curious to check it out. I arrived early, was greeted kindly, and relaxed for approximately 15 seconds before being told to head back to get started. Everyone was so nice and supportive in the office and when I had my xrays done, Dr Kim walked me through what he was seeing, what he is looking for, and what the results mean for me. He honestly made me feel like I could be a dentist too. He was relaxed, positive, supportive, AND a few weeks after my first visit, I got a thank you card with an $8 Starbucks gift card inside. Best. Dentist. Ever. I would recommend him to everyone!

Had to add mine to the list of glowing reviews. I don’t like going to the dentist; I probably never have. To many bad experiences with LA dentist acting more like used car salesmen and less like medical professionals. On the advise of a friend I went to Dr. Kim. Office staff is excellent, responsive, and professional. Dr. Kim is beyond excellent. He presents the options and explains your choices and guides you through your treatment plan. I spend a lot of money at the dentist (bad teeth and bad maintenance) so it’s nice to have someone tell me what my options are, not show me the bill to sign and start drilling… There is follow up care – a personal call after service to make sure you’re doing alright – something a feel is unique and a dying trend. Dentistry isn’t cheap but, from the smattering of dentist I’ve visited in LA, the cost here is on par (which makes it an excellent value when you compare the level of care)… If you’re reading this because you’re thinking about a visit, it’s worth your time to give Dr. Kim a try.

Thanks to my fellow yelpers I found Dr. Kim. Since moving to Los Angeles I bounced from dentist to dentist trying to find the right fit. Dr Kim will be my dentist for life. His style of practice suits what I had been looking for. He’s very honest, listens to hear your expectations, and his work is impeccable. I wen to Dr Kim because I needed my annual check up and was thinking about getting veneers. He told me that he was only concerned with my dental health and didn’t care what my teeth looked like as long as they were healthy. I liked that answer as many dentists I’d seen in the past would have told me I NEEDED a lot of unnecessary work. I liked his answer and still proceeded to opt for veneers. Dr. Kim did an amazing job with my veneers! Bella his office manager is very friendly and accommodating!

Since I recently got married and moved to what I consider the middle of nowhere, I needed a new dentist in my area. After a Yelp search, I had 2 that I was seriously considering, Dr. Kim being one of them. I only wish that I had saved time and gone to him first. The first dentist pointed out that I had my 2, first-ever, cavities. However, when I went to Dr. Kim, he pointed out that I had 4 small cavities and actually showed me them on the pictures. Again, glad I didn’t go with the first guy. Someone else wrote “best dentist ever. Hands down.” I completely agree. Dr. Kim was warm and welcoming. He asked questions and LISTENED. When I was getting my deep cleaning by the hygienist, he even stopped in to ask how I was doing. The staff is amazing. They tell you exactly what they’re doing and even laugh with you to make you more comfortable. I got a deep cleaning on my second visit and halfway through the procedure, I noticed that the hygienist was taking her time and really being thorough. I had to point it out to her and tell her that my other dentist took less time and only really used a water pick. Apparently, they weren’t really giving me deep cleanings for my $900 after insurance payments. It really makes me appreciate the people at Dr. Kim’s office. And lastly, the office sends you a Starbucks gift card! Believe me, I used that in 2 days. 🙂 I also sent my husband in to have his deep cleaning and he said he loves the office too! Thanks for being awesome!!

Dr. Kim is the person to go to for your dental needs, without a doubt. About a month ago, I had severe pain in one of my molars. The pain was unbearable after a certain point, so I decided i needed to contact a dentist. I had recently moved to the neighborhood so at 3 in the morning I started calling local dental offices and leaving voice mails because I couldn’t take the pain any longer. Dr. Kim was the first to respond to my voice mail the next morning and after speaking to him on the phone I immediately knew that I didn’t even want to bother speaking to any other dentists. He was so friendly, professional, and accommodating. I told him about the amount of pain I was in and he told me that if I didn’t want to wait, I could go in right then (at 6:30 in the morning!) I couldn’t believe it. He inspected the infected tooth and gave me my options, and ultimately I decided to go with the root canal option. I had never had one before, and had heard NUMEROUS horror stories about the pain involved with getting a root canal. On the day of my root canal appointment, I let Dr. Kim know about how nervous I was, and he was amazing at putting my mind at ease. He talked me through the entire procedure, and during the procedure he kept checking up on me every few minutes or so, just to make sure I was still comfortable. Ultimately, thanks to Dr. Kim, my very first root canal was 100% pain free, and I could not have been happier with my experience at his office. Both he and his staff are very pleasant and knowledgeable, and they make going to the dentist a pleasant experience. Thanks Dr. Kim and staff!

