I am so happy I found Dr. Armel on yelp.  My previous dentist insisted on costly cosmetic procedures versus addressing my concerns of basic preventative health care.  Upset with not feeling heard or my needs being met, I thought it best to seek treatment elsewhere.   I have limited dental insurance but am willing to pay out of pocket to receive excellent care.  That is exactly what I got with Dr. Armel and her staff.  Dr. Armel is skilled, experienced and has incredible bedside manners. She was able to address my concerns over the phone even before my initial appointment.  I chipped my tooth and felt an urgency to come in. Josh, at the front desk, worked his magic to get me on the schedule. Once I arrived, I was greeted by Ginger, friendly adorable little dog.  Brittany, her assistant, was kind and flexible while performing the x-rays. Dr. Armel fixed my tooth lickety-split.  She also gave me a full examination and put my worries to rest. I do not need that costly cosmetic procedure and my teeth are healthy (as I had suspected.)  I listened to my gut and it led me to Dr. Armel. Yay! I can not speak highly enough about my experience with Dr. Armel and her staff. I run my own private practice in healthcare and understand the importance of professionalism, patience, honesty, friendliness and thoroughness. They absolutely rock!  Thank you!

Start to finish, in a two month period starting with a phone call to 1800DENTIST I now have deeply cleaned teeth, no more bleeding gums and a sense of peace knowing I have an expert dentist on my side. Doctor Armel and her team got me in, diagnosed my issues and got to it. My confidence is in her abilities to administer virtually pain free dentistry. I would recommend her services for everyone.

I have been to see Dr. Armel twice now and although I usually wait until four or five experiences before wrinting a review I just had to post this review now. I have never in my life (and I’m 64) felt so  utterly at ease with a dentist before. No judgement or guilt about not having flossed regularly–I’m going to start now–she has a way, I can’t quite explain it, of making something make sense to me. I’m not sure where she ranks in terms of expense but I think she’s a little pricey. But you have to ask yourself: do you want assembly line dentistry of questionable quality (I’m thinking of Western Dental in particular) or a highly competent dentist who a takes a personal interest in you. If it costs a few bucks more I will gladly choose the latter and in my opinion so should you.

Amazing experience with Dr. Armel DDS!! I am from New York and broke a tooth on my plane trip over to San Francisco.  I searched for a dentist in San Francisco on my computer while still on the plane and saw excellent reviews for Dr Armel.  I contacted her office via email and she was able to see me the next morning on very short notice.  Her dog Ginji greeted me when I walked in, her office manager Dustin was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable and Dr Armel really took great care of me.  She fixed my tooth so I was able to save my business trip here.  Could not be happier!  If you are looking for a great dentist in San Francisco, I highly recommend Dr Armel.

Dr. Armel and her staff are wonderful. They took such good care of me. They are professional, thorough, patient, honest and friendly . I am pleased I found them and I highly recommend them. If you want a dentist who is skilled, has excellent bedside manners, and willing to address your needs & concerns, then you must see Dr. Armel.

I was referred to Dr Armel after a really nasty infection in my mouth (gross, I know) about 4 years ago when I first arrived in the city and she’s been my regular dentist ever since. Here’s what I love about her and her practice: 1. She’s a perfectionist. My teeth have never been so clean! 2. She never recommends a service or treatment I don’t need, and clearly explains why she thinks it will be valuable for me. 3. She’s fast and efficient, while still being friendly. 4. Josh, her assistant is 100% delightful. He’s really helpful when I’m confused about what anything means. 5. When I had to have drilling work done, they gave me a blanket because the anesthesia might make me cold, and big noise-cancelling headphones to listen to podcasts or music with. 6. Adorable dog in the office 🙂 7. Rebecca’s dad was a dentist, and I think this results in her having a very matter-of-fact view of dentistry. It’s not a big deal, it’s just something she knows and is good at. This attitude puts me at ease. I’ll be going to Dr Amel’s practice as long as I live in the Bay Area.

Been going to Rebecca for almost 10 years. I would say the previous reviewer, Mia J. nailed my sentiments exactly and all the reasons why I’ll never go anywhere else for as long as I’m in SF. She’s efficient, economical, goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable all while maintaining a “family run business” feel. There’s absolutely no reason you should see anyone else other than Dr. Armel. Mia J.

