I recently got a root canal – which for me was a BIG DEAL ( I have passed out in a dentist chair before) . I previously had a root canal done. It was long, a little painful and left me with a gap in my mouth that trapped food. Dr. Serang suggested I get it redone and informed me that the gap shouldn’t even be there. I put it off because of my last experience. Good thing I took his advice because he knocked it out the park. Proper application of Lidocaine on my gums before injecting the Novocaine rendered the procedure painless. But let’s back up! The temporary implant he put in before getting the crown was a perfect fit and colored well. Dr. Serang explained my options and weighed the pros and cons with me. He was knowledgeable, friendly and super good at his job. I used to hate going to the dentist, with this guy and his staff, I would gladly go every month! In fact, can we get a check up 3 times a year, instead of two!?

Dr. Serang is a dentist who does everything he can to make you feel welcome and comfortable while providing you with top-notch dental care. I was very impressed that Dr. Serang cleaned my teeth on my first appointment so he could get to know me and my teeth. I was also impressed by his knowledge of holistic health. Later I had a dental emergency, and he went out of his way to get me in and then to see a specialist as soon as possible. Like most people, I don’t enjoy getting work done on my teeth, but since going to Serang Dental Associates, my anxiety about the experience has completely disappeared.

Dr. Serang is wonderful! Went in for a routine cleaning this week and was very impressed by the attentiveness of the entire staff. My teeth are EXTREMELY sensitive, which usually make even the simple checks and cleanings painful. Not this time! Dr Serang is different than other dentists. He really cares, and does his best to do right by the patient. I came off of 4 years with a dentist who I didn’t feel really listened to me, and charged me a lot of money for things I’m not sure I needed. After one 20 minute conversation with Dr. Serang I felt much more comfortable that this guy would tell me the truth and not try to gouge me. Highly recommend him! I haven’t been going to him long enough to know if his work lasts the test of time, but the dental surgeon that he sent me to for my dental implant told me that Dr Serang was his favorite too, and the surgeon even gives Dr Serang’s patients a break because he’s a great dentist and doesn’t give headaches. I’d say thats a pretty good endorsement as well!

Love this place! I had Lumineers installed by another dentist who did a terrible job so I had to have them removed and replaced:( Dr. Serang did an excellent job! And this was no easy matter! Now, I need to do the same for my lower veneers, which were, also, very poorly installed! So that’s my next project. I trust Dr. Serang will do an outstanding job. I am back after my six lower veneers were removed and replaced too due to gum disease. I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Serang and his super friendly staff! I just love going there. Now both my upper and lower gums have recovered. They are pink and healthy and Dr. Serang made it happen! Absolutely outstanding job! I highly recommend him.

Dr Serang and his amazing team do everything possible to make their patients feel like they are family. In the middle of a very busy day Dr. Serang called me to discuss my husband’s TMJ symptoms. They all listened and understood my concerns and fears and treated me accordingly. I no longer have ANY fear or concern going to the dentist thanks to the way they conduct business. I grew up in an impoverished house where there was no floss, where we drank sugary, artificially flavored orange juice right before bed, and where brushing teeth was just an occasional, voluntary habit. I was never taken to a dentist until I was a teenager dealing with an excruciating toothache, and at that very first visit I was told I would need two root canals. As an adult capable of leading an orderly life, I became much more conscientious about brushing throughout the day and flossing at least once every night, but by that point significant damage had already been done. My teeth are weak. I grind them in my sleep at night, which doesn’t help. They’re crooked, a trainwreck. Although my dental hygiene is now top notch, I can’t escape the damage that’s already been done. In the past, I’ve dealt with dentists who blamed me and treated me like garbage. My dentist in DC shamed me for, in his opinion, having worse teeth than villagers he had operated on in Jamaica. As a white American, he told me, I shouldn’t have such bad teeth. I visited him over a dozen times without insurance and put thousands of dollars on my credit card. I vigorously brushed every day using expensive fluoride-loaded toothpastes that I bought online. But even that couldn’t stop the march of decay. My dentist in Austin treated me like a specimen. His practice was completely open to other patients, with no privacy whatsoever, probably because that was the cheapest floorplan possible. While operating on my tooth one day, without asking my permission or saying anything to me at all, he loudly called over all the dental hygienists to come marvel over my mouth, referring to my tooth pulp as “shoe leather” and acting like he was a barker at a freak show. “Would you look at that? That’s textbook. That’s got to be about the worst I’ve ever seen.” Meanwhile, the angry woman at the front desk was essentially running a scam, trying to milk the customers for as much money as they could legally get. Even though I had insurance, they had found a way to charge people for anesthesia. They had, in fact, found a way to charge patients for absolutely everything and then some. Going to that dentist was one of the most thoroughly unpleasant experiences of my life. So, yes, I’m afraid of the dentist–but not because of the pain or because of the drill. I’m afraid of dentists themselves. But then my husband told me about Dr. Serang. I really mean it when I say that this guy is the absolute best. I joined Yelp so that I could write a positive review for him. He’s honest, he’s open, he’s friendly. He tells you what your options are, and you can always trust that he has your best interests at heart. He’s a doctor who clearly wants to help people above all else. And, at least as far as I can tell, he’s very good at his job. He’s fixed my teeth without once making me feel overwhelmed or uncomfortable, and that really does mean a lot to me. And it’s not just him, either. The whole staff and the office itself is warm, down to earth, and accommodating. Honestly, and I say this without exaggeration, recommending Dr. Serang is about the most wholehearted recommendation I can possibly give.