Dr. Kim was my dentist many years ago before I moved to NY, and is now my dentist again even though I couldn’t live farther from Glendale. On a Friday evening of a three-day weekend, a large chunk of tooth broke off while I was eating lettuce. I left a message on the answering machine and Dr. Kim called me soon after to make sure I wasn’t in pain. It seems the problem is that I grind my teeth at night and break my fillings. Another dentist had made a night guard for me years before, but I never used it because it kept me awake. Dr. Kim wanted to make me a smaller one that he hoped might be more comfortable; I was skeptical because it was very expensive and I didn’t know if I would actually use it. Dr. Kim played “let’s make a deal” with me. He wanted me to try it. If I didn’t want it, I could return it and he would refund half the money (only fair as he would need to pay someone else to actually make it.) The end result? I actually love my new night guard. I know you’re thinking LOVE is a strong word for a molded piece of plastic, but it’s been life changing. It doesn’t keep me awake. My jaw no longer aches in the morning. I think it might also help with neck and shoulder tension. Hopefully it will also keep me from gnashing my teeth to bits, but every morning at 7am this almost seems incidental.

I recently changed dentists. I really liked my other dentist, but I needed a change because I was slightly worried I was being told to get crowns when I might not need them. Teeth are hard – like a car. Sometimes one wonders if the mechanic is telling you to do things that just aren’t necessary. My other dentist made it seem as though an immediate crown was a must. I usually am very very prompt attending to things, but i got cold feet and waited a year and then went to Dr. Kim. He did a good exam and told me I needed a crown. Ah well. So be it. I decided to have him do the work as I liked him and he seemed professional and had modern equipment. Well, to cut to the chase, i went in for my procedure and he did not give me a crown. He took out the existing fillings and poked around and told me that he felt that a crown would be an aggressive treatment for what could be solved with a replacement filling. Remember – he absolutely could have done this crown. I had been told twice I needed one and went in there ready to get it done. I was prepped and ready and fully convinced I had to have one. No one ever would have figured out that I had one done that could have been avoided. Remember – Crowns are more expensive and much more profitable for a dentist. But Dr. Kim didn’t do it. He did his best to do what was necessary and less invasive—and less expensive. So, yes, the Starbucks gift card is cute. And yes, he is a nice guy with good equipment. But most important, he is honest and a consummate professional. I am really happy I changed dentists. I would have a crown when I didn’t need one if I had not. So this is my take away. I say- go to Dr. Kim. He is trust worthy.

Even through the current pandemic events, everyone there makes amazing precautions to ensure both you and the staff are keeping healthy and safe. I hate dentists… I really really hate dentists. Not them personally..except for the masochistic one I had in college…but just the suffering that comes along with the work that’s done. BUT! Dr Kim has made me see that there is hope…that there is light where before there was just pain and despair….he’s like my dental superman saving me or the 2nd coming of Dental Jesus that catholic school never told me about…let me explain. I woke up with this searing pain in my jaw and the cold sweat and sinking feeling in my stomach told me “root canal” (i’ve had a couple done before…see “masochistic dentist” from before). So I ran to a local dentist I actually found here on Yelp…who shall remain nameless unless they call me AGAIN to try and collect on something I’ve already paid for ….I showed them the receipt and everything..sheesh!. ..anyways. The nameless dentist confirmed my fears with an unusually quick exam and xray saying I needed the root canal…but being without dental insurance at the moment I couldn’t afford it and would have to wait and just asked for a prescription of antibiotics so that the infection wouldn’t get worse….but when I explained my situation, his demeanor changed as if I just was a huge waste of time for him and his Porsche payments. So I returned to Yelp to try a 2nd time…and it was love at first type. Dr Kim was prompt, professional and very attentive. AND after a thorough examination, told me that the pain I was feeling was NOT due to a root canal but from the fact I was grinding my teeth at night! HALLELUJAH! And quicker than you can say an “Our Father”, he fashioned a quickie grind-guard right then and there and told me that if this didn’t relieve the pain, he would actually PAY to have the work done by the other dentist…now THAT my friends is confidence. So I took him at his dental gospel word and he was right…I have been soreness free for weeks now. So here i type to witness to all you Yelpers… I now am a faithful parishoner of the dental house of Dr Kim and am spreading the good word. Amen

I’ve said it before I’ll say it again, Dr. Kim is legit the best dentist! Quick and painless he gets me in and out fast and efficient every time. Also he always gives you a couple options for dental work, usually stating the worst case scenario but he will take the time and use his expertise to educate you on what’s best for your teeth, it almost never goes to the worst case scenario. Can’t ask for a better dentist. Thanks dr Kim! Oh and Bella at the front desk, super nice!!