I started seeing Dr. Armel three years ago when I moved to SF. She was recommended by several of my coworkers as the best dentist in town. At my first visit, I knew I found a dentist I could trust. (She also has the cutest Yorkie to help alleviate any pre-appointment anxiety you might have.) Dr. Armel conducts the whole check-up and any procedures. She rarely relies on her dental hygienist – you get the doctor the whole time, which I’ve never experienced before. She cares about her patients and calls them at night following procedures. She also gives her patients her cell phone if needed for emergencies. I’m recommending that my parents start seeing Dr. Armel because she is just that good!

I was one of those kids who got to enjoy braces! And wisdom teeth being pulled! And retainers! Oh how I loved those… And mean dentists… Oh and most of my adult I avoided the dentist. So… It had been a few years since my last visit to the dentist. But fear NOT, Rebecca and Josh are just so welcoming and just kinda cool… So yeah, give ’em a try..

Over the years, I have spent countless hours in the chairs of several dentists. My teeth  have demanded so much attention.  Many procedures have “gone wrong” requiring extensive corrective work. I became dentistphobic…. until I starting working with Dr. Armel. I just had a crown replacement and it was actually, can you believe,  a peaceful experience (barely felt the novocaine injection or anything that followed). Her attention to detail in selecting exactly the correct shade for the crown was exemplary.  Dr. Armel is calm, gentle, informative and  thoughtful about the recommendations that she makes regarding one’s current dental needs and what one might expect in the future.  When budget is an issue, she identifies immediate needs and creates a timeline for the completion of what remains to be done. I love the fact that she does her own hygienic procedures giving her a first hand,   thorough understanding of your entire mouth.  Through conversations, I have learned that Dr. Armel continues her education by frequently attending seminars on the latest advancements in dentistry and then passes this newfound knowledge on by doing work that incorporates all that she has learned. 10 thumbs up for Dr. Armel.

Everybody hates the dentist, but this truly is a great experience.  I was referred to her and couldn’t be happier that I followed that referral to her office.  This is hands down, the best Dentist I’ve ever had. In addition to Dr. Armel being a great Dentist, her staff is top notch too.  Joy at the front desk treats you like you’re one of her own, and the hygienist is great as well. They were very flexible with me in terns of both scheduling/availability as well as payment.  They have a service to pay off bigger bills, and also offer discount for paying cash.  Additionally, you can call/email if you have major problems and they are super attentive….i.e. I had a script filled at 9pm on a Saturday night. If you need a new dentist or you’re tired of you’re current one, you should definitely look them up.  I can’t recommend any higher!

It seems like every dentist is just out for your money these days, but not Dr. Armel. She and her brother Josh run a small practice where they make you feel so comfortable and welcome. I had a horrible dental experience at Western Dental that practically ruined my teeth, but over the last 2 years, Dr. Armel has done a lot to repair my teeth and care for my oral health. I was terrified of dental work before, but now I feel no anxiety when I’m going to see her. She also worked with me on payment when I was uninsured. They really go above and beyond! And best of all for me, she fixed a cosmetic problem on my front teeth that has plagued me for as long as I remember. They really changed my life! Now, I recommend all of my friends to go to her!

I hate going to the dentist. I think I was traumatized as a child. But the thought of my teeth falling out and having to wear dentures scares me even more so I try to go to my regular check ups. I really like Dr. Armel, Joy, and Josh! They’re incredibly nice and down to earth people. My appointments are always quick and efficient and they are very thorough in their examinations. I like that they also explain what they’re doing too. She took out my wisdom teeth and I was able to go to work the next day and talk normally. aaaaaawesome. No issues at all. Also, they are good about reminders and are understanding when I’m an idiot and oversleep and miss an appointment. It’s a small office with just three people working and occasionally a friendly yorkie. They’re located in the giant medical/dental building right near union sq so it’s not hard to find although parking would be difficult. Anyways, if you’re in need of a dentist who will get the job done right, I’d definitely recommend Dr Armel and her staff.

Dr. Armel must be the best dentist I’ve ever visited.  She is very thorough and explains the procedures to me in as much detail as I need to understand them.  After the visit her office mailed me a summary of the examination and any further work which had been discussed.  The receptionist, Joy, was very courteous and called twice to ensure I was ready for my visit.  I’m actually looking forward to seeing Dr. Armel again.

