Choosing a health professional is difficult. Here in Northern Virginia I’ve found a formula that seems to work. First, I check Washingtonian and Northern Virginia magazines “Best Of” issues to get a short list of recommended professionals in, or near, my zip code. Then I start surfing the usual review sites on line. The reviews are very important to me and I hope this review points folks in the right direction. The first visit to a new medical professional is always, in some ways, an interview. Sure, I needed work done at Vienna Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, but, having recently moved to the area I really wanted to secure a new dentist. A professional I could trust to be part of my medical team. Seeing as this is all happening during a worldwide pandemic I was hoping this first visit would provide confidence in the skills and professionalism of the practice. My first impressions were great and came from the care and compassion demonstrated throughout the very first phone call. My information was all gathered in a professional but personal manner. I immediately felt that my well being was the focus of the practice. Covid-19 protocols were discussed and I could tell that safety is a priority. We then discussed a couple options for appointments and soon an appointment was secured. On arriving at the office I called from the car. I was given the all clear and went into an empty waiting room, had my temperature taken and answered a few questions. I was immediately escorted to the chair. All staff were covered in PPE but behind the masks and shields I could tell everyone was pleased to be helping me. My temporary filling was replaced in short order and I was sent on my way. All payment was taken care of via phone. Not once did I feel over exposed or unsafe. With that great first experience I set up an appointment for a standard cleaning and examination. Due to Covid, appointments are in flux but I was able to get in and get a check up. Again I was thoroughly impressed by the professionalism of Dr. Maharaja and of her entire team. I’ve had a third appointment with Vienna Cosmetic and Family Dentistry and am still fully wowed by their excellent communication skills regarding appointments, procedures, patient safety. I had to reach out via email for additional information and received a quick return phone call, after hours, to answer my concerns. That is top notch customer service! I fully recommend Dr. Maharaja and her excellent staff. I’ll trust my dental health to Vienna Cosmetic and Family Dentistry for many, many years to come. It is a practice that will keep you smiling.

My family has been going to Vienna Cosmetic and Family Dentistry since the 1980s. Dr. Maharaja and her team have maintained the tradition of exceptional service. They are not only state of the art in best practices but more importantly listen and work with you. I recommend them highly.

I was always afraid of the dentist due to childhood trauma. Having random tooth pain for several years was too much to bear so I made a courageous decision and decided to see the dentist. That was when I met Dr. Maharaja, who changed my view of dentistry. She would take her time and explain what is going on in your mouth and leave no questions unanswered. At first I was scared having any work done due to the idea of being in extreme pain while being worked on, but I was surprised by what gentle hands she has. I did not even feel the needle as I was getting numbed for restorative work. After being made sure I was comfortable enough to be worked on, I can say, the work was done in a flash. Nothing was felt. No pain nor discomfort. I can say for sure that she cares about her patients and not treat you like you’re just another patient of the office. I would highly recommend Dr. Maharaja to anyone looking for a professional, knowledgeable, and caring dentist.

Dr. Maharaja is a great dentist – gentle hands, very knowledgable, and makes you feel very comfortable through the entire experience. I usually get really nervous at the dentist but she definitely made me feel at ease. Her staff is very friendly and the wait time is very minimal. I went in for a cleaning and didn’t have to sit around forever. The office is very clean and has the latest equipment.

This practice is amazing!!! Professional, caring, efficient, organized. They have incredible organization, expertise, and care. I used to hate going to the dentist, but I absolutely enjoy seeing them. They are gentle, experienced, effective, and incredibly hard working. Every member of their staff is top rate. They also have the best COVID precautions and safety measures. As a physician, I recognize and value experience, kindness, genuine care and skill. I have my entire family going to them and would recommend this practice to anybody!!!! Thanks for your outstanding and hard work!!!!

I recently moved to Washington DC and after going to 5 different dentists I finally decided to try out this one. I saw the positive reviews and decided to give it a try. Best decision ever! Dr. Maharaja and her team were extremely attentive to my needs. Dr. M did a full exam and it was far more comprehensive than anything I’ve had before. She walked me through exactly what was going on and shared X-ray copies with me and broke everything down to me – down to the smallest detail of where I have natural grooves and ridges in my teeth. I’ll definitely be making Dr. Maharaja my permanent dentist!

I recently moved to the Vienna area and was looking for a dentist. As with most people, I’m not the biggest fan of going to the dentist. When I first stepped into the office, I was greeted by the receptionist, who was very friendly. Dr M. took care of me. She was very knowledgable, kept me informed throughout the procedure, and most importantly made me feel comfortable. I would definitely go there again and would recommend Dr. M to others.