I can’t speak highly enough about Dr. Kim and his staff. They are friendly, responsive, and attentive. Dr. Kim is both very kind and no-nonsense. He took a look in my mouth and very quickly identified that a) I grind my teeth and b) that I have acid reflux problems. I had never had a dentist tell this to me. Based on his recommendations, I’ve taken steps to prevent both problems. His hygienists are also very friendly and efficient. They give helpful advice without making you feel guilty. Another very unique thing about Dr. Kim is that he makes himself very available to his patients. You can reach him easily via phone or email at any time. It feels like you’re getting special treatment by a family friend and not some anonymous dentist. I feel like I’m in competent, caring hands with Dr. Kim, and I’ll be with him for as long as I can.

Dr. Kim was just amazing! I found him through Yelp and decided to go. Not only is he respectful of your time and kind but his staff is very helpful too. Bella the front desk person spent so much time on the phone with me explaining everything and answering all my questions. When I got there i didn’t even have time to sit down, they just took me in and the Doctor followed exactly 1 min later. The previous dentist I had gone to had given me a full checkup and had estimated that there was a lot of work to be done to my poor teeth. Being extremely broke and having no insurance i wanted to make sure with a second opinion. So Dr. Kim took 4 more extra x rays and did a full check up, and this kind hearted man DIDN’T”T EVEN CHARGE ME A DIME!!! and guess what? this morning I received a Starbucks card and a thank you letter. i would recommend everyone to Dr. Kim but here are a few things you should know before going in. He takes Met life & Delta Dental PPO only He’s prices are fair, not cheap. Plenty of Parking Unfortunately I might end up going to my old dentist 🙁 since i don’t have the insurance Dr. Kim takes and i cant change it anymore. (Trust me i tried)

Every dentist I’d ever had the misfortune of entrusting my cute little porcelains to had been some awful variation of Orin Scrivello, DDS (a la “Little Shop of Horrors”… and oh, the *horrors*!). Like bad boyfriends, I swore them off, figuring that if I just stayed away, I could save myself the pain, the blood, the heartache (from the dentists, not the boyfriends). Unfortunately, shunning dentists isn’t the best way to keep your pearly whites so pearly nor so white. When I broke a tooth, I had no idea whom to go to, and the thought of just picking a random dentist out of the Yellow Pages was terrifying. No one I knew seemed to be able to recommend a dentist either. As I was daring myself to try 1-800-DENTIST, one of my friends called me and said, “I just heard what happened – do you have a dentist? You *have* to go to mine! He’s the BEST!” And Dr. Kim is indeed the best. From the moment you call his office, his receptionist, Bella, takes awesome care of you. When you arrive, each and every member of the staff is incredibly kind and caring. Dr. Kim was fantastic with me, an extremely fearful patient. I like knowing what’s happening and what to expect; he did a terrific job of explaining the various procedures to me before he did anything, and Dr. Kim made sure I wasn’t in any pain and was comfortable. But if you’re the type who would rather not know anything, that’s okay too! Dr. Kim was also wonderful about making sure I knew what my options were, if certain procedures were necessary now or if they could wait until later (like, when I have more money!) or if a procedure was completely optional. I appreciate being informed and not pressured, unlike my former dentists who would just push *everything* on me. Dr. Kim makes my smile look like a million bucks, but his pricing is very reasonable and affordable. I can’t recommend him enough. I love my dentist—and now I’ve got the smile to prove it.

