I love Dr. Beshar. I have been seeing him for 35 years and every experience has been a positive one. He has done everything for me – crowns, half crowns, fillings, Invisalign, veneers, and he cured my TMJ and bite problems. He even did a successful bone graft and implant for a friend of mine when a bone graft by a top surgeon at Memorial Sloan Kettering had failed. He takes great pride in his work and always does a wonderful job, whether its is cosmetic dentistry or regular, medically-necessary dentistry. Best Dentist in the City! All the staff are incredibly helpful, polite and responsive. Cleanings are thorough and painless. Before being recommended to Dr. Beshar’s practice, I had tried a couple of other dentists. Everytime I was met with a rude hygienist who criticized me for drinking tea/coffee (sorry I am human!). This is not the case at this dentistry, the staff are incredibly compassionate and understanding. I never miss a cleaning and frankly look forward to it. The office is neat as a pin and COVID-19 protocols are obeyed to the letter without compromising dental services. I am Canadian undergoing dental implant surgery, so I have a partial plate. It broke while visiting New York in May. I made a desparate call to my dentist in Canada, who contacted his friend Dr. Beshar. Dr. Beshar’s office contacted me with news that he had an opening when he could see me the following day. You know you are in good hands with Dr. Beshar. He created a long-term plan for my dental care that makes much more sense than the constant money drains I had experienced before (mostly because of gum problems); Beshar’s plan will actually solve the problem, and he explained it in such a way that I could understand. His professional expertise is clear in his work as a teacher; there’s a sense that he rigorously keeps up with the evolutions in dentistry, and he embraces patient care and comfort, taking it seriously as part of what a dentist does — and not as a problem to be endured. As I listened to him as he worked on me, I observed how exacting he is, how much he wants to get it right. And he has an amazing touch; I have gums that somehow connect to some VERY sensitive neural pain receptors, yet with his care I was able to get through some very deep fillings without novacaine. Strangely, I have a bad psychological reaction to having things touch on both my mid-mouth hard palate and the soft palate at the back of my throat; this has been irritating to some dentists, who have written things like “GAGGER!!!!” on my files — truthfully, as a simple cleaning produces that reaction as much as anything — but he has taken it with stride. Another in my family, who has neglected his dental care out of fear for decades, with many missing teeth as the result, finally became convinced that he had to deal with the problems all at once in the most efficient way possible, through a series of appointments over a couple of months. Dr. Beshar’s plan for his treatment was so sensible, and the results so clear, that he went through with the process — with no complaints! I recommend him completely, though with one caveat: The office is not inexpensive, and payment is expected up front for the entire fee. Daniel has been excellent at keeping me informed and breaking down the costs so that insurance money is best used, and he is happy to arrange a payment schedule. It is a shame that dental insurance is so horribly behind in compensating for medically necessary procedures. (We really need an effective protest movement on this issue.) But given that all dentistry, beyond standard preventive care and the occasional filling or crown, costs, Dr. Beshar’s office makes sure the cost pays for work that’s meaningful and lasting. I wish I had found him before now.

Dr. Beshar has been my dentist for 20 year and has always joked that my teeth are “boring,” I was blessed with no dental problems. That changed dramatically on May 5, 2015 when I was thrown over the handlebars of my bike and landed face-first on the street. My mouth hit first and both of my front teeth were broken, one completely in half, ruining my previously “perfect” smile. My partner called Dr. Beshar’s office immediately and he and his staff let us know that they would make time for me as soon as I was able to get there. Fortunately, I was well enough to see them the next day and the treatment I received warrented 10 stars. Not only was everyone tremendously empathetic and compassionate, but the work that Dr. Beshar and Linda did to provide me with temporary front teeth was beyond incredible. In looking in the mirror I could not even tell that I wasn’t looking at the exact same “perfect” teeth I had two days before. I will be returning in a few weeks when my mouth has fully healed for my permanent replacement teeth but I can’t imagine them looking any better than what I have right now. I have enthusiastically recommended Dr. Beshar to friends, family and colleagues for years, but now will do so having first-hand experience with his expertise in what was for me a very traumatic situation. I had my teeth cleaned by Dr. Beshar’s long-standing technician, Luba Gorelick, who is excellent. The practice has adapted seamlessly to the Covid situation. The room I was in had just been sanitized when I arrived. Procedures have been modified, for example, no ultrasonic cleaning, because it creates a spray. Now, visual images of teeth and gums are made to complement the x-ray records, which Dr. Beshar examines without entering the room. My appointment was punctual. I did not have to wait. I highly recommend Dr Beshar’s practice. I have been his patient for many years.

