Dr. Tom saves the day on Christmas Eve! My young son suffered an injury when he fell riding a scooter on Christmas Eve yesterday. He knocked out 1 of his (adult) front teeth. It was horrific. We immediately fled to the local ER and it was clear they couldn’t do much for the dental aspect of his injuries…. we called Dr. Tom’s office, which was closed as it was almost 5pm on Christmas Eve, but the recording provides her cell number for emergencies. She answered and told us how to have the hospital preserve the tooth (it came out root & all) — then she told us to meet her in her office. She literally opened her office for us and brought help to deal with our traumatic event! It was so amazing under such terrible circumstances and Dr. Tom went out of her way to get our 8 year old taken care of. We were all so distraught and probably did not thank her nearly enough!! We have only been seeing Dr. Tom for a little under a year and we are beyond grateful that she took care of us in an emergency and on a holiday. She is definitely a great dentist and an awesome human being! My son was so relieved and Dr. Tom was amazingly gentle. We cannot say enough kind things or sing her praises nearly enough

I’ve been going to Dr. Tom for years now I absolutely love her! She is gentle, through, and very well educated. She’s whenever she’s done a procedure on me like filling a cavity I have never felt a bit of pain. Her staff is wonderful and polite, and even if they schedule an appointment a year from the day they’ll send you a postcard weeks early so you remember. Even with so many patients she always asks me about my life, how i’m doing in college, pets, etc.She is definitely the best dentist in the Burbank, Glendale, North Hollywood area if not the best dentist in the San Fernando Valley.

I love Dr. Tom and her entire staff is wonderful. From the front desk to the dental chair it has always been a pleasant experience. I recently cracked and broke a tooth and they were able to fit me in quickly. Her professionalism and kindness are always something I can count on. I live over an hour away and would not consider sitting in any other dentist chair. My children and grandchildren are all patients as well. Thanks to Dr. Tom and her amazing bonding techniques, the entire family has beautiful smiles.

Been coming here for a few years now. Always enjoyed the staff they are very nice. Dr Tom is great and friendly! Brought my husband here now. They don’t accept HMO’s though, I had a change of insurance and for a year I refused to go anywhere else and once I got my PPO back I came back here immediately! They always give you a little goodie bag with a new toothbrush and travel toothpaste. Thanks!

Dr. Tom and her office are very friendly, making me feel as “at home” as is possible in a dental office. She stands behind her work. She even went back and re-did a very tricky filling when it cracked through no fault of her own, at her own expense. Having children of her own, she’s a family dentist and I enjoy seeing patients of all age groups at the office. Unlike some of my past dentists, Dr. Tom does not look for the most expensive solutions to my issues. On the contrary, she recommends cost-effective alternatives. After years and years of crappy and/or lame dentists a friend recommended that I give Dr. Tom a try… I am so glad that I did! First of all the office is super clean, very cozy, and has modern technologies. The staff is efficient and nice. Dr. Tom is very relaxed, friendly, and gentle. Most importantly she is honest! She will not recommend pointless procedures or try to trick you into purchasing do-dadds and thingamabobs you don’t need. She also has very reasonable fees. Going to the dentist is not fun, going to Dr. Tom’s does not make it fun, but at least I will be comfortable and I do not have to worry about getting ripped off! I highly recommend this place for your dentistry needs!

