I had my first visit to the dentist in years yesterday. I HATE the dentist. I have memories of pain and drills and sounds that keep me up at night lol… But, the fear of neglect and of course, being toothless drove me to make an appointment. haha! I chose The Smile Center because of the other reviews I read online, their use of sedation dentistry (lol) and the friendly faces on the website. I also loved the user friendly aspect and patient portal section of their website. The office is very clean and inviting and I was suprised to find that it smelled soooo good. Not exactly what I thought I would find walking into a dentist office. I loved the windows in each room and the televisions above each chair. Some people may not like to see the doctor’s point of view but I thought it was pretty interesting. Clearly it’s been way too long since I was at the dentist, but I have never seen anything like that before. I’m sure I will still have some anxiety once the work gets started on my next visit in a month, but I feel I made the best decision coming to The Smile Center. I honestly do feel better already, which is saying a lot! Everyone is super friendly and clearly loves working there. That means so much. After the work is done, I will be getting my teeth whitened, which I am very excited about. I want sparkling teeth like everyone at The Smile Center!

I always expect something wonderful to happen everyday of my life; with the exception of ALL THINGS DENTAL… A few weeks ago I finally gathered up a nerve to reach out to THE Smile Center. I sent the email and thought nothing more of it. I received a follow up call the very next business day from Janine. She scheduled me and sent my new patient paperwork via email… a few days passed and she followed up to make sure I received the paperwork and answered any questions in anticipation of my appointment. She even offered to resend the paperwork so I wouldn’t have to go searching through my emails (WOW). Today I went to my appointment and from the moment I walked in, it was like I was THE ONLY PATIENT in the office. The attention, care and concern extended was remarkable I have EXTREME DENTAL ANXIETY and within 5-10 min, no lie I didn’t even remember I was in the dentist Every single person was personable, genuine and intentional about their service level. It was like being at a spa with a few great girlfriends. Dr. Frye thoroughly explained my treatment options Theresa answered all my follow up questions and was even able to get me scheduled for a cleaning today too. I mean they left no stone unturned and I was completely blown away. Sharetta the dental hygienist referred to them as “FANTASY DENTAL ISLAND” and I couldn’t agree more … seriously I have legit been smiling since I left…. Best experience ever and just as I was walking out Theresa was like hey take some flowers on your way out… WOW! WOW! WOW! I’m telling everybody I know GET HERE!!!! Thank you so much for being an extraordinary group of professionals who truly love what you do❤️

I needed to get it removed. I was able to see them in less than a week. He was able to remove it and the healing process is going well. What I love about the place is how they pay attention to your comfort and your needs. The staff and very friendly, positive, and passionate to serve their patients. Everyone wants to be there. He explained the treatment process with visuals of my teeth and what needs to be done. They go out of your way to care and help you have a beautiful smile. If you are looking for a dentist or a team of dentists, please give this office an opportunity to serve you. They are family-oriented and my wife and kids have been going to them for 10+ years. I highly recommend them.

Dr. Parr and his team have been taking care of me for the last five years. No matter what issue pops up there was never a hesitation to take care of me. It’s great to feel the confidence when it comes to your teeth. His administrative team is just as good they are informative, proactive, courteous, and always know what to do. I really appreciate the text message updates and the email updates for my appointments because my day is on a stopwatch and thing may get away from me…I would recommend smile Center any day of the week and I was not paid for these comments these comments are of my own and nobody has influenced me or asked me to take the survey.

Short wait time, clean restrooms, experienced, friendly, respectful and attentive- and I’ve been helped by both doctors. They are priced fairly for services rendered. Call them to find out about their package … I forgot the name of it, but for people without dental insurance this package is a bargain! It gives 2 cleanings, the x-rays and I forget the rest. Also, they offer the Dental Care Credit Card which makes it a nice monthly payment plan if you so choose.