My husband and I have been searching for a dentist in Glendale and after doing some research, I’m so glad we have decided to come to Dr. Kim’s office. You can definitely tell that Dr. Kim is knowledgeable and knows exactly what he’s doing. Also, just went in for a cleaning and had such a great experience. My hygienist was super friendly and thorough with my cleaning. Normally would dread coming in to the dentist but my husband and I had great experience so far. Another plus is that they don’t make you wait if you have any appointment scheduled. As soon as you come in at your appointment time they are ready for you to get started! Will definitely continue to go here for our dental care 🙂

Been a patient of Dr. Kim for I think a solid 5 or 6 years now. Love him. And his office. And this is coming from someone who has historically disliked both dentists and anything related to anything dental. In context: I’ve had probably two or three dentist plus another surgeon in my mouth as well (got a tooth knocked out) and I have pretty much disliked all of them. Until I start seeing Dr. Kim The biggest thing that struck me is the first time I ever got a shot from him, I felt nothing. Not a thing. Nadda. Nothing. ( And I also detest needles by the way!). He’s explained his technique for giving shots to me and I still don’t get it. But it works. And that in itself to me is a great indication of how he really takes a lot of care to make all his patients feel as comfortable as possible. Very relaxed environment. Very relaxed bedside (dental-chair-side?) manner. Answers your questions. Very approachable and you can feel like you can bring up anything and he will treat each and every question as important to be answered (The saying “There are no dumb questions” really fits here). And his manner has permeated to his staff. All his staff and assistants have the same great dental-chair-side manner. Pleasant office. Never been happier with a dentist. And I no longer detest going to the dentist. (that’s a big step for me) (And who knows, maybe down the road I’ll even look forward to it 😀 .. well … we’ll see) A+++ 5 stars!

After losing my exceptional dentist of 20 years to cancer, I’ve had a difficult time finding a good dentist worth comparing. After my first visit with Dr. Kim last week, I think he’s the one. My first good impression was my interaction with Bella, receptionist, over the phone. She was very helpful in providing me information about my insurance coverage. She then mailed paperwork for me to fill out in advance before my first visit. What I liked is the Patient Agreement which states their commitment to excellence during the patient appointment, but in return they ask that the patient arrives on time and/or call 48 hours in advance if the patient needs to reschedule. I think this benefits everyone and sets high expectations both Dr. Kim and the patients. Once I arrived, I didn’t wait a minute before I was taken into one of the rooms. Shortly after the friendly hygienist (Maylin) took my x-rays, Dr. Kim came in and one of his first questions was, “What are your expectations of me?” He got me off guard, but I was quite impressed that he cares to know what I expect and he even took notes. He informed me that he likes to know what all his patients expect because everyone has different expectations. He was very thorough in discussing his analysis of my teeth and asking me if I had any questions. Another thing that I liked that he said was that he doesn’t recommend for patients to have work done that is not absolutely necessary. After my exam, he walked me to the front desk and gave me his business card. He told me that I could call him whenever I wanted and that he would call me right back. He also informed me that if I emailed him, he would reply by the end of the day. Bella then gave me a estimate for my future visit which was helpful to have in advance. She also called my insurance again to check how much insurance I had remaining. Having this information was very helpful in order to avoid any surprises in the future I then called Bella a couple days later and I left a message. Dr. Kim ended up calling me 5 minutes later. I was pleasantly surprised as it is rare for a Dr. to call without specifically asking for he/she to call back. He patiently answered my question, he literally spoke to me as though I am a friend. Later that day, I received a thank you letter for my first visit along with a Starbucks card! I definitely felt like my business was appreciated. I emailed him today after hours to say thank you for the letter and Starbucks card. I also emailed him to update him on a visit I had with an endodonist. I wasn’t expecting a response via email until tomorrow, but he ended up calling me to address my email. So far, he has demonstrated to be an excellent dentist who strives for perfection. Kudos to Dr. Kim!

