This establishment was incredibly comfortable and the staff were professional and kind. I was particularly impressed with my dental assistant, Edyta. She was charming, knowledgeable and she guided me through my first appointment with grace and poise. Every person there was so welcoming and I am thrilled to say that I have certainly found my dentist in Philadelphia!

Love everything about Philly Smiles. It’s the first dentist that I’ve chosen as an adult and I enjoy my biannual visits. It’s location is right in Rittenhouse Park so it’s convenient if I want to make a day of being in the city. The people at Philly Smiles are so nice and pleasant. Julia from reception has been helpful with appointments, rescheduling and billing. I love Dr. Ames. Even when I had to go through descaling on my first few visits they kept me comfortable and checked in with me often. She didn’t become judgy or berate me for lacking in followup all the years prior and I’ve been maintaining my visits and oral hygiene ever since. They see the effort and acknowledge and reinforce good routines. The office is beautiful. I especially appreciate that during the chilly months there’s a fireplace going in the waiting area as well as one of the hygienists chairs. Had a cleaning done next to a fireplace with a faint view of snow falling outside. I’m so glad I found Philly Smiles and I will continue to be a patient there as long as I live in Philly. Though more expensive than my husband’s dental visits I tell him it’s worth it because it’s a place I’m comfortable, which is rare for a dentist.

Dr Roberts and Dr Ames are incredibly talented and compassionate Dentists. I first met them in connection with an emergency, when they were the only ones who would see me late on a weekend night. Though I no longer live in Philly, I still consider them my primary Dentists, and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a Dentist.

As a new patient of Dr.s Ames and Roberts.I can’t thank you and your staff enough for caring for me at this time of need.I was recently robbed and assaulted.One of my many injuries was to my teeth.After being released from the hospital the Doctors, Ames and Roberts wasted no time in getting me in the office to begin repairing the extensive damages caused from the assault.They required no payment to begin,”explaining to them,I will be out of work for some time and do not have health insurance.”They waived charges,discounted fees and are allowing me to make payments!I Who does this any more!!!!Their work is exceptional.And i am so grateful to be able to Smile,showing my appreciation!I can’t thank the Doctors and staff enough or their compassion and generosity.This is”As good as it gets”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finding a dentist is HARD, so we are so happy we found PhillySmiles. We tried a few other dentists around Philadelphia before we found them. My husband and I both feel so happy with their customer service as well as their meticulous technique. We’ve both had crowns done in the office and the all of the dentists take their time and perform superb work. Definitely recommend them if you want a professional and friendly atmosphere, while also being assured that you are getting top notch patient care.

I must say I’ve been a patient of Dr. Ames and Roberts for years now and even though I was scared to death of dentists, after several dreadful visits in other cities, I look forward to my time at their office. While my fear of dentist has not completely disappeared, Dr. Ames makes it easy for me to sit back and get on with the work of keeping my teeth healthy. I feel at home when I go for my visits. Sally and the entire staff know me and my partner well. We’ve received thoughtful cards congratulating us on an adoption and it’s hard to feel too scared here….even for me. I give anyone who asks two thumbs up on these consummate professionals. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Dr Ames and Roberts have the most beautiful office I have ever seen. The ambiance alone is relaxing and aesthetically pleasing. The staff is extremely nice and always seem happy. Dr Ames and Roberts offer great conversation as well as great service. Dr Ames in particular was very helpful with my issues and went out of her way to make sure I get the max out of my dental benefits. I am so pleased with my experience and I don’t think I will ever go to another dentist again. Besides they are very educated and there’s no need to get a second opinion, they are my second opinion and they are currently fixing another dentist’s mistakes.

Best dental experience I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a lot. Cool office, friendly staff, great music, and the quickest, most precise cleaning I can recall. The doctor even found two cavities that she was able to fill on the spot, without novacaine, and only extended the appointment by 15 minutes. Will definitely be going back. Thanks Dr. Ames!

