Dr. Shriver and her assistant were absolutely amazing while extracting my wisdom teeth. I got all 4 taken out! I chose to do it local anesthetic, I was nervous a bit, but Dr Shriver was amazing at handling My mouth. I am very grateful to her and her staff. Today is day 4 of my recovery, and I’m feeling great! Not much swelling at all. Pain killers are working just fine.bThank you Dr Shriver and your awesome assistant! I forgot her name 🙁 sorry bout that.

I cannot praise Dr. Shriver and her staff enough for their kindness, professionalism, and empathy. State of the art office, with a serene, calming atmosphere…I am no spring chicken and have had regular dental visits every 3-6 months, primarily for maintenance during the last half a century, so I am not a novice at the dental office. At this point, due to my lack of regular flossing…yes, now I believe it when they say “FLOSS REGULARLY”!, I am having serious problems, not with my teeth, but with my gums. As a result of my not having listened to this crucial advice, I now have a chronic periodontal condition and rapidly losing bone. Went to Dr. Shriver, she did a deep cleaning and scaling, including injecting antibiotic into the deep pockets, some of which are 8-9 ml deep! I did not have to wait even five minutes, the whole procedure took about an hour, and I swear I did not feel a thing! Dr. Shiriver is so sweet, I just wanted to hug her! Going back for crown work and maintenance? ABSOLUTELY!! I have no medical or dental insurance, and Dr Shriver was more than willing to work with me on payment. I also researched the fees for services, and hers are either comparable to others, or less. Sincerely, if you are looking for a dentist in San Diego, I simply cannot recommend this office enough.

Dr Shriver and her team are pretty awesome. I just got my wisdom teeth removed by her. She is strong!🙂 I guess I had some pretty stubborn bottom teeth. I got local anesthetic, and she was awesome. Thank you so much Dr Shriver!! And your assistant was also amazing!

I am just going to say this. I have had an excellent dental history, but had to have a wisdom tooth extracted. The staff and especially the apparent office manager whose name escapes me was so incredibly supportive. Dr. Schriver was so kind. I know I was a bit ‘dramatic’, but everything was so easy. I just had this extracted today and I experienced no pain, minimal feeling and never took any pain medicine. I was in and out in 25 minutes. It is now 9:42 PM of the same day and I am in no discomfort. They were all pros’ all the way and the office is so beautiful. It really doesn’t get better than this and I am a real coward when it comes to any medical procedure. I can not recommend this office highly enough!!!! And NO, they never asked me to post this. I am signing this with my full name, Gary Whitehead.

I first came to Dr. Shriver to have all four wisdom teeth taken out. I must admit I was nervous and was not looking forward to it but Shriver and her staff continued to reassure and make me feel comfortable during the process. I had a very pleasant experience to say the least. Shriver is gentle and always checks to make sure you are comfortable and doing well. She talked to me throughout my wisdom teeth procedure and j couldn’t be happier with the results. I healed very well with no pain afterwards. I am a regular patient of Shriver’s now and it’s because she is very trustworthy, honest and gentle.

I took my mom to Dr. Shriver’s clinic because of a painful inflammation in her gums, after an X-ray taken by Dr. Shriver’s assistant they determined that my mom needed to get a tooth extraction. They handled the case very professionally inspiring confidence in my mom and me. Turns out that my mom’s tooth was broken, so Dr. Shriver had to react to that situation and she also handled that situation calmly and professionally. I would take my mom to Dr. Shriver again. If I need any dental work I will go to Dr. Shriver, so I highly recommend her. PS: there is a paid parking lot in the same building, in case you don’t want to deal with street parking in La Jolla.

I was/am beyond impressed w/Dr. Shriver and her staff. I had a cleaning, x-rays and extraction and felt SO at ease and in such good hands with her. I could tell she cares for each patient and has a passion for what she does and is a true professional and caring individual, and it shows. The office is in a great location, so clean and calm, not like other dental offices I have been to in the past. The staff is professional and comfortable as well. I typically don’t refer doctors and dentists, but I referred her to an out-of-town client who chipped her tooth and Dr. Shriver even agreed to stay later to accomodate her right away. I continue to refer her, because I trust her and she does such a good job. I will be back there, and no matter what ads/referrels come in will stay with her wherever her practice is. (P.S. this is a real, normal, true review).

By far, the best dentist in La Jolla! She was friendly, funny, eased my anxiety, and was very informative. She was patient and answered all of my questions. She was also gentle, but thorough. Although I had to wait a bit because of a surgery before me and it was the receptionist’s first day, the receptionist , the dentist, and the hygienist were really nice and made me comfortable so I didn’t mind.