This is a great place to go for Dental Care. The office is lovely. Very soothing and nicely decorated..which helps when you are nervous about being at the dentist in the first place! Dr. Serang, is an amazing dentist. I have a whole host of work that needs to be done and during my first visit they took the time out to still do a cleaning. Which is big because every other dentist I went to wouldn’t do a cleaning without the dental work being completed first. I had a few extractions today and Dr. Serang answer my million and one questions and provided me with great information. Not only have my cleanings gone amazingly well, Dr. Serang fixed a gap left from a poorly done root canal. The things I felt were just normal, the pain, the gap left, the poor temporary fit, were all things Dr. Serang proved he could do better. His hygienist are top notch, friendly, and give great advice on dental care. Dipping my floss in Listerine, brushing at an angle, even how to properly use an electronic tooth brush correctly were all very well explained. I can not recommend this guy enough. If you are looking for a new dentist, this guy is top notch and a class act! My smile has never been better!

This is the first time I have ever been so upset with a place as to leave a negative review. I was a patient here for approximately three years and over that time, had several cavities filled. At the time, I did not believe they were well done–after the fillings were done, there were large pockets between my teeth where food would be captured. I mentioned this to Dr. Serang, and he dismissed my concern. Well, I finally found a new dentist, and sure enough, I have five cavities, four of which are from the fillings I had done at Serang Dental. My new dentist remarked several times at how poorly done my latest round of fillings were and how they were not done with attention to detail, which is what created the gaps. I am very angry. I have a lot of dental anxiety, which Dr. Serang tried to make me feel bad about despite having witnessed me have an embarrassing panic attack the first time I was scheduled for fillings with him. After that terrible experience, I asked for a prescription to ease my nerves for the first time in my life, which he tried to dissuade me from repeatedly, attempting to make me feel ashamed and guilty about my anxiety attack as though it was something I could control. Now, I have to have even more dental work done just to undo the shoddy work I received at Serang Dental. I would give one star, but I always received great care from the receptionists and hygienists. If you do not need any fillings done, this is a good enough place to go. If you are prone to cavities, go elsewhere.

It seems strange to me to like a dental office so much, but they are amazing. I came to Serang after a bad experience at another chain dental office in the area. The two things I look for in a dental office is good work and no upselling, which is exactly what I got here. About a year ago, I moved to South Philly and I still make the effort to come here and get my teeth cleaned. You probably won’t be able to get an appointment right away (it took me about 3-4 weeks to get in) but it’s worth getting in.

Wow! This office is lovely and so are the staff. Dr. Serang did an excellent job cleaning & checking my teeth. I have super-sensitive teeth & gums & am very picky when it comes to my mouth/teeth being touched. Dr. Serang has a gentle touch & relaxed demeanor & I immediately felt comfortable and at ease. The dental chairs are soft and comfy & the rooms have flat-screen TVs for watching during long procedures & also reviewing your digital X-rays. (How cool is that?) I had a few cavities filled by Dr. Serang & honestly, it was a nearly painless experience! He took time to adjust everything perfectly & addressed all my concerns.
