First time going to a dentist in over 15 years. Not a fan of doctors in general, but Dr. Gardner did a great job. I cracked a tooth a few days before setting an appointment. I went in, he asked me a couple questions, took a look around, and then pulled it right there. I didn’t feel a thing. I was back at work within the hour. Doc is on point, definitely recommend.

Great Initial Experience! My wife and I just moved to the area. We needed to find a local dentist for our 6 month cleanings and decided to give this practice a try based on their prompt call back for scheduling and positive reviews on Yelp. Dr. Gardner was very pleasant and took the time to explain the current condition of my teeth and gums. The cleaning was VERY thorough! I plan on going back as long as I’m in the area!

I have been seeing Dr. Gardner for several years now.  I am always able to get an appointment within a week of calling and you never have to wait to be seen at your appointment.  The office is located just off of Rittenhouse Square and has a very cozy feel to it.  The entire appointment is spent seeing the doctor and he has a great chairside manner.

My experience with Dr. Gardner was great. The final result, is I have a beautiful three unit bridge which I couldn’t be happier with. I had several visits at his office during the course of the dental work, and I was thoroughly informed as to what to expect each visit. The office is decorated beautiful, and is clean and bright. My last visit I had the Zoom Lite to whiten my teeth. They are 3-4 shades lighter than what I started with. I get so many compliments on my teeth from co-workers, etc. I owe my beautiful teeth to Dr. Gardner. He is a great cosmetic dentist, with a great, let’s you know what is going, doctor’s bedside manner. I highly recommend him.

What a GREAT experience. I hate going to the dentist, but even just walking into the office I knew this visit would be different. Dr. Gardner is calm and caring– and the office feels more like a chic living room than a dental office! I recommend that if you are scared of visiting the dentist you make an appointment for his style of “relaxation dentistry!” And a PLUS, he recommended I not pursue an expensive treatment plan I thought I needed.

Steven A. from Philadelphia, PA (Source: Yelp)

The office is clean, calming and actually quite beautiful…seriously, there’s art and collectibles from around the world inside.  My appointment started on time.  He was professional and a very good communicator…you always knew what was going on and happening next.  He was up front about fees, which I appreciate.  He was good and the experience was better than expected.

Had a great experience with Dr Gardner, for a root canal and a crown fitting. I came here after a bad experience with a different dentist, and couldn’t be happier that I came to Dr. Gardner. He’s very detail oriented and explains what’s happening every step of the way. Would highly recommend !

Back in April, I fell and broke my two front teeth in half. Dr. Gardner was willing to get me in the very next day. He explained everything in detail as to what I would need to have done, which was a root canal and two crowns. He was so calm and reassuring. Missing two front teeth is frightening!! He was the best dentist I could have gone to! I receive compliments on my teeth almost daily! Would recommend him to everyone I know!!

I don’t often write reviews, but I am so satisfied with the work I would be doing you all a disservice if I did not. A little background: I had a cap on my front tooth for about ten years. The cap wore down, which made my smile look crooked and my tooth super sensitive. When I was shopping around to figure out my options I found that Dr. Gardner was the only dentist I met that was confident enough to do a single crown on the front. Fast forward two weeks: IT LOOKS AMAZING. Unlike most dentists, who will make a cheap crown for you right there in the office, Dr. Gardner sends a mold of your teeth to specialists out in CA, where they make the strongest, most natural looking crowns on the market and tailor them to your smile. Until your custom crown gets back from Cali (about 5 business days), he sets you up with a temporary crown made from the mold of your original teeth. This too, looked great, no one could tell it wasn’t my natural tooth. I did experience some mild sensitivity with the temp, but nothing major. Within the week I was back in the office for a 20-30 min visit where he popped on the new tooth. It is a mirror image of my other tooth, shape, color, everything. 5/5, 10/10, don’t waste your time elsewhere

★★★★★

It’s a nice office, small but comfy. My first visit was for cleaning and x-rays. I found Dr. Gardner to be both up front and informative with each and every step of the process. He is also quite thorough and detail oriented with both the cleaning and everything that needed to be done. Great service and a good bedside manner. My second visit was a month later, he’d found that the filling in an old cavity from childhood had begun wearing down and decay was starting to set in. He explained in detail why this happens. I came back in and we started the moment I arrived. He offered anesthetic which I refused (I hate that numb feeling), it wasn’t needed. He painlessly drilled and refilled the cavity with the latest in modern day composites very quickly. It was not a rush job at all but I was in and out of there in less than 30 mins. The only issue was that, like all quality dentists, he’s out of network for my insurance, but the reimbursement comes quickly and if you have a flex pay card you can use that. I’m sticking with this guy so long as I’m in Philly.

