Been going here for 6 months- 2 cleanings, x-rays and 1 filling. The staff is very friendly. I haven’t seen any of the billing issues that others here have discussed, despite changing insurance companies between visits. The Dentist and Hygenist that I’ve seen have both been great. I’ve referred some co-workers here and they’ve all had good experiences, including the one who is deathly afraid of the dentist and hasn’t been in 10 years. I was able to get a filling appointment within a week, no problem.

My first visit as a new patient was an exquisite experience.  I decided to see Dr. Marquis because my former dentist couldn’t schedule me at my convenience.  Dr. Marquis’ office is attractive and welcoming, her team reassured me with their Covid-19 screening and safety measures in the office, and the new patient forms were easy to complete.  Natalia, the hygienist, was incredibly efficient taking x-rays, photos, and measuring my gums, and she provided me a thorough yet gentle cleaning and polish.  Dr. Marquis’ was very personable and her exam was comprehensive.  She focused on educating me on her findings and options for my dental health.  It was entirely comfortable and with no pressure.  Overall, I felt well cared for, and I’m looking forward to my next visit.

Dr. Marquis is that combination of friendly, easily understood, provider who explains one’s options, and the technical expert who painlessly fixes the problems.  I explained that it takes forever for the numbing injection to work and instead of ignoring me, she injected extra and waited patiently for my tooth to become numb!  Sounds like no big deal, but it’s an example of someone who gives a …. I would recommend this practice to anyone with teeth (or anyone without teeth thinking about getting some new ones….). If the person answering the phone is really nice, it might not be Dr. Marquis.  She’s managed to hire friendly happy folks to work in a fast paced office. It may sound petty, but it’s great to speak to a real person right away and to get your issues handled in one call.

I seriously cannot believe what I’ve read on yelp about SF Dental Office. I even waited until I had to go back for fillings to review it, just in case something terrible was brewing, but a few hours after my appointment, even with the novocaine wearing off, I still have 5 stars to give. I added a picture on here of the amazing views of the bridge and bay that you get when you sit in the chair, too, which are AWESOME. My first appointment was my first time at the dentist in like 3 years. I was nervous and told Katie, the receptionist, that when I made the appointment. She obviously took note because Ty*, one of the hygienists, and Dr. Marquis** both knew how I felt when I arrived for my appointment and both went out of their way to make me comfortable. X-rays were easy and painless and the cleaning was the smoothest one I’ve ever had. Dr. Marquis literally explained EVERY step she was taking and showed me every tool so I wouldn’t be uncomfortable.  She showed me my X-rays and explained where and why I needed fillings. She also showed me the corresponding teeth in the mirror so I could check it out. When I had issues with my dental insurance not paying for my services because of some stupid issue with my id number, Katie was SO patient and corresponded with them on my behalf until it was worked out, which it shortly was because of Katie’s dedication. My fillings today were as smooth as they could possibly be, especially considering I have a phobia of the dentist. Super fast and efficient, with Dr. Marquis once again explaining every step, taking care to note my body language so that when I felt a little tinge she was quick to give me more novocaine, showing me my tooth after it was drilled out to let me see how things work and keeping the conversation light but distracting enough to make me think of other things. I would recommend this place over any dentist I’ve been to in my 27 years and seriously am shocked at people’s reviews. * Ty is AWESOME. Super friendly, easy going, and goes out of his way to make sure you have the right magazine and some water, in addition to providing easy, comfortable conversation during a process that is anything but pleasant in my book. I was happy to see him when I went back again today.** Dr. Marquis, in addition to looking like a supermodel, is super warm and exudes know-how. She talks to you at length about your habits, your genes, the shape of your teeth, etc. etc. She doesn’t rush at all and makes you feel totally valuable, not just another item on the factory line.

I have been going to SF Dental Office for a couple years now… and have nothing but positive things to say about the dentist and the office team. Not only is the office decor beautiful and welcoming… everyone is so nice. It is such a friendly place and the equipment is very modern… all my other experiences include creepy, depressing office spaces… if you have to go to the dentist… this is the places to go. My teeth have never looked or felt better. I nor my husband… who has different insurance than me… have never had any problems with billing or expensive treatments. I think some people should blame insurance not the dentist.

I honestly don’t get the bad reviews, and I’m even a “glass half empty” kind of guy.  I have gold-plated dental insurance that would make this office a fortune if they wanted to max it out.  When I went there late in the year after not having used my insurance the rest of the year, something that says JACKPOT to most dentists, they pressured and upsold me not even a tiny little bit.  Heck, I had to bring up some dental work I wanted (veneers), and they convinced me that those could probably wait. I’ve been to dentists with fancier gear and spa-like amenities, but I’ve never felt the need for those here, because Danny puts me at ease like no one else, and so do her hygenists (I’ve actually switched dentists based on bad hygenists alone).  When someone’s going about your mouth with metal hooks, needles, and pneumatic drills, personality really _matters_, and Dr Marquis has warmth and reassurance in abundance.

I’m shocked reading some negatives reviews below.. I’ve been to this office quite a few times for 2 regular cleanings, 1 deep cleaning, 8 large fillings (some were new but some were more than 10 years old and needed to be replaced), and a crown. Dr. Marquis is simply amazing! Everything feels and looks great! Talking about crowns, they have this unbelievable high tech machine that makes your crowns right there in the office in front of your eyes – very cool to watch 🙂 That’s being said, every single time I was satisfied with the service I received and everyone in the office was very pleasant and professional. I have another crown to finish and have my appointment already scheduled with no any hesitation.. I guess you cannot always please everyone, but still can’t believe someone actually had such negative experience with this office. Would absolutely recommend this place to all my friends! Btw, I don’t understand how they can “overcharge” as some reviews below suggest… if you have insurance, then the rates are all predetermined and they can not just charge whatever they like.  If you don’t have insurance, then every single dental office will charge you a higher rate than what it would be with insurance.

A really fantastic dental office. Dr. Marquis is really attend full with her patients making them feel very comfortable. She and her staff do a really amazing job – along with a great curtsy call the next day. 🙂 . She really goes the extra mile for her patients. The office is really amazing, parking is slightly an issue but once you get into her office the view of the bay-bridge is amazing! They try any and everything to make you feel comfortable.

I’m actually shocked to read any negative reviews.  I have seen both Drs. here, a number of hygienists, and have nothing but positive things to say.  The x-rays were not painful, nor were the fillings or the cleanings.  I’ve also greatly appreciated the advice they given in regards to suggested procedures and associated costs. I signed up for Yelp solely to lend my positive commentary to this discussion, as I’ve recommended many a colleague and have yet to hear any personal stories with the hint of negativity.

I have to write my positive review of Dr. Marquis’ office even through I have moved to another city. I loved Anna, my gentle hygienist, and my always-smiling male technician as well. The whole staff was very caring and my dental cleanings were extremely gentle. Dr. Marquis resolved my ongoing problem of sensitivity near my roots by adding small fillings along my gum line. I had very sensitive teeth because I had braces from ages 9-12 and over-brushed, so I have permanent erosion. I had no more painful sensitivity after that. She also made me a wonderful custom night guard so I don’t grind my teeth.
