I do not like going to the dentist and I wasn’t sure, do be honest about the location. I don’t write reviews either, but I have to this time. Dr. Lee and his office staff are the best . Very honest and work with you. Very professional and yet they make you feel like you are family. I highly recommend Rose City Dental for any dental procedures you need. Again, this is from someone who never writes reviews and does not like going to the dentist. I’ve had to get bone graft, flippers and implants and I would pay extra for the professional, compassionate and honest service I have gotten. They work with you and get to know you as a person. Dr Lee is also besides top notch, a character and makes me laugh Office staff is 2 thumbs up

The care I received from Dr. Tae Lee was absolutely phenomenal. I went to see my regular dentist, who was very dismissive and said they couldn’t get me in for a root canal until June 11 (this was on May 22). Since I was in agonizing pain, I looked to google to see where any emergency dentists were. I called Rose City Dental, and they were able to get me in THAT DAY! Within an hour of calling, I was already checked in and getting X-rays done. My roots were in bad shape and even were looking a little non-existent, which Dr. Lee generously said “if I am not able to complete this root canal, I will not charge you.” Luckily, he was able to start the root canal without any complications. Once I was numbed up, I didn’t feel a thing and Dr. Lee was great at checking in with me and making sure I wasn’t in pain. He also asked me about what medications I react badly to, and I told him I have a very weak stomach and he was able to prescribe me meds that would be gentle enough on me. He also asked about my anxiety and made sure I was okay mentally through it all, too. This is the first time in my life that I have felt actually cared for by a dentist. I live in Troutdale, so I was going to dental offices around there and Gresham, and they just weren’t friendly. Even though it is a longer drive, it is so worth it. I would recommend this dental office to anyone who asks! Thank you so much Dr. Lee and crew!!! You guys are so awesome and I am so appreciative.

We cannot even begin to Express our gratitude for this place! Dr. Tae and his staff are AMAZING! we dont have insurance so we never thought fixing my husband’s teeth would even be possible! Dr. Tae is so kind, friendly and humorous. We originally went in for an emergency tooth extraction. It went so smoothly. And we’re able to set up an action plan to get the rest of the stuff done! Today we went in to have 2 front teeth cavities removed and filled. They are beautiful now! Omygoodness Dr. Tae is an artist! My husband feels like he can smile again! You have no idea how much that means to me/us! THANKYOU SO MUCH! I literally have tears in my eyes because of the life changing work hes doing to my husband’s teeth! Definitely adding my voice to the positive reviews about this place. I went in there – on two hours notice, which quite frankly I found unbelievable – and…. Well, it was the end of a long tough day, my face was in agony, and sweet relief was only a few minutes away. So Dr. Tae Lee walks in and I’m blubbering like a toddler. He was patient, kind, and understanding. Even made sure I could make it through the appointment, and didn’t wanna postpone until (I could get my shit together maybe?). But I was resolute, and we got to work. He was great. Checking with me every step of the way, apologizing profusely for having to inject a painful spot. And before I knew it he was done. He made a few arrangements to make life even easier for me, and encouraged me to come back to solve another problem before it becomes… well, as bad as this was. I’ll definitely be back. And I can heartily recommend this place, especially for emergency extractions!

You will not find a better dentist than here. I absolutely hate getting my teeth worked on, which is what got me into my predicament in the first place. After chipping off part of an untended cavity, I had an exposed nerve and needed a root canal. Water hurt. Hard food hurt. Everything hurt. But the root canal? You know, the part where someone GRINDS YOUR TEETH DOWN WITH TINY LITTLE TOOLS OF DOOM? Didn’t even feel it. Dr. Lee’s skill speaks for itself. But that’s only a small portion of the reason why I loved this place. From the first phone call to the last minute that I was in there, I was treated with an honest compassion. Dr. Lee gave me my prescription and went over every question I had in detail. Then he shook my hand and told me he’d see me in 2 weeks for the cap. I thought that my day was going to be a nightmare, but I’ve never been happier about being proved wrong.

