My eldest son that is now 29 years old was referred to Dr. Smart by our family dentist. With the special care that was required she knew what action plan was needed. We weren’t in the best place financially although we had medical insurance it didn’t cover orthodontic care for braces. Because her passion was to help our son have the confidence to smile and be happy as a teenager she worked with us. This was a new process for all of us and when it came to the restrictions in maintaining and caring for his teeth and braces it was clearly communicated verbally and in writing. Although children doesn’t always follow instructions as they are given even when they understand what’s expected they aren’t always going to do the right thing. Dr. Smart is passionate about helping her patience and don’t want parents to waste their hard earned money nor her time that she gives in doing her job when instructions are ignored. So yes, if additional treatments are required and or appliances have to be replaced we will be billed for them. We must take responsible for our children and in return hold our children accountable for their actions. I’m thankful for those hard lessons learned because our son had to learn to be disciplined, respectful and responsible for the care of his dental needs. This was over 15 years ago and because I lived through the experience of building a relationship with Dr. Smart that has always been honest, caring and understands the importance of dental hygiene as well as how important our teeth effects our smiles cosmetically, she is highly respected by my family and she is now caring for my 14 year old going on his second year and with her expertise, my baby doesn’t mind smiling again without the embarrassment of how his teeth were once crooked and gapped due to genetics. We’re very thankful and appreciative of doctors like Dr. Smart that shows her heart is into helping others and not becoming rich from the work she provides. What she offers is truly priceless and I encourage all parents to consider her to be your child’s future orthodontics. She answered our prayers. I’m a flight attendant, so I initially started my ortho experience at an orthodontist in Phoenix, Arizona where I was based. As it turned out, my decision was a mistake. Each time I visited the practice for routine adjustments, I was met with a different dentist. Each had their own visions on what new adjustment to make. This resulted in a cataclysm of my oral care and a dimming view of the profession. When I finally switched bases to Charlotte, I was recommended by a friend to go and visit Dr. Smart’s practice. It was the best choice I could make. Dr. Smart’s office was filled with smiling faces and professional individuals who actually cared about my well-being. Due to Dr. Smart’s individualized care, she was able to correct the damage and non-progress that I initially received in Phoenix. Throughout my ortho experience, Dr. Smart and her team consistently informed me about my progress and what to expect next. Thanks to Dr. Smart, I was able to get my braces taken off after a year and a half. This office is the greatest. Dr. Smart and her staff are incredible! They are so nice and friendly. Dr. Smart cares about her patients and wants to make sure your teeth are healthy. I can not give enough praise to how awesome her and her staff are. They responded promptly to all my concerns and minor maintenance of my braces if something wasn’t right. I had my braces on for about 3.5 years and it was well worth the wait. I have fixed upper and lower retainers and they are barely noticeable, they are smooth and seem to blend in with my teeth rather than stand out, nothing like I was expecting from all the stories I heard from my friends with braces before me. Dr. Smart did incredible work with me and I love showing off my new smile. I HIGHLY recommend this office, you will not be disappointed.

I have been going to Dr. Smart for awhile now and I can say my experience has been nothing short of amazing. Clean facility, warm environment, and a great staff. Going to Dr. Smart’s office isn’t like going to the orthodontist, it’s like going to your sweet Aunts house and all your cool cousins are there to help you have a nice smile. The interaction between Dr. Smart and her staff is more comparable to a family than to coworkers. I would highly recommend going to her for a better smile!

One of the things I like the most about Dr. Smart is that she is not wasting your money or your time. We went several years before my son finally got the braces, it was when those teeth were READY, not before. Both of my daughters needed braces at the same time and I didn’t know how I was going to make that happen. I visited four different orthodontist practices before choosing Dr Smart and her team. Our entire family decided THIS was the right fit for us. Every single employee made us feel welcome and they worked with us to be able to do both treatment plans at the same time instead of having to treat one at a time. We have been with them for 3 years now, and I can’t give enough praise. Dr. Smart and her staff have far exceeded our expectations. I’m not sure how I’m going to feel when the braces come off. hooray my kid finally has his braces off, Dr. Smart and her team are great. My son was not always wearing his rubber bands, but with the doc and I constantly nagging him, his teeth now look great. The team the doc has around her are awesome. The first time we visited the office for an evaluation for my grandson, we were extremely impressed with both Dr. Smart and her staff. Everyone in the office was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Smart took her time explaining what needed to be done in order for my 15 year old grandson to obtain the results he desires, answered all questions we had and we left 100% confident that this was where Grayson (my grandson) would receive the best care and treatment available. When we returned to start this new journey, we were met with the same warm, friendly staff who made us feel welcome and comfortable. I might also mention that this office goes above and beyond in their efforts to maintain a safe and healthy office environment during these tough times with Covid still being such a huge threat in North Carolina.