This is a great dentist above the violin shop in Center City. Going to this dentist is like walking into someone’s house. Dr. Gardner is sweet, honest, and straightforward. He doesn’t judge like most dentists I’ve been to, he just offers opinions and solutions. He explains everything as he’s going through the motions. Like many others, I’ve had horrible experiences with dentists. Last time I went to the dentist (before Dr. Gardner) I had three impacted wisdom teeth removed excruciatingly painfully that left me pretty scared to go back to a dentist for a long time. Dr. Gardner is a different kind of dentist, who makes sure you are 100% cared for the entire time and made sure I was completely numb before filling my cavities. He’s the best!

I’ve never struggled with odontophobia. That said, many of my friends do. If you have any anxiety about going to the dentist, Dr. David Gardner is the man to assuage your fear. He is the most professional, congenial, and skilled dentist ever to deal with my pearly whites. First, when you walk in you get an immediate sense for Dr. Gardner’s keen sense of aesthetics. This is the warmest, least clinical dental office I’ve ever visited. There’s a lovely China collection, some nice oil paintings on the walls, and a 24 inch flat screen on the wall to watch a favorite move or catch up on the news while you Dr. Gardner works his magic. Second, Dr. Gardner explains things in a clear, non-jargony fashion. He takes his time explaining your treatment options. His approach is very patient centered. You don’t feel like decisions are being taken from you. I’ve learned a lot about my own dental health just listening to him explain what’s going on with my teeth. Third, and perhaps most importantly, I’ve never felt an ounce of pain in this guy’s chair. He works the anesthetic needle gingerly and once he gets you numb quickly, you stay numb. No pain no gain is a great rule in life, except at the dentist’s. There you want no pain, and at Rittenhouse Dentistry you don’t feel any. Combine the above factors with really reasonable rates, especially given the Rittenhouse location, and I don’t know why anyone would go anywhere else!

Dr. Gardner is just a block away from my office so it made sense to visit with him. It was a great move. Dr. Gardner is very involved with working with your insurance to maximize your coverage. Additionally, his services were great. He makes sure you understand every step of the process, and rather than just give you orders(floss more, brush more, etc), he helps you understand why these steps would help in your particular case. I had X-rays done and he walked me through every picture and explained what he saw and what it meant. Was actually pretty interesting stuff. Perhaps most importantly, he is a genuinely really nice guy. His office is small but very clean and super homey, a nice break from the typical dental office. Highly recommended.

Dr. Gardner is a fantastic dentist. Over the course of a few weeks I had a root canal with buildup and crown and five cavities. He was flexible with his schedule and was always able to see me within a day or two. His work is fantastic. I experienced no discomfort, and he constantly made sure to check in with me. He works quickly and efficiently. Also, when was the last time you went to a dentist and even had the cleaning done by the dentist himself? I highly recommend Dr. Gardner without any hesitation.

As the other reviews have said, Dr. Gardner is amazing! I’m new to the city and found him here on yelp and the other reviews were accurate – great dentist! This isn’t your usual large dental practice where you see a different dentist, hygienist, etc for each appointment or procedure you have done. He does it all, and does it very well. Highly recommend!!!

I Survived The Dentist Office Today Thanks To Dr. David Gardner, DMD. I Thought I Was Going To Have A Crazy Experience Because People Told Me About Their Experience But I Had My Two Top Wisdom Teeth Taken Out In 6 Minutes. Dr. Dave Has A Calming Energy, Very Confident And Relaxing Demeanor.

I have seen Dr. Gardner twice, once 6 months ago and then again just recently and the second time my wife came along for a visit as well. As a physician myself, I can say that Dr. Gardner is fantastic. Unlike my previous dentistry appointments where I felt like I was a patient in a factory, Dr. Gardner spent time with me, explained everything he did, and truly treated me as an individual. This is important, because like many others, I’m not a fan of my dentist visits. On top of the excellent care he provides, he is understanding of others busy schedule and tries his best to accommodate. If we were not moving to another city, I would have remained under the care of Dr. Gardner for as long as he was in practice. We wish him the best of luck in his practice. Lastly, of note, everyone else on this website has given him 5 stars, which is a testament to the type of provider he is.