I went to see Rebecca as I had swapped insurance and could no longer see my previous dentist. Changing provider was not what I wanted to do and was nervous to find someone new. So much so I left it a whole year between appointments. But a cracked crown forced my hand. Rebecca, was recommended to me and thank you lord for that. I never thought I would find a better dentist than my previous guy. I was wrong. I have never experienced going to the dentist with zero discomfort during or after the procedure. So much so I almost fell asleep in the chair (insane). Normally, I am sweating and gripping on to the chair. I am not scared of the dentist but it has that reaction on me. Whatever, your position on dentistry  – terrified or cool –  get treated by the most outstanding dentist I have ever had. Thank you Rebecca and Josh.

I recently moved to San Francisco from Chicago without knowing how to choose a dentist. I asked around the office and to some of my friends, but didn’t feel compelled one way or the other. On a whim, I decided to search through some of the yelp results, with the off chance that I would be persuaded to choose one dentist over the other. I decided that Rebecca’s reviews appeared genuine, and thought that I would give her try. What can I say, really?! Rebecca is not only an excellent dentist, but a quality person as well. Such a combination is rare. I can only support what the previous reviewers have said, I have nothing more to add but that I’ve already recommended her to two of my co-workers. I am still astonished that for my last visit I had to undergo two fillings, and felt nothing. Yup, it was PAINLESS! In my opinion this would suffice alone for 5 stars, but that Rebecca is also such a nice and sincere person that I really cannot put it any simpler: Rebecca is an excellent dentist!

I ‘ve just read about 15 reviews about Dr. Armel and her crew and I would agree with every positive thing that was said.  It seemed that most people stressed what I appreciate most about Rebecca and that’s that she seems to take a personal interest in me and my teeth—not just teeth in general but my teeth and me.  Besides that she’s an excellent dentist and has done all kinds of work on my teeth and there’s nothing she’s done that I haven’t been completely satisfied with.  I highly recommend her!

Dr. Armel and her staff are friendly, professional and make going to the dentist fairly painless. The office is clean- airy and bright. The Dr. takes her time and impressively does each patient’s cleaning herself! She takes care to show patients their teeth (and any potential problems) on a large video screen and explain issues in lay terms. When I had my first cavity ever, I freaked out, but Rebecca calmed my fears and made the filling painless and easy. I highly recommend Dr. Armel!!

I worked at the building her office is in as an engineer. There are several dentists in the building, and after talking with a few I decided to go ahead with Dr. Armel. When I first walked in and talked with her, she asked to look at my teeth. She then proceeded to tell me exactly what work had been done to these chompers. Ultimately, I needed two front teeth replaced that were damaged years ago which called for a whole new front grill. We went over the details and she gave me a great smile that all the ladies love  . Over the years I’ve had some serious mishaps and she has always responded by making sure that things work out well. I’m super pleased with my experience and highly recommend Dr. Armel when asked. Thanks again Dr. Armel.

I went to Dr. Armel’s office before she took over the practice. There was a glass wall separating the waiting room and the receptionist, dental area! I found that rather wierd. Then, after Dr Armel moved in, everything changed. The glass wall disappeared and it became patient friendly, very warm and welcoming. So, the setting is consistent with Dr. Armel’s personality and her skill as a dentist. I have had a lot of dentists in my 79 years and Dr. Armel rates among the very best. (I’ve had some awful ones!!) It takes a lot of effort for me to get to her office now that I’ve moved to a different part of the City but I don’t have the slightest intention of leaving Dr. Armel!!

I had always been so nervous to see the dentist until now! After avoiding an appointment for some 3+ years I finally went to see Dr. Armel on Post. She gave me a really thorough exam and even mailed me a few pages on the health of my teeth. I had 3 follow up appointments and all of them were painless! I’m almost sad i don’t have to go back for a few months! She is by far the best dentist I have ever had. *AND she has an awesome little doggie in the office! Jinji is the cutest!

Dr. Rebecca Armel is an excellent dentist. She is very friendly and detailed oriented. There is no such thing as perfect but, her work would cause you to think otherwise. She makes you feel comfortable and I have always experienced pain free visits. I recieved two veneers on my front two teeth and people think I am lying when I tell them that they are caps. She spent extra time making sure they were a good match while making sure my teeth were back to their original state. She is awesome! I would definately recommend her to my family and friends. I get so many compliments on her dental work. You won’t be disappointed. Sincerely, Tangie.

