I have been seeing Dr. Patel for 20 years and would not consider going to anyone else, despite having options closer to home and work. She and her staff are always friendly, professional, and courteous. Anything not covered by my dental insurance is explained up front. The reminder calls/text are helpful. Most importantly, Dr. Patel and her staff are gentle, knowledgeable, and practice Covid safety protcol diligently.

Dr. Patel is a very good dentist. I have decided to try Invisilign on my lower teeth and  I am very pleased with how Dr. Patel is managing the entire process as well as with the preliminary results. Both the office manager and the back office assistant are very helpful and great to deal with. The pricing is competitive and Dr. Patel is very knowledgable and respectful. She is not pushy at all the treatment plans and I feel that she is always trying to give me a realistic assessment and best recommendations. Highly recommended.

I moved to San Francisco a year ago and was in search of a dentist. I went to my first recommendation, and while she was thorough, my mouth hurt for two days. I then heard about Dr. Patel from a friend. My first question was whether or not she was gentle. I was told she was. It was true! But what I appreciated most was that I was going to spend a lot of money on teeth whitening. She suggested less expensive alternatives which I greatly appreciated! And, her staff is incredibly friendly, too!

I love Dr. Patel! Her work is really high-quality and she is always gentle and makes sure you, as the patient, are doing okay. I also appreciate that she seems to be constantly learning the latest techniques for unique issues (my saliva ph is off so that causes trouble for my teeth — I have been so grateful for her expertise and dedication to helping me stay healthy.) On top of all that she is warm and friendly, which makes the whole experience much less stressful.

If you live anywhere near the Marina I highly recommend Dr. Patel – I had a great experience! After having a less fabulous experience with someone in the financial district, I read reviews for Dr Patel and decided to try her as she is closer to home. She takes her time with cleanings, not rushing through to get clients in and out as fast as possible. She is smart, personable, and a pleasure to talk to. The front desk and hygienist are both friendly as can be. While I have only been for routine check ups, I would go back to Dr Patel any day for dental needs!

Dr. Patel is the best dentist I have ever had the pleasure of working with. As a physician’s son, I have been surrounded by doctors my entire life, and have seen some excellent providers. I have dealt with a number of issues with my teeth and Dr. Patel has been spot on with her diagnosis, patient and communicative with her advice, and detailed in mapping out a long-term care program. Do yourself and your teeth a favor and stop your search for a dentist now!

I’m a little old school, I like having a comfort level high enough to go back to sleep in the middle of the night on certain things in my life. For example, my car mechanic, doctor, favorite bank cashier, barber and optometrist all know me and I know them. They do a good job and I’ll just keep coming back like a loyal collie. Dr. Sonal Patel DDS is one of those people that has been my Clarence in It’s a Wonderful Life. Let’s be honest, when a tooth starts aching and your in real pain, you don’t want to go into the HMO game of thrones finding a dentist to see you. What you want is a dentist who already knows you, a dentist you trust and a decent human being that’s not pretentious, ego laden, loud, obnoxious (sounds like someone we all know on the news each day) and a competent professional. Dr. Patel is like that Thanksgiving extended family member who makes the best stuffing and you want to sit next to her. She has class you don’t teach in school. She doesn’t preach either but nudges you to floss more. She checks in on you too to see if you’re in any discomfort over a procedure. She doesn’t rush either, this is important. Like the old carpenter saying, you measure twice but cut once. She’s a first rate dentist and hope you try her and see for yourself. Trust me, after seeing her for a couple of visits, you’ll find her number next to your car mechanic, barber and doctor in your little home address book by the land line on page 1.

I have been going to Dr. Patel for over 4 years and have always been impressed by both her and her staff. Like many people, I have generally felt dread at the prospect of a dentist visit, but Dr. Patel’s great skill, gentleness, and personal warmth have totally changed that. She greets and talks with her clients so humanly, discusses their concerns with such thoughtfulness, and is always genuinely present. I’ve had problems, especially with grinding, over the past years, and she was worked with me so patiently, strategically, and effectively to help and restore my teeth and bite. While always clear about what habits and regimens will help between visits, I have NEVER feel guilted by Dr. Patel or her hygienists. It means so much to have a dentist with whom you can be honest, from whom you can ask advice, and who you feel is really there to help. Dr. Patel is like this and I feel so grateful to have found her office.

I had my first visit with Dr. Patel today. Full disclosure – I know her outside of dentistry but after I returned home today, I wanted to be sure that I raved about my experience! I reached out to Sonal after a recent root canal for advice on the next steps to take. The solution she suggested was a perfect fit (!). The office is lovely, her staff warm and easy to talk to and she herself, is a consummate professional. I felt comfortable, safe and well cared for under her watch. I will definitely tell all of my friends (that aren’t already going to her!) to look her up if needing a dentist.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Patel’s for close to 15 years. She is an excellent dentist and my care has always been exceptional. Sonal is very hands on, highly skilled and proactive about the latest industry treatment options available to her patients. She has a very knowledgeable and helpful staff. As a result, my teeth are in great condition. I’ve recommended her to friends who also feel the same way I do and have had the same positive experience in her care.

In my experience (and that of my two teenage sons) over the last 6+ years seeing Dr. Patel, she is always kind, timely, and very thorough in her treatments. I agree with another reviewer in that she seems to be very knowledgeable and keeps herself up to date on advancements and treatment options in her industry. Yet, she is keenly aware that not everyone has dental insurance coverage, so she prioritizes the things she feels are most important to your dental and overall health. She and her staff are always courteous and easy to work with. I’ve referred her to other San Francisco friends and their families and they’ve always thanked me for it. If you are looking for a dentist for cosmetic or general dentistry needs, Dr. Patel is a great choice.