Dr. Gardner is so great that I created a yelp account just to review him. For a dentist, that’ll tell you something right there. The office is beautiful, clean and homey. It does not have a cold, clinical feel at all. The location is central and convenient. Scoring an appointment was quick and easy. Dr. Gardner was thorough and professional, he explained what he was doing at each step and constantly made sure I was comfortable. I also appreciated the fact that he did not ask me questions and then expect me to answer them while he had tools in my mouth. Why do so many dentists do that? I am so glad I found Dr. Gardner after years of floating from place to place.

Dr. Gardner is incredibly detail oriented and made sure not only that I was comfortable but that I understood what he was doing every step of the way. He is very professional but also friendly. I came after a bad experience with another dentist for a root canal and my experience with Dr Gardner was night and day! I would recommend him for any and all dentistry needs.

I broke the bonding off my front tooth on a Thursday night and Dr Gardner squeezed me in the next day for an emergency visit. I have had multiple dentists do the bonding on this tooth and have never been happy with it. He gave me the perfect smile I’ve always wanted, and I have never been so pleased with the way my teeth look. I feel so lucky to have found him. He walked me through the entire process and explained everything to me in a way that made me feel comfortable.  He truly is an artist.

Sometimes in life one is lucky enough to stumble upon an individual who is a cut above the rest. Enter Dr. David Gardner, a young, hip, one-of-a-kind boutique type dentist practicing in the Rittenhouse Square area of Philadelphia. I personally didn’t think they made docs like this anymore. Whether filling a cavity, perfecting a smile, or simply performing a routine cleaning, Dr. Gardner is thoughtful, thorough, exceedingly competent, and terrific to engage. He will bend over backwards to accommodate his patients and his artistic eye, propensity for perfection, and willingness to spend time is rare in any field. It’s refreshing to know even in this modern, seat-of-your-pants age, there are individuals who remain committed to excellence. Seek the best. Seek Gardner.

Just had a quick check-up with Dr G. I’m a new patient and even though he didn’t accept my dental plan, he offered to take some x-rays to see if he could help with some trouble I was having with sinuses and teeth pain. Efficient, courteous, and a really pleasant guy all-round. I’ll definitely be looking into making Dr G my go-to dentist. UPDATE** 12/16/15 I ended up going back to Dr Gardner for a root canal. I’d never had one before but he made me feel at ease. He worked quickly and efficiently, making sure I knew what was going on and whether I needed a break. He turned a worrisome procedure into a breeze. Can not recommend him highly enough.

I had the most awesome experience on Saturday 18th April 2015 at Rittenhouse Dentistry. My teeth feel wonderful and Dr. Gardner was so warm and welcoming. I did not even feel like i was in a dental office because the space is so peaceful and inviting. I will recommend anyone looking for a good dentist to go see Dr. Gardner, he is awesome

I had a WONDERFUL experience with Dr. David Gardner and would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone! My front teeth were very crooked and Dr. Gardner made me crowns that look AMAZING! They are perfectly straight and reflect the light just like my natural teeth! I can’t stop smiling! I felt very comfortable in Dr. Gardner’s office; the atmosphere is warm and welcoming (not like most dental offices!) I received individualized care and enjoyed that Dr. Gardner personally treated me during every step of the procedure. I wasn’t switched from room to room and nobody else interrupted my treatment. Overall, I feel that I am in good hands and will continue to see Dr. David Gardner for the rest of my dental needs!