If Yelp has six stars for rating, I would like to give one more star to Dr. Armel. Because she is just fantastic. I am very glad my coworker recommended her to me. She helped me pull over my decayed wisdom tooth. It sounds very scary. But actually it was very pleasant experience. After my mouth got numb, Dr. Armel put ear phones on me to let me listen to the music. After 20 seconds, my wisdom tooth was pulled out without any pain. I would like to see Dr. Armel in future. I also recommend my coworkers and friends to see Dr. Armel too.

Rebecca -I had two cavities done, and it was actually the most painless experience I’ve ever had with the dentist. She administered the numbing agents in steps instead of going straight for the gums like my previous dentist. She also gave me a really nice noise-canceling headset to use during the operation (with the iphone7 headphone dongle) for my phone so I could put on my own tunes. Honestly, lying back in that soft chair and listening to my best chill station I almost fell asleep. Also, her dog is cute. Staff – Very friendly and very thorough. The guy at the front desk always made sure that I knew exactly the full cost of whatever I was looking into beforehand and even followed up with an email to confirm the costs he quoted earlier in person. He was also happy to help me figure out the costs of future operations that I’m looking to do later which was helpful. Also, he’s always happy to give you something to drink (water or tea). All in all, it was a good experience and I’ll be coming back for the rest of my dental work. It’s nice knowing that in the future I won’t be dreading seriously painful operations that I’ve come to associate a visit to the dentist with.

If you are new to San Francisco or not satisfied with your current dentist, I highly recommend Dr Rebecca Armel.  I was extremely happy to find that Dr. Armel returned to San Francisco to open a new practice.  Rebecca has a kind and gentle manner and she has an excellent staff of nice people who are caring and competent.  If you work in the Financial District, her office at 490 Post St. is just a short walk away and being on the 16th floor it has a great view of the city.  You can’t go wrong with Dr. Armel as your dentist.

Dr. Armel is great. Having recently transplanted from Michigan and been seeing the same dentist for 25+ years, I was nervous to see anyone new, really. I’ve now seen her twice and I’d like to say- I’m very pleased with her. She is calm, professional, and will work around your schedule if necessary. She also personally follows up to see how you are doing (which is rare, vs. an assistant doing so). Her staff is very pleasant as well. Oh, & her work is great, too! No real post-work complaints on my end. Be prepared to pay your copay the day of, though (vs. getting billed).

I came to Dr Armel with a lot of tooth problems and a fear of the dentist. I went to her initially because I wanted a female dentist and she was the only one I could find. She was not in network for me but her and her staff made me feel so comfortable and informed that I made the choice to go to her anyway. She and her staff take the time to explain and break down what needs to be done, which for me is A LOT, remember that whole fear of dentist thing? Let’s just say it’s been years and I need some help. Dr Armel and Dustin put me at ease during my procedure and after. I often find going to the dentist  really frustrating, like going to a mechanic, since I’m not an expert I feel like you’re trusting strangers to tell you what you need. Well this office is not that. They are clear and give you options and price breakdowns and follow up. Best dentist ever!

It honestly was one of the best dental experiences I have ever had. I have always had some sort of fear around dental procedures and she made it really easy. I would definitely recommend people come here. She is an amazing dentist and a really awesome person. I unfortunately got attacked by a racist homophobe on muni and had to go to the dentist for an emergency, she legit saw me as early as she could. I am extremely grateful for her expertise and the fact that gave me options and described all the pros and cons of each one. I honestly believe that this was the best dentist experience I’ve had and I’m definitely going back lol. Thank you Dr. Armel!!!! You’re amazing!!

Dr. Armel is the cornerstone of her three person office.   These three professionals are so in synch working with each other that the time spent there flows smoothly and efficiently.  You’ll first meet Joy, the office manager, who offers you  bottled water, should you have to spend any time in the waiting room.  Then Josh, who assists Dr. Armel, will guide you to the correct examination room to see the dentist.  Once in the chair, you’re offered headphones to listen to music, and even asked the type of music you’d like.  As with headphones, naps are optional. Rebecca Armel is an excellent dentist.   She is on top of the latest procedures, and most important (to me, anyway), she is especially  concerned about the patient’s comfort.   I’ve seen her several times for some complicated work, and can truthfully say I have never felt even slight pain. When Dr. Armel finishes, you again see Joy, who will work with you to schedule your next appointment (if one is necessary) at the time most convenient to you. I’m glad that Dr. Armel is 20 years younger than I, so I don’t have to worry about her retiring before I no longer need a dentist.

