I hate going to the dentist! The pain I imagine is much worse than it really is. I’ve had one dentist prescribe Valium and tell me to take it before my appointment.  Dr. Ma May Thet Naing is WONDERFUL! I’ve been seeing her now for several years and no longer need Valium. Last week she extracted a wisdom tooth and I didn’t even need to take a pain pill. I kept waiting for the pain but I never had any.  Dr. Naing will be my dentist for life.

I’ve been going here for years and I feel very comfortable with them, which is saying a lot for a dentist! I’ve got bad teeth genes and really do need to floss every day. I was told more than 10 years ago by a dentist that I needed 6 crowns (not May Valley, of course) and haven’t gotten any, thanks to my Sonicare toothbrush, flossing, and May Valley. Heck, I’ve sometimes come in with bite pain or sensitivity, afraid that THIS WILL BE THE DAY that I finally need those crowns. They take the x-ray, poke around a bit, then tell me they don’t see any decay and that it’s probably from stress. One time, one of my front teeth (one I know that I’ll need a crown for eventually) had bite pain and when I told May, she reinforced it with some material in the back, instead of telling me I needed a crown ASAP. Needless to say, I trust that she won’t overtreat me. If a filling is shallow, she won’t use local anesthetic and I’ve been fine. (And when I do need it, she does that well too! I once was seated adjacent to an older lady getting a crown, and she had absolutely no idea what they were doing, because the anesthetic was so good. May had to explain exactly what they did and were going to do next.) Yes, she has recommended deep cleanings with antibiotics, filling replacement, mouth guard, and veneers for me, but you can say no and they won’t pressure you into it. I mean, if I’ve come in with bite pain and a lot of fillings, I would think I’m pretty ripe for being persuaded into getting crowns, but nothing on that from May yet. You have to know your situation. As for the low reviews that observe an impatient staff, my observation is that not every staff member’s first language is English. I’m Asian and the direct, almost brash behavior is fairly typical for someone from Asia whose first language isn’t English. Also, keep in mind that first-generation Asians are often clueless about mental illness (a well-noted cultural thing), so if you’re sensitive to that, it’s probably best not to come here. All in all, May and her hygienists do their jobs well, and I will continue to come here as long as I possibly can.

I have been with Dr. Naing for more than 10 years! I have introduced all my family members to her because she’s great at what she does. She’s an incredible dentist. I have always had a fear going to dentist but having to met with Dr. Naing and her staff, my fear is no longer there. She’s knowledgeable, gentle, and very customer oriented! I promise you will not be disappointed. Also, the staff is great too! They have answered all my questions and are super friendly! Thank you for your incredible service.

I have one of the most irrational fear of dentists that anyone could have.  The dentists here are gentle and take care of you! Each chair is well separated to give you the feeling of a private room even though there are no doors. Also, each patient has a personal screen in front of them to watch TV on. This really helps to keep my mind busy as the dentist drills, pokes, or cleans my teeth. I personally also tightly hold the remote control at the slightest feeling of pressure. This is something I would expect to see in a really expensive dental office in West LA or Beverly Hills. You can expect a little wait even though you’ve made an appointment, but it’s worth it. The staff is also bilingual in Spanish and Chinese to help those limited English speakers.

Giving them 5 stars!!! Very clean office, all the workers were very sweet and gentle. Made sure I was comfortable the whole time and they got me in the same day, actually called and they told me to come right on in. Had excruciating pain in my gums and face, by the time I walked out I was pain free, smiling and laughing. So once again thank you all so much!! Truly can’t wait to go back.
