No one likes going to the dentist to get work done, but somehow this office takes away that nervous and anxious feeling you normally would get. They are super personable and welcoming family run business that really makes you feel like a family friend which you’ve known your whole life. I had some work done after getting a root canal at a previous office and it was an overall terrible experience. I didn’t like the fact that the dentist kept mentioning to me how little he gets from the insurance for people who had my insurance company. I knew that was not an office I wanted to keep returning to, so I searched for another place. That’s when I stumbled upon this place on yelp and the reviews of this place were spot on. Gary was so easy going and relatable that he makes  the experience such a breeze. He was professional and does such amazing work. He takes his time explaining every step of the way and ensures you feel comfortable and completely satisfied before you leave. Literally the whole team there is so friendly and welcoming and they are all such a pleasure to work with. I cannot recommend this place enough. I know I’ll be coming here for years to come. I live abroad now but whenever I come back to the States I stop by Luu Dental to get my teeth cleaned and checked by Dr. Gary Luu. It’s always a smooth experience. I’ve been coming to Luu Dental since before Gary was even in dental school. Dr. Hoi Van Luu, Gary’s dad, used to manage my teeth. Honestly, I’ve known Gary since we were younger and as we’ve grown and matured so has he in his career. I can say that hes one of my hardest-working friends and he has a passion for his job, reinvesting into his business while learning/specializing his skill set. The effort he puts in definitely shines through when you talk to him. I’m proud to be Gary’s friend and his patient. Just got my teeth cleaned an hour ago at Luu Dental – my mouth feels great

My experience at Luu Dental has been fantastic! Dr. Gary Luu has taken great care of my teeth over the years and provides great advice regarding hygiene and preventative care. He always ensures that I am comfortable during my visits and has a gentle hand while he’s working on my teeth. One of the main reasons why I chose Luu Dental was because my previous dentist was rather rough with my teeth and I felt he didn’t really care about his patients much. Hailey is super great to work with when scheduling appointments and is always so kind when I see her in the office (and on the phone too!) I recently decided to do Invisalign and met with Dr. Casey Luu for a consultation. He was very professional and took the time to explain what Invisalign is and went into detail as to what to expect during my treatment. His consultation definitely persuaded me to move forward with getting Invisalign when I was initially on the fence about it. I recommend Luu Dental for all of your dental needs!

If I could give a 10 star review I would. First of all I had a big fear of going to any dentist, so you can imagine my teeth were not in tip top shape. About 2 years ago I was in excruciating pain from a bad cavity on my molar that I never took care of, I was literally in tears from the pain. I walked into this office in hopes that they could help me, I had never been to this office before. Hailey the amazing receptionist at the front desk was soo attentive and sweet. Dr. Luu took me in right away to see what he could do for me. Dr. Luu referred me to a great oral surgeon since the tooth needed to be pulled out. Dr. Luu called the oral surgeons office and within 20 minutes I was at the oral surgeons office getting my tooth taken care of. Dr. Luu was soo understanding of my fear of dentists and was very nurturing and kind. Since I loved how Dr. Luu and Hailey treated me, I then recommended Dr. Luu to my husband since he needed some work done for a dental clearance he needed prior to a major surgery. Dr. Luu went above and beyond to get my husband’s dental needs taken care of before surgery. I have had great work done myself by Dr. Luu. He makes me feel comfortable, not scared, always takes the time to explain every step to me. Jeffrey is Dr. Luus assistant and is great at what he does, he is always there making sure im ok and comfortable. Now I have my brother who had an even bigger fear of the dentist, going to see Dr. Luu! He loves them too! He couldn’t get over how nice and comforting they all are. I never thought I could go to see a dentist and have no fear. They are that good! And to top it off, Hailey always calls after an appointment to see how we are doing, making sure we are good. Believe me when I say that they are AMAZING! If you are in the market for a dentist look no further! Dr. Luu is your guy! Thank you Hailey…Jeffrey…and Dr. Luu!