If I could give this office 10 stars I would. I was one of those people that had a horrible experience with a dentist in adolescence and subsequently avoided seeing one…for 12 years! When I finally mustered the courage to see a dentist again, I was so nervous. Dr. Shivani Maharaja and the entire staff at Vienna Cosmetic & Family Dentistry were warm, and welcoming and they made me feel comfortable right from my initial phone conversation, through all the remedial work that needed to be done on my teeth. They make me feel cared for rather than judged, and they are incredibly reliable when it comes to punctuality. The office has taken many post pandemic precautions to keep everyone safe. Even in the midst of this uncertain time, I felt reassured while in the hygienist’s chair. If you’re looking for a dentist in the Northern Virginia region, this is the best you’ll find. Highly highly recommended!

Honestly best dental practice I have ever been to, and I have lived up and down the east coast. From the moment you arrive (or call) Vishal is unbelievably professional and so accommodating and understanding. From the hygenist Olga to all the staff (and obviously Dr. Maharaja), I am utterly impressed by the professionalism, compassionate care, and knowledge base. This is a very good practice that I found on Yelp. My hygienist Hannah was very professional, explained every detail and also was super quick! Dr. Maharaja has a very good practice, and stuff is great. Michelle is very quick in responses via email communication. I would definitely recommend this practice if you live/work nearby.

I visited the office again today and now have been a patient or over 6 years. My appreciation for the entire practice continues to grow. First the staff: Christi , Eve and Michelle are all very professional and have very high levels of skill in their positons. Dr. Majaraji enjoys an execellent reputation from her peers in the practice of Dentistry. This could not be more evident than my recent need for emergency dental surgery that was made possible by Dr. Majaragi through her direct intervention on my behalf. I have been a regular client for nearly 40 years. The dentists, from Dr. Weinkam to Dr. Park to now Dr. Maharaja, have all been excellent, as have the dental staff. I am a real baby when it comes to seeing the dentist, but I’m always put at ease before any procedure starts and if I start to feel anxious during a procedure, things stop so I can take a breath before starting again. After meeting Dr. Maharaja, I knew I was in good hands.

Dr. Maharaja and the staff at VCF Dentistry are exceptional. They are pleasant and professional and genuinely care about our family. I have been a patient of this office for a few years and have always had a pleasant experience. All too often in healthcare the experience between patient and doctor is rushed. Dr M takes the time to explain and answer my questions so I’m able to make educated decisions. Highly recommend the office.

I came in as a new patient to Dr. Maharaja’s office. I hadn’t had a chance to fill out my paperwork ahead so Genevieve handed me the laptop to fill it out. I didn’t have to wait and was immediately escorted to the back of the office where they took X-Rays of the entire skull by Dr. Lee. She asked me to remove my earring and after the X Ray she wiped them clean before handing them back to me. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they cared even about the little things. Later in the office specific X-rays were taken. Dr. Maharaja came in as soon as those were done and explained everything very clearly. They have huge monitored where they pull large X rays up so I didn’t have to strain my neck and was clearly able to understand what was seen. We even spotted my right septum being crooked! That helped explain why I wake up at night with a blocked nose!! I was recommended a deep cleaning however we were doing a regular clean that visit. After looking at my teeth, I was taken for a cleaning with Susan. She was so kind. She made me feel extremely comfortable. She said it was okay to raise my hand if I wanted her to stop for ANY reason. I did not feel rushed at all and she answered all my questions. I left with a toothbrush, tooth paste, floss and the widest smile on my face. Dr. M sent me a card with a hand written note on how I was doing with her personal cell number within 4 days of the visit!! There was no pressure at all to reschedule and when I called to I was quickly squeezed in the next day. Genevieve also informed that I should eat before the treatment in case I am sore after keeping my jaw open for a long time, so I ate before the appointment. This time I was promptly taken to Susan who started the anesthesia and began scaling. I consider myself to be very sensitive to pain and was a little nervous. I had a few calculus but she did not let me feel a thing. After the anasthesia wore off at home, I felt very normal and comfortable I was immediately able to eat and drink everything. Later that evening Susan called to check up on how I was doing. I am actually looking forward to deep cleaning the other side after the weekend.

Dr. Maharaja and now VCFD have become my office of choice after handling an incredibly painful situation last Thanksgiving holiday. I called the emergency office line on Friday after Thanksgiving with severe tooth pain. Dr. Maharaja picked up the phone and talked me through my symptoms. Her professional and caring demeanor calmed me down after an incredibly painful few hours. Rather than wait until Monday, she came in on her day off with her husband to perform the surgery. I’m ever so grateful for having her take the time to care for me that day!

I’m rare in that I enjoy going to the dentist, and this office is no exception. Kind and friendly staff that are thorough in dental cleaning and offering suggestions and answering questions. Dr. Maharaja fixed a broken filling with no issues. I would definitely recommend this office.
