From the minute I entered the door to the minute I left I felt so comfortable and cared for. Doctor Gent and his staff answered all my questions and more. They went to every extent to make me feel comfortable. I had some major work done and I hadn’t been to a dentist in quiet some time so I was fairly nervous. I needed some extra attention and Dr. Gent and his staff made this visit possible for me. I had seen one dentist prior to him and I chose Gent because he showed so much genuine interest in helping me. I am just so please my teeth look so beautiful and I am no longer in pain. I would recommend this office to anyone. Dentist make me nervous and uncomfortable and Gent makes you feel like a community, someone he wants to help and he cares for. I cannot express my gratitude enough. Thank you

Dr. Gent and his team are always friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I like that it is obvious that patient safety and environmental stewardship are forefront in this office. They use the latest technology to make your experience the best for your health while also being convenient and comfortable. Office staff are all friendly and professional and they work with my insurance company. Dr. Gent is understanding and kind but is also realistic in his assessments and expectations for your oral health. Monica is usually my hygienist and she is very detailed and gentle while being both professional and kind. Definitely recommend this office to anyone and would bring my kids here.

I’ve been traumatized by dentists my entire life. I have finally found one who listens and genuinely wants to help you have your most healthy and beautiful smile while achieving optimum dental health. Dr. Gent and his entire staff are top notch healthcare professionals. They do everything in their power to help you have the most relaxing and enjoyable dental experience. Highly recommend them.

I absolutely love the idea of a “Green” dental practice. You can tell that Dr. Gent really cares about his environment and his quality of work. He is very thorough about explaining treatment and makes sure you don’t leave uneducated about the process of further treatment. I wish my insurance covered more than two cleanings a year…I would come here monthly if I could. HIGHLY recommend Dr. Gent and SoLa Dental of Austin. OH, and they accept the GoLocal card!

I have been a patient here for about four years. All of the staff are very kind and caring, in addition to Dr. Gent. They involve their patients in the care plans that they come up with, which I very much appreciate. I had an appointment today after about three years with no visit (yes; I know), and it was as if no time had passed. Ann Marie, the receptionist, remembered me and some of the details of my personal life that I had shared with her at one of my last visits. The dental hygienist that I saw was new since the last time I was in, but she was very warm, personable, and easygoing. As a nursing student, I have to say that this type of care is SO important and makes patients feel like they matter. In a world where it can be far too easy for health care professionals to be removed from the human aspect of their work – often due to seeing too many patients with not enough time for each of them – this is wonderful to see, and I am so glad that I came back. I will continue to be a very grateful and appreciative patient here. Thanks!

Thank you for getting me in quickly, discussing options and then setting a plan of care I am comfortable with! You truly do have my best interest at heart! In my time of need the office staff was great, techs were great and dentist was great! I have a ways to go but am glad I’m doing it with yall. Thanks again!

I recently had an appt. (cleaning) at SoLa Dental. As usual, it was great. The staff was friendly and Dr. Gent is awesome. The ONLY issue I had was at checkout, a charge for $15. At first, I thought it was payment for the cleaning, and thought to myself, “insurance is paying less and less these days.” It wasn’t until I noticed a laminated card taped to the counter that I realized it was for COVID-19 cleaning and such, or, to make up the loss revenue during the pandemic; either way, I don’t think it’s right to charge your customers a fee. In business, you have risks and setbacks. You shouldn’t burden your customers with a “cleaning fee.” I have a special needs daughter that my wife must stay home with; that only leaves my income to pay the bills. Now I’m being charged a “sanitizing fee” which should be the company’s responsibility anyway. It’s not right! To end this on a good note, though, I believe Dr. Gent is an excellent and great dentist. He has done a lot of dental work for me and I am very grateful. R.S