My dentist retired so I was in search of a new dentist. I decided to try Dr. Gary Luu (“Dr. Gary”) and I am so glad I did. I now have a new dentist that I love!  You know how most people dread going to the dentist?  Well, you won’t with Dr. Gary.  I always leave his office smiling and all my visits are so pleasant. It’s a small family run dental office. Everyone is so sweet and welcoming. I love the intimate feeling and how they remember who I am. I also love that it’s easy to make an appointment and that they even have plenty of Saturday appointments available. I always found it hard to make appointments at other dental offices, but I have been able to set appointments here very easily.  I also love that they don’t overbook like many bigger dental offices.  So, you get seen right away.  There’s no waiting around, which is how it should be! My first experience with Dr. Gary was for a check up and cleaning. I also brush too hard so I had to go in a few times to get fillings/buckles/bonding (not sure about the terms).  Every single time I went, I was just so pleased with the service and work done.  He is very friendly and funny.  I always find myself laughing when I’m there.  I also love his dental assistant, Hali.  She’s so sweet.  Whenever I’m getting work done, both Dr. Gary and Hali ask me if I’m doing ok throughout the process.  I just feel like they genuinely care about my comfort.  When Dr. Gary is doing the anesthesia shot, Hali massages my arm/shoulder.  Its the first time any dental assistant has done that.  It makes such a difference!  It takes your mind off the shot/pressure.  I remember thinking, “Wow!  This is great!” I also noticed that Dr. Gary’s work is really great!  I got fillings/buckles done before by my old dentist.  When I look at the difference in the work, its noticeable.  Dr. Gary made the filling an exact color so it doesn’t look like a filling.  I can tell he really cares about the work he does.  And I notice it in my mouth!  Dr. Gary also took the time to teach me how to brush my teeth and floss properly.  His technique is helping me do it everyday. There’s plenty of parking in the lot, which is another plus. I highly recommend Dr. Gary for your dental needs.  You won’t ever dread going to the dentist again!

If you are looking for an All Star Service Dentist, come to Luu Dental. You won’t regret it. This is a family run dentistry that provides you with great customer service, caring doctors and staff, and you’ll receive top quality work. Making an appointment is super easy, just give them a call. Lin who is the receptionist & also a dentist assistant will pick up the phone. She speaks Vietnamese and English. I am not always the best at talking on the phone, but be patient and Lin will answer all of your questions. My first visit was about a year ago. I came in just trying to get a diagnostic of the health of my teeth since I hadn’t been to the dentist in a while. I was greeted by Lin and given a general patient questionnaire. After that I was greeted by Dr. Gary and Hali (Dr. Gary’s dental assistant). I got a full examination and a thorough cleaning of my teeth that day that I was able to smile with confidence once again 🙂 From the examination, Dr. Gary took the time to explain with detail the areas where there was a concern and how to treat them. From his diagnostic I was able to make informed decisions as to how to move forward with any treatments. My experience at this dentistry has been nothing else but positive. As a child and teenager I dreaded going to the dentist. However, ever since I found this place I actually look forward to my dentist’s appointment. I just came in for my 5th visit and all of the five times I have left happy and satisfied for the following reasons: 1. Dr. Gary and Hali have always been great at making sure that I am comfortable and relaxed during any procedure (cleaning, fillings, etc.) and I had rarely experienced any pain at all during any of my visits. 2. I see the great quality of work I am receiving. I feel like I get an upgrade every time I come in here. I always walkout feeling and being a better me. 3. They are caring professionals and friendly people. You can see it and you can feel it. I feel like of the family everytime I come to visit.  4. I can afford it. I am a college student and don’t have a dental insurance but that was never an obstacle to getting great quality care So book your next dentist appointment with them! They are great at what they do. Seriously. P.S. I forgot to mention that Dr. Gary still continues to get educated in his field to bring to his customers more services and the latest in dentistry practices

There is not enough words to explain how happy I am to have found this dentistry. I mentioned before how Dr. Hoi worked on my tooth and saved it from an extremely close root canal. I also mentioned how I had never met Dr. Gary because he was on vacation the first time I came here. Well, a few weeks ago, I got the pleasure of meeting him when I came back to have my teeth cleaned. First impression, he’s easy to talk to and super funny! He made me feel very comfortable from the moment I walked in. As well as the receptionist of course. I can’t believe I still don’t know her name.. but she’s always been very kind toward me whenever I came in. He then informed me, after getting my X-rays, that I had another tooth that was close to being a root canal.. And all this time, I thought I took good care of my teeth. I was so scared at the thought of having to pay for a root canal because they are PRICEY. So as you can imagine, my heart was pounding as I was laying in the chair, waiting for the verdict. I could tell he was being super careful with the tooth and that he did a very thorough job because he suggested that he drill a little closer to get everything out and then. Low and behold, Gary said those glorious words. “We saved it.” I swear the clouds opened up and the angels sang. It’s indescribable the relief I felt. That’s when I knew I’d NEVER go anywhere else for any tooth related job. Even for something as simple as a teeth cleaning. After speaking with Dr. Gary and his father some more after my filling was done, I saw how genuinely kind they were when it came to their patients. If you’re looking for a dentist who truly cares about you and not about what’s in your wallet, stop looking – trust me

