Every time I go to see Dr. Gottlieb it sure is a treat.  He is always welcoming, along with his staff who are extremly friendly, and they always talk to me as well.  Not only that, he is very good at what he does and always educates you on what he is doing.  I would recommend him to anyone and will bring my kids once the time is right.

Dr. Gottlieb’s office is truly one of a kind. My family and I have been patients here for over 10 years and receive exceptional care with every visit. The entire staff has taken the time to get to know our family, delivering a personal experience that we always look forward to. After moving out of state and trying other dentists and hygienists, I still return to Dr. Gottlieb’s office because no one else can compare.

I have been through the absolute worse with dentist but, this guy here is an angel.  His staff is amazing as well, they even checked up on me after my appointment. He could tell I have been traumatized and took that into consideration. Gave me options on oral surgens as well, this man actually cares about his patients. Book that appointment, it’ll be the best thing you’ve ever done!

For the past 35 years I have had the pleasure of being Dr. Gottlieb’s patient. He and his staff are excellent at keeping you relaxed during dental procedures. They truly care about the health of your mouth and I completely trust their expertise whenever I need work done. Thanks Team Gottlieb!

I gotta hand it to them. So here’s my story: My top right wisdom tooth decided to start coming in about 3 years after I had my bottom 2 wisdom teeth taken out. I started getting pains in my wisdom tooth and then headaches (which I’m guessing were also from the toothaches). I panicked because since I turned 25 I was no longer on my parents’ insurance. I looked all over online and finally found Dr. Gottlieb’s office. When I called, the person who answered the phone was very caring and concerned when I explained to her how it felt and what was going on. They squeezed me in to do some xrays and pull my wisdom tooth. The procedure was relatively painless, and even though I had a tooth pulled, my mouth feels infinitely times better than it did with that terrible decaying bad tooth in there. The price was much more reasonable than I thought it would be ($150 for the pull and $28 for the xrays). I will be back to fix my fill-ins for my other teeth, and I’ll be back to make sure my mouth is in good shape.

When one of my fillings popped out for the second time, I turned to Yelp, hoping that the reviews posted here would give me the most accurate representations of area dentists and help me pick the best one. I’m so glad I did – Dr. Gottlieb is indeed the best dentist I’ve ever been to, and I’m writing my own review in the hopes that it will help others find him too. I have a lot of anxiety due to past experiences at the dentist, and from the time I called to make an appointment (his office is very busy, but they squeezed me in the next day) to the time I went in to get my filling redone (plus a few more), Dr. Gottlieb and his staff were nothing but kind, understanding, patient and gentle. I’m not the easiest patient to deal with, but everyone there is so compassionate and caring that it almost made me feel silly to be so scared and upset. However, I WAS scared and upset… and it turns out that Dr. Gottlieb is qualified to offer sedation dentistry to patients with dental anxiety like me. I had a couple appointments prior to going in for my fillings to make sure all my dental issues were addressed, and not only did Dr. Gottlieb make sure to take the time to go over my x-rays with me in detail, he also typed up a comprehensive, pages-long write-up of the state of my mouth, something I have never received from another dentist. He doesn’t suggest unnecessary procedures (which other dentists have recommended in the past) – in fact, his aim is to educate his patients on preventative care to keep them out of his chair. No one in his office will scold you for brushing or flossing incorrectly; they will kindly show you the right way to do it going forward. And Dr. Gottlieb does great work – my fillings look great and feel sturdy. I truly can’t say enough what a positive experience going to Dr. Gottlieb has been so far. I’ve avoided the dentist most of my adult life, and I’m actually almost looking forward to going in for my next cleaning! Dr. Gottlieb sets the standard for how all dentists should approach their practice, and his entire staff is wonderful. I’ll absolutely be recommending him to everyone I know.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Gottlieb’s since 1989. With my previous dentists, I used to get myself so worked up before dental work that I would hyperventilate and/or throw up. I needed nitrous oxide to relax in the chair. Dr. Rick and his staff put me at ease. Over the years, he has had the best office staff and hygienists. He is the master at administering Novocain. I need a lot of numbing for my procedures, and he is the best. I hardly feel the needle and I’m able to relax for the procedure without laughing gas. He and his staff have been using advanced sterilization and other forms of protection for decades–long before other practices began adopting them. They were already prepared for COVID-19 so they didn’t have to change much to elevate their sterile practices. Traveling to Oakland is a pain sometimes, but I gladly trek there for cleanings and dental work when needed. I’ll be a patient until he retires.

I recently had the pleasure, yes pleasure, of having a dental restoration done by Dr. Richard Gottlieb. I am a dentist myself and you can believe me when I say that Dr. Gottlieb has excellent clinical judgement, technical prowess, and the highest integrity. My appointment with Dr. Gottlieb was an amazing experience. He was very friendly and gave excellent treatment. I had a chipped lower front tooth. He fixed it and made sure that I was comfortable. I did not have dental insurance yet the costs were very reasonable. Cathy at the office called me multiple times and even let me know there was an earlier slot even though I didn’t take it. She was very helpful. I am glad that I came here and will totally recommend to anybody in Pittsburgh who needs a dentist. Particularly if you are a student or so.

Best dentist ever. Going to the dentist is never fun, but he and his staff do an excellent job of keeping you comfortable. He truly cares about his patients and will only do the minimum medically necessary treatment to ensure you aren’t overpaying for things you don’t need. If he feels your teeth are in great shape, he will suggest a cleaning every year instead of every 6 months (even though that means you aren’t in the office as much, so less $$ for him). Now that I’m no longer in Pittsburgh I don’t know how I will ever find another dentist that’s as good as Dr. Gottlieb!

Dr. Gottlieb not only provided excellent care, but his office was able to get me in very quickly despite the fact that I was a new patient, and only in Pittsburgh for the summer. His receptionist went the extra mile to get dental records from my previous dentist, and Dr. Gottlieb’s evaluation and communication were excellent. Not to mention his prices were very reasonable for anyone who does not have insurance. My home is about 1,000 miles away from Pittsburgh, but I’m halfway serious when I say I might visit Pittsburgh more often if only to get a dental check-up.

I am a medical professional, and not only is Dr. Gottlieb the best dentist I’ve ever been to, he’s the best medical professional I’ve ever been to.  He was not initially on my insurance plan, and I willingly paid cash to see him, and it was worth every penny.  Professional, attentive, great staff and a great work environment.  Every time I see him, in addition to feeling great about my care, I come away with new ideas about how I want to run my own office.
