I can definitely see why they have such good reviews. This office was referred to me by a friend after a traumatic experience with my previous dentist. My first visit was for an emergency tooth extraction. The dentist and hygienist who worked with me were professional, kind, understanding, and patient. The dentist sat down with me and told me about what my options were and told me what she thought we should do. She was tactful and calm with me, and did everything in her power to calm me down. Honestly, I have enough dental anxiety that the only way I could be calm during a visit is if I’m sedated, and I didn’t have enough time between my call and the visit to get the medication for that. The website says it is something they offer, and I’ll have to ask. They put on soothing ocean sounds, they were calm and cheered me on the whole way, they spoke to me encouragingly, laid things out easily, and were overall incredibly professional and kind through the whole experience. I plan to call back and set up a plan to get the rest of my dental work done. I really love this office. The receptionists are on top of things and very thorough. I would recommend this office to everyone I speak to!

Mama: We have been going to the office more than 10 years, and, we continue to go after moving away more than 1 h driving distance. We have not found a place with comparable quality of work, nice treatment from clerk to the doctor. And, Drs. are very fast, precise and thorough. We have never experienced anything negative after root canals, implants extractions, and tons of fillings. To give just a detail, we brought our 6 year old girl, the Dr. did three cavities, pulled a baby tooth, and we have not heard a cry. All we heard Dr. singing children songs to her! Girl: I really like the TV in the kids room while waiting for my mama and papa. Boy: I don’t like any dentist! StarBrite would be the only one if I have to go! Dr. Lokhandwala is not only an excellent dentist but she truly cares about the long-term outcome of her work. I needed a molar implant. I paid out of pocket since many insurances don’t cover. She gives a discount if you are not insured. Not sure what happened but about 6 years later post where the molar attaches to the jaw was fractured. It could of been something hard I ate, but I was not aware it had fractured because there was enough to hold it in place. A routine cleaning of my teeth with my other dentist discovered the problem. When I came back to Dr. Lokhandwala, they found the problem. I was given a discount again, though it was still an expensive procedure. I now have my new implant and I will watch out what I eat on that side. Dr. told me even eating often almonds and seeds may cause fracture since the post does not “give”. No I will be aware.

I moved to the Bay area fall 2020 and had to begin the search for a new dentist immediately since I had pain in a molar tooth. Judy was able to schedule me for an appointment quickly for a filling and a cleaning. They were so professional during that experience that I asked about my invisalign options too. Dr. L talked me through what invisalign could do for me and pointed out things that it couldn’t fix so that I had realistic expectations. I’m currently on tray 7 out of 10 and am so happy with the adjustments so far! Everyone in the office has been so professional and kind from the front desk to assistants and both Dr. L and Dr. T. I would recommend their office to anyone, especially during Covid-19 as the entire office has been excellent about safety protocols.

You may recall from my previous posts that I’m sincerely, genuinely afraid of having any kind of dental procedures. Previous experiences gave ‘trust’ permission to freedom. Amy’s clinical support brings exceptional enhancements to the practice. I felt no pain during Dr. Gavi’s administration of local anesthetic. Afterwards, although having a busy schedule, Dr. Munira came into my bay, checked and ensured there were no issues with my recent work. What a difference an update makes!  I seriously complained about the miserable experience I had last Spring.  Dr. Munira called me within a day and discussed the problems intelligently.  But I wasn’t really mollified, so i said: “maybe i’ll come back in 6 months, but I’m not ready now to recommit to your practice.”  Out of inertia and not knowing a good dentist in Berkeley, I reconsidered and got an appointment for yesterday in the morning.  Everything was great: the oral hygenist who did the first part of the cleaning, then the dentist who did the deep cleaning were: informed, agile, friendly, funny, responsive and adept.  It was great.  So now I’m back with this practice for some time.  Thanks!!

Just having my second implant by Dr. Lokhandwala, who graciously came to the office specially to take care of the final stage out of her normal hours in the office just to finalize the implant before my knee surgery so that I didn’t go under the scalpel with any removable prosthesis. As with the former one, the crown fits precisely with the adjacent teeth and the feeling when masticating is as if he natural tooth was still there. I don’t mind driving more than 1.5 hours on mountain roads and cross the bay to get the kind of dedicated, knowledgeable, and affordable treatment Dr. Lokhandwala provides. Thank you! Taruno

