Excellent experience.  Dr. Mark Kim has a great “chairside” manner.  He explains dental options and procedures extremely well and makes you feel comfortable.   His staff went over the estimated bill and outlined what portion insurance pays vs patient out of pocket expenses so there wasn’t any surprise when it came time to pay the bill.   He also uses state of the art  X-ray diagnositic equipment, limiting radiation exposure that older equipment doesn’t allow.  For those needing after hours dental care or Saturday appointments, see Dr. Kim.  Saturday dental hours are hard to find.

I can not say anything bad about Dr Kim and his staff (Fabiola). Absolutely AMAZING!!!  Truly cares for his patients. My husband was in pain all night and needed a dentist on Saturday. I search the internet for a dentist and saw the great reviews Sunshine Dental had and wondered if they were true. I called his office and was amazed at the professionalism and personal touch I received. The dentist actually talked to me himself and took the time to verify my insurance information. He went step by step with my husband of what he was going to do. I had never been here before, but I guarantee you I will return. If you really hate going to the dentist (like my husband & I) I highly recommend Dr Kim.  AMAZING…AMAZING…AMAZING!

I absolutely HATE going to the dentist. I’ve had pushy dentists try to sell me on every little thing there is to be sold.  Insurance has always been an issue.  Never good news when visiting.  I was the type of person who was recommended to go every 2-3 months for a cleaning and I because of this, I hadn’t been to one in a few years – avoidance issues at this point.  How many cavities are they going to say I have this time?  Deep cleaning?  Probably.  Root canal?  Wouldn’t be surprised. That’s where Sunshine Dental comes in.  My wife had been here before and swears that Dr. Kim doesn’t seem to up-sell/ push for more work that need be done, just to get more money out of his patients.  And upon going here for my first checkup in 5000 years, I can confirm she was right! Dr. Kim was extremely professional, knowledgeable, honest and to the point.  He’s very understanding to certain situations and explains things easily.  He also breaks down how you can maximize your insurance (frequency of visits) to ensure that 1. You have a clear understanding of how the insurance will be utilized towards your visits and 2. How you can make the best financial decisions for yourself.  This is extremely appreciated coming from someone who is in the finance industry. His assistant Dee was also very friendly and thorough with the cleaning! I’m also a high risk person during the pandemic having asthma and I felt like the place was very clean/ safe.  All in all, I NEVER thought I’d use this word to describe a dental visit, but it was very pleasant.  I think I found my new dental home!

I was looking for a new dentist and found this place through Yelp. Based on all the reviews (yes, I read them all) I decided to give this place a call. Another reason I called this place was because they were on a list that accepted my insurance. I initially contacted another dentist, but the receptionist was VERY rude. Desiree is an angel! haha she answered my questions regarding insurance, how to become a patient and appoint-booking very professionally and politely. My interaction with her was one reason I decided to give this place a try. Location is in a small plaza (I passed the first entrance) with a fair amount of parking. I didn’t have a problem finding a spot. There is at least one spot reserved just for patients~ woo! First-time patients fill out some paperwork (2 pages fill, 2 pages sign). You’re also handed informational sheets. My appointment started with x-rays. Quick and painless. I like how the girl did a little run to go push the button. Other places just take their time and walk. Next was:  consultation=. recommendations (with explanations) explaining me what he can see from the x-rays (cavities, potential cavities, etc) noted all previous work on my teeth (it was like he was psychic! haha). had me hold a mirror to show me what he sees. made a list of things he’d like to have done to my teeth (and he prioritized them) teeth flossingcleaning Dr. Kim explained everything in detail! He also tolls me why he explains things– which I like. After this visit to Dr. Kim… now I’m wondering the heck my last dentist(s) we’re doing. it was like every visit I had a new cavity, but Dr. Kim noted ALL current cavities and potential cavities. He also stresses “no surprises” which I find very helpful. I honestly only wanted to come in for a cleaning and cavity fill (which actually needs to be root canal). But after my initial visit I do believe I have found my dentist! Update: had to be referred to a specialist and Desiree took care of everything from calling them to booking an appointment for me. I’ve been left to fend for myself before & this was great!

