When my dentist for over 20 years left the island, I never thought I could replace her with anyone who would come close to her attention to detail, incredibly skilled hands, constant use of the latest dentist technology, and friendly connection. Dr. Nina Hayashi has proven to be an incredible dentist, talented, thorough and a lovely person. I could not ask for a better dentist.

I have lived in Florida, New York, Hawaii, Arizona, Japan, China, Guam, Vietnam, etc. I have a vast knowledge regarding quality of care given by dentists. Honestly, Dr Hayashi is the best. Extremely professional and clarifies everything and more importantly … takes her time! Although she is extremely busy, you wouldn’t notice it from the amount of time she spends with you. Staff are very friendly as well. I want my family to fly over here to experience what they have been missing from their dentists! Highly recommended!

My wife and I really like Dr. Nina Hayashi’s and Dr. Hirota’s dental care office.  Their office staff are also very nice and helpful.  Their professionalism is astounding and very much appreciated.  Everything from making appointments to explaining everything being done and the reasons why.  And to the billing and also their timely appointment reminders are very good services.  I highly recommend their office fir your dental care.

It has been seven years since I wrote my first review of this marvelous dentist. You’ll know that you have come to the right place when you see Nina and her staff operating like a well oiled machine.. Plus Nina and her assistant Gina are absolutely delightful people as are the rest of her staff. Actually look forward to my appointments

I believe there are 5star reviews for her infamous method of numbing patients up. But for me it is her brains, attitude, and the quality of care she brings to the table as seen through the detailed plan of approach she had with me. She has a great network of specialists that I was referred to which was an ASAP appointment kind if situation for me, and I would have to say, that speaks volume as a kind of DDS that Nina is. I use to hate the dentist and now I can say that it is easy to sit in a dental chair! Thanks to Nina and her team!!

Love Dr Hayashi and her staff !! Ive been going here for the past 20 years !!! She has the best bed side manners and her staff is AMAZING , always so friendly and they make you feel like family !!  I’ve recommended this place to more than 20 family and friends that tried this place and has never left !!! I’m telling you this is the BEST DENTIST OFFICE HAWAII HAS TO OFFER !!

Best. Dentist. Ever. Dr. Nina Hayashi is caring, very quick, listens well, and makes adjustments according to your fears. Mine is pain and drilling – she lets me know ahead of time (so I can plug in my headphones and not hear!) and gives me the novocaine as needed. I have a high metabolism and the it wears out quickly for me – but Dr. Hayashi believes in no pain – and if it starts to wear off, I let her know and she is very careful. First ever dentist that has numbed the spot that the novocaine needle goes in at the gum line, and also, first dentist that puts a moisturizer on my lips so they don’t crack when they keep your mouth open. I think they must also have noted on my chart that I’m always cold. I always wear a jacket to the dentist, but they usually offer me a blanket if needed – which I appreciate. I get a lot of explanations from the hygienists about what is going on with my teeth and gums and the best way to prevent any additional visits to the dentist.

I love, love, love Dr. Hayahsi and her staff! She’s great at explaining why she does things and doesn’t do unnecessary dental work, which I appreciate. She’s always taken time to talk to me at each appointment and takes the time to answer questions, although I’m sure she’s super busy. Despite this, I’ve never felt rushed as I have with other dentists. I also totally trust her with mine and my family’s dental needs.