Dr. Gent and his staff are very personable and accommodating. I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen for an appointment. The office is also well equipped with what appears to be the latest technology in the industry (no waiting for old-school x-rays to be developed). They have been flexible with me when I’ve had to cancel/reschedule appointments, which I appreciate. They seem to go out of their way to ensure your comfort, like when they offered me a blanket in a cold exam room. My good friend has also been a patient at SoLa, and when he ran into a bit of a billing/insurance snafu, they remedied the issue immediately to make it right. Only downside is parking can be a challenge

Like most of you I’ve hated going to the dentist my whole life. Dr. Gent and his team have changed that for me :). They respect your time and get you in and out. There is a TV and music in every room. If you want to just listen to music they provide you with headphones. They are very Eco Friendly and the technology is out of this world. I’ve been going to Sola for about 2 years and every time I feel like they’ve figured out a way to make my visit time shorter. I own my own business so my time is very important to me. This is hands down the most incredible Dental Experience I have ever experienced. I highly recommend going to Sola for all of you dental needs.

First of all, Gent stands for “gentle.” Dr. Gent is a gentle man of the highest order, respectful of his patients, and he’s also personable and interesting to talk to. But more important, he’s an excellent dentist. He replaced some of my old crowns and because he has the technology to do computer-aided restoration, he was able to do so in one visit. And later, he cheerfully tweaked one that needed tweaking. I loved my previous dentist (whom I left only because of insurance), but I have to say that Dr. Gent’s technological capabilities far surpass “old school” dentists. I rarely review on Yelp, but Dr. Gent deserves a shout out. I honestly think he is The Best.

SoLa Dental always keeps the patient’s experience in mind. They space out their appointments well. I’ve never waited more than 3-5 mnutes in the lobby when i arrive for my appointment. The technicians are thorough but gentle. There is never a wait for the dental consultation after the x-rays and cleaning. They use state of the art tools. And, when you’re finished, it they’ve already processed your insurance and are ready to accept payment (if insurance didn’t fully cover). They send appointment reminders and important notifications via text and email. SoLa Dental makes visiting the dentist quick and easy!

Before SoLa Dental, I had not been to a dentist in… well forever and it definatly took its toll on my teeth. The whole reason I called was because of wisdom tooth pain, along with pain that was coming from a tooth that should have been pulled years ago. Plus my teeth is one of my biggest insecurities and I felt like it was time to get that in gear! My first appointment was great, Ashley, the OG front desk girl was really nice and talked to me while I waited to be seen, calmed my nerves a bit. Everyone there was very aware of my high anxiety about the appointment and I was well taken care of. Everyone did their best to make sure I was doing okay. Next appointment it was explained to me what I would be needing to have done to have a healthy mouth again. At first I thought it was weird that we didnt go over anything like that during the first visit, but I ended up really liking how the appointments were set up. I wasnt at all stressed and Dr Gent went over everything with me and answered all of my questions and then Ashley helped me figure out the money issues. Setting up my appointment for my extraction of FIVE teeth was really easy, Molly got back with me right away to set up the date, and emailed me all of the paper work I needed to fill out that day. After it was all filled out, I dropped off the paper work, had a couple of questions and Dr. Gent came out and actually addressed them with me which was really great! So I has my teeth pulled almost a week ago, and every concern I had I knew that Dr. Gent and his staff were only an email or a phone call away. I have never met a doctor so concerned about pt care. (other then the dr. I work for). Im really happy I made the choice to go with Dr. Gent and his staff. (Oh and Ive never had any issues with Molly, I think shes sweet)

Corey and Dr. Gent are always very nice, detailed, and professional. They explain everything without a judgmental tone and make practical suggestions to improve your oral health that fit into your lifestyle. It’s important to me to go to a mercury-free office and they use the best technology to reduce their office environmental impact as well, even sourcing their electricity from renewable sources. I appreciate their office’s easy scheduling and text reminders, esp when I forgot to set an appointment and they send appointment openings texts so I can be reminded and easily informed of immediate openings that week. Sometimes it’s hard with my lifestyle to schedule appointments very far in advance, so it helps to have options that are only a few days away. Everything is always clean and efficient.

