I’ve been a patient of Dr. Surh for years now. He is very attentive and goes above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and welcome. I’ve never had a more personable and caring dentist before. During my pregnancy, he took the time to make sure I understood how pregnancy hormones would affect my oral health and gave me great advice on how to take care of my oral hygiene during pregnancy. My daughter is a college student at CSU Chico. She fell and chipped her tooth on the weekend. I called and left a message and was amazed that Dr. Surh responded so quickly and said do not worry, we will fit her in and take care of her after the weekend, since it wasn’t a huge emergency. I work in the customer service industry so I know what top notch service is and this dentist office has it nailed. I switched to Dr. Surh last year when my previous dentist was terrible. From walking through the front doors here starting with the front desk, to the hygienist, dental assistant, to Dr. Surh the service is incredible! With all the challenges COVID has done on all businesses they haven’t skipped a beat. Consistent communication on openings, text messages to remind you of appointments, emails, pricing, appointment times and follow up on dental work done, I’m pleased. Dr. Surh is a fantastic dentist. The staff working at the front desk are kind, courteous, and helpful. The dental hygienists are very professional and the exam rooms at South Chico Dental Care are very clean. They have TVs in them. The ladies in the office were very friendly. They were helpful and had all the paperwork ready as I finished up my x-rays. The X-ray process was the simplest I’ve ever gone through. Took mere minutes instead of half and hour like some places do. They made me feel very comfortable. The Dr. Was extremely thorough and very nice. Great bedside Manor. Dr. Surh and his staff are wonderful! My husband and I needed to get a check up ( we hadn’t been to a dentist in three years). Through my work, we are given a list of discounts through out town.. Dr. Surh was on the list and after some research my husband and I decided to get South Chico Dental Care a chance. When you are a new patient, they have you fill out a detailed list of paperwork to best assist you with your dental needs ( fears, phobia etc). The office itself it very inviting and family friendly. We are throughly impressed with Dr. Surh. As it turns out, my husband is going to need ALOT of dental work. This is the second time we have been told this. However, the other place in the bay area wanted to charge over $30, 000 to fix his teeth and do cosmetic things to his teeth. Dr. Surh is really working with us within our budget means while still providing complete and wonderful care. He is straight forward with all of our options when it comes to my husbands teeth and how to proceed with his dental care. My husband is throughly impressed with him and even travels from Sacramento to be seen by him. After our first appt. with him he came out to the reception desk to check on my husband ( he pulled his tooth) and reassured us that he would take care of us. He also gave us his number if we had any problems with the pulled tooth. The front staff is also wonderful when it comes to scheduling and moving appts around and helping us accommodate my husbands busy schedule with all the dental he needs. My experience with the office has also been positive! I have a TERRIBLE gag reflex so it is difficult to get X-rays. Dr. Surh and his dental hygienist both got them done quickly. They are were very kind about the whole thing. We HIGHLY recommend them

I chose Dr. Surh based off of the Google reviews and they weren’t wrong, he’s by far the best dentist I’ve ever had. The office runs like a well oiled machine, everyone is super friendly, and your appointment actually starts at the start time opposed to other offices where you have to sit around for 30+ minutes until you’re seen. Highly recommended.

This should be everyone’s dentist! First of all even before going to the location the woman that schedules appointments made every effort to find me a close appointment. She called another patient and asked if they can push their appointment a little further, and that’s how I got my appointment. Second, the place is really clean, nicely decorated and newly equipped. The receptionist, Doctor and hygienist were all very friendly. The hygienist did such a great job, I did not bleed or get hurt by any means. Also, Dr. Surh laid out all the options I have that is related to the issue I’m having. I am for sure coming back! Best dentist care in town

I love this place. Dr. Surh is friendly, personable and quick. I went here at the beginning of May for a cleaning and check-up (1st time only $149 with xrays!) and it was a great experience. The hygienist (Kaela, sorry if i spelled it wrong) was nice, talkative and really tried to be gentle. I went again today (5/31) to get 2 cavities filled. Now, I am insanely scared of needles, and you need them to numb you up for drilling but once Dr. Surh realized how scared I was he tried all he could to make it comfortable. He even used this distraction vibration tool and I almost forgot he was sticking me with a needle! Both cavities took less than an hour to, drill, fill and shape. I was in and out in 1 hour total. I love this dentist. He has made me fear the dentist less and I even booked my 6 month checkup already! Thanks!

I’m terrified of the dentist, Dr. Surh and staff have been so helpful in slowly getting me adjusted. I can now vouch that the previous Yelp reviews were accurate. His office staff is friendly and nice and very professional! They have been incredibly easy to work with. Everything has gone smoothly from booking my appointments to processing insurance. They are very good at keeping you up to date with what’s going on with insurance and everything. Went to see Daniel surh.. I had a tooth a cap was to be replaced. Dr. Surh took care of it. His assist had everything she needed for the procedure. Both focuse on my tooth. Some dentist I’ve gone to the assist get a up and go get stuff she needs because she forget something. Dr. Surh and the staff have been professional and friendly at each cleaning. The visits are thorough, and yet they are very quick! Recently, they fit me in the same day that I called for an issue with my tooth which ended up needing a root canal, and Dr. Surh took care of it right then. I was very nervous but Dr. Surh and the assistants are very calming. Also, the office is very modern and clean, and there is plenty of parking. I highly recommend Dr. Surh at South Chico Dental Care!