Dr. Parr and his staff are phenomenal. I recently had to have two fillings done, and the experience was completely pain-free. Their attention to detail and calm demeanor make all the difference in the world. In addition to having great clinical skills, the office staff does an excellent job as well. I recently had a cosmetic dental procedure done by Dr Parr and it was a wonderful experience. I came in for a tooth extraction (my current dentist does not perform them) and left out feeling like I had been to a family member’s home. I was not in the market for looking for a new dentist, but unexpectedly I think I found her in Dr. Frey. My first impression experience was top-notch. I honestly don’t think it could be matched. When you walk into The Smile Center you know you’re in the right place. You are immediately greeted by the friendly, welcoming staff. Everyone knows your name. The waiting room is not your typical waiting room, it is big, open and airy. Not that you spend much time there anyway. The staff at The Smile Center are punctual, they have respect for your time and don’t leave you sitting around looking at your watch. I am the third person in my family to go to The Smile Center. We heard such good things about The Smile Center that we took our oldest son there for braces. We were so impressed by the professionalism and attention to every detail from Dr. Frey and her entire staff that we took our youngest son there 6 months later. Now I am a client of The Smile Center, in braces. Also, our whole family has switched to The Smile Center for general dentistry from a dentist our family had seen for 20 years. One more thing: Last month I had a problem with the wire on my braces causing pain. The Smile Center was closed. I called and within an hour I was met there by the young lady that usually sees me for my braces and my problem was solved and I was out the door in less than ten minutes. Impressive. If you’re in the Virginia Beach, Norfolk area, and looking for an orthodontist or dentist, there’s no place like The Smile Center.

I have been going to the smile center since I was a little kid. I moved away from the area and tried a few other places…. Big mistake and I came running back to the smile center!!! My first consultation back in almost 15 years and all of my worries and concerns were validated and understood. All of the staff members treat you like family and genuinely care from the second you walk in until the second you leave. I had some staff members remember me from over 15 years ago! They are still asking about how my family members are doing from when I was a kid. I HAD terrible dental anxiety due to another experience at a different dentist… and I have overcome my fear since returning here! I do not feel like I am ever being judged when getting my teeth cleaned or any type of procedure. I have had cleanings (Megan is my hygienist and she is great!!), a crown, and multiple fillings and they have all turned out great! I remember my first day retuning back here almost a year ago and I was telling everyone about how I enjoy going to the dentist now. And I was so happy to see they still give out a flower on your way out….I always look forward to getting one! This will be my dentist for life!

I called about my six year old daughter having something stuck in her tooth. I had no clue what it was and we couldn’t get it out. Not only did they get me in same day, they told me to head in and they would squeeze her in. We walked in and within 30 seconds of sitting down they brought us back to look at her mouth. The Dr. Parr was less than a minute behind us. We were in and out and in less than 10 minutes. They were patient and kind and my daughter was treated with nothing but friendly smiles. I love the level of care and joy that we are treated with each time we come in. I couldn’t be happier with them.

I admit, I have not been to any dentist in some time. I came here on an emergency visit Tuesday afternoon based on Yelp reviews alone. Yelp was right, this place is stellar. I have been terrified of the dentist for some time. Kind of like the car dealership, you have a go-between who talks billing and insurance with you away from the nurse and dentist. It’s discrete and comfortable without pressure. My nurse (dental hygienist) was Susan? Or Sandy? God she was an angel. She was so kind to me breaking down and upset and in pain. She made me feel so comfortable talking about stuff and offering anything I might need. My dentist was Dr Taylor who was incredibly knowledgeable and proficient. I got out what needed to come out and I even scheduled an appointment for regular maintenance later this month. I was made comfortable to be there, whether I needed nitrous or a valium, either are available. And they make sure you are physically comfortable with numbing. Mentally comfortable is hard, but true kindness shines through in the folks who work there. I got a kids “reward” (shark plushie) to hold while I had my procedure. When I left I got a “goodie bag” with full instructions on what I had done, extra gauze, and an emergency card. It’s a little hinky getting in with the road construction on witchduck road. But soon as your turn on Grayson, by the church, it’s there. There’s an employee entrance on the witchduck side and another saying Ste 200 on the side, even though the dentist is Ste 100, this is the door you go in.