I don’t usually write reviews but since I dread going to a dentist, I have to write this review. They do an amazing job! The front desk is friendly and I have been for three appointments now and never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes to get my number. I came here for one oral examination and two deep cleaning appointments and it was so smooth. I was so scared at first looking at all the deep cleaning videos but Dr. Tarik (I hope I spelled it right) made it such a great experience for me. She is so gental and comforting. Very understanding towards her patients and makes sure the process goes as smooth as possible. Dr. Munira and Dr. Tarik gave me some great tips to help my gums heal faster and how to take care of my teeth afterwards. I’m coming back for a crown soon and I’m more excited than scared for my appointment. I will highly recommend this place to anyone who’s scared of dentist appointments. They really are awesome! I love this place! I am fortunate to have found them when I did! I had been going to my primary dentist for 15 years but their service was detreating; subsequently, my teeth were too! Dr. Lokhandwala has been my dentist since 2008 when I was looking for porcelain veneers. I had consulted with several other dentists who tried to falsely convince me that I needed 6-8 of my upper teeth veneered to get a “natural appearance”. Dr. Lokhandwala assured me that only my front 4 teeth would be necessary to enhance my natural teeth so I immediately trusted and respected her honesty and integrity. I could also tell her from humble confidence, vast knowledge and skill set, professionalism, and patient portfolio that she was an EXCELLENT cosmetic and restorative dentist. My results exceeded my expectations and I was ecstatic w/how perfect yet completely natural-looking my veneers were! She blended the shape, color, and alignment w/my other teeth so well that I literally could not tell the difference and neither could the people who complimented me on my teeth over the years. My veneers held up well for over 12 years but due to teeth clenching/eating something hard, I have had a couple of veneers slightly chip and I would call her office in a panic. But each time, her amazing and understanding staff would get direct permission from Dr. Lokhandwala to squeeze me into her tight schedule on the SAME DAY and she would quickly and expertly patch my veneers. Thanking her for accommodating me and complimenting her masterful work, she was always humble about it. Upon a routine cleaning one year, Dr. Lokhandwala warned me that a brown spot on my molar would form into a cavity if I was not diligent w/my dental hygiene. I asked if she should preemptively repair that tooth and she said it was unnecessary, again proving she is not profit-driven but is ethical and genuinely cares about her patients. I absolutely recommend the highly-respected and experienced (25 years of practice) Dr. Lokhandwala and will forever be a patient of hers!

My review is two fold: 1. Fear of dental procedures: After an episode where the anesthesia stopped working during my C-section, the thought of anesthesia began terrifying me. I have been going to Starbrite for a few years now but this was the first time I had to replace my crown and get anesthesia since my traumatic experience with the c-section. The staff was so kind, understanding and caring. They checked in with me constantly, and did everything they could to help me have a better experience. I was humbled by how much they truly cared about me and how I felt during the procedure. They ended up finding a work around so I didn’t have to replace the crown yet, as this allowed me some more time to process my fear of anesthesia before I need to return and do the true procedure. 2. Children check ups: For routine check ups, we go as a family and everyone is very sweet with my 5 and 2 year olds. There is a TV on the ceiling that helps distract the kids, and they give them a little toy at the end. My 5 year old was very curious about her permanent teeth and the dentist went back into the system to show my 5 year old her teeth that had not cut through yet. My 2 year old keeps asking when we will go back to the dentist. I really recommend them for any families with little ones and/or people with any sort of anxiety related to dentist visits.

I had veneers done on my 2 front teeth from another dentist 18 months prior. Not long after they were installed, my right-front veneer cracked and actually chipped away from the top of the tooth at the gums. I was obviously reluctant to go back to the same dentist to have her fix the broken veneer. My wife saw StarBrite Dental in Fremont and found that they had good reviews. Let me tell you, I have not had great experiences with dentists ever since I broke my 2 front teeth at the age of 6. Dr. Lokhandwala and her staff were so courteous and friendly that I immediately felt comfortable. I went into the appointment thinking they would take some x-rays, pictures, molds, etc. and they would schedule another appointment once my “fix” was ready. They actually fixed (permanently) the tooth right there, on the spot, with perfect color matching. This and some x-rays were all done in under an hour. Overall, this was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend StarBrite Dental to anyone looking for an easy, comfortable (as can be) dental experience.

I was pretty skeptical of dentists period, and of the five stars this place received.  I have had some extra terrible experience with dentists who didn’t listen to my medical-contributed issues and lost a lot of time, and a few teeth, to this type of treatment. Dr Munira listened to everything I stated, and from back in 2013 until now, incorporates the past and present concerns into every visit.  She is, without a doubt, AMAZING as a dentist and person.  Since then, I’ve never left her office feeling worse or regretful.  Front desk staff, especially but not limited to Janice, have been a delight to accommodate me via email and phone, and are a delight to talk to while waiting for the doctor.  The dental hygienists are extra caring, but the amazement is in how Dr. Munira takes one of the scariest experiences and makes it as painless as possible.  When you say “that hurts” in that mumbled muted breath, she listens and will reapproach her method.  When she’s talking to you, she actually takes what you say into account.  I just left yesterday, and I was driving home going “I LOVE MY DENTIST” because she handled an issue that started very negative and made it work GREAT!  Never going to another dentist if I can help it.  EVER!!