I originally found out about SoLa Dental because of its location, I continuously noticed the sign as it is close to my downtown neighborhood. After a few months of noticing its location, the need for a dentist visit arose as one of my bridges (10 years old) came loose. I decided to try SoLa and Dr. Gent rather than driving 30 miles to the dentist I used in North Austin. I walked in to SoLa, explained that my bridge needed to be re-bonded and asked if they could please get me in asap as I did not want to walk around with a gap in my smile. Molly, Nicole and Dr. Gent were awesome! They got me in and had the bridge re-bonded in no time! On that first visit, I liked what I saw in regards to a younger Dentist establishing his ethic with his own practice and vision of office/equipment/facilities. A few weeks later I went in for a much needed clean. I have had my teeth worked on numerous times since childhood, I did not have all of my permanent teeth develop; hence the bridges. While there for the clean, I asked Dr. Gent if he could take a new look at my smile and give me an updated opinion on current options to the old bridges that I had sported forever. The old bridges served their purpose, but over the years they had worn and frequently came lose; they were by no means anything considered permanent. After a pano and a few discussions with Dr. Gent on solutions ranging from implants to replacing the bridges with new to combining bridges with porcelains, to braces (for the second time in life) etc., I decided to do a combination of options which would allow me to have the work done as I was able to afford the different enhancements. Because I was born without the permanent teeth and never had them to begin with, insurance claimed that it would not cover the procedures. I knew I wanted a smile that I enjoyed and would show, as a kid with a mouthful of missing teeth, I had always been aware of hiding my smile more than I wanted. We started the smile revamping process in June of 2012. Dr. Gent was great throughout the process. He was also very conservative as we made the changes, allowing for me to see in my teeth and smile how each step felt, functioned and looked. Each step I would monitor all of the previously mentioned and would report back to him with my thoughts and opinions. I asked each time what he thought about what I thought. As the dentist, he knew best about long term function and design etc. He never made a change that I disagreed with, each change/adjustment was one that we decided on together. He was extremely thorough throughout the entire process. A few times I was concerned that minimal changes that I wanted out of my “pickiness” would frustrate Dr. Gent and his staff, but they were always willing to go an extra step to make sure I was nothing less than pleased with my smile. Dr. Gent completed my smile restoration in early August 2012. 🙂 They are permanent! They are beautiful, my gums are healthy again after years of the metal bridges tearing them up, I am able to eat whatever I wish, and to top it off…. my smile is gorgeous! At the age of 29, I am letting my inner smile show through my outer smile…. all of the time! As a pre-med student in college now turned entrepreneur, I want to add that from a business standpoint I have to give Dr. Gent a high-five. With medicine and dentistry fields enduring insurance companies and healthcare times at present, it takes a lot of gall, moxie and skill for a person to get out of school and go at it business wise. I wish he and his crew all the best. I recommend SoLa on all angles. Brittany W

I found my new dentist 🙂 I had a thorough, gentle cleaning today at SoLa. They didn’t even make me feel guilty about my teeth. I didn’t realize my other dental experiences were less than until I visted here. Guilt free dentistry! Their offices are very clean, no dust gathering on the equipment, and everyone I met was nice and calm, and very patient with the whole dental process. If you’ve ever visited Castle Dental, you know what I mean… I was told about other treatments they offer for that could help my TMJ and migraine issues, but like other reviewers have written here, I wasn’t upsold on any unnecessary major dental work. I walked out of there feeling better about my dental health than I have for years. Turns out, I’m in pretty good shape. I’m coming back, and I’m switching my kiddo to this dentist as well