After I booked my first appointment, Dr. Kim called me himself to ask if I had any questions or concerns. I thought that was a nice personal touch but it turns out that he runs his entire practice with that level of thoughtfulness and courtesy. When I first went in for my consultation, everyone was fantastic. I didn’t have to wait at all before I was brought to a room. After x-rays, Dr. Kim came in to talk to me about my teeth. I hadn’t seen a dentist in over ten years so I was incredibly nervous about the whole situation. Dr. Kim immediately set me at ease. He didn’t make me feel bad for having not gone for so long and he didn’t chastise me about the condition of my teeth. He gave me a rundown of all the work I’d need to have done and when I explained that I have no insurance, he helped me come up with prioritized list so I wouldn’t have to do everything at once. His receptionist also gave me information on a payment plan for the more expensive work. One week later I received a thank you letter and a Starbucks gift card in the mail.
Today I went in for a deep cleaning of half my teeth. When I arrived Dr. Kim came out and talked to me about my fears, he’s so understanding. Once again, I didn’t wait any more than five minutes. The hygienist was very understanding about my anxiety and clearly explained everything she was doing. The procedure wasn’t nearly as scary as I thought, and I can see and feel a huge difference. It was a little pricy but, hey, it’s my own fault for not taking care of my teeth for so many years. Here’s the most awesome thing so far: tonight Dr. Kim called me from his home to ask me how I was feeling and make some suggestions regarding the soreness in my gums from the procedure. That’s going above and beyond to take care of your clients. I was amazed. I never thought going to the dentist could be so pleasant. Even though it isn’t cheap, you really do get what you pay for. I would recommend Dr. Kim to anyone, even if you don’t have insurance and especially if you are afraid of the dentist.

TL; DR: HIGHLY Recommended! . Dr. Kim’s office is always clean, his staff professional, and Dr. Kim and his staff completely blew me away with their service. I’ve visited him three times already and each time I was never disappointed or felt like my questions were left unanswered. He never made me wait for more than a couple minutes (LOVE THIS!). At other dental offices, I’ve had to wait close to an hour after my appointment to be seen. YIKES! I knew from the moment I spoke with Bella the receptionist that I made the right choice. I explained my healthcare situation in a semi-panicky state to Bella while she listened patiently. She also provided very thorough instructions about what I should do before my first visit to the office. Maybe a day later I received a letter with some documents and forms to fill out. The form was simple to understand, but still thorough enough to gather information about my health history. Without any hesitatation, I filled that sucker out and brought it with me on the day of my appointment. During the appointment, Dr. Kim went over the forms I filled out and asked me if I had any questions for him. He also asked me what I expected out of my dentist. This was such a shocking, yet relieving question because it made me feel like I was there to be heard, not hurt, by my dentist. I have an OK threshold for pain, but a low threshold for anxiety in unfamiliar/scary situations. He eased my nervousness by showing me all the equipment and explained their function before he worked on my teeth. I loved this so much. He was very precise and didn’t hurt me one bit during the cleaning. What makes Dr. Kim even more wonderful is that he calls his patients to check up on them. I ordered a custom-made product during the holidays. Recently, I went in for the fitting. Dr. Kim spent the time to fit my product and adjust the shape to make sure it was THE perfect fit before letting me go. A couple days after that last visit, he called me to make sure I wasn’t experiencing any discomfort. I was pretty pleased with this follow-up call b/c it showed he cares about his patients. I know he is a busy guy so things like these really speaks volume about his professionalism and character. Dr. Kim’s office is off the 134 freeway on Glenoaks. There are almost two dozen parking spots in his lot so I never have trouble with parking. There are plenty of street parking too since it’s in a quieter part of Glendale. Oh, if you love the way Anthropologie smells, then you’ll love Dr. Kim’s office! I think they buy their candles from Anthro! 🙂

The staff was pretty professional and I barely had to wait around to the dentist. In general Dr. Kim is a pretty good dentist. I think he’s used to getting very dental-phobic patients because he and his assistant would explain EVERYTHING they were doing, and constantly ask if I was OK. I grew up with a great dentist and have never been scared of them, so this seemed like a tad much to me. But I can appreciate how it would help someone be at ease. Dr. Kim was really responsive and knowledgeable about everything I asked. Just by glancing at my teeth and gums he know which ones were sensitive and bled and which ones I’ve never had trouble with, then he blew up my X-rays and put it on the screen (they have a personal computer for every chair btw, which is pretty cool) and showed me exactly why my gums bleed and where the “gum recession” was taking place. This was a cool thing no dentist had done for me before. Lastly, he gave me advice for better brushing and didn’t get too mad at me for never flossing, though he made the message clear of how important it is. When he didn’t find anything wrong with my teeth, he said I could and there was no copay! After dealing with slightly more pressure situations (car mechanics and vision people) I was very pleased he was completely honest about not needing to do more work, even if my insurance would have covered it. I didn’t give 5 stars because I didn’t think it was the best a dentist could possibly get. My hometown dentist was a little better, but there’s also nothing wrong with this place. As with other places I have reviewed, I fully plan on returning whenever I need a dentist. Edit: I DID give it five stars after receiving a Starbucks gift card in the mail a week after my appointment. They totally bought me off for $8 🙂 But seriously it was very thoughtful and shows that my business means a lot to them. Also, one tid-bit I forgot to mention is that if the office is closed, any calls go directly to Dr. Kim’s personal cell phone (that’s actually how I made the appointment in the first place). These two things do put them over the top for me.

