I’ve been going to Dr. Van Wicklen for years, but recently I took off from work to drive my elderly dad to their office. He needed to have his teeth cleaned, plus a crown had recently fallen off. They didn’t try to sell him on a new crown. Instead Dr. Wicklen and staff stayed a little late and glued his original crown back on – saving my dad money, and saving all of us time. Caring for aging parents is a lot of work, so small gestures like this mean a lot!  Thanks so much!

On a Sunday afternoon in March, I cracked a molar while eating some tortilla chips and went through the dreaded task of finding a dentist. We had just moved to Austin the previous month, and on top of not really knowing anyone, I also don’t have dental insurance. I was afraid I would need a crown, but had such a terrible experience getting a crown with a previous dentist, I wanted to find someone well-rated for that work. I was happy to find a couple of dentists in the area who create same-day crowns using CEREC technology (3-D imaging and no impressions!) so I decided to visit Dr. Van Wicklen in case I needed a crown. I called Monday morning and was able to get in at 10am the same day, and I was able to fill out the necessary forms online prior to my appointment. To my surprise and great relief, he said he felt he could save the tooth with a filling and promptly, skillfully, and painlessly went about getting that done. It was done very quickly and expertly, and I nearly cried with gratitude that Dr. Van Wicklen repaired my tooth in the least expensive manner when he could have insisted on selling me a crown. The receptionist and assistants in his office were very pleasant, and I felt I’d made an excellent choice. I will go to Dr. Van Wicklen for future dental visits and recommend him highly!

In addition to being very knowledgeable and experienced, he is very caring. He always makes sure the patient is comfortable and that they’re not feeling pain. I have been a patient for about 10 years. He’s the best dentist I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to many over the years.

After having the same dentist for 23 years, I switched to Dr. Van Wicklen upon moving to Austin. I have had a great experience in my two visits, and my dental work was very well done. They took the time to lay out what my out-of-pocket costs would be, and even gave me a competitive rate with other in-network dentists. Overall, a wonderful experience. Highly recommend.

I cannot say enough great things about South Austin Dentist and their friendly, caring staff. They make me feel very comfortable and I honestly don’t dread going to the dentist anymore. They’ve helped with fillings and give great, gentle cleanings. I was referred to them by a coworker after being unhappy with other dentists around town. I highly recommend Dr. Van Wicklen & team!

Dr. Wicklen and his dental hygienists and staff are so kind and personable! I’ve only been in for a couple visits but already feel like a regular. Their bedside manner is great – I always feel comfortable and that my smile is in good hands. I never feel pressured to do any cosmetic work. Today, I had to get a tiny filling and was in and out in half an hour (without feeling rushed or anything like that). I recommend Dr. Wicklen to anyone new to Austin or anyone that wants an A+ experience!!

I am a recent transplant from Seattle to Austin. Finding good services, etc., in these circumstances, often amounts to a ‘hit’ or ‘miss’; Dr. Van Wicklen and every single one of his staff have proven to be a massive hit! I’ve had a couple cleanings, a root canal and crown and several composites – In one case, i was accommodated immediately. I presume the costs are comparable, but then again you can’t put a price on excellence!

Dr. Van Wicklen and his team made me so happy today. I had an emergency situation where my crown broke and they fit me in within 20 minutes of me calling. Dr. Van Wicklen was so sweet and made going to the dentist a much more pleasant experience than normal. I found out about the same day crowns which is a real game changer for me as my temporaries always fell off before I got the permanents in the past. Best dentist in ATX without a a doubt.

I’ve been going here for years now. Absolutely love how friendly the staff is and how they always take the time to talk to me and remember little things about my life. Makes me feel taken care of and valued as a customer. Dr. Van Wicklen is super knowledgeable, works quickly, and is actually affordable. I highly recommend this place for the atmosphere, friendliness, and quality of work.

If anybody is looking for a dental home…this office is the place to be. They treat you like family. I’ve never had such a greay cleaning ever! Seriously, you get your money’s worth in excellant care & spend their time doing it ALL! Most offices will spend 30 min to a hour on you but this office will spend as much time as needed. I appreciate Dr. Van Wicklen & also Dr. J. Glenn who fills in for Dr Van Wicklen when needed. Both are very good as well as all the employees of this office. Thanks for taking care of not only myself but my husband & my 96 yr old mother.

Best dental experience of my entire life! I needed a crown and a friend told me that there were dentists who had the technology to do it in one day. I was sold, because 1) I want to minimize the amount of time I spend at the dentist so if I could do it in one appointment vs. two I wanted in! And 2) because I didn’t want to walk around with a temporary for 2 weeks. I searched “same day crown” and Dr. Van Wicklen came up with great reviews. I called the office and the friendliest receptionist said they could fit me in the next day. I told her I was nervous and she said, “You’re going to love it here.” And she was 100% right! The appointment was not just bearable but pleasant. Dr. Van Wicklen made the appointment almost completely painless and Emma, his assistant was so kind and caring. Needless to say, they’ve got a new client for as long as I’m in Austin. Thanks everyone at South Austin Dentist for making my afternoon as delightful as getting a crown put on your tooth can possibly be!

Dr Van Wicklen and his staff were great during a recent emergency visit to their office on South Lamar. I was in severe pain from a fractured tooth. They got me in quickly and addressed the issue immediately. The office is pleasant and modern with a nice view out the windows. Dr Van Wicklen does a great job of setting you at ease and providing top notch dentistry. I will recommend this office to all my friends and family.