There is so much good to report here. First of all, the office is gorgeous and festive. Second, the staff are the most friendly and welcoming people in any doctor’s office I have ever been to (and I’ve been to a lot of doctors). Third, and most important, Joe, Katy and Stevie are simply the best dentists I have ever encountered and I’ve been to a lot of dentists. I don’t think anyone really wants to go to the dentist, but Philly Smiles makes you feel like you do. Whether it’s a teeth cleaning or something more serious, I have always felt taken care of and, unlike other dental offices, have never experienced any pain whatsoever here. I didn’t even feel the novocaine needle when Joe numbed me. That’s just insane, but it’s true. They also have the latest technology, which really helps speed things up and gives you the confidence that you’re getting expert attention. Their preventive care is also top-notch. Philly is lucky to have these folks and I am so grateful to be a patient.

Yoooo Philly…love your whiney reviews!! Looks like you just like to moan and groan about having your dirty teeth fixed in a gorgeous office without paying anything. First you ought to try brushing and flossing and stop living on tastycakes. Next you probably ought to realize this office is one of the best gems in your city. If you stop cryin…Ill personally bring these guys up to NYC. At least we know you get what you pay for. Seriously though Ive been commuting to Philly to use use their services for the past 5 years since being reccomended by a friend for an emergency. When I walked in I thought WHOA fancy office I could never afford this – and explained that and they’ve been more than swell in accommodating this income challenged musician. They have a sense of humor too. I’m a die-hard Yankee fan, after your Phils lost to Yankees, they had a red Phillies P tatooed on a way back crown just so I could pull back my cheek and feel nauseous every spring training.

I have been a patient of Drs. Ames and Roberts for 25 years. I enthusiastically recommend them to anyone who needs a dentist. They have taken care of me and my children through the entire spectrum of dental issues, and I trust them both completely. Their office is beautiful, and Sally is wonderful about coordinating appointments and working with my insurance company. This practice is really well run, and the care I have received has been exceptional. I recommend it without hesitation.

I was able to get not only great service but at the last min and it was all recommended by Dr.Ames! They understand your concern and put your thoughts in perspective! Dr. Roberts performed the actual treatment and put my fears of dentist in the back! They not only saved me a lot of money but did it with great care! I recommend this team to everyone and I can tell you I am terrified of dentist and am willing to go back now! I only had first step completed thus far but am confident after my first experience that I am in great hands! Read the reviews and was not bought into it until I was in the chair! Now I am here writing a well deserved great review! I can’t say this enough but they put you first!

I have been going to Philly Smiles for at least the past six years and I always have a pleasant visit. The Dr’s, Dental Assistants and Receptionists are all always kind and upbeat. Overall a very good environment with good music accompanying the experience. I also love how thoroughly my teeth are tended to and I greatly appreciate any advice I’m given on how to keep up with my dental care. They are also taking great precautions in terms of Covid and keeping everyone as safe as possible. I HIGHLY recommend Philly Smiles to anyone seeking an excellent dentist.

Drs.Ames and Roberts and their staff are truly THE BEST. I have been going to them for 20years and this morning I had a dental emergency. They squeezed me in and were compassionate and caring. Dr.Roberts sent me to a specialist the same day and got everything coordinated for me. I will never go to another dentist. Dr. Ames and Dr. Roberts are fantastic and so is the staff. I have seen both of them over the years.  Recently Dr. Roberts worked with me for nearly two years on a complicated issue.  He was there with me every step of the way and he did not push or pressure me on treatment even when he knew surgery was probably the inevitable outcome.  He always took the time to explain what was going on and answered all my questions, even the ones I asked over and over again.  If I needed an emergency fix he got me right in with an appointment asap.  They and the staff are all personable, patient, and caring.  I would recommend Philly Smiles to anyone.