I’ve been a patient of Rose City Dental for over 5 years now and each time I’ve visited they do their very best to make you feel comfortable and explain why what they are doing. I have had both Dr. Tae Lee and Dr. John Lee work on me. Dr. Tae Lee done some root canal work and extractions I must say I never felt any pain. They are really good with using the local anesthesia needle. However, I won’t blame anyone but there are times when things just don’t go as expected with your dental health (aging and just bad luck) that I can’t explain why it happens. Dr. Tae and Dr. John Lee both try their best to solve the issue(s). Like I just recently had a chip tooth from eating and Dr. Tae was able to fix it and I couldn’t tell it was chipped. Dr. John Lee also has another office in Beaverton and he also does his own crowns. He does a really good job to make sure the crowns fit and will re-order it if it doesn’t. Most places just slaps it on and send you off your way. I have also had a major amount of credit reimbursement ($700) due to some mismatched communication/expectations on some insurance coverage and was credit that towards a crown. I really appreciated that. Rose city’s staff are friendly and does courtesy calls to make sure you don’t forget your appointment. They also have a handful of dental hygienist that does a great job and tries to make me feel comfortable during the cleaning session. no complaints in this department. The facility is clean and up to date with coffee, tea with TV and magazines while you wait so you’re not bored. Their facility just recently got upgraded with some cool X-Ray and Photo computer system that outputs the results to the monitor instantly. I use to have to wait 10-15 minutes for the X-Rays to be developed (old method). They do good dental work because they don’t want to lose face ( and that’s important in any Asian community) on their workmanship and reputation. I have had bad experiences in the past with other dentists (not local to PDX). I hope we continue to be patient/doctor for many more years to come.

I had an urgent dental problem on a Saturday on Memorial Day weekend. I contacted my usual dentist but she did not offer to see me. I would have to wait until the following Wednesday. But the pain was excruciating and I wanted an assessment so that I could arrange for an oral surgeon quickly if I needed one. A friend found Rose City Dental for me so I called and they got me in that day. They had several emergencies but despite being very busy I did not have to wait long to be seen. Dr. Tae was so kind and the staff was very polite and helpful. He took time to assess the xray and explain his recommendation to have the tooth removed as soon as I could. He gave me an antibiotic oral rinse to use until then. Because I was able to get an xray and send it to my oral surgeon , she could see the urgency and scheduled me for immediate removal of the tooth. And the cost to see Dr. Tae was minimal. He only charged me for the xray and mouth rinse, not an additional office visit.

The last time I visited Rose City Dental I saw a young boy come in with his parents and immediately go over to the TV console in the waiting area and pull out a DVD to watch. He felt completely at home. I saw him again after my appointment as I was checking out. He came out of his appointment beaming and proudly told the receptionist how good he had been. When I was a kid I don’t remember feeling that way about visits to the Dentist. I would definitely recommend Rose City Dentist to people with children. I would recommend it to adults too, as all of the staff are friendly and professional and the offices are very clean and modern.

Excellent staff and 2 of the best dentists we’ve ever met! My husband and I have been going here for over 2 years now. I found this office by accident when looking to get in for an urgent problem. I was able to get in the same day, and had the pleasure of working with both Dr. Tae, and Dr. Lee. My husband, who is very nervous to go to the dentist, saw how gentle and nice they treated me and decided to make them his dentists too! This has got to be the most gentle, understanding, compassionate office I’ve ever been to. Both dentists have worked with both my husband and I, to restore our dental health and our faith that going to the dentist doesn’t have to be painful or nerve wracking. I especially like how they take the time to explain what they are doing during a procedure and continuously make sure I’m doing ok. The receptionists have been understanding when we have a question about insurance, billing, and re-scheduling an appointment.

