I’ll add my accolades as well. Not only is he soft-spoken and calming, he also uses his tools like a maestro, carefully drilling, filing and filling like a pro while always explaining what he was about to do to minimize unpleasant surprises. He wields his anesthesia like he was sprinkling fairy dust, administering just enough to allow it to start working before he uses more, so that not even that part is at all painful or even unpleasant. The fact that he came in on a day off to do all this, and did not charge any more for that favor, just made the entire experience painless and pleasant, as much as was possible.

Outstanding Endodontic! This coming from a nervious and suspicious patient. I trusted my regular dentist, but the words of a root canal and specialist raised all my fears. Root Canal has a bad reputation. Everyone I asked, came up with one name: Dr. Bani Dr. Bani explains the entire procedure making sure I understood what was going on. He gave a recommendation, based on the facts and yet still gave me the right and respect to decide for myself what course of action to take. Never once did I feel any pain during the procedure. The results were excellent. A humble and respectful man with concern and care for his patients. He even personally called me in the evening to make sure everything was going ok. Just amazing, a personal call! His staff are also all extremely nice. 5 stars, Highly recommended.

Dr. Banihashemi was wonderful!  Very thorough and extremely wise.  I went to him for a second opinion on a root canal (done one year ago that is still painful), and his feedback was fantastic. I feel so much better! His kindness and humor were much appreciated! The office could not be cleaner. And the staff was delightful!  If I ever need another root canal, he has my business!  Recommend him highly!!  Feel lucky to have found him!  :0)

Dr. Bani is great! I’m a dental coward, mainly about shots. He took his time, numbing me in stages. I had an infection under the roots of a tooth in my lower jaw, which needed 2 sessions to work on. Both times, after numb, I felt no pain. When the anesthesia wore off, my lower jaw started aching. I took his advice as to (non-narcotic) medication and was comfortable the rest of the week. Yesterday, I had the second appointment, and he worked on the tooth a good 75+ minutes. Today I have no pain! He explains everything as he goes along. He was great!

Hands down absolutely wonderful Dr, if I could give him 100 stars I would! Had the most pleasant experience seeing him for a retreat and the follow up call I got the following day to check on me was the most thoughtful. Truly the best! He and his assistant are absolutely fantastic!

Dr. Bani is such a great root specialist. You don’t feel a thing, even the injections, ‘as I’m a total scare baby.’ His a genuine, honest, caring & a gentle human being. I wish more dentist were like him. His work is exceptional. Plus he always takes the time to explain, so I could fully understand. I’ve had to have over the many years a few a root canals, I only go back to Dr Bani. Plus most importantly he does not rush into root canal until he’s 100% sure, that is your issue. Of course I’ll always refer my friends & clients to him. His long time assistant Greta & receptionist are just as nice as he. That normally speaks volumes. He also takes the time to call you after to see how you are feeling. Thanks Dr Bani & don’t retire anytime soon, please!

I’m amazed! I was referred to Dr. Banihashemi (Dr. Bani) by a friend. This gentleman knows his stuff better than I have seen over the years. He gave me the numbing shots for my root canal and all the time was telling me the process and truly, there was NO PAIN. This gentle physician makes you feel that you are in the hands of a master and a compassionate human being, who even calls you at home after the procedure. He gives you a painless experience since root canals are not easy. Hopefully I won’t need another root canal but if I do, I will definitely use Dr. Bani

I feel so grateful to have found this amazing professional to have some dreaded dental work performed. The root canal is swamped with horror stories. Dr. B, took as much time as was needed to make sure I felt nothing. I kept waiting for this excruciating nerve pain but I felt nothing. He was a master of his craft, and great guy with a sense of humor. He likes what he does and you feel it. Put all your worries away and just “get it done.” This guy will make your experience better than just okay. I pray that I don’t need a root canal again but you bet if I did, I’m coming back again

My first root canal. I was so nervous. I’ve only heard bad things about them. And the pain. Well I’m happy to say if I ever need another this is the doctor I choose. Explained in detail what was happening each step along the way. The numbing was painless and I usually clench at the drilling but it was fast and minimal. He personally called to check up on me and I never had any discomfort. What’s all the fuss about root canals?? Come to Dr. Bani. The best.