Long story short, I had some heart arrhythmia happen one night and ended up passing out, hitting my face on the counter and breaking my front 3 teeth. I went to my local dentist in Suffolk and he recommended The Smile Center for crowns. I called them after my appointment and not only did they get me in right away but fixed everything the same day! STOP!! Look no further for dental/ortho care. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE The Smile Center. The office staff (Theresa, Lauren, and Crystal) are so warm and friendly from beginning to end. I LOVE Dr. Frey and her team (Megan and Mallory) they treat you with patience and gentle care, but most of all, they definitely guarantee their work. They have a lovely view of the outside in their treatment room and if you don’t want to look outside, you can look at HGTV while they attend to your oral needs. I have been going to The Smile Center for over a year and it’s not only for the treatment of my oral health, but also for the warm and loving reception I get every time I walk through the door. If I could describe The Smile Center in one word it would be PHENOMENAL!! From the front desk to the dental chair, you’ll receive the best service any business can provide. The facility is superbly clean and the atmosphere and environment is very comfortable and welcoming. Dr. Parr knows his stuff, to say the least, and is incredibly friendly, patient, and caring. The rest of the staff also have the most friendly and professional personalities I’ve ever seen. The tools and techniques they use are advanced and top notch. I recently had a cleaning and a consultation for an implant. Rebecca did my cleaning and did an absolutely amazing job which I could not have asked for better. Susan was the other hygienist who did my crown and also did an amazing job and made me feel very comfortable and calm as I was visibly a bit nervous. Lauren helped me with my consultation for my crown/implant and made it an easy and stress free experience for me as well. Overall, I give them 5/5 stars and would give 10 stars if I could!

Take it from someone who has an extreme phobia of dentists and a very low tolerance for pain.. this is the best dentist that I have ever experienced in 40+ years!! Due to horrible, frightening experiences with the dentist throughout my childhood, I avoided going to the dentist like the plague! Needless to say, at 45 years old, my teeth were ruined! I knew that I would have to have a complete :makeover” so I did a lot of research. I saw the reviews and made an appointment with the Smile Center in VB. Every single employee, from the receptionist to the dentist was very compassionate and accommodating. Having to go through what I needed is embarrassing enough but none of them made me feel guilty or ashamed! Dr. Parr is so gentle and he will do whatever is needed to ensure you feel no pain! I am very difficult to numb so I was afraid to have the oral surgery (mine was very extensive) because other dentists wouldn’t believe me when I told them that I could still feel it and it hurt. But, Dr. Parr really listened! The hygienists (I have seen 3 now) were so friendly and treated me like they had known me forever. I even got a flower each time I left their office! I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and I have called them for adjustments and questions, ect. numerous times and they are never irritated and get me in that day! I have never had to wait and even the hygienists that only saw me for a few minutes make it a point to say “hi” to me and call me by name! Their prices are high but I think they are the “norm”. But, regardless…it was worth every penny to have such a wonderful experience at a dentist! I never thought I would put the words “dentist” and “wonderful” in the same sentence but I promise, anyone who goes here will be as thrilled with their visit as I was! Everyone who works at The Smile Center should be very proud of themselves – they are all a “cut above” and truly seem to love their job and their patients!

I have been going to The Smile Center for the past five years. When I first started going to them I found them through my insurance. After I did not have it any more I signed up for their Smiles for Life program. This offers two cleanings a year and x-rays. It was the perfect program for me because I have not needed to get any procedures done. I pay for a year ahead of time and get a month free.Throughout the time I have been going to The Smile Center Sharetta has cleaned my teeth. She is the type of person that lights up a room when she walks in. I especially love how she always remembers the things going on in my life. Doctor Parr is my Orthodontist, and is just as pleasant. Anyone that you meet in that office is willing and able to help you have a pleasant visit. They have warm drinks like coffee and tea, candy, and flowers for their customers to take, as well. I always look forward to The Smile Center experience when I get my teeth cleaning. <3

This place is outstanding! it’s like going to a family member’s house to get your teeth checked. Everyone is so warm and welcoming. I have seen both dentists for a checkup. The only difference is gender. I’ve been going to this practice for a little over six years. I used to commute from Northern Virginia when I was working as contractor. I equate my experience to a visit to Chick-fil-A. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. I would not change a thing!
