Uptown Family Dental deserves this 5 star review! This practice is so clean, friendly, and accommodating to every individuals wants/needs. It’s located right off 23rd and Flanders. There is parking located in the front of the business and down below in the parking garage. Which makes it very convenient so you shouldn’t have to worry about parking in Portland. Great retail products! And most importantly friendly staff. Cant wait to get my teeth cleaned again soon Reatha!

Dr. Wiley and his staff are absolutely the most competent, professional and personable staff I can imagine. My whole family (husband, two children ages 8 and 10 and myself) visits Dr. Dave. He is ALWAYS on time, if not early. He is extraordinarily kind, calm and honest. He is FANTASTIC with kids!! They trust him implicitly and look forward to seeing him. He always takes time to educate his patients, young and old, and you NEVER feel rushed or pressured. We really couldn’t ask for a better dentist and will recommend him to anyone who asks!!

I have been to more than a dozen dentists in my lifetime and they have run the gamut from terrible to very good, but I have finally found one I would rate as excellent. David Wiley is a caring, skillful and conscientious dentist who does not pressure his patients to get unnecessary work done. Recently I was at his office for a three hour complicated appointment and he actually called me the next day to see how I was doing. Not his dental assistant or front desk staff, but himself. That is a first for me in all of my dental experiences. I usually travel two hours to see him, but I wouldn’t consider changing to anyone else. His entire staff is competent and pleasant. They all seem to have better communication skills than most people. Honestly, how many dental patients can say that they actually felt relaxed during their procedures?

As one who loathes going to the dentist, I can’t believe I’m writing a review about one.. However, I’m so impressed with the office of Drs Wiley and Parker, that I have to take this opportunity to tell others about it. The staff are competent, courteous and very welcoming. Drs Parker and Wiley are both highly competent, and also very concerned about making their patients’ dental experience as pain free as they can, and in my experience, do exceptionally well on that count. I just went to Dr. Wiley again as I have done for the last 15 years and I thought it was time for me to thank him publicly. Dave as well as his wonderful staff make the experience of going to the dentist not so bad. Dave is always professional, calm, kind and thorough. You know what he is doing every step of the way. He explains everything so there are no surprises and he does it with such a mellow voice that you aren’t even terrified of what is next. Dr. Wiley’s staff is always on time and the office is impeccable. They only recommend work that is necessary and are very clear about the costs. No ugly surprises. I highly recommend this practice. I guess after 15 years of service to my family as well…that is a pretty good indication of how wonderful Dr. Wiley is!

Throughout my life I’ve been terrified of going to the dentist — a fear that actually led to some otherwise unnecessary dental interventions over the years. Thanks to Dr. Wiley I don’t dread those visits anymore. He’s the best, most relaxed and supportive doctor I’ve ever had. Dr. Wiley and his staff are AMAZING! I know it’s crazy to some people but I look forward to going to this Dentist. The entire staff is professional, caring and provides outstanding service. I’ve been seeing Dr. Wiley since he started his practice and Vonda the “Great” has been our family hygienist for lets just say a very, VERY long time. In fact we consider Vonda apart of our family! At one point I had issues with insurance not wanting to cover a procedure and Vonda took the time to personally reach out to them and explain that it was necessary and required treatment. My periodontal treatments have been covered ever since. I appreciate how she treats each patient as an individual. On top of all that she has the best sense of humor and makes visiting the office FUN! We have family members that drive up from Dallas, OR just to see Vonda and Dr. Wiley. I would highly encourage anyone who is in in the market for a new Dentist to go see Dr. Wiley and his team first. You will not regret it.

I have had Dr. Wiley as a dentist, and Vonda Persijn as a hygienist, since I had teeth! I can honestly say I love going to the dentist so much, I’ve literally considered knocking a few teeth out just so I could have an excuse to go 😉 If you hate going to the dentist, I suggest switching to Dr. Wiley’s office because you will always have a glorious time with the amazing staff (and your teeth will look fabulous, too). This dentistry is one of the best by far. I moved to Portland and Uptown Family Dental seemed to be the closest one to me, so I made an appointment. Well, I cancelled the first appointment the day of and arrived to the rescheduled appointment without all of the information I needed, but Dr. Wiley and his team went out of their way to accommodate me, despite the headache I’d caused them. I returned to have some cavities filled and, having a fear of drills and needles, was very nervous. The hygienist gave me an iPod and headphones to wear for the appointment, and blasting classical music while having my fillings done was one of the best remedies for my anxiety. The fillings were done before I knew it and I was on my way. I’ll be sticking with this practice as long as I live in Portland.

I can see that Doctors Wiley and Parker at Uptown Family Dentistry don’t need another five star review but they’re going to get one from me anyway. It’s no wonder that Portland Magazine listed Dr. Wiley among Portland’s best dentists again this year. I have been a patient of his for a number of years and several medical specialists I see also have him as their family dentist. I appreciate his friendly, calm demeanor and his professionalism. The staff is equally pleasant and accommodating. When a dental procedure is needed it is always explained in detail and the alternatives are described as well. I also like that they always seem to run on time, not exactly a hallmark of medical care. One other thing I enjoy is that they often surprise me with new technology, showing me that dentistry is always changing. Want a dentist? Look no further.

I’ve been going to Dr. Wiley for more than 10 years. Maybe that says it all, but I’ll keep going. He is friendly, sensitive to any fears or pain you may have, and extremely skilled with the needle and drill. I can’t remember ever experiencing pain from any procedures he’s done on my teeth. The equipment is modern. The office is groovy. If you’re having a long procedure, you can watch a movie with their movie goggles. The hygienists are very good, and VERY KID FRIENDLY. (Any kid who’s afraid of the dentist will love Vonda. She’s a goofball but gets the job done.) His whole staff is personable yet professional, and a few have been with him for as long as he’s been my dentist. That says a lot about him as an employer. The office is just off NW 23rd (on Flanders), but it has a parking lot, which helps in that neighborhood. If you’re looking for a new dentist, you can’t go wrong with Dr. Wiley.

Seriously? I’m giving a freaking DENTIST a five star review? If you are like me you are asking yourself that question right about now. It’s true, though. I really am. Okay, first of all? I am terrified of the dentist. I don’t know why, I really don’t. I do have some kinda scary memories from childhood that occurred at the dental office but I’m not sure that is really enough to warrant this level of apprehension. My trick over the last ten years has been to swallow a valium the night before (( to help me sleep )) and one on the morning of my appointment. (( To drown the fear. )) It works okay and it’s a nice tradition. Doctor Wiley, though? None of that. He (( and, mysteriously, the rest of his staff )) missed his calling working at the crisis line. He is sedative enough: calm, patient, and gentle and caring. He communicates well with everyone on his staff, explains EXACTLY what is happening all the time and really, really listens. Also? He’s VERY good looking. At one point during my last visit I actually started to feel suspicious because I really felt cared for. (( Which, maybe, just exposes some of my own personal insecurities and neurosis….but whatever. )) How often does that happen in any kind of medical environment? Of all of the (( admittedly few )) reviews that I’ve shared on this site I really hope this one reaches someone. Someone who, like me, has dental fear, who values clear communication from a medical professional, and who wants to have a positive experience with their dentist. Go see the man, you’ll be glad that you did.