I live in Denver and was in Manhattan on day 3 of a 9 day trip when my implant (work done at another dentist) failed! I couldn’t believe it and didn’t know what to do. It’s 2 of my front teeth! A local friend recommended Dr. Beshar. They got me in to the office right away and were very focused on figuring out a solution. Correcting it on the spot was not an option because of the way it failed, but they managed to craft a temporary solution that let me be comfortable in public and continue my vacation. I could even go out to eat with friends, which was a big part of the trip for me. Dr. Beshar also gave me excellent advice on options moving forward. I had an old porcelain overlay fall off one of my front teeth and needed immediate assistance. I called the office on Monday morning but it was MLK Day so the office was closed. I never thought I’d say this but I actually look forward to seeing my dentist. Dr. Beshar and his staff are all genuinely nice people who obviously care about their patients. I went in for what I would consider to be an emergency because a veneer from a front tooth broke on a hard piece of food leaving me with a rather embarrassing and very exposed snaggle tooth. I love this dentist and prior to meeting him and his wonderful staff I was dentist phobic!!! I am still a scary cat when the drill comes out but some things can’t be helped. Dr. Beshar is a no nonsense dentist who takes the time to exam you and explain things to you. When you go to an appointment there you feel like you are his only patient. He is not rushing from one room to the other as patients are made to wait. The staff is kind, patient and always friendly. They make you feel welcomed. In addition this office is clean and modern . Dr. Beshar is a fantastic dentist! I have been seeing him for 30 years, and he has done everything for me, from fixing my bite and curing my jaw pain, to crowns (including fixing a faulty crown done by another dentist), to Invisalign, to cosmetic dentistry. After chipping my front teeth, he made me gorgeous veneers that perfectly matched my teeth and did not look overly large or white or fake, like most veneers do. No one even can even tell I have veneers, not even my own family or people I have known for years. But my teeth look so much better! He has an aesthetic that cannot be taught. He is an artist as well as a great dentist. He is also very fair and honest, and I trust him completely. I see that Eddie Z. had a very negative comment about Dr. Beshar, but I don’t think that is typical. Dr. Beshar is lively, funny, and very friendly and talkative, but he also listens and is caring and empathetic. He is a very talented and knowledgeable professional. In addition, all the people who work in the office are wonderful and very friendly, and Dr. Beshar and his office staff use all the latest technology.  Luba the hygienist is gentle yet extremely thorough. Daniel, the office manager, will submit receipts to your insurance for you and remind you of appointments by text, email or phone calls, whichever is your preference. Linda, Dr. Beshar’s assistant, is kind, funny and competent. The office is a very warm and wonderful place! I highly recommend Dr. Beshar.

A WORD FROM YOUR DOCTOR

Dr Beshar’s talents have been featured in many publications including The New York Times, INC Magazine, Newsweek, and Working Woman. In 1990, he was awarded a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (F.A.G.D.), an organization dedicated to continuing dental education. He has completed the Aesthetic Dentistry Residency at Louisiana State University, The Dawson Master’s Forum in Florida, and the eight levels of the Kois Center for Restorative Excellence in Seattle, Washington. He has had extensive training in Implant Dentistry at the New York University Implant Training Center, with Dr. Carl Misch of The Misch International Implant Institute, with Dr. Norm Ickert at the Ickert Dental Implant Centre, with Dr. Keith Phillips and Dr. John Kois at the Kois Institute as well as many other courses in bone grafting and computer generated technology to aid in implant placement. Besides teaching at the Pankey Institute and The Kois Center, he has lectured at NYU, Columbia Dental School, and local study clubs. He is the founder and currently the President of the Manhattan Kois Study group and the Past President of the Columbia Study Club. He regularly attends meetings and teaches courses to other dentists.