Here’s something that most people know. I. Hate. the. Dentist. I’ve taken off a few fingers in my time from a dentist. Surprised I’m not on some “black-ball” list somewhere in the dental profession. But, I desperately needed to see a dentist. From a suggestion on a co-worker and friend, Jenni D., I got Dr. Armel’s information. And I am so glad that I was able to get seen. Dr. Armel is super sweet. She has this completely friendly and comforting nature to her. I don’t know what it is – it’s like you just feel like you could be her friend from the moment you walk in the door. She is amazingly gentle, and completely thorough. It’s like she has this undying passion for teeth and gums and mouths. She made sure that I was completely comfortable and not in any pain, and talked with me if something came up or I had questions about anything. I totally felt like I was talking with someone that I knew forever. She explained everything plain and simple, and in a way that made you seem equal, and not like most dentist who talk down to you. I loved how involved she seemed about the health of my teeth. It was like they were her teeth and I was just borrowing them from her. She just had so much energy and passion. Looking for a dentist? Definitely check her out. She’s erased my fear of dentists, and helped me to keep my pearly whites white and pearly.

So…all throughout our lives, we have been poked and prodded by quite a few if not too many dentists. Some mediocre and then some are like our best friends. Fast forward to me as a 42 year old adult who appreciates skill, knowledge, competence, integrity and personality in a dentist. That expectation for me was completely fulfilled by becoming Dr. Armel’s patient back in January of this year. To me, she is the best and believe me, I have high standards.  🙂 Her services far exceeded my expecatations, and she has completely won over a new patient; that being me. I am ever thankful and full of gratitude for her taking me under her wing. Today, I left her dental practice with a brighter step and an impeccable mouth. Thanks Dr. Armel! First off, I’m choosy about my dental care providers. Once I find a great dentist, I want to stay with them for as long as I can. I also want to know that the dentist I’m entrusting the care and treatment of my teeth to is well-trained, stays current on all the new stuff, is really focused on making sure her patients get the best care possible, and can deliver the goods. Dr. Armel delivers the goods, and she does it consistently. Oh, and she definitely understands and practices pain-free dentistry. All the standard stuff–checkups, cleanings, fillings, etc.–are professionally and thoroughly done. She’s also really good with the more extensive work (implants, bridges, etc.) Just based on this, I would recommend her without reservation. But what makes me recommend Dr. Armel with enthusiasm is the extra mile that she goes for her patients. I had a recurring problem pop up this spring late on a Friday night in an acute way. I called Dr. Armel on her cell first thing on Saturday morning and she happened to be going in to her office right then just before leaving on a vacation. She had me come down so that she could have a look–all while delaying her vacation departure. By the end of the weekend, we had the problem resolved. So from my perspective, Dr. Armel (1) personally took an emergency call from me on a weekend; (2) arranged to see me on very short notice; (3) took care of my problem; and (4) did it all at the expense of delaying her vacation departure and keeping her travel partner waiting in the car. Dr. Armel has been my dentist for 6 years now, and this is the quality and standard of dental care I’ve come to expect from her. Absolutely stellar.

Dr. Armel is so cool that she fixed my botched fillings from a previous dentist and even billed him for the expenses. (that’s right, i had the same teeth drilled 2 years in a row. not awesome. i can hear Dr. Armel telling me to brush and floss right now…) I have been a patient of Dr. Armel’s for over 2 years, and i’m still going back for my regular procedures, so she is doing something right. Also, Dr. Armel’s staff (who happen to be her brother and his girlfriend) are super friendly and professional.  and she has a cute little dog who hangs out in her office in the dog bed. very cute. need i say more?.

Hands down, Dr. Armel is the best!  In fact, I have referred several friends to her and they’ve all been completely satisfied.  The office is clean and updated and there are all sorts of little touches to make the experience more, dare I say, COMFORTABLE (like headphones with music while they drill your grill).  And through out procedures, Dr. Armel takes her time and explains everything she’s doing clearly so there are no scary surprises, like a six inch needle suddenly poking out of your gums.  I am never nervous to go here for work…in fact, Dr. Armel’s office makes a trip to the dentist almost fun.

She was very nice and kind and had very good advice about my current and future dental care. She even noted that a former dentist was probably trying to upsell me with more rigorous cosmetic treatment – I take notice of honesty! I also enjoyed the front desk’s explanation of my complicated benefits and a timeline for my out of pocket expenses. No surprises! I’ll definitely be returning to this office..