APPETIZER: Yesterday I went to see Dr. Tae Lee as Rose City Dental. This decision was based on my fellow Yelpers as I needed a dentist that was under my providers coverage list, had weekend hours, had personable staff, exercised professionalism, and had weekends hours. Well, I can say they met all my requirements and thank you to everyone who Yelped them! DRINK: Now for the meat of the review. 🙂 I came in for a cleaning and review as a new patient, I expected the worst, as my dental care can’t quite compensate for my bad genetics resulting in common dental problems. ENTREE: The office was very clean, all the staff I encountered were professional, and after filling out a few forms I was seen. The dentist sat me in the chair, chatted me up a bit, had the assistant take x-rays, and came back to review the results with me. Dr. Lee showed me the exact area where I had 6 (yes, 6) cavities that needed to be filled. I new this to be true as my Dad is a dentist and I have read x-rays many times. On top of that he said one of the areas had a large black area, in the very back of my mouth where the cavity is great it may require a root canal. He said that one of the 6 fillings was from previous dental work that hadn’t held up. So, then I went for my cleaning where I had a comprehensive and gentle cleaning, was shown the proper technique to get at the gums, and was even offered a prescription (which I am the best candidate for) prescription toothpaste contain 1.1% fluoride for only $7. DESSERT: My cleaning, x-ray, and exams were completely covered. So, I paid nothing, except $7 for my Rx toothpaste. Fillings are approx. $156 and root canals are approx. $956. My next appt is on the 29th and I need two fillings and possibly one root canal. I inquired with the receptionist on those cost and so was nice enough to do so. With 80% coverage my actual cost would be approx $62 for two fillings and approx $191 for the root canal. So, my total will be either $62 (two filings) or $253 (two fillings and a root canal). A great deal, friendly service by everyone, clean, and professional.

My son and I have been going to Rose City Dental for about 4 years. We actually look forward to our annual exams b/c the front desk staff is super friendly, kind and knowledgeable. We get the same dental hygienist most years and they are flexible in making both our appointments at the same time which is super convenient. The hours the staff keep are also convenient for working parents and Dr. Tae is super sweet and funny. Their waiting area, bathroom and dental rooms are all clean with the latest technology available. During COVID they were highly efficient, cleaned everything we touched and we felt safe. I see the same faces every year which tells me this is a good place to work and the office has a small family feel to it. I chose this dentist b/c it was conveniently located to our home. The only con is parking. The lot has about a handful of spots, but there is parking along 122nd.

I fully endorse the other reviewers’, well deserved, comments and find no need to repeat them. I will only add my own experience. I found Rose City Dental as a result of having an unpleasant experience at another office. Due to my work schedule, I need weekend appointments that were very limited in my area at the time. Upon first contact with the previous dentist, I told them up front that I had absolutely NO interest in cosmetic dental work. You could spend 20 grand on Mister Ed’s smile, but at the end of the day, he’d still have the face of a horse. What’s the point? They assured me that it wouldn’t be a problem. After a few months, I was given a list of work they felt I REALLY needed that amounted to over four thousand dollars!! Are you kidding!! I felt really bad for the many parents that were being put in the position of having to decide whether to deny their child or not of, supposedly needed, dental work. After all, how could any responsible, loving, caring parent deny what would be put forth as desperately needed work? From the looks of their surrounding and all the kids with braces on their teeth, their guilt trip worked. I angrily reminded them of my condition for being their patient and thought they finally understood. A few more months went by and once again I was to be given yet another sales pitch. I couldn’t leave them fast enough and luckily found Rose City. I got a check up without disclosing the findings from the other dentist and guess what? I had none of the dire problems on the list. I then explained to Dr. Lee my previous experience and he understood. When I bring my elderly mother in, she is treated with the kindness and dignity she deserves. All work performed, minor and major are, competently and expertly completed. Dr. Lee has never once suggested any procedure that I didn’t really need. Unlike my former dentist, Dr. Lee actually listened and through all these years remembered. As a matter of fact, the only cosmetic work done for me at Rose City was at my request and I had to bring the subject up. I have complete trust and confidence in both Dr. John and Dr. Tae. They and their entire office staff are honest, ethical, professional and competent to the core.