Dr. Gent and his team provide state of the art dentistry service in a very comfortable environment. I felt very at ease from the first moment of my arrival. I had done some fairly extensive damage to my smile over the past few years. It worried me and made me feel self conscious for the first time in my life. Dr. Gent and I discussed options and the best plan of affordable attack. Within two weeks of my initial appointment I now have a smile likely better than my younger years. I’m just waiting for the next time to use it. Admittedly, Dr. Gent is a bit OCD but in the very best of ways. He strives to be as please with his work as you desire to be please with his work. I could ask no more from my dentist. I am now his patient for as long as I live in Austin. Jeff L. Austin, TX

I developed a toothache on a Sunday, so went online and made an appointment the following day. The first time they had available was 8 days later. But the very next day, first thing in the morning, I received a text asking if I wanted to come in that day instead. I happily accepted, because my toothache was getting worse. Dr. Gent and staff got me right in, turned out I had a serious problem, and the tooth would have to come out right away. They were very gentle, quite in tune with my needs. I am always impressed with the staff at SoLa Dental, everyone obviously cares about the patient, and takes pride in their work. I highly recommend doctor Gent!

Recently moved to Austin. Starting over with new doctors and dentists is stressful! Everyone at Sola was kind and professional. My cleaning and checkup went smoothly and my hygienist was thorough and sweet. I was impressed with the level of diagnostic technology used. The office was very tidy and sanitary. My husband and I were easily able to make back to back appointments. We were taken back right away and no waiting to be seen. I would recommend this dental office.

Going to the dentist isn’t my favorite thing to do, but Dr Gent and the entire Sola staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. Dr Gent thoroughly explains any procedures in a comforting way to take the edge off and is just a great genuine guy. I also really like how Ann Marie explains several financial options making it easy for you financially. The facilities are state of the art and easy to get to. After trying out several dentists in the past, I’d highly recommend making Sola Dental your family practice. I’m sure glad I came across them and proud that all of my family members are now patients!

I highly recommend Sola Dental! I have been going there for two years now and am so happy with their staff, the doctor, the assistants and the office setting. Since going to the dentist isn’t the most “fun” thing to do, at Sola they make it so much more enjoyable than other dental offices. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with a friendly face, relaxing cool music and a very clean and comfortable place. I was 100% pleased and over the moon after I completed my invisilign with Dr. Gent. I was shocked and so happy with how much my smile improved! I am happier and healthier because of it. Check them out, you will be so glad you did!

I can’t say enough fantastic things about this practice. The location is extremely convenient, the office is comfortable and open and most importantly the staff is amazing. I went to Sola Dental after having a less than stellar experience at another office (that is another review in itself) and I am so glad I did. Dr. Gent was patient, thorough and understanding. After placing crowns, and seeing me through multiple visits to make sure I was adjusting to work, Dr. Gent emailed me to make sure I was doing ok and to see if I had any concerns. I have never received that level of care from any medical professional. Molly, the office manager, was sympathetic and extremely flexible. Every time I have called she has known who I was immediately, and was professional, friendly and always helpful. The dental techs at SoLa dental exhibit the same level of professionalism, courtesy and ability. Everyone I had interaction with at the office alleviated the anxiety I had about additional dental work. (Once again, the other office I went to was quite traumatic.) The best part is they set the appointment and see you at THAT time. I have been able to do my follow ups on my lunch break without any hesitation that I may run over my allotted hour, while never rushing me out. Whether you are in an emergency situation, or you are just looking for a great practice to maintain oral hygiene please consider calling SoLa Dental