Dr. Nina Hayashi is simply the most experienced, thorough, kind and trustworthy dentist I’ve ever met. I first started seeing Dr. Hayashi in the 90s when I was going to high school. Even back then, she had already adopted the latest technology to show me my xrays and photos of my teeth on a digital screen. I was impressed with how well she would explain dentistry terms and procedures in a clear, easy to understand manner that put me at ease. She even wrote hand-written thank you notes whenever I’d refer a friend! Besides her manner, I like that she takes a conservative approach when it comes to dental work. Unlike other dentists who want to force fillings and expensive mouth guards on you, she analyzes your situation, lays out the possible degrees of treatments, and gives you her honest opinion. I have a lot of between teeth pre-cavity formations, but instead of drilling, Dr. Hayashi prescribed flouride toothpaste that over time kept my cavities from forming and not having to be drilled! I now live in San Francisco and had been going to the same dentist here for several years. When he retired, I signed up with a new dentist who told me I needed a laundry list of procedures including fillings and a crown. Luckily, I was going to be in Honolulu for a wedding and Dr. Hayashi agreed to fit me in for a second opinion–and free of charge. She did a thorough exam, taking photos with her nifty in-mouth camera and took the time to go over the other dentist’s recommendations with me one-by-one! After seeing Dr. Hayashi, I felt an enormous sense of relief. There are not many dentists in this world that make you feel like you can completely trust them. It is Dr. Hayashi’s thoroughness, immense knowledge of dentistry, and her professional, yet warm bedside manner that make her a truly special find. The dental assistants are a reflection of Dr. Hayashi’s high level of standards and so is the sleekness of the office operations. 5-stars all the way!

As a former dental assistant I can honestly say that Dr. Hayashi is by far the best dentist I have come across. I never worked with her, but in the past, I worked with several dentists at various offices. Once I quit the dental assistant gig I knew more about what dentist do than I wanted, which left me with a problem. Who to trust? The one dentist who’s work I knew to be of high quality retired and left me high and dry. So here I was a former dental assistant afraid to go to the dentist! Fear and a sore tooth made me bite the bullet and I started to look for a replacement. Not wanting to play Russian roulette with my teeth, I asked around. A referral from a friend and a subsequent visit left me even more anxious. Finally, I threw caution to the wind and “yelped” it. I am so glad I did! Dr. Hayashi is extremely professional, patient and covers all aspects of dental care more throughly than any other dentist I have known. It wasn’t “fast food syndrome” it was an actual caring and nurturing and educational environment. I was completely impressed with her training and her techniques as well as her staff and office procedures. Her staff is very warm, comforting and helpful. She is absolutely amazing and I can only hope she is not retiring anytime soon.

I was needing to find a new dentist after being with my pediatric dentist for far too long. I found Dr. Hayashi on Yelp, saw the stellar reviews, and knew I wanted her as my new dentist. She is, thankfully for me, located in the Ala Moana area which is much more convenient than going downtown where most of these kinds of establishments are located. Parking has been easily available for me since it shares parking space with an Ala Moana parking area. Upon walking into the office, there are some very kind women behind the front desk. Sompa, who is one of these women, is very kind. She always has a smile on her face and is very welcoming. I was surprised that she remembered me and greeted me by name the second time I came in. She even greets my boyfriend, Alan, by name! I appreciate this very much from Sompa and we don’t feel awkward coming in. There is no sign-in sheet or device; they greet you by name and you’re somehow automatically signed in that way. There are snacks, coffee, and water to enjoy in the front while you wait for your appointment. Dr. Hayashi has the most gentlest touch and is so kind. I have had a long-held fear of going to the dentist because I’ve associated the dentist with being the harbinger of bad news and pain. She was quick to point out some issues with old fillings that had to be fixed; one of these required a crown. There were some issues with getting the crown to be the right color and shade. Each time I came in to get the crown placed, it was too dark for my, apparently, white teeth. Note that this was not the fault of Dr. Hayashi’s office, but of the lab that specializes in the creation and coloring of crowns and such. Dr. Hayashi would show me what the crowns looked like when placed in its spot and how the color looked off. Dr. Hayashi told me that she thought of it this way: If I was her daughter, would she feel proud to put in a crown that was too dark? She was not satisfied with the color and didn’t want me to be constantly reminded that the crown is too dark for my teeth each time I smiled if she had put it in. In the meantime, she redid the other old filling. She knew how I felt about getting numbed in my mouth and how my old dentist was insensitive to how I felt about pain. She said her claim to fame was how she numbed her patients. Oh my goodness, I barely felt a thing! Wow! She rubs some of the numbing solution over the injection spots first, then injects a little bit in each spot, then goes back and injects the rest. It takes longer but there is little to no pain with her method and I don’t mind one bit. Eventually, the crown was made to be the right color and she was way more satisfied this time around. She was so excited for me to no longer be self-conscious when I smile because now it just looks like a real tooth and no more black filling showing. She has been patient with me when it came to all my questions and was very kind to explain things to me. I wish I had left my pediatric dentist earlier to see her instead, I wouldn’t have cried in pain all those years if I had seen her sooner. I have no regrets coming to Dr. Hayashi as my new dentist and am grateful for her kindness and gentleness.