Spending the day at the dentist is not my idea of fun. I have multiple teeth issues, and to make matters worse, I have been diagnosed with OCD/Anxiety Disorder, which compounds my fear of dental work. Three years ago, I had an infected tooth that was causing a great deal of pain, so my regular family dentist recommended me to Rose City Dental. I went to RCD with much apprehension–I already have anxiety issues with dentist visits, and I was unfamiliar with Dr. John Lee. However, my nervousness was almost immediately set at ease. Dr. John was very kind and gentle, both in his speech and in his work. It is evident that both he and his brother, Dr. Tae, cares greatly for the wellbeing of their patients, as they are thorough and meticulous in their work. Not only do they care for your teeth, but they also care about you as a person. As a college student going to school out of town, Rose City Dental has been very flexible with my particular needs. They have offices hours, Monday through Saturday, making it easy to schedule appointments around my hectic work/class schedule. They are also understanding of my financial situation, making it possible to pay monthly instead of up-front. Since then, I have gladly switched to Rose City Dental as my regular dentist. The staff is friendly and helpful, the office is always clean, welcoming, and inviting, and the work done there is always of the highest quality they can provide. Recently, they have updated their equipment to include digital cameras/screens and new x-ray equipment, allowing them to be more accurate and more thorough. I have been blessed by the service of Dr. John and Dr. Tae, and I would highly recommend them to those who have anxiety about dental work.

Prior to our visit to Rose City Dental our experience   with  dentists were tramatic at best.  And then we met Dr. TAE Lee who was by far the most prefessional, respectible and gentle dentist  ever. Dr. Lee took his time explaining what was going wrong and every option possible. He was patient and kind answering every question we had and very considerate of the anxiety the appt caused.  Dr. Tae Lee is superior in his work and i just wish we could commend him in a epic way as he is the dentist to repair all fears of dentists. Anyone with phobias or any other dental fears should go here. I will refer everyone to this office from now on. Thank you Dr. Tae Lee for everything you are superior and look forward to future visits with you.

I’ll make this easy for you.. GO HERE! DR Tae was amazing!! It had been years since I had been to the dentist and suddenly had a really painful tooth ache. They got me in right away, although I was very nervous from previous times at other dentists they made me so comfortable during a major procedure. I was literally laughing in Dr. Tae’s chair while he was giving me a root canal. They were flexible with such a large payment, and the rest of the staff were amazing as well.

I needed immediate help with a severe toothache. I went in to Rose City Dental to get the tooth pulled because I wanted to relieve the pain and I knew other procedures would be costly. Once I got there and discussed what I wanted to do with Dr. Lee, he pleaded with me not to get the tooth extracted. He wanted to do a root canal on my tooth to save it. I knew root canals would be much more costly than just getting it pulled and when he saw the wheels turning in my head about costs of the procedures he said, ” How about I cut the cost in half?” Dr. Lee took, what would have been an $800 bill and turned it into a $400 bill WITH the option of a PAYMENT PLAN. Dr. Lee and his staff are the most caring group of people I’ve ever met in a dental office. He was more concerned about the well being of my teeth than I was and was willing to do what was best for me even if it meant taking a loss on his behalf. I typically avoid the trip to the dentist, but Dr. Lee and his staff made me look forward to our next encounter. Thank you Rose City Dental!!!!!

Dr. Tae is a master. I’ve had dentist nightmares my whole life until now. So far this man has given me porcelain crowns, a root canal, fillings and even a bone graft for a implant! The first time in the dentist chair I felt like I was a friend and not a dentists torture victim. And that’s huge. I trust him and feel comfortable with him and the whole crew at Rose City dental. The actual craft of dentistry is top notch as well.

My husband and I Bob and Lyn Mattingly, Searched for a Dental clinic, hoping to find one that did more than just normal dental care. Thank God we found one. Yes, and that is Rose City Dental Clinic. Everyone, from the front office, the Dental Hygienist, to the Dr. Take Lee and Dr. John Lee. They all care about each patient that enters. This is the most professional clinic we have ever been involved with. The professional Communications is super, and they care. We highly recommend this clinic. Thanks to all of you.

Rose City Dental has been my dental provider for over a decade and I will never switch, as long as they are in business. First off, the clinic has amaizingly talented doctors. They take time to listen to whatever dental issues either I or the rest of my family members have and figure out the best treatment plan. They worked with all insurances that I switched over the years. The staff members are very professional, warm and welcoming – it feels like family at this point. I love this clinic for their high degree of professionalism and skills, warm atmosphere, and  the fact that they can always find availability – even on weekends. Thank you, Rose City Dental.
