I highly highly recommend this dentist! Mahindra and his team are exceptional. The space is spotless, relaxing, and they even let you watch Netflix while they work. My teeth are doing so much better since I’ve started visiting this practice. This dentist is trustworthy, transparent, and friendly. Trust him with your teeth!

I would like to highly recommend Dr Mahindra. He is not only a very good, highly competent and skilled dentist…he is a really down-to-earth, and caring doctor as well. After I chipped a tooth on a Friday night, Dr. Mahindra let me come in to his office without an appointment on Saturday morning and expertly repaired my tooth! I feel very lucky to have found such a great dentist only a few blocks away from where I live. You’re in great hands with him, I promise.

I wish I had found Dr Mahindra earlier.  The other day I realized I was overdo for a cleaning.  My regular dentist, who I really didn’t like, couldn’t see me for 6 weeks.  I wanted it sooner.  When I called Dr Mahindra’s office, I was offered an appointment one week out.  On the off chance, I asked if I could come the next day, and the answer was yes (on a Saturday).  Dr Mahindra was a pleasure; he is the best dentist I have been to in 25 years.  I have been in NYC for 11 years.  Oh how I wish I had found him 11 years ago.  Dr Mahindra is a Hell’s Kitchen resident with a dental practice in Hell’s Kitchen.  I highly recommend him, without reservation.

Dr. Mahindra is the absolute best! He runs a tight ship which I really appreciate because I hate waiting around in a doctors office! His staff is always on time and he comes in promptly to inspect my cleaning. He’s probably the most honest dentist that I’ve ever had. He never tries to push unnecessary procedures on me and he’s always honest and upfront about the cost of cosmetic procedures like whitening treatments. He’s very serious about dental health. I wasn’t flossing enough and he throughly explained the dangers of poor dental health. It got me RIGHT on track! He’s a great doctor and he lets you control Netflix while in the chair! I’m never leaving this practice!

I had my first visit here today and the staff (receptionist, assistant, and the hygienist) were so nice, thorough, and helpful through every stage of my visit. Dr. Mahindra is also very kind and truly takes the time explain and makes sure that you understand everything. He also provides an array of helpful tips and options for the procedures you may have to go through, with no pressure. Couldn’t recommend this practice more highly and look forward to my continued care here!

It’s rare to find a doctor or dentist who puts patient care first these days, but Dr. Mahindra is an exception. Unlike many of the upscale dental practices I’ve been to, where dentists grace you with an overblown greeting and a 2-minute glance-over (aka, $90 social call, in addition to the $150 cost of cleaning), Dr. Mahindra is generous with his time ($150 cost for cleaning and doctor exam). My cleaning (which he performed himself but did not charge extra for), took maybe 30 minutes, and I never once felt rushed. Dr. Mahindra was careful and fastidious, offering lots of personalized information on how to improve my dental routine based on my particular ‘smile anatomy.’ In the first 2 minutes of the visit he pointed out to me my asymmetrical bite and explained how I should work to correct it if i’d like to avoid overuse issues in the future. None of my previous Park Avenue dentists or orthodontists or their hygienists had ever pointed out this glaring issue. Also, Dr. Mahindra is extremely patient and receptive to questions. He answered every one of my many questions with attention, thoughtfulness, and interest. Presented with one or two obscure questions that he didn’t know the answer to, he actually took time to research and called me back with answers. Dr. Mahindra seems to like both dentistry ant patient care– even when caring for a ‘zealous’ patient like me. I should also mention cost. Dr. Mahindra’s cleanings cost around the same amount as those of other dental offices, but when it comes to incidentals, his prices are phenomenally lower than standard prices. Unlike many other doctors and dentists, who take advantage of patients by charging exorbitant costs for standard lab services, Dr. Mahindra forgoes huge profits to give patients a fair deal. For example, a previous orthodontist charged me around $800 each for three retainers (totaling $2400), and my current other dentist quoted me a similar cost for new retainers. Dr. Mahindra charges around $500 or less for all 3 retainers (totaling $500), saying that since the lab entitles him to 3 retainers per mold, he’s not going to take advantage of the patient, and he’ll just give you the extra 2 for free. This is really a unique and generous approach to medical care– and definitely works out well for anyone who doesn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on dental retainers. As for the Smile Dental office, booking a last-minute appointment has always been easy; the staff are courteous; and the 9th Avenue storefront location could not be more convenient. I came to this office looking for a quick, local, one-time alternative to seeing my fancy midtown dental practice, but I’m staying with Dr. Mahindra from now on! I highly recommend Dr. Mahindra and Smile Dental.

Ive been searching for a good dentist for some time and today I found one! The office is new and clean and the staff were courteous and organized. I appreciated the doctor sharing his observations but essentially allowing me to choose for myself (rather than be pushy). I like that the doctor is young so I can look forward to working with him for a long time. Overall good vibes. I already recommended him to 5 people at my office! Been back to the dentist and I have to say he replaced a problematic crown and it feels soooo much better. I was experiencing discomfort for so long and I’m finally feeling great. I also want to point out that the tooth was built onsite so I didn’t have to do the temp crown and schedule again, I was in and out with the permanent crown in a few hours!! Very happy with this dentist

I randomly picked this place because it was the closest dentist office to my apartment that was open on Saturdays. I totally lucked out! Dr. Gaurav Mahindra is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, dentist or not! He was very personable and talked me through my procedure. I will definitely go back!

Dr. Mahindra and the Dental Hygienist Steve were absolutely incredible! The last dentist I went to made me feel like a 5 year old child and I left feeling terrible about myself. This visit could not have been more different! Dr. Mahindra was so kind and understanding. He truly knows how to treat his patients like human beings and I left feeling well informed and excited about my dental health! They do a thorough cleaning and examination, pain free and professional. I never felt rushed, even being busy, the doctor took the time to make sure I understood everything in great and easy to understand detail. I was so happy that I was referred to Dr. Mahindra I’d like to do the same with this review. If you need a great dentist who is also a great human being, do yourself a favor and make an appointment with Dr.. Mahindra!

Truly the best dental experience I have ever had. Smile smile is a caring and thoughtful office. The hygienist Steve was wonderful and thorough and Dr. Mahindra educated me about my teeth and jaw pain in a friendly and accessible way. I feel more confident about my smile and dental health and know this is my office of choice for life!

I’ve been going to Dr. Mahindra’s office for few months now. Initially for cleanings, but most recently for zoom whitening. He was very attentive and took his time. He explained the entire process before starting and as we went along. The before and after shots speak wonders. Highly recommend his work.