Dr Nina Hayashi and staff are awesome and friendly. I love how they make you feel welcome and also make you feel comfortable. I love having conversations with the staff and especially  with Dr Hayashi. Thanks Doc for always making sure I floss my teeth. Lol.

Dr. Hayashi has been our dentist for a few years now, and my only regret is that we did not find her years earlier.  Dr. Hayashi has not only greatly improved my teeth and general dental health, but she has also taken great care of my wife and children as well.  Her professionalism, expertise, and thoroughness are unmatched.  Coupled with Dr. Hayashi’s compassion and dedication to her patients, she is truly special.  She has dedicated herself to be the best dentist that she can be, and worked diligently to keep up with all of the latest developments in dentistry, while at the same time always striving to hone her skills.  She is a truly gifted dentist and I would highly recommend Dr. Hayashi to anyone without any hesitation whatsoever.

A friend referred me to Dr Hayashi about 5 years ago and I’ve been her patient ever since. She is kind, sweet, gentle, explains things well to me at my visits so I understand what’s going on, and always asks me how my two boys are doing 🙂 Once, she had to drill into my tooth because I had a cavity. I hate when they have to inject my gums with a needle to numb it. OUCH! Anyway, I started freaking out just before she tried to inject me and started hyperventilating. So she stopped, put the needle down and told me to take deep breaths and to imagine a calm scenery (I forgot exactly what it was she said) Then reassured me that she won’t hurt me. She took her time to calm me down; about 5 minutes. She asked me if I was ready, then proceeded. I FELT NO PAIN! That’s actually her “claim to fame.” Then, she put something in my mouth to keep it open for me the whole time. I actually fell asleep almost the whole procedure! Like I said, Dr Hayashi was very gentle. I also like the fact the she has dental hygienists there that take their time during your 6 month cleanings. It’s a 50 minute appt. Her front desk staff is also very friendly and courteous…always!

She has been my Dentist for over 20 years & I’m very happy with her technique, friendliness & caring . I went to Hawaii Family Dental clinic about 20 + years  ago with a tooth ache & saw a male dentist who couldn’t find what’s wrong , so I returned the next day , however, the doctor I saw wasn’t around but Dr Hayashi took me. She didn’t stop till she found what was causing my pain , & it was a broken tooth . She planned to save the tooth & was going to do a root canal the following day. She was caring enough to call me later in the day to find out how I was doing & when I told her I was having a lot of pain, she asked me to return before they close & she pulled out the tooth. And the rest is history.

High quality dentistry with a very high personal service.  Dr. Hayashi is an experienced, sensitive dentist who really cares about you as a patient!  I had several fillings replaced and she and her staff made sure the procedures were completed quickly and with as little pain as possible.  Dr. Hayashi also educated me on my filling options and allowed me to choose the option that met my personal needs.  Another plus is that the office staff is wonderful and caring.  Recommend Dr. Hayashi to anyone seeking high quality dental work in a friendly, personalized setting!

I have been going to Dr. Hayashi for a number of years now and will continue to go to her as long as I can.  I have never been more satisfied with a dentist.  Her office is well run and all of the staff are as friendly and helpful as she.  Dr. Hayashi is not only great at her job, she is also genuinely caring about her patients.  My wife is also a patient of hers and she feels the same way.  We are such fans of this office we even referred our niece to this practice and she became a patient here.  I actually look forward to going to the dentist.  My hygienist, Gina is great…gentle, thorough and personable. If you are looking for a new dentist your search should begin and end here.
