My sister found Dr. Chu (a fellow ex-UCLA Bruin) online for some cosmetic dental work on a whim and had a great experience with her. Before my sister referred me to Dr. Chu, Dentists (in general) scared the living hell out of me. Needles, drills, suction machines, sour pastes, and smells of death…. eck~!!! After neglecting my teeth for more years than I care to mention publicly here, I finally sucked it up and made an appointment.  It was literally the best thing I’ve done for myself this year by FAR. First of all, her office is a cozy hole in the wall that DOES NOT STINK like decay.  It is clean, modernized, and very “zen” with a soothing mini-fountain at the front desk. Second, she took the time to actually call my insurance company to find out how much “service” is covered under my plan and TOLD me beforehand exactly how much I would co-pay out of MY pocket… AND she told me in a very realistic manner WHAT procedures I would need to have done right away and what I “could” put off until I can afford it, etc. So I knew she’s looking out for my best interest when she made such recommendations… a.k.a she keeps it real. Lastly, she does a VERY good and thorough job. Dr. Chu is VERY gentle and a perfectionist (in a good way) when it comes to your teeth. Also, her technique of “shaky shaky the cheeky cheeky” lidocane injection is the next best thing to being completely knocked out unexpectedly. She always takes the time to answer my MANY stupid questions without making me feel like a complete idiot. Also, she really understands what you mean when you say “I don’t want to feel A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G!!!!” and guess what? She delivers! You can tell she really loves being a dentist. I would recommend her to anyone who’s got kids (she’s got lots of pediatric experience), or badly neglected teeth who need a good deep cleaning job, and/or anyone else who is terrified of dentists…. she will help you overcome your anti-dental anxiety issues! If she can convert me, she can convert anyone! Now, I am confident that I will be able to take my OWN set of teeth to my grave… what an awesome goal in life.

Husband and I have been her loyal patient for about 6 years or so. She is compassionate, caring and honest — she will not do procedures you don’t need, guaranteed. I started going to her office after I had a not-so-great experience with Dr H.Hakimi (from smile center), I’m surprised he has many positive reviews. My teeth have never required any work done (except wisdom teeth removal), no cavities, they are almost perfect (or so I’ve been told by other dentists)…except for the color, they’re not the whitest hahaha. What I liked about Dr Chu is that she doesn’t try to sell you products or consistently try to do work on your teeth, work that is not necessary. Most importantly, she makes me feel at ease and she makes sure you’re always comfortable. I feel so lucky I found her! Highly recommend her services

Super courteous and very professional. She has a gentle touch and is careful to make each visit as pleasant as possible. Been going to her for years now and had no issues with paperwork, payment, price, or quality of work

WE LOVE DR. CHU! My family and I have been going to Dr. Chu since she opened her practice. (Well over 10 years) She is very kind, patient, skilled and accommodating. She is also a UCLA grad, which made a big difference for me. We moved to the Corona area 6 years ago and we could not find anyone that compares to Dr. Chu. My kids refuse to go to anyone else, so we make the drive to Artesia for our appointments. You cannot find a better dentist  than Dr. Chu

I chose to see Michelle because of her great reviews. I am SO HAPPY I found her. I have always been terrified of seeing the dentist, all my past visits with other doctors were always traumatic. Michelle is so gentle, didn’t hurt me at all. She explains herself very well, is super professional and I felt like she truly cares about her patients. Her dental assistant is also great. I’m so happy I’ve found my new dentist and would recommend her to everyone!

I have been coming to Dr. Chu’s since high school, my sophomore year 2006. Although I have moved to north los angeles about 50 miles north of cerritos, I still come to see her. She is very professional and recommends the best for her clients. I come in for 6 months cleaning every year and they help with reminders as well. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my teeth

It was our first visit with Dr. Chu. My kids had dental appointments. I was  looking for a Dentist that is great with kids. I found Dr. Chu through Yelp and decided to bring the kids. I am glad I did. Of course, they were anxious about the visit.  As we walked in, we were greeted by Dr. Chu at the front desk and her assistant helped us. Even before I was finished filling out the paperwork, Dr. Chu came and asked if one of the kids can be examined and start the teeth cleaning.  15 minutes  later, my daughter was brought back to be seen.  Dr. Chu is very informative of the children’s dental health and needs. She explained  everything, including the dental insurance coverage. I was so impressed  with Dr. Chu. She was very personable  and the best thing is…the kids loves her. After the visit , they both told me she is kind and they didn’t  feel NO PAIN or discomfort  when she did the teeth cleaning!!! I was so glad! They left the dental office smiling!!! The reviews on Dr. Chu are true and finally found a dentist my kids are happy with. That  makes  me happy! Dr. Chu and her staff are very friendly, personable, and kind

Really love Dr. Chu, she’s patient, kind, my 3 year old needed a filling and she did a great job with her. I had a root canal done, and it was not bad. Husband had a dental emergency, and she called back right away, and was able to fit him in for same day appointment.  Great doc.