I’ve been going to Dr. Surh’s office for maybe about 2 – 3 years now and he’s helped me address all my dental issues, including squeezing me in for some emergency problems I had. I’ve NEVER had any any issue with anything or anyone at the office – all the staff is very kind and knowledgeable. Surh is former Navy, which I have a soft spot for as I have military family. In his waiting room, he has a photo of the ship he was assigned to, which I thought was a nice touch. He is obviously proud of his time in the military, which I appreciate greatly. The office is VERY clean, well kept, and there is water, coffee, tea, and other refreshments available in the wait room. Theres also a 2 TVs and a playstation, presumably for kids who might have to wait while parents or siblings are being seen. During the procedures, your room has 2 TVs mounted for distractions, including one overhead with subtitles always on (Lol, small details) for some additional distraction – normally tuned to HGTV, but the staff is always attentive and willing to change the channel if you prefer. Overall, I cannot recommend Dr. Surh enough. I’ve sent anyone who needs dental work to him and they all say the same – excellent service. Now the only downside: I have is that this man is the only DDS on site, so to see him, you may have to wait to see him. I promise you though, its worth the wait.

The whole team here is great and Dr. Surh is awesome! Originally, they didn’t have any open slots until mid June to early July but they managed to squeeze us in. Had a cleaning today and Ina, the hygienist was wonderful. She took the time to thoroughly explain and answer all my questions and I just appreciated how she took care of me. The staff at this office and efficient and intelligent. They assist you the moment you walk into the front door and there is no wait, not at any of my visits. If you come early, there is a single serve coffee machine there for you, so bring your toothbrush. The dental assistant (I believe mine was Meagan/Maureen?..I don’t remember her name) takes you right back into a clean, modern office. The dental assistant I had was awesome; very intelligent and nice. Dr. Suhr is of course seeing patients, in between, depending on your procedure so the office is a well oiled machine ensuring that your wait isn’t long. It’s a nice and relaxing place. For a dental office. One never really knows if someone is a “good” dentist or not if you think about it, but one can kind of tell, based on how the doctor describes your teeth to you and how he discusses the teeth to the assistant. You can tell there is a lot of experience there and they’re top notch. My only quibble, and this applies to pretty much all dentists and doctors in Chico, is that they don’t take Medi-cal. But it’s been explained to me by many professionals at Enloe and even acquaintances and friends who are doctors and who are in the health care industry and they say it’s not feasible for Chico dentists to accept Medi-Cal. It’s too bad there are no Dr. Suhrs to treat the Great Unwashed. haha that is meant as a joke people. I can say that if I’m on Medi-Cal. Besides, Jesus only hung out with the great unwashed. 😉 Absolutely fantastic dentist office and I cannot wait to visit more frequently when I have the insurance. By the way, this office pretty much takes all dental insurances so don’t be confused by my comments in the sentences above. 😀 Great office, go get your teeth cleaned!

This office is exceptionally clean, efficient and qualified. From the moment you walk in you can tell that this is a very professional and well maintained environment. Don’t know about you, but I appreciate that in a dentist! Only complaint would be the quick in and out feel, not as much conversation as I would have liked regarding my inquiries on possible dental ortho treatments they had available. I did grab some pamphlets on the way out and called with questions later that were answered on the call. They had someone cancel their cleaning and so I was offered the open appointment after my initial. Only an office who cares makes the effort to get as many things taken care of in one appointment as they can and it was very much appreciated. No issues billing insurance and they prepared me for my new patient appointment to help facilitate timeliness as much as possible. From text reminders to emailing me my new patient packet to have ready ahead of time, they really go above and beyond. Looking forward to my next visit!

Dr. Surh and his staffs are amazing. I and my husband go there for our regular check-ups for about 3 years by now and it’s been never disappointing. ‘Seeing a dentist’ can be the scariest thing to anyone (to me, it was), but Dr. Surh and his staffs make my worries go away. Dr. Surh always explains things very clearly and well, and asks my opinions and ideas as well. And he pays attentions to my thoughts! My dentist visit was amazing! The staff are friendly and great communicators when working with some insurance conflicts. They also went out of their way to me feel super comfortable. The office was clean and beautiful: two T.V.’s to look at when you are getting worked on, coffee, comfy chairs and a room diffuser. I barely had to wait to be seen. Dr. Surh was also really friendly, professional, a good communicator and took the time to fully answer my questions after inspection. They sent me away with a dentist “gift bag” which I have never been so excited to receive (the best dentist gift bag you will ever receive…hands down). I am really impressed by their operation. I have never liked going to the dentist, but now… I’m excited to go back!

I had to have to have something done right away and they fit me in for the urgent care I needed. He is a gentle dentist and has good communication skills. I am so happy to have found Dr. Surh’s office and to finally have a dentist I feel confident going to. His office is nicely set up: comfortable waiting area, TV’s in all the rooms, and a generous goody bag for your first visit. All the staff I interacted with were professional and kind. The hygienist for the day of my cleaning was great and made sure I was comfortable along the way and was extremely thorough in her work. Dr. Surh himself was personable and conservative with his care. I like that the initial exam and cleaning are on separate days so that you’re not spending so much time there in one day (just enough time for a single episode of Property Bros…haha)
