Dr. Trent Kanemaki is a talented dentist and a great human being. He is the best dentist I’ve had in 40 years. He has a good eye for details and can diagnose issues other dentists can’t see or won’t care to see. Dr. Trent is very gentle and precise with his work. If you want someone to help you with complex dental issues, Dr. Trent is the man to see. If you fear dentists, Dr. Trent and his staff (Ruel and Karen) will make you feel very comfortable and cared for. I often can hear Dr. Randall Kanemaki’s voice in the background and his voice is very soothing. During my visits, I am always laughing and smiling because Dr. Trent has a really awesome sense of humor and he also shares the coolest stories. I’m so grateful that Dr. Trent is my dentist. He fixed a lot of my teeth issues and now I feel so much better and so much healthier! He also practices at Hitomi Dentistry if you’re from the LA area. Go see Dr. Trent Kanemaki-it’ll be one of the best decisions of your life!

I’m so happy I decided to come here! My first visit here was such a positive experience. The staff was extremely friendly and thorough in explaining procedures and giving a breakdown of costs.
Dr. Kanemaki is such a pleasant dentist with excellent bedside manners. He sensed my uneasiness and was also very attentive. He also threw in a bonus – My 2 front teeth were always jagged and I always felt self conscious about it. He said he could fix the issue easily by shaving the jagged edge to make them even. My teeth are so even and straight now~!

I’m a wimp when it comes to going to the dentist so I put off going. BUT, I was suffering from EXTREME wisdom tooth pain on a Sunday and finally made an appointment Monday(…). The receptionist who picked up my call was extremely nice and sympathetic about my discomfort and booked me for an appointment on Wednesday. By Tuesday my neck was swollen and it hurt to do anything! I could barely eat and it hurt so bad to swallow and yawn..painkillers could only do so much and even though I hate taking them, I just couldn’t take the pain. By the time of my appointment on Wednesday I was about to break down because I just couldn’t stand the pain anymore. But the assistant, Karen, was the nicest lady ever and made me feel a lot better. I have the most difficult time taking X-rays because I have a really strong gag reflex. She was so gentle and patient with me throughout taking the X-ray and calmed me down when I would start panicking. Dr. Kanemaki saw to me and knew exactly what to do after taking a look at the x-ray and my tooth. Turns out it wasn’t the tooth that was hurting, but the gum above it because the tooth was still impacted and bacteria had gotten in. He did his magic and most of the discomfort was gone after a day. By Saturday I could eat like normal again! He was extremely gentle and the shot to numb my mouth felt like just a little pinch. He’s also extremely likable and made small talk with me to make me forget about the raging pain going on in my mouth. I’m definitely going here from now on for all my dental concerns because it’s very affordable with insurance and everyone here is so nice! They even sent me a card congratulating me on graduating! I’ve been referring my friends here after my awesome experience(…).

Came here because I had a filling fall out and needed to see what had to be done. I’m a chicken when it comes to the dentist and it always hard for me to make an appointment but I’ve finally found a place where I’m not worried about. Everyone from the front staff to the dental assistant to the DR’s themselves are great. What really struck me the best is how they explain everything in detail of what they are doing and how/why. WoW, this is a class A dentist practice, I had to have a few things done and they worked with my insurances to maximize my coverage and minimize out-of-pocket cost for me. The WHOLE STAFF here is the best I’ve ever experienced. I was treated very well and they made sure I felt no pain. I am very pleased with the root canal I had done here, very professional, there was a sense that great effort was made to do the best job possible, my canals were blocked with calcium plus it had 4 root branches instead of the normal 2 and work took longer than expected and he made sure the work was thorough and complete while assuring his next patient that he will be right there, I felt bad that my tooth required the extra work, I will continue coming here from now on. all the staff was very friendly , overall a very good experience.

Five star- from the reception to the best dentist Dr Trent KANEMAKI . My husband had a bad toothache and needed an appointment . The receptionist called and added my husband to his schedule for the same day we called in to inquire for an appointment. My husband was helped and his toothache was gone . Dr.Kanamaki is the best. I was given a recommendation of 2 root canal and an estimated bill of (high amount) out of pocket by another dentist. Thank god I came to Dr. Kanamaki for a second opinion. A month later both my teeth are fixed, they never needed a root canal, just basic taking the decay out and putting a sedative filling eased my discomfort and helped me save 2 teeth. And more than that dr. Kanamaki is so genuine and honest and respectful. I am so pleased and bringing my son here soon too. He is a GEM!!!

I have to start off by saying I am beyond terrified of going to the dentist, I have avoided it for many years and I am now paying the price by having so much work to do. The good news is the doctors are SO nice and gentle, they will make sure you’re very comfortable and will stop whenever you need a break. We have been going to Dr Kanemaki for over 10 years now. My previous dentist had told me there was nothing he could do about the spaces from the teeth I previously had pulled and eventually I would lose the teeth around them because the teeth beside them had already started falling into the gap. I had trouble eating because I had a gap on each side so I had nothing to chew with. Dr Kanemaki was able to make partials for both spots. I still have the teeth around them and love my partials. He is gentle, friendly and as painless as a dentist can be. The staff is also very friendly. Even though we now live further away, we still go back to Dr Kanemaki for all our dental needs. I would recommend him to anyone.