Normally I see a different dentist in North Austin, whom I’ve been very happy with for several years, but I wanted to have a mercury-amalgam filling removed and most dentists are not equipped for this procedure. (Mercury is a toxic heavy metal, so it requires lots of health and environmental precautions.) SoLa is one of the few practices in town that is. I called yesterday and he was able to see me the same afternoon, so I headed south! As Dr. Gent mentions in a reply to another review, there is free garage parking just off Toomey, with first-floor spaces reserved for the retail strip they’re located in. Very convenient & hassle-free considering the part of town. You do fill out the patient questionnaire on an iPad, which I think is awesome, and it’s all on one page so it really doesn’t take all that long. (I’ve done electronic intake forms at another doctor’s office that were basically “input one piece of info, click next, wait 5 minutes for the crappy wifi to load the following page”. Not so, here.) Another reviewer mentioned the iPad screen seeming dirty due to having a film–I think they’ve rectified that because mine was fine. I was expecting just an exam, figured I’d have to come back another day for the actual removal, but as it turns out my existing filling was pretty small so they made time to take care of it for me the same day–yay! Throughout the procedure both Dr. Gent & Jen (dental assistant) were amazing, and even with all the equipment/suits/masks I think it only took about ten minutes. Everyone there is super friendly and professional, and from everything I could tell, they manage to run a tight ship without sacrificing the patient relationship. Overall a fantastic experience…if my dentist ever goes out of business I know where I’ll be going!

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Gent for years. Dr. Gent did my husband’s implant, replaced all my metal fillings and did the removal of two baby teeth that I still had as an adult. I personally had to have oral surgery (tooth extraction and implant insertion). I went to SoLa Dental and they made a rather unpleasant and traumatic type process very easy to undergo and significantly reduced pain and discomfort with their process and their professional, yet extremely friendly, bed side manner. After the surgery, the staff was second to none with follow up emails and calls to ensure I was okay and that my healing process was progressing positively. To anyone considering a dental professional in the Austin or surrounding area (Dallas, Houston, San Antonio), I have zero reservations with recommending Dr. Gent and SoLa Dental of Austin. They set the bar for excellence as far as I am concerned

Dr. Gent is an extremely gentle and knowledgeable dentist! I was so excited to hear he was opening an office in downtown Austin since Leander was a bit of a drive! I had a dental emergency this past week. Through yelp reviews I found SoLa. From the first phone call and throughout the entire process, I was treated with respect, kindness and zero judgment. They were able to get me in that day, I did not have to wait once I arrived, every single person I encountered was professional, pleasant and efficient. I felt Dr Gent actually listened to and responded to my personal needs and desires to resolve my crisis. He and his team did just that. Their office is very clean and even calming! Honestly the best dental experience I have ever had. If you are looking for dental care, look here. You will be amazed.

I have nothing but spectacular things to say about SoLa Dental! Dr. Gent is such a nice guy and very knowledgeable in his craft. He takes the time to walk each of his patients through their individual situations in a very in-depth and clear manner, proving himself to be very concerned with the dental health and overall well-being of every person that walks through his doors. His support staff is outstanding as well. They are very friendly and helpful (their customer service was excellent) and keenly aware of the opportunities of when they can cut up and have a good time with patients, making the experience much more enjoyable for all. The new facilities are immaculate. From the moment I entered the office, I was impressed with everything… including the bathroom! I jokingly told my coworkers later that I wasn’t sure if I was in a spa or a dental office. On top of that, SoLa Dental is also a completely green dental practice. In speaking with them just a few minutes about that aspect of their business, it was obvious that they possess a great passion for it and are very willing to educate their clients on that matter. They even took the time to recommend a few green dental products that I could use at home and stuffed my pockets with samples for me to try. I am very happy with every facet of my experience with SoLa Dental and would recommend the practice to anyone in Austin!

I love the care and service I receive from Dr. Gent and his staff. Everyone is friendly and professional and the office is clean and inviting. Every hygienist I have had has done wonderful, gentle work. Dr. Gent has a conservative approach to treatment options which I really appreciate. The approach to a greener business model, both in terms of their physical office space and dental practices, sets them apart. I have been a patient here for 8 years and I would highly recommend Dr. Gent and his staff at SoLa Dental to anyone.

Dr. Gent did a great implant for me. The process of extracting my tooth and getting the implant went really well. Dr. Gent clearly explained everything he did and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. The crown he made looks and feels great and, unlike other crowns I’ve had, food doesn’t get stuck between the crown and my other teeth. With previous crowns, I’ve had to floss every time I ate anything. This crown, however, feels just like my other teeth. The staff at Sola Dental is also very welcoming and sweet. Everyone goes out of their way to take care of the patients. I’d recommend Sola Dental to anyone looking for a good dentist!