I hate going to the dentist. I love Dr Chu. She has even gotten me to come more than once in a few years.   I no longer fear the dentist.    She does a great job at pain control. She even gives my jaw a break during long procedures.  I don’t feel like I am drowning from the water.   This is my normal complaint.  Dr Chu is really very nice and empathetic.   I cant imagine a better dentist for children.   She has small hands and a great personality.  So comforting. I highly recommend going to Dr Chu.   Parking is easy as well

This is a new dentist for me and the family.  I have two small children, 2 and 5.  My 5 year old had xrays done and needed cavities filled.  They did a really good job of making her feel comfortable and even told her a little story explaining how they were getting the “sugar bugs” (cavities) out of her mouth.  She was able to watch a movie while they did the work.  Pretty cool. I recently had a root canal done.  My experience was very good.  She made me feel comfortable and made sure I did not experience any kind of pain.  Dr. Chu explained everything to me from procedure to payment…I don’t feel ripped off when I go there. The office is very clean and the staff is very friendly and professional.  Being that this is a small office, you do some waiting for your procedure if there are multiple patients, but I figure you can’t really be in a rush when you go to the dentist anyway

I am a very nervous dental patient, and Dr. Chu’s reassurance and understanding helped me to relax. She is very sincere, explains all proceedures to your satisfaction, checks on your comfort throughout the proceedures and has been a really painless dentist. I’ve gotten much better about going to the dentist because of her. I’ve recommended friends to her and the ones that have gone to her really feel the same way. I have never recommended a dentist before so my faith in her is very strong. She’s a lovely person and takes a genuine interest in her patients

Dr Chu takes very good care of my parents (83 yrs& 84 yrs). She is very professional and detailed. I am also very happy she can speak English and Chinese both language very fluently. My mother did not feel pain at all when doing the cleaning. Dr Chu also very careful to exam my father’s x rays and teeth. I am so happy to find a dentist we can rely on. Wish more people find her as their dentist

Great dentist, very patient and up-front!  My wife is super-scared of going to the dentist and she made everything easy for her. I just needed a regular cleaning and was very happy with the results.  She got rid of my tea stains without a problem; the last dentist I visited said I needed a deep cleaning to take care of it. Her staff is extremely friendly, as well, and they will make sure everything gets set up properly before your appointment. Update: My wife had some fillings done and it went GREAT.  She is not scared to see the dentist anymore!  Dr. Chu really is amazing.  If you are from Taiwan and familiar with dentists there, realize that Dr. Chu is completely different from your childhood experiences.  She will take care of you every step of the way and work with you to achieve your best smile (as painlessly as possible!

How often have you ever heard of children loving to visit the dentist. I have 3 children. Doctor Chu has been amazing with all 3. to the point where my oldest daughter would bring her a Apple at every visit. She is so gentle that 1 of my children didn’t even realize they had a cavity filled by the time she was finished. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Chu for the invaluable care she has shown to my kids and the rest of my family

I hadn’t been to the dentist in a while and had a semi-emergency. A friend had recommended Dr. Chu. I called her on a weekend, left a message, and she called back within an hour. I saw her first thing the following Monday, and she was very gentle and explained everything, which I really appreciated. Going to the dentist is one of my least favorite things, but Dr. Chu was very nice, professional, and relatively painless. Her assistant and receptionist are also really nice and the office is very clean

During this pandemic, both my parents have been to visit Dr Chu on separate occasions. The measures being taken during this pandemic are so admirable. The doctor does not have an active waiting room and only takes one patient in the office at a time. She has you come prepared with your own pen, even a coat for the chilly air conditioning in the office! She is always gentle and kind and so concerned about her patients. Dr Chu is super competent, has helped the oral health of my entire family as well as a real comfort: my mom has always had a hard time going to the dentist due to fear but Dr Chu was so gentle and understanding that I don’t foresee us changing our dentist ever again!

