I was needing to find a new dentist after being with my pediatric dentist for far too long. I found Dr. Hayashi on Yelp, saw the stellar reviews, and knew I wanted her as my new dentist. She is, thankfully for me, located in the Ala Moana area which is much more convenient than going downtown where most of these kinds of establishments are located. Parking has been easily available for me since it shares parking space with an Ala Moana parking area. Upon walking into the office, there are some very kind women behind the front desk. Sompa, who is one of these women, is very kind. She always has a smile on her face and is very welcoming. I was surprised that she remembered me and greeted me by name the second time I came in. She even greets my boyfriend, Alan, by name! I appreciate this very much from Sompa and we don’t feel awkward coming in. There is no sign-in sheet or device; they greet you by name and you’re somehow automatically signed in that way. There are snacks, coffee, and water to enjoy in the front while you wait for your appointment. Dr. Hayashi has the most gentlest touch and is so kind. I have had a long-held fear of going to the dentist because I’ve associated the dentist with being the harbinger of bad news and pain. She was quick to point out some issues with old fillings that had to be fixed; one of these required a crown. There were some issues with getting the crown to be the right color and shade. Each time I came in to get the crown placed, it was too dark for my, apparently, white teeth. Note that this was not the fault of Dr. Hayashi’s office, but of the lab that specializes in the creation and coloring of crowns and such. Dr. Hayashi would show me what the crowns looked like when placed in its spot and how the color looked off. Dr. Hayashi told me that she thought of it this way: If I was her daughter, would she feel proud to put in a crown that was too dark? She was not satisfied with the color and didn’t want me to be constantly reminded that the crown is too dark for my teeth each time I smiled if she had put it in. In the meantime, she redid the other old filling. She knew how I felt about getting numbed in my mouth and how my old dentist was insensitive to how I felt about pain. She said her claim to fame was how she numbed her patients. Oh my goodness, I barely felt a thing! Wow! She rubs some of the numbing solution over the injection spots first, then injects a little bit in each spot, then goes back and injects the rest. It takes longer but there is little to no pain with her method and I don’t mind one bit. Eventually, the crown was made to be the right color and she was way more satisfied this time around. She was so excited for me to no longer be self-conscious when I smile because now it just looks like a real tooth and no more black filling showing. She has been patient with me when it came to all my questions and was very kind to explain things to me. I wish I had left my pediatric dentist earlier to see her instead, I wouldn’t have cried in pain all those years if I had seen her sooner. I have no regrets coming to Dr. Hayashi as my new dentist and am grateful for her kindness and gentleness.

Dr Nina Hayashi and staff are awesome and friendly. I love how they make you feel welcome and also make you feel comfortable. I love having conversations with the staff and especially  with Dr Hayashi. Thanks Doc for always making sure I floss my teeth. Lol.

Dr. Hayashi has been our dentist for a few years now, and my only regret is that we did not find her years earlier.  Dr. Hayashi has not only greatly improved my teeth and general dental health, but she has also taken great care of my wife and children as well.  Her professionalism, expertise, and thoroughness are unmatched.  Coupled with Dr. Hayashi’s compassion and dedication to her patients, she is truly special.  She has dedicated herself to be the best dentist that she can be, and worked diligently to keep up with all of the latest developments in dentistry, while at the same time always striving to hone her skills.  She is a truly gifted dentist and I would highly recommend Dr. Hayashi to anyone without any hesitation whatsoever.

A friend referred me to Dr Hayashi about 5 years ago and I’ve been her patient ever since. She is kind, sweet, gentle, explains things well to me at my visits so I understand what’s going on, and always asks me how my two boys are doing 🙂 Once, she had to drill into my tooth because I had a cavity. I hate when they have to inject my gums with a needle to numb it. OUCH! Anyway, I started freaking out just before she tried to inject me and started hyperventilating. So she stopped, put the needle down and told me to take deep breaths and to imagine a calm scenery (I forgot exactly what it was she said) Then reassured me that she won’t hurt me. She took her time to calm me down; about 5 minutes. She asked me if I was ready, then proceeded. I FELT NO PAIN! That’s actually her “claim to fame.” Then, she put something in my mouth to keep it open for me the whole time. I actually fell asleep almost the whole procedure! Like I said, Dr Hayashi was very gentle. I also like the fact the she has dental hygienists there that take their time during your 6 month cleanings. It’s a 50 minute appt. Her front desk staff is also very friendly and courteous…always!