I came to this dentist because my co-worker referred me and I am pretty happy about the first visit. I came in and got my x-rays taken right away. I was informed that I did not have any cavities but we could re-do two fillings to avoid it from cracking. I like the fact that Dr. Kim was very straight forward and honest on what needs to be worked on or hold off on. I like the professionalism of this office and I will be referring it to anybody that needs a dentist.

Went in because I had a wisdom tooth that was latterly killing me, all it took was one call and I had an appointment. The receptionist was polite and did not rush me off the phone. When I went in early they welcomed me and I filled out 2 forms, had a little issue with the insurance since I am not the primary holder. Had to call the insurance directly to get their verification number. But through all this I was happy to see smiling faces and a dentist who comes to the front desk and greets his patients. So they have pretty advance X-Ray machines which were easy! Just stand there and let this machine revolve around your head for 30 Sec and you’re done.  There was no wait time…the dentist came in introduced himself told me exactly what he was going to do and got to it. Dr. Kim gave me enough Novocain that I did not feel a thing. Through the whole thing he kept asking if I was ok, which was great cause it made me feel reassured that if I was in pain he would stop. Before I knew it I was done and on my way home. He gave me a pain med prescription for Vicodin which I was hoping would work for me but did not. I got home and about 2 hrs. Later the pain came and I was in bed thinking “Oh my god why!?” This was my first wisdom tooth extraction…and I have to say it was the worst pain of my life. I am feeling way better now but I am dreading going back for the other 3 that the dentist said should be removed. All in all I am in love with this Dental Office and even dragged my boyfriend in for his checkup. I will be going back in 6 months for my cleaning and I am sure it will be great service too!

This is a review overdue.  Again, Dr. Kim saved me from another sales pushing dentist, this time a very prominent endodondist in Torrance that Yelp misled me to go with the good reviews.  Over a year ago, I had suffered from ongoing pain in one tooth that had undergone root canal years ago.  The pain worried me because I wasn’t supposed to feel anything on that tooth.  After one week, the pain didn’t go away like I hoped and  it gave me problem chewing. It became unbearable to me so I came here to find and anedodonist since I knew that tooth was just not the ordinarily tooth for general dentist, it was a tooth that already had a root canal years ago.  The endodonist took x-ray of my tooth and told me I needed a root canal at $3000, because my previous root canal failed and my root was re-infected…. He told me I should get it done today or I could die…when I hesitated about the procedure.  He said if he were me, he wouldn’t leave the office at that moment. I left because my past experience with pushy dentists made me feel uncomfortable to rush into another procedure.  I went to Dr. Kim for a second opinion, he examined me and gave me an honest and unbiased opinion.  He said he didn’t see anything on the x-ray, no infection. He told me he honestly didn’t know why I experienced the pain I experienced on a tooth that supposedly shouldn’t feel anything.  He told me he would monitor my tooth, and in the meantime, I should wear mouth guard when I sleep because I was grinding my tooth. I followed his advice to wear mouth guard and my pain went away. He saved me from another unnecessarily procedure.  It was just not the money, but I my tooth avoided another unnecessary shaving of the root for a second root canal that will weaker the tooth structure and lead to eventual extraction in the long run. It really pained my heart to read other reviewers saying Dr. Kim as dishonest.  Again, insurance and charge had nothing to do with quality of care! I don’t have dental insurance, because I don’t care about shitty dental plans.

