I wish there were more stars that I could rate. I am a very nervous patient in the chair. I recently went to another Dental office where they stated that I needed ALOT of dental work, a couple of crowns, fillings and a deep cleaning. It just didn’t seem right since they didn’t take the time to actually look in my mouth. they only check a couple of pockets in my mouth and identified the deep cleaning (every other dentist i went to checked every tooth and every surface and i have never needed a deep cleaning before) . He just looked at my mouth and diagnosed crowns. I didn’t feel comfortable so I made an appointment to see Dr. Rai since i have always heard good things. He determined that i Did NOT need all of that dental work, i was so relieved. He fit me in to his schedule as soon as he could. And on the day of my appointment he did everything he could to make me feel comfortable and to calm any nerves that i had. They adjusted the music to my liking, provided blankets to make me comfortable, and were constantly checking to see how i was feeling during the procedure. i have never been more excited to go back to a dental office in my life. Thank you Dr. Rai for taking away years and years of traumatic experiences with the dentist.

Just discovered this place about 3 years ago, and i have to say it is a great place to get your dental work done. The staff and atmosphere is relaxing, and they worked as hard as they could to not only fix my problem, but to do it as pain freely as possible. They even have television sets mounted to the chairs. I had a wonderful experience at Dr. Rei’s office. I, as do most, suffer from dental procedure related anxiety and have an extremely low threshold for pain. Not only did Dr. Rei and his staff address my anxiety, and pain, they were also patient and caring. They made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire procedure. Dr. Rei made sure that I was properly numb and relaxed prior to moving forward with my procedure. The staff was so considerate, I even had a blanket and was able to watch my favorite television show!!! Needless to say, my dental concern was properly diagnosed and treated too. I truly felt that I was at a spa and would highly recommend Dr. Rei!

When I first met Dr. Rai and his staff, a few months ago (Sept. 2013), my only intention was to have my teeth examined and cleaned. I hadn’t been feeling all that happy with my regular dentist. This disenchantment had led to me putting off getting my teeth cleaned and getting some necessary crown work done. How fortunate for me that Dr. Rai had put a super deal of a coupon on Groupon. I went in, met with Dr. Rai and felt instantly as though I had made one of the best decisions of my life. What a lovely and gentle man he is. His assistant and hygienist are both top notch, too. All the staff are happy and smiling. It’s obvious that they like being there. The doctor showed me what other work I needed done. He explained everything thoroughly. No matter how many questions I asked, he answered each one patiently. Using a special lens and camera, Dr. Rai showed me exactly what I needed done and why. Part of the reason I had put off the necessary maintenance for my teeth is because I don’t have any dental benefits/insurance. Dr. Rai offered me a special plan, where I will save 100s of dollars. Hooray! After my first visit, I had two of my family members make appointments to have their teeth cleaned and examined. They came home very happy, telling me how much they liked their new dentist. I highly recommend Dr. Rai. Don’t hesitate to go in to see him. It may well be one of the best decisions of your life, too.

I enjoyed the experience there when i loathe going to most dentists. His professionalism and knowledge are very high caliber, and he always seeks to make the patient feel very comfortable. I like the soft music, the comfy massage type chair i was in, and the way he explains what’s going on in there. I’d recommend him to anyone who’s been wary of dentists who are insensitive to their patient’s comfort for sure. Dr. Rai and his staff provide gentle and professional care every time I visit. I have been a patient at Santa Barbara Dental Spa for 3 years. The office is very clean and inviting. I’ve been seeing Hayley, the dental hygienist for over a year and she has always been fantastic – gentle and sensitive to my teeth cleaning needs! Last week I was in excruciating pain over a wisdom tooth and they were able to get me in for an evaluation later in the day. Dr. Rai was also exceptionally gentle with my aching tooth, and they were able to schedule me for an extraction just three days later. Pretty happy now, if you ask me! Update- I’ve now had my wisdom teeth removed, and I have to say it was a rather pleasant experience. I was incredibly nervous and Dr. Rai and his dental assistants really took care of me – from making sure my feet weren’t cold to explaining what he was doing along the way. The three hours passed really quickly! The evening after my extractions, Dr. Rai personally called me to check in, see how I was feeling and ask if I had any questions for him. I really feel I’ve been well taken care of.