Lisa C. from Burbank, CA (Source: Yelp)

The Bob Ross of root canals. You won’t regret going to see Dr. Bani. He’s very kind, gentle, and thorough. He explains the procedure well. He takes his time to make sure you are completely numb. All of his staff are pleasant as well. After you have work done, he calls you at home later that night to check in on you. I’ll admit that I’ve avoided going to the dentist in the past when I have tooth pain, but I won’t be doing that anymore now that I’ve found Dr. Bani. If I ended up needing another root canal it wouldn’t be a big deal to me anymore.

An outstanding doctor! Genuinely cares about helping his patients and is super gentle. He’s very compassionate and never hesitates to answer questions. He even calls you the night of your treatment to check on you and see how you’re doing. Such an exceptional doctor! Highly recommend him!!

I was recommended to this specialist from my dentist in tujunga. At first I was reluctant because I do not do well in dentist. I had a curved root and my dentist wasn’t able to do it. When I got there I greeted by the doctor and took me to my room and explained the whole process. He then started step by step numbing etc and when he started drilling asked again just to let them know if it is hurting again. The process was quick and painless.

Dr. Bani expertly conducted a root canal for one of my Mother’s molars.  He was clearly a specialist, and exuded competence and professionalism.  He made my Mother feeling at ease, and was careful in his work.  I would highly recommend him.

If you’re here reading reviews, it means that you are in need of a root canal. It sucks, I know. I was also in need of a root canal and here reading reviews of Dr. Bani… after he was recommended to me by my boss. I have to say that reading all the reviews of “Dr. Bani makes a root canal fun!” – I was still very skeptical. “Root canal” has such a terrible ring to it – we have all been conditioned to recoil at the mere mention of it. Well, I am here to tell you that all the positive reviews of Dr. Bani are correct. Okay, I wouldn’t say a root canal is FUN by any means – but if you need one, you should go to Dr. Bani. He makes the whole experience… pleasant. Honestly the worst part of a root canal is having your jaw open for a longer amount of time than you are used to. If you have had a filling, a root canal is just a filling that takes longer. It’s not some barbaric terrifying experience. Technology has made it really good, you guys. I did not have an infection in my root so I only had one appointment. I was TOTALLY numb (he is a master at making sure you are totally numbed up) so I didn’t feel a thing. At all. The whole thing is pretty quick – he gets the root/nerve out pretty fast then it’s just a matter of filing and cleaning the tooth up. It’s just such a relief knowing that annoying root/nerve is gone! Honestly the discomfort I felt from that root/nerve when chewing and drinking cold drinks was WAY worse than a root canal! I think there may have been a little pain in the jaw in the days following the root canal but nothing worse than when that tooth had a nerve. Maybe a day of taking Advil or something but it wasn’t bad at all – I think I was expecting it to really hurt after. I think most of the discomfort after was from having my jaw open. If I ever need another root canal, I would go back to Dr. Bani in a heartbeat.

What an amazing person as well as skillful and compassionate doctor! Dr. Bani, thank you for taking care of me to the highest of standards and for recommending me to Dr. Darbabian – he is very nice. Opinions can be subjective so let me tell you the facts so you can best make up your mind about this dentist. Dr. Bani is a very kind person, very clam, has empathy (so rare in a doctor) and is very, very good at what he does. He was present when dealing with me, not rushing off to see several patients at once, but actually focused on me and solving my problem. He takes his time administering anesthetic, slowly and patiently. That means that you do not feel a thing. Not a single twitch. He listened to me, he asked questions, and he explained every single step to me. His temperament perfectly suits his profession. I was very wary of having anyone poke at my tooth because I’ve had low-grade pain for five years since the original root canal with another dentist. Dr. Bani showed me clearly on a digital x-ray residual nerve that had been left intact after the original root canal and that’s what was causing the pain. I had two sessions with Dr. Bani, one to replace the old root canal with medication, a two week healing period, then a second session to make the root canal permanent. I can’t tell you the relief to have the anesthetic wear off after the second session to find that the pain was finally gone. I am sore after having two surgeries, but a healing kind of sore, and for the first time in five years, I have absolutely no pain. Dr. Bani has two incredibly rare qualities in a doctor, he is dedicated to solving the problem and is genuinely concerned about taking away your pain. He even called me personally after both sessions to check up on me. I could not believe that level of service. I wish more health care professionals were as dedicated and as interested in finding solutions for their patients as Dr. Bani is. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. I wish I had gone to him in the first place all of those years ago. **Their office has parking on site, and there is free two-hour street parking nearby**