I thought that I should update my 5 star review. Yelp only lets me give 5, but if I could, I would gladly give Dr. Gardner 10 and an A plus, like he always gives me on my checkups! I have been a patient of Dr. Gardner’s for over a year now, and I really enjoy my dental visits because I can relax, close my eyes and because I trust him with my teeth, my teeth and gums have improved in health since coming initially. When I first met Dr. Gardner a few years ago, he said that I needed root canal, and I chickened out, I neglected my teeth. When Dr. Gardner did a filling last year, it was a big filling because of my poor eating habits and neglect of my dental care but it got me to take better care of my teeth. Now I have a Sonicare, I have been cavity free for awhile, and my most recent cleaning was easier for me because I’m taking better care of my dental hygiene. I think that it can be understandable for people to be nervous at the dentist and to neglect their teeth because of their anxiety. Dr. Gardner has been so kind and sweet, he explains everything that he does with his diagrams, models, he has always kept me involved and let me feel that I am educated and well taken care of, so I can take a deep breath and relax. I never thought that I would enjoy going to the dentist, but now I really look forward to it! It’s a great feeling knowing that you have healthy teeth and gums and that you trust your dentist and would gladly refer others! I’m very pleased!

I needed to find a dentist in CC Philadelphia after I moved here 2 years ago, and I’m SO glad I found Dr. Gardner. Today’s visit was by far the best dentist appointment I’ve ever had. From arrival to exit, the entire visit was only half an hour–absolutely no wait. Dr Gardner and I were actually the only ones in the entire office so it felt very personalized. The cleaning was thorough and informative. I will absolutely be returning and would recommend this doctor to anyone.

I made  my first visit to Dr. Gardner today.  It had been a LONG time since I had been to the dentist, after a particularly bad experience with my last dentist (OUCH!).  I became totally dentophobic and it was with much trepidation that I entered Dr. Gardner’s office today.  Even after a long time of having been to the dentist, it was as if I was at the hair salon:  totally relaxing, painless, and feeling great when I left!  This guy is so helpful in that he walks you through what’s happening and really makes you feel “in charge” of what’s happening to you (i.e. “I’ll take a break whenever you want”).  He also gave super helpful guideposts throughout (“we’re 75% of the way done,” etc.).  All together, he brought my anxiety level WAY down, did what needed to be done in a quick and painless manner, and earned a patient for life!  I can’t recommend Dr. Gardner highly enough.

Dr. Gardner is the best. Professional, courteous, great to talk to. He makes you feel comfortable and take care of. He is Knowledgeable, explains things directly and thoroughly, and is out to make you feel better and more healthy in terms oral hygiene, as opposed to sell you on things. If and when I need another cleaning or any other cosmetic or general work I will most definitely come back to see him. I highly recommend his practice. (Also the location could not be better, and the building is amazing!) Thanks rittenhouse dentistry.

Dr. Gardner was the first dentist I had outside of my childhood dentist, now a young professional, I struggled with confidence in my crooked, discolored teeth. I was really hesitant and anxious about going to the dentist because of some negative experiences I had as a kid. I had a consult with Dr. Gardner right before Christmas, and in just about a month, I had a new smile, with beautiful veneers that match my natural teeth. No one would ever guess that I have “fake teeth” and everyone who knew me before cannot get over how phenomenal they look. Since that experience, Dr. Gardner has been only a phone call away, and incredibly flexible. I contacted him early on a Saturday morning due to a toothache, and he told me to keep him updated as the day wore on. Dr. Gardner volunteered on a Saturday afternoon to see me, and turns out I needed a root canal. Thanks to Dr. Gardner’s flexibility I avoided what could have been a terribly painful experience, and that evening I had medicine to help with the tooth until I could come back again for the procedure. Dr. Gardner’s office is also unlike any dentist’s office you’ve ever been to. It’s in a beautiful building off Rittenhouse Square, and has such a relaxing vibe to it. Dr. Gardner will let you watch whatever movie you want if you want to bring one, or you can hook your iPod up to the speakers and play your own music to help you relax. This office is also really flexible with appointments, insurance, and payment options. I can’t rate this office highly enough, and I recommend this to anyone in the Philadelphia, Bucks County, Delaware County area. Dr. Gardner will not disappoint your dental expectations.