I went to Dr. Kim on the recommendation of a friend who raved about how good he was. It turned out to be an excellent recommendation. I first went for a check-up, X-rays, and a cleaning.  He discovered that I had a large cavity in a wisdom tooth and recommended it be removed as the opposing lower wisdom tooth had been removed. During the entire process Dr. Kim was great at ensuring that I was comfortable and was well informed of what was happening. I scheduled another appointment to have the tooth removed. It turns out the tooth was in very bad shape and it was a real challenge to remove it without shattering the tooth. As he was working on it he apprised me what was happening and that there was a possibility he might have to send me to a surgeon to get it out. He did such an excellent job of numbing the area that I felt absolutely no pain even though he had to really work hard to remove the tooth and through his tenacity he was able to remove it. I’m not a big Yelper but I am so impressed with his abilities and attitude that I wanted to share this with others so that they may take advantage of what a great dentist Dr. Kim is.

I was referred to Dr Kim by my periodontist, Dr Farahmad. She referred me to him because I had two fillings that needed to be replace. She assured me that he does real good work and highly recommends him to her patients. All I can say is that I’m glad that I trust her because she was right. I read Dr Kim’s reviews and he does deserve more than 5 stars. His staff was very friendly. Dr Kim explains every step before and during the procedure. He makes you feel comfortable and if there’s any extra dental work that needs to be taken care of, he will tell you if it can wait or not. He’s office hours are perfect because he’s open on Saturdays, which mean I don’t have to take time off from work.

Dr. Mark really cares about his patients. The patient comes first, not the patient’s money in this office. He honest, gentle in performing dental work, and he is trustworthy. My spouse worked in their office for a time and all of these qualities remained constant. I have had my dental work done their and will continue to because of it. GOD Bless!

After moving to the area and looking for a new dentist for my regular cleaning and check-ups, I tried Sunshine Dental due to positive reviews. I found the reviews accurate.  Dr. Kim has a nice, new, small practice.  The ‘small’ is in no way a criticism.  It means more personal attention.  There was none of the condescension, impatience, or lack of discussion on additional proposed work that I’ve experienced in some more established dental practices. Dr. Kim was very approachable and forthcoming with explanations.  I will be returning.

I am a Ex- Assistant of Dr. Kim and also a Patient. After years of working in the dental field and working for several different Dentist. He is a breath of fresh air. He is honest and has wonderful chair side manners. He takes his work seriously and will put in 110 % into it. He always putting his Patients first and never diagnose what is not necessary. Also he does beautiful work and is a joy to work for.  I had to leave his office due to a really rough pregnancy. He was extremely understanding and kind about it. I thank him because most employers would treat you like dirt. I am now a stay at home mom and my family and I will continue to go to his office because he is a genital and I know he will do good work on us.  It is extremely hard to come across a honest and good dentist that has  such beautiful work.  Take my word for it, you will not be disappointed.

Today was my second visit with Dr. Kim, and I regret not yelping after my first visit.  Dr. Kim is truly the best dentist I’ve ever been to. He treated me with such care and provided great detail when it came to my teeth.  It feels good to have a dentist that is transparent in providing his suggestions with facts to back them up.  He answered all questions and concerns and showed that he valued me as a patient.  The staff and receptionist were just as welcoming and attentive.  I am so glad I’ve found such a great place!

This is the only dentist that I go to and I don’t feel like I’m at a dentist – does that make sense? Before I went to Sunshine Dental, I was literally afraid of going to the dentist because 1) they’re shoving lots of painful tools in your mouth 2) they don’t tell you why they’re shoving those painful tools in your mouth and 3) they’re putting tools in your mouth and touching things like the overhead lamp, their pockets, sink faucets (germs. ew.) I can’t emphasize how far Dr. Kim is from any of this. He is not only a really sweet and easygoing person but he actually patiently explains what’s going on with the treatment, why he’s doing what he’s doing, and what you can do to maintain healthy teeth! The office itself is very clean and tidy and you’re in and out in no time with minimal wait-time. Go see Dr. Kim! You can tell he really cares about the health of your teeth/gums and they always give you a little goody bag of floss/toothbrush when you check out!