For the last three years I have suffered from headaches, migraines, along with clicking and popping linked with TMD. My problems seemed to get worse and worse over time. I’m in outside sales and have to talk to people on a constant basis. My headaches/migraines and jaw pain got to a point where I couldn’t and didn’t want to talk to people. Everyday around 3 o’clock my pain set in and made my job very difficult to do! Not to mention I came home to a two-year old who demanded my attention constantly! There were times when I had to pull over and just close my eyes until it passed or go to bed early and leave my daughter for my husband to watch. These headaches were taking over my life! At that point my only option was to take headache medication that made my stomach hurt on a daily basis. One day I walked into Sola Dental on a sales call just as my headache set in. As I sat in the waiting room Molly at the front desk noticed something was wrong and I explained to her my daily headache was coming on. She asked me more about what I was experiencing and then proceeded to tell me they could help me with a treatment called Trudenta. I scheduled a consultation and learned that the TMJ clicking and popping I was experiencing could be linked to my headaches. Dr. Gent explained to me that treatment could relieve my headaches and solve the jaw pain associated with TMD. You mean no more headaches? No more daily pain medication? No more jaw pain and I would have my life back? Sign me up! It’s been three months now since I completed therapy. I can honestly say I haven’t had a headache since I started treatment and my jaw feels soo much better, the clicking and popping has subsided!!! This has truly changed my life and I’m so happy that there was an option out there that didn’t require medication or surgery! Thank You Dr. Gent, Molly and the rest of the Sola Dental staff for helping me feel better!! I know it sounds cheesy but they literally gave me my life back! For those of you experiencing the same thing you know this can be miserable!!

I’d developed an abscess around a (really) failed root canal performed by another dentist. It was in the middle of the winter holidays, when most dentists take a month vacation. I came across SoLa’s site and provided a short description of my situation through their contact form. I got a personal e-mail response from Dr. Gent saying he could see me that week. My first thought was: “a dentist who sends e-mails? seriously?” Anyhow, fast-forward, and I had the root canal redone by a fantastic endodontist whom Dr. Gent recommended, and I’ve got a new crown that fits so well I can’t tell it’s there. Gent is such a perfectionist (OCD is good for dentists) that when my permanent crown came back the first time, he wasn’t happy with how well it fit, so he just used it as a temp crown until a second (perfectly fitting) one was shipped over. No cost to me of course. Excellent location – literally 5-minutes from my work in downtown. Easy parking. And they open at 8am so I didn’t have to miss much work for my appointments. And the e-mails? They send text messages too. Awesome.

I started seeing Dr. Gent after I moved to Austin from Los Angeles. I had not seen a dentist in almost seven years because of financial restraints so I was extremely nervous about going to the dentist. Fortunately I only had one cavity, but what pleased me so much was that Dr. Gent and his staff were very non-judgmental about my extreme lack of dental care (and my grandfather has been practicing dentistry for almost sixty years – atrocious, I know). They were eager to answer my silly questions (what are those white spots on my teeth? Is my weight loss going to deplete the nutrients from my teeth?) and explained every procedure before they began. Dr. Gent is also extremely thorough. While he was examining my mouth it reminded me of an engineer building a motherboard with an intense attention to detail. It may sound absurd but that thought really crossed my mind during the examination. The office is spotless and when they say “green practice” they aren’t kidding. They advertise the use of their mercury-free fillings and BPA-free composites, but their green practices also transfer to their administrative operations. As a new patient I filled out my paperwork on an iPad and I don’t think one piece of paper was used through the entire duration of my visit. All in all I had a fantastic experience and I am proud to call Dr. Gent my dentist. I know the future of my dental care is in good hands.

A WORD FROM YOUR DOCTOR