I love how my teeth feels after a cleaning, David Gardner did a great job cleaning my teeth, he took his time and inform me about the condition of my teeth. Dr. Gardner may be a magician in addition to his dentistry profession. As an avid Yelper, I found him and his wonderful reviews on my search for a dentist. I’m a wuss, no complete baby when it comes to the dentist. But as time has ticked so loudly in my ears towards the inevitable reckoning that comes from negligence in dental visitation, I had to start somewhere. I have had many unpleasant visits to the DMD to form my impenetrable aversion to all things hook shaped and high pitched, so my goal was to find a person who seemed to genuinely care about patients and their comfort while also doing a high quality job on my jacked up teeth. Dr. Gardner is pleasant and calming and takes time to explain everything you need to know about what may be in store for you. The office is comfortable and conveniently located. He is a one-man-shop it seems; and so while some dental practices can be like high-priced dental Marts, where you’re always getting a new hygienist and the Dentist rarely sees you only to tell you that you have 15 cavities without showing you any x-rays, and the receptionists like to imagine they are the dominant to your submissive, Dr. Gardner’s office is like visiting my mild mannered, kind, buddy who has an impeccable eye for artwork and likes to watch Big Bang Theory (one of my personal faves. High Five!), and then proceeds to practice dental magic on you in the most painless way possible. I had a cleaning with Dr. Gardner and a filling, and so happy with the experience. Go here. Just don’t block up his entire calendar, I got some nuggets that need fixing!

After having a really bad experience and not visiting a dentist for over a year and a half, I decided it was time to face my fears and go visit a dentist. I searched for my new dentist this time using yelp instead of letting my insurance carrier give me another horrible recommendation. I am so happy I found Dr. Gardner. First of all, he fit me in and was able to schedule an appointment immediately. The experience could not have been any better. Dr Gardner did everything from start to finish himself. He explained what he was doing as he did it. Surprisingly I experienced zero discomfort. I have never had a dentist polish my teeth as meticulously and as long as Dr. Gardner did. The only bad news was the number of cavities he found. I had him fill 2 cavities that same day and scheduled to come back to get more filled. In the past at other dentists, I have felt sensitivity near the teeth where a cavity was filled. This time I feel absolutely nothing. It feels brand new! The location and atmosphere of the office could not be more homey and comforting. I highly recommend Dr. Gardner!!

If you’re like me you avoid the dentist like you would the plague and that is why I count my blessings everyday when I get to step into Dr. Gardner’s office. His office has a very peaceful zen like feel to it. It is very relaxing with comfort lighting unlike most offices with those scary twilight zone lights. He will go over everything with you before you even get into the chair and discuss ANY concerns you have, He is a very honest man and will go over any billing types and double check your insurance just to make sure there are NO surprises. He will talk his way through each step to assure your comfort. I am fearless in most things except for dental work. It terrifies me but he was very gentle and calm and talked me through each step and would let me know what he was going to do before he did it. If I had any hesitations he would stop and discuss more with me. He is a very patient man so if you have a nervousness when it comes to dental work forget the counseling come see him you can have both! After each appointment he would check up on me make sure everything was going well asked how my comfort level was. I am sure I have forgot some things but bottom line is, This is one of the best dentists I have ever had, If you have any fears or concerns as I did ( I avoided the dentist for 8 years and now I am paying for it ha ha) come in and at least meet him and see his office he will calm any hesitations and perform miracle works for you. Thanks! ******* Update He continues to take great care of me and this is coming from someone who used to be terrified of the dentist and avoided one for 5 years! Now I look forward to our great conversations .

I purchased a cleaning and checkup via Groupon and had a great experience. I’ve had a lot of unpleasant dental experiences in the past, but Dr. Gardner was great. He’s pretty much exactly what you want from a dentist – friendly, helpful, competent. He did the cleaning himself and was very meticulous with the cleaning/polishing. He also took the time to explain what he was doing, walked me through any problems he found, and offered helpful suggestions on how I can improve my brushing/flossing. The office is located right off of Rittenhouse Square and the atmosphere is really cozy and comforting, not your typical dentist office at all. I would definitely come back for services in the future. If you normally dread going to the dentist, then this is the place for you. It’s about as nice/enjoyable of an experience as it can possibly be when it comes to going to the dentist.

Right when you walk in, you don’t feel like you’re in a normal dental clinic. The office is definitely homey and is decorated very nicely. Outside of the environment, Dr. Gardner was very personable and calming. I just went in for a cleaning and he tested the pressure that he would apply to see if it was okay for me. Dr Gardner also did a great job of cleaning my teeth as he was very through, which I noticed as my teeth looked a shade lighter. Beforehand, he made sure to see that my fillings were sturdy and in tact. If you’ve never been, you should definitely go here as it’s $98 for x-rays and a cleaning. I would definitely come back.
