I had to have a crown put on my tooth. I have never had one before and I wasn’t looking forward to it. Dr. Beck made it easy though. He really made me feel at ease as did his assistant, Kim. They worked together as top notch professionals to get my crown put on. Dr. Beck explained every step to me in plain English. He showed me how he was going to model the crown and have it created right there in the office. The technology is pretty amazing. They have a machine that creates your crown based on a 3D scan of your tooth. One visit and you’re done! I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Beck and the rest of the team at South Waterfront Dental. I also want to specifically recommend the other Kim, who I see for my regular dental appointments. She is always friendly and makes me feel at home.

Dr. Todd Beck was recommended to me by a very good friend of mine who knows everything about me and specifically my fears about going to the Dentist (bad experience as a child with a different dentist). It had been 10 years since my last visit to a Dentist and the decade marker gave me enough courage, along with my friend’s recommendation, to finally go to the dreaded Dentist! When I called to schedule the appointment, I was met on the phone by a lovely woman’s voice who seemed quite warm, welcoming, and authentically engaged in her work and attentiveness to my needs, not just going through the motions of a “job”. I explained my initial needs and desires along with my concerns which she addressed confidently and most reassuringly to allay my fears of the dreaded Dentist visit! In addition, she explained, while confirming the dental appointment, what I could do to prepare for the visit and what the insurance billing process would look like and how it was handled. Excellent! When I actually arrived for my appointment at the South Waterfront Dental location – which was perfect for me since I can walk there – I was greeted personally and professionally by the woman I had spoken with on the phone and was then introduced to Dr. Todd Beck. Dr. Todd Beck was a very warm, sincere and genuine human being with a personality, not simply a “drone” dentist. He gave me an inviting handshake and smile as we discussed what I needed to get done and how that would unfold. During the procedure both Dr. Beck and his assisting staff made me feel at complete ease with the process. They explained what they were doing, why they were doing it, and how I would experience it through various sensations. Both Dr. Beck and his staff were open to questions and commentary throughout the procedure and after. The actual environment of the Dentist office itself was quite sterile in the medical-procedural way, but the color scheme, personality of the staff and even the “office dog” truly put me into a state of relaxation and ease. As great as a Dentist visit can be it; it was! To sum up the experience, I would describe it as both professional and authentic. Looking forward to the routine maintenance… and I managed to get out of there with only a filling and a thorough cleaning! 🙂 Thanks to Dr. Todd Beck and all of his staff members!

I can’t give enough praise to Dr. Beck and his staff. Recently I had an infection. My face swelled up and I was hideously hideous. Not to mention the pain. Actual real pain, not the kind that a man feels when he wakes up to one of his eyebrows having been shaved off, but a throbbing (please remove my face from me) type of pain. I walked into the office expecting screams of horror and disgust. I assumed children would scream, mothers would hit me with their purses. Men would call the dogcatcher. Well I’m not an animal. In reality I was greeted with sympathy and compassion. I did not have an appointment, but they rushed me right in. It was a Friday. One of those gloomy, wet, and dark days that Oregonians are all too familiar with. The only thing darker than that mid afternoon day, was my attitude. Dr. Beck did all he could do for me, and informed me that he was leaving town for the weekend. Now here is where the story takes a surprising twist. He actually gave me his cell phone number and told me to call him immediately if I needed to. What kind of doctor does that? I dated a doctor once, and it was like pulling teeth to get her number. Get it, pulling teeth. Pun intended. Back to the story. Anyways, the antibiotics Dr. Beck prescribed worked incredibly. Yet he still called and texted multiple times throughout the weekend to check on me. What a standup guy.

I love this dental office and I love that its in my neighborhood! The staff is very friendly and Dr Beck is very professional and down to earth! Christina at the front desk is great and greets you with a warm smile as soon as you walk in. No one likes going to the dentist, but the staff at this office makes you feel very welcomed! Kim, my hygienist was the best hygienist that has ever worked on me! She knows how to have a conversation, which is great for me because it makes time go by faster! She tells you what she is doing instead of just digging in your mouth! I love this dental office and my husband and I have found the perfect dentist for life!

Amazing experience. My hygienist, , deserves 6 stars out of 5. She was thorough, kind, and took her time to explain to me everything, paused for questions, and left my teeth literally sparkling. Dr. Beck was warm, kind, and thorough as well. Cannot recommend this practice enough. I will be back, and I will be sending my family and friends here, as well.

I chose to come to Dr. Beck’s office because we moved into the building across the street so the location was very convenient for me and my husband. We have come in for both our cleanings, which went very well. The hygienists are very thorough and talked to you the whole time to A–not make you feel like you needed to talk and move your mouth around and B–to keep you focused on the sound of their voice and not the tools whirling around in your mouth… I really appreciated the latter to keep my anxiety levels down. Bonus, awesome goodie bag upon departure, it’s not just toothpaste samples and a toothbrush in a disposable plastic baggie… it’s an actually travel zip-lock type of compact bag, plus the traditional toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, pen, and various other samples too. I also had some chipping issues with one problematic tooth, Dr. Beck fixed it for me.. twice (the second time, complimentary). He also adjusted my mouth guard to accommodate the new composite he added onto my tooth, then gave me a referral to a specialist should it become further bothersome based on any particular bite issues i may have. He is thorough, and experienced, and has a great dental circle for contacts such as what he provided me. His staff is friendly, there’s never a wait so you get in and out of your appointments on time, and his lobby area is well stocked. If you don’t live in the area though and are driving here, you’ll need to park at a meter. I think it’s about $1.60 per hour, but be sure to put in enough time because the meter-patrol is pretty strict about expired permits.

I read great reviews online before coming to south waterfront dental and the reviews turned out to be very accurate! As a nurse, I’m picky with my health care and south water front was top notch. The whole staff is super friendly as well as efficient and effective. They also do great education and take time to explain everything they’re doing. Will be sticking with this dentist:)

Echoing the other reviews, Dr. Beck and his team are awesome! Everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment you walk in the door, and I never had to wait more than 5 minutes after arriving. Dr. Beck takes time to chat with you and ask you how you’re doing. He’s also very patient and understanding. The office is nicely decorated, very warm and inviting. I initially chose South Waterfront Dental due to the fact that it’s one block away from my apartment, but even if I move away from the south waterfront, I’ll still keep Dr. Beck as my dentist.

I recently moved into the South Waterfront area, so this place is right around the corner from where i live. Clean, new establishment. Very friendly staff. I came in for just a regular checkup but the hygienist did a very thorough job, talking me through each process, and giving some advice along the way for general maintenance. Overall very satisfied.
