Dr. Garlington is the best, most honest and professional orthodontist in the area. His office is new and all of the eqipment is new and state of the art. There is even a high tech equipment sanitizing room! From the floors to the walls to the furniture in his office, one can tell it was sylistically designed with an eye toward patient comfort and enjoyment. The staff is curteous and professional and very well trained. One can tell that Dr. Garlington invests time and training dollars into making sure each assistant who works with a patient is 100% confident and knowlegable in orthodontic procedures. He gave my children honest advice about braces. He took the time to explain to me when and if each of my children would need braces in the future. I appreciated his honesty and explanation, which is not something often found in the industry. My sister got Invisalign by Dr. Garlington and her teeth look spectacular. My husband is now considering Invisalign because of the results he has seen from my sister. Dr. Garlington is the ONLY orthodontist I would take my family to see and the ONLY orthodontist I would recommend to others.

Read this review to the end. You will thank yourself if you do. Dr. Garlington is a top 1% provider for a reason. He is very knowledgeable and competent and makes you feel it when you have your consultation all the way through treatment. He has top notch customer service, great staff, a nice office, ALSO I shopped around and got quotes from three doctors who weren’t as knowledgeable, personalble, or have as nice of a place as Dr. Garlington. AND GUESS WHAT??? He was CHEAPER by OVER 1500 bucks! Talk about value for your money!!

I started going to Dr. Garlington in 2014 when I realized my teeth were not looking their best. I wish I could say this was my first orthodontist visit…but it wasn’t. I had braces in high school, had them removed early, and never wore my retainer. Way to be responsible, huh? I Yelp’d orthodontists that specialized in Invisalign in my area, and came across Dr. Garlington and am so happy to have found him. I have had such a positive experience with him and his staff. They are all so incredibly nice and accommodating. The whole Invisalign process has been great and easy. They walked me through every step so I was always in the loop. I just finished my treatment and I am so happy with my results. I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Garlington and his staff. Highly recommend!

My son and I have been coming to this office for six years and it just occurred to me that I have not reviewed them. I cannot say enough good things about this office. It is very well run and the staff is friendly and efficient. Multiple other professionals attend this office for Care. He offers Invisalign and is a USC orthodontist graduate. Most important is that Dr. Garlington is a cheerful, thoughtful, caring, talented orthodontist. They are prepared for any eventuality and we started here because of their ability to handle an orthodontic emergency. He follows up with patients and works with our regular dentist. There is even coffee and water in the lobby!

Many members of my immediate family and my extended family are patients of Dr. Garlington Orthodontics and we are all very pleased with all of the services offered, the friendly and competent staff and the state-of-the-art office. We love his services so much that we drive from Orange County to his office. I appreciate very much that the office runs ON TIME with appointment scheduling, not leaving us to wait in the lobby for long periods of time. My husband and I both have Invisalign and we have been very pleased with the experience and the results so far. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law also have Invisalign from Dr. Garlington’s office. He even employs an Invisalign representative who follows each patient’s treatment and assists with any questions we have about our Invisalign treatment. My niece, who is a junior in high school, got her Dr. Garlington braces off two years ago and her teeth are absolutely beautiful and she receives compliments all the time on her smile. My youngest son has been monitored for a while since he had too many baby teeth to fall out, but he will be getting his Dr. Garlington braces on very soon. Absolutely, hands down, the best professional practice I have ever visited. My kids are both patients with traditional braces and I am currently going through Invisalign. Its an absolute pleasure to visit their office. The facility feels brand new and is nicely appointed, the staff is top-notch in terms of friendliness and more importantly knowledge and ability. I was visiting Long Beach from out of state and had an urgent orthodontic issue (coiled wire was severely bent, didn’t stick out) the day after Christmas. All orthodontic clinics around the area (including Los Angeles) were either closed for the holiday or refused to see me because I was not their patient. I couldn’t go back to my orthodontist in Montana because my husband and I were already en route to Japan for our permanent move. Out of frustration, I asked my husband to just straighten the wire with a long-nosed plier (BAAAAD IDEA) because the pain was just too much. However, the plier didn’t work; my husband knew better not to mess with my orthodontic treatment. So I was in pain for 3 days until I found the office of Dr. Garlington online. Although I am not a patient of their practice, the staff recognized (unlike all the other clinics I called) that I needed immediate care. Dr. Garlington’s staff is very accommodating. I was seen the same day I called, and my issue was resolved promptly. I truly appreciate Dr. Garlington for taking the time to see me that day even though I was an add-on to their post-holiday schedule. Had it not for the whole team, I would’ve been in pain until we arrived in Japan 2 weeks later. Although I have only been to the clinic once, I can say that Dr. Garlington cares for all the patients that he sees. Thank you so much again and kudos to the whole staff! I can’t say in words how much I truly appreciate what you’ve done.

Their office is state of the art and I feel like the don’t just “work around” my schedule and the kids’ school hours, but that they bend over backward to accommodate our scheduling needs. What a beautiful office. I already feel at ease here! The women behind the counter were super friendly which also put me at ease. I was able to see the Dr. interact with other patients and he was kind and caring and personable. I’m already impressed. When it was my turn to be seen I was taken into an office with a nurse and they gave me a REAL DEAL exam. He called out some dental talk and she the same. These people are professional and know what they are doing! WHEW! We spoke about what he can do for me and low and behold, it’s right on target with what my previous ortho had planned too. He even said, ” I’m a professional and can handle any situation”. I even asked him, “so you don’t think I need jaw surgery or teeth removed?” He point blank said “no, we can correct this with a thicker wire and bands.” (insert angels singing). I left the office with a clear, printed explanation of payments and an appointment to start my treatment! I couldn’t be happier. (See previous review as to why). Side note, it appears that yelp has hidden a bunch of 5 star reviews, but trust me, this is the kind of place you want to get your braces from! First class all the way!