I have gone to Dr Bani for many root canals over many years now, today included. He is wonderful, and today in particular I experienced no pain in the process nor after, really…no pain. He explains the process completely and asks if you have questions. He checked on me tonight and called to see how I was doing. He is a very caring, considerate doctor. I highly recommend him.

Getting a root canal is never fun and never something you plan for, but I am so glad I was referred to Dr. Banihashemi because I felt like I was in such good hands. He’s a caring doctor that works with you and constantly checks to make sure you aren’t scared or in pain/ are comfortable. I had a horribly infected tooth and he took time to have precision over my tooth’s healing. He even made time to see me for a last minute appointment before I left for a 3months trip to Italy. I cannot recommend him high enough.

This is my very first Yelp review and I am so glad that it’s for Dr. Bani.  I was never one to freak out too much about dental procedures, but I had to have my first root canal and I think the stigma attached to the procedure had my imagination running wild and I had some serious anxiety about it. Dr. Bani, from minute one, helped me remain calm, explained everything about what he was doing, numbed me gradually so that not even the first injection hurt, stayed with me the whole time to make sure I was ok, made me comfortable, was gentle, and was both meticulous and fast. I left wondering what the heck I was so scared of in the first place. He told me what to expect afterwards (some jaw soreness from the injections which has now, less than 48 hours later, passed). He even called me that evening to make sure I was ok.  Thanks to everyone who reviewed him as well because reading your reviews right before the procedure also helped to alleviate my anxiety. While I hope I don’t have to have another one, if I do, I only hope that Dr. Bani is still practicing!

Honesty, I’m just echoing the sentiment of all of Dr. Bani’s other patients. I had terrible pain come on swiftly from a tooth that needed a root canal. My dentist couldn’t get me in with an endodontist for another 2 weeks. A friend referred me to Dr. Bani and I am so glad she did. When I say everything was absolutely painless – from the numbing shot to the actual procedure to even my after care, I’m not kidding. This was my second root canal and I was nervous because my first (performed by another endodontist) was painful and uncomfortable. Dr. Bani is not only amazing at what he does, he’s extremely caring and charismatic too. You almost forget you’re getting a root canal when you’re in the chair with him because he makes you feel so at ease. He even called later that evening to make sure I was ok and wasn’t in pain. I wish every doctor was as caring and amazing as Dr. Bani! Now I won’t even fret if I ever need another root canal (hopefully not) because I know I’ll be in good hands. If you’re in need of an endodontist, do yourself a favor and call Dr. Bani!

I was really scared going into my first root canal. I mean, root canal sounds like the worst thing in the world in popular culture, right? Dr. Bani was awesome! Very gentle and soothing. Made sure I had no pain. I’m also a gagger, but he was so careful, I didn’t even gag once. He’s excellent!

Dr. Bani is the greatest. He is respectful to his patient’s needs. Very caring and professional. Would not go to anyone else for root canals.

I had a root canal from Dr. Bani when I was a teenager–probably 7 years ago. I’d never WANT to get a root canal again, but I would be happy to go see Dr. Bani. He’s extremely nice, funny, and most importantly, a complete pro. It’s hard to worry with him as your doctor. I had zero pain and zero complications. It didn’t handle the issue we were hoping it would, but that was at no fault of Dr. Bani. Whenever I get x-rays, dentists comment on what a good job he did. I always thought root canals were terrible and painful. That may be true elsewhere, but from my experience, not from Dr. Bani. Highly recommended.