Looking for a new dentist is like pulling teeth.  I had a cool dentist in Cerritos but he closed up shop few years ago and I just stopped going to the dentist all together because that’s how much I hate looking for a new one.  It’s such a gamble whenever you go to a new place.  Even the ones with good reviews may not click with you because health is a such a personal thing. I was finally forced to find a new dentist because I had such a bad experience recently with my wisdom teeth extraction by an oral surgeon at another office.  Some of my nerves got damaged during the extraction which left a numbing/tingling sensation in my lower lip area.  I just wanted to get checked out to make sure there aren’t any other problems with my teeth or gum because I wasn’t able to track down the oral surgeon that worked on my extraction.  He closed up shop shortly after my procedure.  Sounds kind of shady, right? I chose Dr. Chu based on the positive reviews on Yelp.  Although there were other dentists with more positive reviews, Dr. Chu sounded more competent and caring.  Actually, that’s a lie.  I chose her because her office is across the street from Belly Bombz.  By the way, don’t trust the iphone map.  It makes it look like the office is right next to Belly Bombz.  I almost went to the wrong place because there is another dental office right next to Belly Bombz.  Dr. Chu’s office is across the street in the Stater Bros shopping center, just slightly east of Stater Bros.  Sign says UR Dental. Other reviews are pretty accurate..  Dr. Chu is gentle and has a very calming voice.  Even though she had to break some bad news to me, she did it in a reassuring way so I wouldn’t go paranoid.  She just has the right tone and personality.  But it’s not just her personality, she has the brains to go with it as well. She is very analytical, competent, and intuitive.  She took her time analyzing my x-ray and shape of my teeth, and explained everything thoroughly.  I was very impressed.  She probably spent at least half hour just explaining things to me.  I don’t think I got more than 10 minutes with other dentists. Dr. Chu noticed I was grinding my teeth based on hairline cracks on few of my teeth and missing enamels on top of my bottom teeth. I’m not even sure how she saw those hairline cracks because they are very difficult to see.  She’s got some sharp eyes.  This was my first bad news but she said it’s mainly due to stress so I can manage it my controlling my stress level.  I know this is much easier said than done so she said the other option is to wear a mouthpiece when I go to sleep at night.  I like the fact she pointed out the root of the problem and not forced me to buy the mouthpiece, she just presented it as an option.  I think other dentists probably would’ve recommended getting some fillers or crown for the hairline cracks on my teeth but Dr. Chu thought that might be too excessive at this point. I also had to get deep cleaning done but it wasn’t too painful. Dr. Chu did the cleaning herself, not her assistants or other associates.  Instead of getting numbed out I just went with numbing gel on my gum and I barely felt a thing.  However, I think this is because I had deep cleaning done in the past so my gum may have gotten used to it. On a positive note, Dr. Chu mentioned the bones by my wisdom teeth extraction sites all healed nicely and there weren’t any damage to my gum near those area.  She even said the numbing/tingling sensation may eventually heal based on sensitivity test and how I’m moving my mouth.  Cool deal. I’m pretty impressed with Dr. Chu from my first visit so I will continue going back to her and will recommend her to my wife as well since she also needs to find a new dentist.   I was also impressed with Cynthia, the lady at the front desk.  I think it’s really important to have a good person at the front desk since they are the ones that first come in contact with patients.  Just from talking to her on the phone I had a good feeling about this place.  She sounded caring and tried her best to get me the earliest Saturday appointment.  I was originally scheduled for two Saturdays from the day I called but she moved the schedule around to get me in on the first Saturday.  I’m not sure if she has training in dentistry but she sure sounded pretty knowledgeable when I spoke to her on the phone.  I almost thought she was the dentist. After every dental visit, I can now go across the street and eat some Belly Bombz.

I have never been happy to see the dentists. Dr chu is the best dentist I’ve ever met. She is very friendly. I love the way she treated her patient so honestly. Our whole family has been seeing Dr. Chu for the past five years. She is a great dentist and her office is very neat. Each time she explains everything very clearly to us, including the insurance coverage and our options. At first we thought she was not a pediatric dentist so we took our daughter to a children’s dentist group (won’t mention their name) for her first regular checkup but the experience was horrible. That children’s dentist group held a philosophy that kids hate dentists by their nature so they don’t allow parents to go in so that they can finish the job quickly. You can hear children crying from outside and the atmosphere was tense. Yes, they do it very fast. In about five minutes my daughter got out, still crying. Later we switched her to Dr. Chu and she was so patient and nice to our daughter (four years old). After she explained every step to her, our daughter went through a whole half hour procedure (to fill a little hole) without a sound. We were so impressed! Ever since then, going to see the dentist becomes a positive experience for the whole family and our daughter never said no. I would recommend Dr. Chu to anybody.

It’s rare to go to a dentist who truly shows passion for the work they do. Dr.Chu is patient, caring, and most of all AMAZING at breaking down dental vocabulary in a way that makes making decisions much easier! Definitely go to her if your looking for a gentle and genuine dentist! Also, the office is clean and the dental assistant was nice and did my X-rays in thee most comfortable way! Glad I finally found a new but amazing dentist!

As you can see from my previous review, I have been coming here for several years. My son turned 5, and I decided to switch him from his pediatric dentist to Dr. Chu. Dr. Chu was great with my kid. She was patient and very encouraging. My son liked her and her staff. We had a great experience

If the very idea of going to the dentist paralyzes you with fear, Dr. Chu is the dentist for you.  Normally when any dentist talks to me, tears run silently down my face.  I can’t control it – it just happens.  It doesn’t even matter what they’re saying because it happens even when they just say Hello, how are you.  Clearly I have not had pleasant past experiences with dentists. Dr. Chu is super nice and extremely calming.  Her numbing method is pretty painless and she talks you through it, almost distracting you from the fact that she’s puncturing your gums so she can inject stuff into them.  On top of that, her staff is great, you don’t wait past your scheduled appointment time and they give you a free toothbrush kit after your annual cleaning.  I know most dentists do this, but it’s so much better when the dentist is awesome

Dr. Chu is by far the kindest and most patient dentist there is! She explains everything to you so you feel like you are in good hands. She constantly asks if you’re okay and makes sure that you feel no pain at all. She’s not out to get your money, and she’ll give you honest opinions on what’s the best treatment for you. She has a great movie collection as well to keep you distracted. She’s smart and very nice to all her patients