I first met Dr. Garlington approximately 12 years ago when my oldest child (now 23) needed braces. Since that time, both of my other children have had orthodontia – one with conventional braces, and the other with Invisalign. Topping it off, my wife wore braces within the last few years, and I am finishing up a stint with Invisalign to correct drifting since I had braces as a young man. Five of us, all treated with the utmost professionalism by Dr. Garlington and his entire staff – over many years. My dad was a dentist for many years, and he had the good fortune of joining us on one of the visits a few years back. My dad mentioned that he was very impressed with Dr. Garlington’s approach and ability to “listen to his patients.” I have come to trust Dr. Garlington without exception. He is straight-forward, and his staff is very easy to work with – from scheduling appointments to financial arrangements. While I am sure that there are many qualified Orthodontists in the LA/OC area, I personally would recommend Dr. Garlington to anyone that I know. Three of my kids were treated by Dr. Garlington and his lovely staff. After Paying off their accounts I thought why am I not getting my teeth redone. I had braces for years as a kid, but into my 40’s I wasn’t pleased with the shifting of my teeth. Dr. Garlington and ALL of his staff are truly phenomenal. I highly recommend them to everyone I know, and in talking to others who have braces through other orthodontists, they definitely give more personal and professional care than some others. From their new high-tech, gorgeous office, to the personalities and professionalism of the staff, I’m lucky that they are treating me, again! Not only do I have experience with his office as a teen, but I’m a return customer! As a teen, I had braces (phase 1 and phase 2). Braces, rubber bands, headgear, positioner, retainers – you name the contraption, I had it. My teeth were beautiful when I was done! Due to not wearing my retainers, being a tongue thruster, and the position of my jaw, my teeth moved and I wanted them to be perfected. With such a great experience as a kid, I went right back to Dr. Garlington. He was very detailed and gave me all of my options, with no pressure whatsoever. Since one of my options was jaw surgery, he encouraged me to not make a quick decision, but really look at my options and go through the surgical consultation first. He was also very knowledgeable about my insurance and knew that they were one of the only companies that covered my type of surgery. I’ve been in braces for a year and 2 months, and had my surgery 2 months ago. Dr. Garlington and his staff have been incredibly supportive, helpful, and personable through this entire process. They seem just as excited to see me as I am them! I truly look forward to each appointment, knowing that I am one step closer to my perfect smile. I never leave there with questions – they explain everything as they work, and Dr. Garlington talks to me at each appointment. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Garlington and his staff. They are very friendly, caring, knowledgably, professional, gentle and keep the cleanest office I have ever been too. Their new facility is very modern and family friendly. I have always needed braces but I was unable to get them because I needed surgery. I had gone to other orthodontists to get their opinion but no one seemed to really explain to me what was needed, or be sensitive to the fact that as an adult this would be a very difficult decision to make. Dr. Garlington took the time to explain everything; he went over every detail of my procedure (more than once). He made me feel comfortable enough to get the surgery and get my braces. His staff was very carrying, attentive and always excited to see my progress. They made me feel like family. 3 years later I now have a beautiful smile and can not thank them enough. Everyone at Mark A. Garlington D.D.S. looks forward to welcoming you to our orthodontic family and starting you on the path to a stunning smile you'll love to share with the world! I think that I have always wanted to be an orthodontist. From my earliest memories, I have always been intrigued by faces and smiles and teeth. I was born in Saudi Arabia, and as a child lived in several foreign countries where my father worked on oil refineries. Every two years, when we would travel back to the USA for vacation and visa renewal, the very first doctor my mom and dad would have us see was the dentist for cleanings and fluoride treatment! After traveling so much in my early life, my family finally settled in Southern California. It was during the time that I spent having my own orthodontia done that I fully decided that becoming an orthodontist was my career path. I knew I wanted to pursue something in healthcare, and my orthodontist was always so happy and engaging and it truly looked like he loved his profession. I also decided that when I eventually started my own practice I was going to find a great community and become engaged and involved in that community. I graduated UCLA with a BA in Biology and received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from USC in 1984. I completed my residency in orthodontics at USC in 1986. While I was at USC, I met an orthodontist who was looking to sell his practice in Long Beach. I fell in love with the city and have lived and practiced here ever since. My daughter Meghan graduated Wilson High School here in Long Beach and attended Long Beach City College. I am currently on my third office location within the city of Long Beach. My wife and I are involved with several community programs including the YMCA, BLAST, LBCC Foundation, Rotary, and Rancho Los Amigos Hospital. I also try to donate generously to the schools in Long Beach, knowing that those children are the future. When I am not going to some kind of meeting or fundraiser, you can find me on the golf course, which is my only other true passion besides orthodontics! Professionally, I have always strived to be at the top of my field as a practicing orthodontist. I became board certified shortly after starting my practice and am a member of the Edward H. Angle Orthodontic Society and the American Association of Orthodontists. My team and I constantly pursue continuing education to stay on top of our profession because we know that learning never stops and that our patients always deserve the very best we can give them. We are especially proud of the fact that, in just a few short years, we have become the leading provider of Invisalign® in the Long Beach area and one of only 20 offices in North America that were involved with market testing Invisalign for use in early (Phase I) treatment. I think the one thing for me that is the most rewarding aspect of my profession is all the many lives I may have influenced, much like the way my own orthodontist influenced my life. A beautiful smile is captivating, warm, and friendly. It shows self-confidence and self-esteem. I have seen so many of my young patients grow up and become amazing adults and it makes me feel so happy that I may have been a part of that transformation. I truly feel blessed to have the opportunity to touch so many lives and have so many wonderful children and adults to interact with every day.