She was great!! It’s been 7 years since I’ve even been to the dentist and she didn’t make me feel guilty but was encouraging! She was even understanding of my student status reflecting on available funds. She overall exuded a great energy and it was a good experience overall. Would refer to my friends and family.

I bought a Groupon for Dental Cleaning, X-rays, and Teeth Whitening kit here at Dr. Neni Shrivers office. It was so worth it. The front desk ladies were very friendly and got me in pretty quickly after I filled out the necessary paperwork. The dental assistants were also very friendly making sure I was comfortable throughout each process. Dr. Shriver was very kind,  professional, and knowledgeable. Overall I had a pleasant experience and would recommend her.

Dr. Neni Shriver is professional, warm, competent and absolutely lovely to be around. My experience with Dr. Shriver was a surprising change from previous dental visits with my former dentists. Nothing against my previous dentists, they were competent and professional but I still dreaded the dentist’s chair. My visit was fantastic even though I need some repair work. I’m grateful to have found Dr.Shriver!

I am not a hundred percent what went wrong with the people who gave low marks here, I mean, I READ their reviews, and a lot of it seems like speculation or just disgruntled individuals. I am 100% confident in my 5star rating. If you have read any of my other reviews for dentists, you will know that I am a wuss. I am beyond a wuss , look up wuss in the dictionary, BAM! There’s my photo. Seriously tho, I haven’t been to the dentist in…way too long, I’m talking over 12 yrs?! Yikes, sounds even worse when I say it…but like one of the other review said, Dr. Shriver didn’t make me feel awkward, or bad for the condition my teeth were in, and I KNOW they were baaaad. But she was in fact encouraging, and we set up a plan of attack. At no time have I felt like they were trying to take advantage of me or my insurance, trying to milk anything in any way. I have always felt comfortable and confident in her work. I had to have 4, yes, four  extractions done, and I can tell you I DID cry a bit, but again, wuss alert, but when she was done, she told me that a lot of the fear I am experiencing is in my head, and I know this, but then she also told me, ‘..but I get it. I understand ‘.  Oh em gee, I could have started crying again. For her to say that, wether she meant it or not, which I believe she does, that right there instilled more faith in her and her practice than most anything else could. I have been ridiculed by other dentists for being a big baby, which is super embarrassing, you really think I am PROUD of the fact that I am straight up terrified of the dentist?? Noooo. I have even been made fun of by other “professional dentists” IN FRONT of other patience. So for her to say that to me, wow, I can’t tell you just how much that meant. Since then I have been back for numerous fillings etc, that of which, the next day, I have never, NOT ONCE been in any kind of pain, or discomfort from said fillings. I didn’t know that was possible! She works quickly and does a fantastic job as far as I can tell, my bite is fantastic, and I look forward to getting more work done to get my teeth back to being pearly (off ) whites. I might add, the way Dr. Shriver is with her employees, is simply put, wonderful. There is a mutual respect between all of them and it shows. She is funny and not so uptight that she can’t share a laugh with her staff, but when it’s down to business, it is DOWN to business. Anyone who treats their employees as equals, rather than assistants or peons, is most certainly getting extra marks in my book. The communication between all of them, the assistants and/or front end is just great, and they have always worked with my schedule to take care of what I needed taken care of, when I needed it. I need to show up on time tho!!! Sorry!! Anyway, I recommend this  practice one hundred percent, I think she is wonderful, fast, understanding, efficient, effective in her actions, somewhat of a perfectionist, which is great when it comes to myTEETH!!!  And just a really neat person from what I can tell. Go see Dr. Shriver!!.

Office is beautiful. Dental staff was pleasant . I needed a deep cleaning fillings and a crown. I try to get my teeth cleaned on a regular basis, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out w scheduling and work. The office was very good at explaining the treatment to me. Dr Shriver was very gentle with my cleanings and with the crown. She took her time with me when I was nervous. I will be coming back !! highly recommend this office.

I went to see Dr. Shriver yesterday. I had purchased the Groupon a few months back and after a previous bad experience with a Groupon dental appointment I came here to Yelp to see the reviews of Dr. Shriver’s practice. After reading some of the negative reviews about her practice, I had strong reservations and low expectations as I walked into my appointment. I am here to tell all of you Yelpers that my experience was nothing like some of these earlier reviews. The staff at the La Jolla Smile Center were polite, professional, and courteous. Dr. Shriver was genuinely interested in me as a person, my professional life, and I felt I got Five Star quality of care. The warm disposition and consummate professionalism of everyone in the office made this the first comfortable dental experience I’ve ever had. The team at Dr. Shriver’s La Jolla Smile Center gets my personal seal of approval and highest recommendation.