I usually only write negative because I hold my opinions to a very high standard. But holy talito, Dr. Kim is the most reasonable, honest, helpful dentist I’ve ever visited in my life. He gives advice like a trustworthy friend, and talks to you in such a soothing and respectful tone. He’s knowledgable, won’t lie to you, and he cleans your teeth, without making you feel super guilty or upcharging you. His staff is also very friendly. They really give you their time & day. I highly recommend Sunshine Dental. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Kim

Dr. Kim is by far the most wonderful dentist I have ever been to! I I am petrified of Dentists because I had a really bad experience in the past and just haven’t been in a long time because of it.  When I got there, his staff was so sweet and warm, and very patient and helpful.  Dr. Kim is a very compassionate dentist, who really cares about his patients and he went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and understood everything that he was doing.  He has the best “bedside manners” that I have ever seen, and you can tell he really cares about  making sure that his patients are knowledgeable and educated.  I absolutely love him, and will never go to another dentist.  My husband went as well and he had major things wrong with his mouth, and Dr. Kim was very caring and made sure that my husband understood everything that was going on and felt comfortable. So many Dentists are about just making the money and not really caring about the job that they do, but Dr. Kim doesn’t try to push procedures on you that you really don’t need, just to get the money.  If it’s something that he feels he can’t do, like save a tooth or something, he will explain why and also show you exactly what he is looking at and why he came to that conclusion. I was so afraid and dreaded going to dentist but now all my fears have subsided, because I have found the greatest Dentist in the world.  If you are looking for a well educated, extremely patient, compassionate and caring Dentist, than Dr. Kim is the guy for you and Sunshine Dental is the place to go.  I HIGHLY recommend them and am going to tell everyone just how wonderful of a Dentist Dr. Kim is!

I found this place because of all the great yelp reviews and let me say that they are spot on! Dr. Kim is seriously the best dentist I have ever been to. He explains everything super thoroughly and constantly checks in with you to make sure you are doing ok while he is working on you. I also love that on Tuesdays and Thursdays they are open late (SO nice to not have to worry about going during the work day!) I highly recommend this place.

Adding to the other happy patients who had a wonderful experience with Dr. Kim and his staff.  I would note that I am pregnant, and in my 2nd trimester, and I felt comfortable with Dr. Kim’s treatment the whole way.  I went to see him after moving from NY and needed a lot of care including 1 root canal and 4 fillings.  He took his time explaining his recommendations, special things to note for the pregnancy (e.g. minimal xrays), answered my many questions, and even allowed me to see some of the work along the way with a hand mirror.  Each tooth he worked on is comfortable, and I have high hopes that they will continue to be.  Jen at the front desk is lovely to schedule with and the dental hygienist (Deanna?) was sweet and knowledgeable as well.  Good teamwork and vibes in the office.  Overall a great experience, and I have recommended the office to all my family members.

I used to go to Dental Associates of Torrance for years but I was getting tired after they made me wait for HOURS even though they didn’t seem to be busy plus I think they’re a little hard sell so I decided to take the jump and look for another dentist. At first, I never thought about going to a small practice, just my personal preference. I found Sunshine Dental from Yelp. Everyone seems to give a very good rating so I decided to give it a try. Dr Kim and his staff are very professional. I went to a different dentist that had a similar name first time. Dr Kim and his staff waited for me and were very patience! Dr Kim was never at any point trying to upsell any additional or unnecessary procedure(s). Indeed, Dr Kim would recommend the least invasive and least costly for his clients!

Let me start by saying I hate going to the dentist and I don’t go until I absolutely have to.  I must say after my experiences here through the years that I am becoming less afraid of going to the dentist.  First, I appreciate that Dr Kim, though he is an experienced dentist takes the time to do his patients cleanings. Most dentists don’t do cleanings because they think they are above doing them, and they’re typically done by someone else-not dr kim!  He is a kind, gentle, patient-focused, thorough dentist who explains every step of his process.  I have been to numerous dental offices with shinier, newer equipment/facilities with higher pricing and have not received the highest level of care as I have here. The office itself isn’t huge, but don’t let that deter you. The dental hygienists and office staff are very nice and efficient, too. I highly recommend them.