1st time dental exam & cleaning went great. This is a small dental clinic located right on the corner of New Ave & Garvey. The front door is located on the main street of Garvey. Parking: Free Parking at a small private lot that can fit around 15-20 cars Environment: Had a small lobby to check-in and had a TV to watch. Clean place. Since it was my initial exam, I had to fill out paper work, but shortly after I was taken to the back and a few minutes later started on my dental exam and cleaning. IMO it wasn’t a long wait. Maybe a total of 10-15 mins? Of course, my appointment was scheduled. Not sure if they do walk-ins. Cost: I have Delta Dental PPO, and my initial exam and cleaning was covered, so I can’t comment on other procedural costs. Customer Service: I believe this place is family owned, as the dentist who was assigned to me was Dr. Gary A. Luu and the other dentist is Dr. Hoi Van Luu. Dr. Gary was very thorough in explaining to me everything thing that he was about to do and gave me recommendations on future dental procedures that my previous dentist never mentioned. All the recommendations were reasonable and made sense. I appreciated the education on how to better take care of my teeth. I would definitely recommend other friends and family members to get their dental services by them

If you’re new to this area, there’s no need to look any further for a dentist. If you’re looking for a competent, thorough, friendly…basically a dentist who genuinely cares about his patients, this is the dentist for you. Over the past few years, I’ve had nothing but excellent dental care from just teeth cleaning to fillings, repairs, and caps from Dr. Gary Luu. Unlike my last dentist who just cares about billing the maximum allowance from my insurance, and sometimes I would have to wait for an hour even though I arrived on time for my appointments; that has never happen at this office.  It drives me crazy reading really long reviews so I’m not getting into too much details by making this short as I don’t really like to write reviews. A big reason I’m writing this review is because Dr. Luu have always took his time to make sure I’m happy with any treatment so it’s only fair I’m taking my own time to return the favor. As the saying goes, what goes around comes around. When you do good and the right things for others, you will get what you deserve in return. Just take my words for it and make an appointment, you won’t regret it. For all the times that you’ve made the pains go away…my mouth is saying THANK YOU DR. LUU!

I am happy to announce that after roughly two decades of not seeing a dentist, the hiatus has come to an end.  Finding Dr. Gary Luu could be attributed to Yelp or my maturity in finally making the plunge to make the call and actually use the insurance awarded to me, but in all honesty, I wouldn’t be writing this review if it weren’t for Dr. Luu — not the dentist, per se, but the man behind the dental mask and loupes. Whether it’s a doctor or dentist, it is truly hard to find one that is personable, one that sees you not as a client but as a person.  Not only did I get the sense of that during my appointment, but it became even more evident afterward, when we stood around and chatted for 30 or so minutes about more than just teeth and my willingness to floss.  Our conversation was genuine, and I learned that to be truly “good” at what one does, one’s craft — which Dr. Luu most certainly has — is only part of the gig.  He has what many lack, what has kept me from coming to the dentist all this time  — the ability to connect. Does he make this connection with all of his patients?  I don’t know.  I know we grew up in the same area, and are about the same age, something likely to be central in how we identified with one another.  But I most certainly wouldn’t be surprised if he was this genuine and cool of a guy with most of his patients. I’ve never been excited about having a dentist.  It seriously seems weird, borderline dorky, but at the same time, it feels comforting and relieving that I’m in the good hands of a great person. I don’t really write yelp reviews, mainly because I don’t want to put myself out there, but if anyone deserves one, it’s Dr. Luu.  I encourage anyone who is hesitant, recently moved, or is shopping for dentists, to give him one visit.  I most certainly don’t regret the call I made. Dr. Gary Luu is one of the best dentists in the SGV.  My recent procedure with him deserves an updated review.  Before seeing Dr. Gary Luu I used other “highly rated” dentists in the area.  It turns out their work did not hold up over the long run. I had a cavity in the past that was “repaired” with a filling. After seeing Dr. Gary Luu he noticed the filling had some issues.  He removed the filling to find the tooth was rotting beneath the filling the previous dentist had done. The procedure Dr. Gary Luu has done was meticulous and extremely high quality.  The new filling matches my tooth perfectly.  I can’t say enough about Dr. Gary Luu and his staff. His attention to detail and the care he puts into his patients is unmatched.  For those in the area, Dr. Gary Luu is the only dentist you should be seeing