This is the best dentist I have been; I have been coming here since 2000. My last dentist was in Riverside, and they used up my insurance coverage in three weeks, and told me “See ya next year! You have two more cavities.” Then I moved to Orange county and found Dr. Kanemaki. LUCKY ME! He said “See ya in 6 months. You have no cavities!” What does that tell you?! Cavities don’t just disappear! Since then, I had a couple fillings came off, which were done elsewhere, but my teeth have been very healthy. So, I am sorry Dr. Kanemaki, you won’t be able to get rid of me even if you wanted to!!

I used to be deathly afraid of going to the dentist, but since going to Dr. Randall Kanemaki I don’t have that fear any more. He is the rare dentist that doesn’t keep you waiting (generally people are anxious at the dentist and waiting in the reception area doesn’t help). He explains what is happening and gives you choices. I went in today for a filling, but ended up needing a root canal. There was no pain, not even when anesthesia was given. Dr. Kanemaki also called me before leaving the office for the day to ensure that I was okay. Who does that? He is a rock star!!!

Dr. Randall T. Kanemaki, is the best dentist I have ever been to(…). I went in with a strange bite… turns out my old repair was incorrect AND I needed a root canal. Dr. Kanemaki is very conservative so my repair took a good 6-8 weeks from start to finish. But now I can eat food I haven’t been able to eat in months and now I can sleep without a night guard for the first time in almost TWENTY years! O.O True story! I highly recommend this doctor and his staff. All are extremely well trained and very compassionate… from the ladies who check you in, to the assistants in the back. They are all top notch.

I’ve been living in OC since ’63, and this is THE best dentist I’ve ever been to – period. I’ve been going to him since I was a teen (I’m now 60). He takes the time to talk to you about what needs to be done and discusses options, if any, before doing any work. And one or two of those discussed options has saved me a lot of money. Oh, and his staff is great. Most of the people in the office (back and front) have been employed there for a long time, which tells me that it’s a great place to work. My family has been going to Dr. Kanemaki’s office for more than 30 years! He treats my mom, uncles and cousins! They truly care about their patients. All the ladies at the front desk are great at following through with scheduling your appointments, bill reminders, etc. You will not have to wait 30 minutes in the office if you have an appt like at some dentist offices. Majority of the time I’m in and out of there in an hour. Over the summer, one of my teeth starting throbbing painfully and after 1 day of waiting it out, the next day it continued so I quickly called their office and they had an appt the next day. It turned out to be a root canal which takes 3 visits to treat. Sticking to their schedule, I needed my next appt to be 2 weeks later, then the following 5 weeks later. Dr. Kanemaki quickly assessed the problem and worked on my tooth the first time I went in. He even called me later that night to see how I was doing and if I had any pain with my tooth; which I didn’t at all! I got all my visits in ASAP, which at some dentist offices can take months! Visiting Dr. Kanemaki’s office is not scary and I never dread going to the dentist anymore. Also, majority of his staff has been there since I was child so that is a good sign that they’re doing something right! I highly recommend him!

I just finished up having a cavity filled and I have to say, this practice is amazing!! They are so awesome!! I didn’t feel a thing while Dr. Kanemaki was working on me, from the numbing all the way to the drilling and cavity filling…nothing! I mean I did feel him pushing on my tooth while he was doing whatever he was doing but no uncomfortability, no pain, nothing!! And the numbing part is usually the scariest part, but wow he has magic hands. I had all this anxiety going in today for nothing, I wanted to give him such a big hug afterwards and the woman who assisted with him today (I’m sorry I forgot your name!). I just want to say though, Dr. Kanemaki excels at what he does. His work is a craft, it’s a skill, and you can easily tell that he loves what he does and this is so much more than just a job to him. I feel like that goes for everyone who works there actually. His whole practice and everyone who works there is amazing, kind and caring. I personally dread visits to the dentists office because of being traumatized as a kid going to a particular children’s dentist (where they lacked in the ability to make a child feel safe and comfortable). But here it’s so much different. Each time I come for a check up I remind myself that there’s nothing I need to have anxiety about or be worried about, because Dr. Kanemaki’s practice has never, EVER made me doubt their ability to serve their patients with the absolute best quality care. It’s their experience alone that puts them above all other practices.
We have been serving the Buena Park and surrounding areas since 1972 when Dr. Randall Kanemaki graduated from the USC School of Dentistry. Dr. Brian Shimizu joined the practice and is a 1994 graduate of the USC School of Dentistry. Dr. Trent Kanemaki, Dr. Kanemaki's son, joined the practice in 2001, and is also a graduate of the USC School of Dentistry. We have a family of staff, many who have worked with Dr. Kanemaki for 10 to 35 years. Our dentists have over 50 combined years of experience serving our patients. Our doctors and staff are committed to making your visit as painless and stress free as possible. We offer preventative dentistry, hygiene, periodontics (gum treatments), oral cancer screening, pediatric dentistry, crown and bridge, dentures and partials, root canals, extractions, fillings, and implant restorations. We also offer a full range of cosmetic dentistry, including teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, bonding and Invisalign orthodontics.
