I’ve always had anxiety visiting dental clinics but with Dr. Nelsen no cap they made feel comfortable and they tried their best to explain the procedure and what’s going on your chart. From the front desk to Dr. Nelsen and his wife to their dental hygienist are all amazing! So I highly recommend them. Btw, I took my husband and my father-in-law there and got their teeth done so yeah these people are amazing!

I had a very excellent experience at Nelson Family Dentistry which exceeded my expectations…they put my anxiety at ease with excellent care as a wonderful staff especially Bridgette…she was so understanding to my situation I appreciate her sweet attitude and at the same time her professionalism. The dentist had great care in taking time and patience with me with as well as Bridgett by reassuring me that my future appointment with them would be a good experience which put mind at ease. Thank you everyone at Nelson Family Dentistry looking forward to my visit with you here in the near future!

the staff at Nelsen family dentistry is the best, they receive you with a smile answer any question with a smile, their staff is great, from the beautiful ladies, to the attentive to detail and making sure they do not make you feel uncomfortable. Mr. Farris came over to greet me even though I was there for just a cleaning. and there is my Hygienist Nikki, she makes me feel at home, knows i fear going to the dentist, but she goes out of her way to make me feel at home, did I mention she is beautiful.

The people at Nelson family dentistry are amazing. I have never experienced such compassionate care. They have gone above and beyond to help me.  Both Dr. John and Dr. Tommy have worked on me.  They are excellent at what they do, but more importantly, they care about people, as do their entire staff.  They are truly committed to helping others.  Go here, and feel the love.

I have been to many dentists in my 51 years (though probably should have gone more often!).  This place is without a doubt the best office I have ever gone to.  I recommend them highly…and to everyone (all ages).  The Nelsens are so good at getting the work done.  They explain everything before it’s done, clearly.  They walk you through procedures before, and during, so the guess and worry is minimized.  They worked with me in setting up a plan to get this mouth back on its feet.  The staff, from the first set up, through the office visits, and cleanings, and surgeries…and even the follow up calls, is so friendly and professional.  I went from being petrified of dentists, to find them to be more than just people….nice people!

i move around A LOT. finding a good dentist is difficult at best. finding a great dentist that you trust and don’t want anyone else to touch your mouth for the rest of your life is a god send. dr. john is my hero. i flew in from arizona just to have him put in my first and only implant; out of pocket. 5 years later and living in pennsylvania, i still get compliments about the implant he placed. it has never given me a problem. what i do have a problem with is finding a new dentist. that’s right it’s been 5 years. i’ve fired 4 dentists in that time. special note here on how much this man cares about his patients: out of the blue i called dr john about a problem i was having with a dentist. professionally and without giving diagnosis; dr john helped me to understand my role as a patient and what i can and should expect from my dentist. he did this due to a genuine concern for my well being, knowing there would be no payment, and that i wouldn’t be making any treks to chico in the near future. in my 40 years on this planet,  and amongst all my wanderings, Dr. John Nelsen is the best dentist i’ve ever had.

I was looking for a primary dentist to help me with a broken tooth and didn’t know where to search. So I googled “dentist” and my search found Nelson Family Dentistry right away. I didn’t know what made this dentist stand out from the rest except that they have won “Best of Chico” for many years. That was good enough for me and I made an appointment. Their office is off the Esplanade and has plenty of parking in the back. I was greeted with an awesome smiling staff that treated me very special. I was impressed with the technology dentistry has evolved into and they explained everything to me. They were even able to squeeze me in for a cleaning! The prognosis on my broken tooth was a root canal which I had to be sent out for. I returned to Nelson Family Dentistry for my crown and had the same pleasant experience. I would agree they are “Best in Chico “ and now I have a new dentist.

From the moment I showed up for this appointment, I was greeted by very personable staff and this continued throughout my appointment. The staff went out of their way to ensure my comfort. Each professional I worked with thoroughly described what they were doing and why, frequently inquiring whether or not I had additional questions. The office was very neat and clean, the view from the rooms was relaxing and the equipment is state of the art. I would absolutely recommend Nelsen Family Dentistry to anyone.

I’ve been seeing Dr. John Nelsen for almost 9 yrs. & wouldn’t consider going anywhere else. I’m even going to try to stay under his care when we move 1 1/2 hrs. away! He has excellent dental expertise, uses cutting-edge technology, has an amazing & engaging personality and genuinely cares about you. You are not simply a patient in his office but, rather, an individual who is important to him and to his staff (who, by the way, are as wonderful as he is). He calls you in the evening after a procedure to ensure you are doing well & to answer any questions. Love him, love his staff!!!!!

Sweet, I get to be one of the horde of 5 star reviews. Best dentist I have ever seen, staff was incredibly nice, Dr. Nelson did an amazing job of making me feel comfortable and not self-conscious about my teeth, which have seen better days lol. Super nice guy, and when I explained I have medi-Cal (which they can’t take) and was paying on CareCredit, he helped me get the treatment and xrays I needed at the absolute lowest cost possible. I’ve always hated going to the dentist, but I absolutely look forward to my next appointment with Dr. Nelson, he is a gangsta! Yes thats a good thing in this case.