Dr. Ames was the first dentist to make me feel comfortable with dentistry.  Before Dr. Ames, I panicked when I had a problem that required care.  Now, she and her staff have taken such great care of me over the years that I look forward to my periodic checkups (yes!).  I had the onset of periodontal disease, clearly evidenced by spontaneous gum bleeding, diagnosed over 20 years ago.  I was certain I would be wearing dentures by now.  Dr. Ames told me she would not let that happen and she has been true to her word.  I have also seen Dr. Roberts and he is equally awesome.  The team is customer focused, caring and highly skilled in contemporary methods.  I have recommended them to many over the years and all thank me profusely.

I have been going to Philly Smiles for over two years now and I wouldn’t even consider changing my dentist. Dr. Joseph Roberts, Dr. Stevie Roberts and Dr. Ames are all fantastic and extremely competent along with the staff. I have had an abundance of work done including fillings, root canals, and implants. Their work is always spectacular and high quality. They always follow up to make sure I am feeling well and healing properly. They use a great lab and high quality materials. If there are ever any issues, they make sure to address them right away and they are very professional. Julia always makes sure to fit me in the schedule as soon as possible and calls to remind me of cleanings and any work I might need done. This is the best office I’ve ever been to and plan to continue going there even after moving further away. I highly recommend this office and team, you’ll finally stop dreading the dentist and actually enjoy your experience within a great atmosphere.

Soooo I was scared, you probably are too. I was scared about what they would find and nervous about treatment and fearful it would cost a lot. But this office was GREAT!! They took time, explained everything, showed me my choices in treatment and helped me figure out the finances comfotably. Dr. Ames was very professional, warm and funny. I really feel like she cared about getting me healthy. Nitrous helps! …..Follow up visits were just as great. One time I chipped my front tooth , and they told me to come right over. Not next week, that day. I was good as new in less then an hour. Thanks Dr. Ames!!!

So this is not your ordinary dental office. After graduating from child to adult status, I finally found a new dentist and made an appointment here. The beautiful old Victorian home confused me at first, but was a warm distraction and kept me from thinking that I was in a dental office. The modern, sterile high tech dental treatment floor below seems like it shouldn’t fit in this antique building but they have somehow made it work. And most importantly, everything is very clean. I found this office because both doctors were rated top dentists in Philly Magazine. Dr. Ames is my primary dentist though I have had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Roberts in my visits also. (An important note for those who fear needles: make an appointment with Dr. Roberts!!!) I can’t describe how refreshing it is to spend time here and learn about taking care of my mouth. Dr. Ames lights up when you ask her questions and will provide you with all the information you need to maintain a healthy smile. They also play great music and offer headphones (huge perk!).

I have to tell you that I was just browsing though Yelp of all my favorite places to go and was disturbed by a review on here. Dr. Ames and Roberts have been my dentist for more then 8 years and I would not go anywhere else even if I moved out of the area. For many years I jumped around from dentist to dentist just because I just hated to go, did not enjoy my experience, bad bed side manner or lack of expertise. Dr. Ames and Roberts and their Team exceed in all these areas and are great.  They have always given me the best service and guidance on what would be best for me and the direction I wanted to go. As far as their prices go they are extremely fair.  I have a friend who goes to an office I think is kinda dirty and pays the same. This is an office that works very hard on the details, and they have worked with me at times on finances to help me out. How many times do you have to learn ” You get what you pay for”.  If you couldn’t tell, I highly recommend them.

Dr.ames&Roberts have been my family dentist for the last 15 years.They are terrific!!! We feel so comfortable been examined.They are so nice and friendly.We live in South New Jersey and I don’t mind to drive all the way to center of Philadelphia.My 8 years old daughter was very afraid to go to any dentist until I decided to take her to Dr.Ames 2 years ego and my daughter loves to visit her. I recommended this office to anybody looking for quality and family atmosphere.

Whenever I come here they are quick yet efficient. I’m usually in and out. They always make me feel so welcomed. The decor is beautiful. Special thanks to Danita and Sally who always take care of the “business” stuff. The whole staff is great and I have already recommended friends to this practice.