Dr. Kim is a great dentist. I checked him out solely due to the rave reviews here on Yelp, after a bad experience with a Valley dentist who wanted to charge me $2500 to fill a bunch of cavities I’d obtained due to grinding. Dr. Kim agreed that I did have the cavities, but said all but 2 were too mild to warrant fillings. He could have recommended more fillings (although not $2500 worth) and I probably would have gone with it, but he takes a conservative approach which only calls for expensive, invasive procedures when truly necessary – even though he might make less money as a result. He also fitted me for a mouthguard, which has worked great and prevented my grinding from causing any more damage. Dr. Kim and his staff are very accommodating to my student schedule – never have to wait months to see the dentist. Oh yeah, and his bedside manner is as good as everyone says. One other thing: I live in Sherman Oaks, and Dr. Kim is at least 1/2 hour drive away from my apt, sometimes worse in morning traffic. Yet the drive is totally worth it for a dentist that I can trust. I hope to have Dr. Kim working on my teeth until old age, when they’re replaced superbionic whatchamacallits.

my phone rang, it was the Doc himself saying, we have a cancellation, want to get started?
I did…yes, I did! and so yesterday I had a teeth-cleaning, poor Chelsea had her work handed to her, but she drilled and buffed with a smile. I bled alot, and looked like a horror movie extra…but that’s what happens when you wait too long, friends. When i got home from the cleaning, (feeling a little sorry for myself and self-righteous at same time, i went to the dentist) the mailman handed me a personal thank you from the good people at 620 E. Glenoaks, Glendale, via real mail! meow! bonus points for a terrific parking lot and lots of magazines to read. best of all, last night when I flossed with the new floss that they gave me, no blood, no tears and now I am on the road to a plaque-less mouth. Thanks to Dr. Kim and his staff….

I haven’t even been to see him yet and already I am amazed. Seriously. So amazed that I joined yelp just to say thanks guys and to tell about how awesome this guy is! I just moved here from NJ where it took me literally years to find a dentist I trust. ( I had been totally psychologically scarred by many a dentist) I haven’t been insured in a year so I was pretty nervous about that already, not to mention the flashbacks of the lil shop of horrors dentist I was seeing in my head. Anyhoo, I broke a tooth today on who knows what so i was freaking out. I looked online for affordable dentists in LA, yeah a sure way to get a hack, but I had no choice, I didn’t know where else to go. A hit came up for yelp so I clicked it just to see what was up with it. I clicked on the first 5 star dentist thinking “Eh yeah, i totally can’t afford this.” I read the amazing reviews and someone had a story just like mine. I figured why the heck not? Let’s give it a shot and called Dr. Kim. Expecting to get a receptionist I was very surprised when he answered the phone himself at 3:30pm! I said I needed to make an appointment and I had no insurance. His exact words were “Okay.” My wheels totally screeched to a halt, never in my life had a Dr. of any kind ever told me “okay” when i said I had no insurance. Usually you get a “tsk, tsk” and a “Sorry, we aren’t taking new patients.” Back in NJ a few years ago, I’ve even had a few different dentist’s receptionist tell me that while I was in tears from the pain. Let’s just say I was floored by his response. Even when he told me how much x-rays cost I was shocked at how reasonable he is. What a nice guy, I already have nothing but kudos for him. I’ll try and update on Wednesday and let ya’ll know how it went. Thanks Yelp! Who knew? I am now a true believer. =) Okay so here’s the update: This guy ROCKS. Seriously times seriously. If i could give him 12 stars I would. He lived up to the expectations and more. Turns out I didn’t break a tooth it’s a bone fragment from some previous surgery. His consultation was free and I only paid $100 for a full set of X-rays. His receptionist is amazing too, she addressed me by my name before I even introduced myself. What Dr.’s office offers you a drink while you wait? Why, I never! Anyhoo yeah he’s inconceivably awesome you should make him your dentist too!