I have known and worked with dr. Banihashimi  for over 30 years. I’m a dentist about two miles from his office,  and there are so many attributes that make him special to his referring dentists and the patients who are referred to him. The list is very long so I’ll try and keep it to a manageable list. Tremendous expertise, kind, extremely gentle, knowledgeable, not overwhelming or scaring patients. When you go to see him and you’re afraid of the word root canal, he will sit down and thoroughly explain what a root canal is, and after a very comprehensive exam, he will make a recommendation of possibly not needing a root canal, needing a root canal, or something else in your best interest. He never ever recommend something that the patient does not need. If there is any wiggle room and the decision to perform a root canal or to watch it and see how it goes oh, yes you guessed it he will watch it and try and nurse it along and possibly help you forego a root canal. So if what I’ve mentioned makes you believe somebody who is in the profession who believes in this doctor leave your fears at the door and you are in good hands honest hands skilled hands  that comes from a kind h

I’ve never posted a review on Yelp, but my experience today with Dr. Bani was so wonderful that I want to shout it from the rooftops. I needed a root canal and I was pretty terrified, but I’m so grateful that my dentist sent me to Dr. Bani. At the beginning of my appointment, he took the time to explain exactly what was going on with my tooth, what he’d be doing to fix it, and what I’d feel afterward, etc. He also just made general conversation and was so funny and kind, which made me feel really comfortable. He assured me that a root canal was a super easy procedure and when I expressed my fear that I would feel pain (because almost every filling I’ve gotten has been painful), he listened and said he’d be sure to make me extra numb. He did multiple checks, verbal and physical, for numbness at each phase. I never felt a thing. It was completely painless and quick. He prepared me for what I might feel when the numbness wears off and told me what medicine to take for what should be very minor pain. The numbness has now worn off, and there’s virtually no pain, just the tiniest bit of soreness. Who ever thought a root canal experience could be so great?! Oh, and Dr. Bani himself called me this evening to check and see how I was feeling! I wish every doctor was as kind and skilled as he is. If you need an Endodontist, get yourself to Dr. Bani ASAP.

Oh my goodness! Just got back from my very first root canal and this has been the best experience I’ve ever had at the dentist. I told Dr. Bani I was nervous and he was so kind, explained everything in terms I could understand, and numbed me so I felt absolutely nothing. During the root canal he explained what he was doing, how my tooth was looking, and what I should be doing for aftercare. We broke my root canal up into two visits so I’ll be back and I’m actually looking forward to it. While I was waiting to have it done in the room before I met him, I damn near cried, I was so nervous. Now, I feel great. He also sorted out a payment plan with me — and it’s completely up to me what dates I pay on!   If you’re not referred to Dr. Bani, find a way to see him!

While my husband was technically the patient here, I sat in on his root canal and need to share the experience. From start to finish, Dr. Bani helped put my husband at ease. We both enjoyed talking with Dr. Bani on topics ranging from language, to music, to politics. It was actually a fun experience, and afterwards my husband specifically told me to yelp about Dr. Bani and how wonderful he is. So I am. And FYI, my husband didn’t feel any pain. The only discomfort he complained about was having to hold his jaw open, and that was it.

Dr. Bani is amazing. I had a slightly traumatic previous experience with a root canal and was completely terrified of having to go through the procedure again. Dr. Bani could not have been more reassuring and he followed thru. It was a good as a root canal could possibly be. Highly recommend!!!

Just wanted to add my stars to all the stars here. Never met the man but when I came in for an emergency appointment (referred by the also amazing Dr. Zareh Kouyoumdjian) he treated me like I’d been a patient for 20 years. This kind of attention would have been amazing coming from my mom let alone a brand new dentist. Simply cannot recommend more! Four months later: I ended up needing a root canal and, even though he is out of my insurance group, I stuck with him. It’s simply impossible to overstate how great he is. When is the last time you had a doctor of any kind call you HIMSELF at 7pm the evening of your appoinment to ask how you’re doing. C’mon! Twenty billion stars.