Dr. Rai and his staff are exceptionally caring and attentive to each and every one of their patient’s specific needs. My experience has been great at the office, and I feel so comfortable and at ease when I am there- which is a very difficult concept to grasp in any dentist’s office! The technology that Dr. Rai uses is extremely high tech, and his meticulous work is seen positively with every different case that he encounters. He treats his patients as his own friends, and his dental assistants are so amazing and sweet. I have had many problems with cavities in the past, and it can be very overwhelming when it comes to treatments and dentist visits. Dr. Rai and his staff are great about taking everything one step at a time, and making sure that it is done the right way. I have been to many dentists during my long lifetime, and none has been better than Dr. Rai. His manner is calm, supportive and caring, his evaluation is accurate, and his treatment recommendation is precisely what is needed. His staff is equally capable, supportive and caring. Haley is the best hygienist I have ever experienced, providing gentle, efficient and complete cleaning and supportive guidance. I have seen Dr. Rai for the past couple of years, and had a few fillings and some minor cosmetic work done. Recently I made the mistake of going to another (very highly rated) dentist to take advantage of a special deal, since I am on a very tight budget. I was told I needed two crowns and a root canal, an assessment apparently based on their poor x-ray evaluation and their inclination to do excessive work. I immediately went to Santa Barbara Dental Spa, where Leslie followed her wise hunch and immediately arranged a (free!) x-ray of the problem tooth, shot personally by Dr. Rai. He then discussed the x-ray with me, and it was obvious to me that the new x-ray equipment was far superior, but more importantly that the angle of the x-ray exposure he chose was key in providing accurate information. Leslie followed up with creatively finding the most cost-effective means of payment (which did not require loans or high-interest credit offered by the “other place”). Santa Barbara Dental Spa saved me great unnecessary expense, but more importantly from an unnecessary molar murder by root canal and two crowns, and instead provided an accurate set of x-rays, an honest evaluation and two minor fillings. Go to the right place the first time: go to Santa Barbara Dental Spa.

Dr. Rai is by far the best dentist I’ve ever experienced in my dental life. The dental treatment I had done was very extensive however the results are absolutely incredible. I can’t stop smiling. I’ve always had a pleasant experience at Santa Barbara Dental Spa. The office is so relaxing, the staff is friendly and eager to make you feel as comfortable as possible and the technology is top notch. For me, the purpose of going to a dental office is to receive tooth care with as little stress as possible, and the work provided by Dr. Rai and his staff is second to none. Dr. Rai takes the time to answer any questions fully, and the exceptional quality of his work reflects experience and a genuine caring about his patients. I’ve had cavities filled and old fillings replaced, and most recently had enamel repaired on several teeth, which look and feel perfect now. And of course his staff is of the same caliber. The hygienist, Haley, does outstanding work quickly and comfortably, and is only supportive in her conversation and interaction. For the first time, I have found a dentist and a hygienist I actually look forward to seeing again. I noticed some reviews that complained about the equipment in the office. I’ve had a great experience every time I’ve been there, and have noticed nothing negative about equipment. If you’re looking for the best care for your teeth at a reasonable cost, I can give them only the highest recommendation