Dr. Bani is the best!!!! I hate going to get root canals (who doesn’t), but I LOVE going to him! He makes you feel at ease and explains everything that’s going to happen in a way that you can understand. If there are other options, he’ll let you know. He is honest, caring, nice, and understanding…characteristics you definitely want in a Endodontist!

Love this man! Don’t love root canals, but if you have to have this procedure done, Dr. Bani will make it the most pleasant experience he can. He is kind and compassionate and makes sure you understand exactly what he is doing. His office staff is equally pleasant to deal with. I highly recommend everything about this office

Dr. Bani is incredible. After avoiding dental offices for years because of a past bad experience, I went to see the equally awesome Dr. K in Studio City. He sent me to Dr. Bani for a second opinion on whether or not I needed a root canal. I called him the Superman of Root Canals and I mean it. To go from a patient who wanted to cry when she stepped foot in his office for a consultation to a patient who was not afraid to show up for the second appointment of the root canal was like a miracle. Seriously- you won’t even know why people tell the horror stories they do about root canals after you meet Dr. Bani. He is simply the best at what he does.

I take good care of my teeth, since I was lucky to have a parent that instilled this in me at a very young age. However, I grind my teeth due to taking psych drugs (bipolar) and I’m diabetic so I have less saliva to wash away bacteria. My teeth look nice, but I do have some fillings…and one of them cracked. OUCH! The entire back section of the lower molar chipped when that happened. Because of finances, and because I have a higher pain threshold than most humans, I ignored things until I had to beat feet to my dentist post haste with the horrible toothache. (Dr. Rees Smith in Burbank, I love you, sir!!!) He spent over an hour working on me because the root had abscessed and it was an ugly scene down below the gum line, let me tell you! He and his fabulous staff recommended Dr. Bani — and they said they received MANY wonderful comments from their patients about him. I’m not usually into writing reviews, but this man is INCREDIBLE! If you’re having any pain at all, you MUST SEE HIM! He is honest, has integrity like you have never seen in anyone before (well, there IS Dr. Smith!), he is the most gentle person you’ll ever meet, he never talks down to you — and he is the CLEANEST practitioner I have ever had the pleasure to meet. His gifted hands smell of soap and cleanliness; he follows all the rules for great hygiene and sterile procedure. I’m a germophobe and I was IMPRESSED with how clean, neat and well-groomed he is. (I’ve seen other doctors that have made me so nervous, I’ve left before they could touch me, because they weren’t clean.) He will NOT let you remain in pain. He immediately put me on a continuation of the antibiotics that Dr. Smith prescribed; between the two of them, we knocked out a very stubborn, serious infection. He gave me pain pills I could tolerate, since there are several that just don’t work for me at all (like Vicodin). He even had his staff checking for cancellations, once the infection had cleared, because my pain was getting worse. He was diligent about getting me in for the root canal just as soon as humanly possible. I had it done yesterday. He makes you feel so comfortable! He is a very calm, caring person and it really shows. It takes *forever* for me to numb up and I had made him aware of this before my appointment yesterday, so he took enough time to make SURE that I was COMPLETELY numb before he started. He NEVER made me feel rushed or that I was taking up too much of his time — he is SUCH a gracious man! He also has top skills with a needle, too. You won’t feel him giving you the shots, because he uses ample topical anesthetic as well. He’s very smooth and polished with his technique. I actually fell asleep for most of the procedure, he is THAT EXCELLENT! With anyone else, I would have been a nervous wreck, since — like you — I’ve heard all the bad things about root canals. All those horror stories you’ve seen or heard about? Put them out of your mind if you go to Dr. Bani — he is a breed apart, and you will feel very little discomfort, if any. His prices are VERY fair, most reasonable. His office staff is very professional and caring, just like he is. And, he even called me last night to make sure I was doing okay — with instructions to call him immediately if I had any problems. He is *AMAZING* and I would not go to ANYONE ELSE for a root canal except to him, because he is a fine human being and an incredibly great endodontist.