Dr. Rie and his staff are fantastic! I’ve been through a dental nightmare for the past several months. I am so glad I found Dr Rie…he is a dream. Dentists are not my favorite by far. After seeing several around town, this dental office is the kindest, most professional and personally calming. After all the trouble of dental work and just strange experiences with dentists in SB, Dr. Rie made me feel like I actually will get quality care. In my opinion Dr. Rie feels safe. He acknowledges my fear. My pain is treated properly. Not minimized as I have experienced with other dentists. Unfortunately, I have a great deal of dental work ahead of me. I did my research when I moved to this area and I think it says something that other dentists choose to come up from LA to have Dr. Rai work on them and their families. 6 years later and I still feel that Dr. Rai and his staff are the best around. Yet somehow they’re always identifying the little ways they can improve your experience even more. Let’s be frank, whatever you call it it’s still the dentist so it’s definitely the little things that count: like fresh flowers when you come in, the ability to have neck and shoulder massages when you’ll be in the chair for a while (cavitiy -ugh!), just the soothing spa-like sites and sounds upon arrival set you at ease in a way you don’t get elsewhere. The thing I’ve always been most impressed with by Dr. Rai is his commitment to education and continually advancing his skills. I have been a patient of Dr. Rai for 10 years now and he is very empathetic and a great listener. He makes me feel very important and is very respectful. He is very attentive to your dental health. Edgar the Treatment/Benefits Coordinator does a superior job at getting me in appointments that are convenient for me including a day when I was free I called to see if I can get in for a check up and he let me know that someone just cancelled their appointment so I was able to go in their place. Edgar designed a treatment plan for me that worked well with my busy schedule and coordinated it with my benefits to work out for me financially as well. Michelle Seibenberg the Dental Hygientist helps you to relax and not worry about a thing and she assures me that she will treat the urgent matter and also the appearance of my teeth. Dr. Rai is an exquisite artistic sculptor! Having not taken very good care of my teeth as a child, I was having problems with major decay and Dr. Rai crafted a work of art for my mouth and I LOVE smiling again! He is a very warm, friendly person and patiently (no pun intended) explains causes, symptoms and recommends various treatments for any and all dental matters. I adore Dr. Rai and his staff is exceptional! I’ve been going to see him for 5+ years now. He’s kept my teeth clean & even helped me better align my bite which helped eliminate the headaches I was having. I used to hate the dentist because I had one of those evil Charlie & the Chocolate Factory types but Dr. Rai is nice, funny, and passionate about educating his clients on better teeth care. Dr. Rai seems to stay up with the latest tools and techniques for taking care of his clients. I was impressed to learn that he was engaged with a group of expert dentists from all over So Cal who meet frequently to discuss new dentistry techniques and tools. I appreciate his desire to continue educating himself. The spa feeling is certainly unexpected and soothing, too. It helps deal with getting your teeth cleaned when you know you can have a neck and shoulder massage during. 🙂 Oh and I was impressed that the new place (Chapala and Mission) has parking too! Just pull in and drive to the back of the driveway – you’ll find a paved parking lot at the bottom of the hill.

When my wife told me she made an appointment for me to go to the dentist, I was scared. I hadn’t been to a dentist in 4+ years because of the pain and apparent lack of caring for my discomfort that I’d experienced at the last place I’d visited. Santa Barbara Dental Spa was the complete opposite. They began by informing me of several options to ease my fears, including multiple numbing agents, anti-anxiety pills, and even an anesthesiologist to come and put me out for the entire procedure if I wanted one. I didn’t end up needing anything other than the numbing agents, but it was really nice to know they were available. Dr. Rai is the embodiment of friendliness, consideration and professionalism. He genuinely cared about my wellbeing. He explained everything I needed to know concisely, and completely abstained from even the hint of a lecture. Ultimately, I had two fillings and one replacement filling. But through each session, I watched Law & Order while feeling no pain whatsoever. He even had a comfortable wedge that propped my mouth open for me, so I didn’t have to think about it. I also had 4 deep cleaning sessions with Haley, who (not to be outdone) was just as considerate, professional, and concerned for my wellbeing as Dr. Rai. She was very informative about the hows and whys of brushing and flossing, and answered all of my questions while being really friendly and not the least bit critical. I would recommend Santa Barbara Dental Spa to anyone! Their team managed my appointments so well, including working around my schedule, calling/emailing with appointment reminders, and Dr. Rai personally called to check on me a day or two after each appointment. I know that my wife shopped around a lot to try and find a dentist that I’d be comfortable with. She even called around in LA, which would have been worth the trip to me had I not found Santa Barbara Dental Spa.

Without doubt the Best Dentist / Dental work that I’ve ever had! In my 37 years I’ve NEVER had a Pain-Free dental experience, until now. I kept waiting for the pain (like lightning-strikes to my nerves, that is what I’m accustomed too when having my teeth worked on) to begin, and then Dr. Rai was done! There is nothing better than having resigned myself to unpleasantness, and then not experiencing it! Also, everybody at the office (which is calm and comfortable environment) was very pleasant and informative, which further put me at ease.