I went to Dr. Tom for a second opinion. During a recent check up with my normal dentist the hygienist said I had a fractured tooth. When my dentist arrived, he dismissed it and I never really got a satisfactory answer as to whether or not I had a tooth fracture. Dr. Tom came highly recommend from a friend so I went to see her. Wow. First of all, the staff is very friendly and the office is very clean. Dr. Tom looked at my tooth and had a look around. I explained everything that my dentist had said and she took the time to walk me through why he would do everything the way he did, discussing various options. She went out of her way to let me know that my dentist was taking good care of me. Since I was there and she was so helpful, I asked her a few more questions about my gums and general dental health. I was impressed with her encyclopedic knowledge of dental history and current treatment methods. It’s obvious she loves helping people. After I said my goodbyes and left, it occurred to me that she never once said anything bad about my dentist or made any attempt to convince me to become her patient. To me, this is the mark of a truly honest and exemplary professional. Where some people would’ve used this second opinion exam as a prolonged sales opportunity, she used the time to make me feel better. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Tom and I would recommend her to anyone, even people who are scared of the dentist. She has a way of making you feel like you’re in good hands, because you are.

2008 – I had just moved back to LA after living in Montana for 11 years. I had a tooth that needed help and “needed it quick”. I didn’t have a dentist so I went back to my old dentist’s office to find that he had retired. But on the door were the names of two new dentists. I didn’t know either. So at that point it was a coin toss. Heads – Dr. Tom and as fate would have it, I couldn’t have found a more kind, gentle, patient, compassionate and professional dentist than Dr. Tom….and pretty too! Unfortunately I have always had thin enamel and my teeth are not straight which has created challenges and have needed frequent care. And at times, a lot of care! So we set about developing a treatment plan. Although I was not very happy about some of the plan, Dr. Tom has always been patient with me. She has always listened to my thoughts and concerns and no matter the challenges, has always presented me with options. In times of doubt, she has always been reassuring. Dr. Tom has always called me the day after extractions or challenging visits to see how I’m doing. And on occasion has even given me her personal phone number “in case of emergency”. I think it goes without saying “Dr. Vivian Tom is the BEST”. Her staff is friendly and helpful. Her equipment is sterile, modern and up to date as are her processes and procedures. In this time of corporate medicine, it is very refreshing to find a dentist so committed to her patients and practice as Dr. Vivian Tom. No question – if you’re looking for a dentist Dr. Vivian Tom is “Numero Uno”….Oops! Her rates are great too!

MAKE DR. TOM YOUR DENTIST RIGHT NOW!!!! I LOVE HER!!! (In the appropriate way!) What can I say…I had some lousy preventative care done on a cracked tooth by someone else that charged a fortune…I have been in pain for about 6 months with no help from the other dentist after numerous visits to get the crown right. I said I think I should have someone else take a look to which this guy canceled my and my daughter’s future cleanings (the following week)… by LETTER. After 5 years of going there and being fine with the service (primary from hygienists) this is what I got…Nowhere to go, no cleanings especially for my kid who was 2 weeks away from getting ortho expansion and had to have a cleaning, I started looking around. I saw Dr. Tom on here and she was close to home so I’ll give her a shot.Teresa the receptionist and scheduling wizard got us in right away. We showed up on time, were seen on time, my kid got her cleaning and was all set but my jaw was in so much pain I could barely open my mouth to have Dr. T…errific get a good look. She sent me home to wear a night guard just to help my jaw rest and had me scheduled to come back in 2 weeks for my cleaning and a look at the crown.I went back yesterday 6/22/15, got the cleaning, and told Doc T my whole mouth felt off and I felt like I was going mad. She told me everything I was experiencing could be from the crown, she decided to get in there and do some filing on it. She was about to polish and send me home to try it out for a week when she said don’t move I see something…With two swipes of the drill and healthy polish I have my bite back. Last night was the first night I slept well in months. I truly can’t thank her enough for what she did for me. She and her staff are calm and gentle. They do not try to rush you but fix the issue or just take care of you. In a weird way I am glad I had a horrible experience with the other dentist so I know now what it means to have a good dentist! I look forward to taking my daughter and myself to Dr. Tom for years. I hope this review helps you!

Dr Tom and the staff were patient, caring and accommodating. I had my teeth bleached right after the Holidays and my smile has never looked better. Dr Tom thoroughly set my expectations of the time it would take for the session, the sensitivity Id experience and the results Id get. Dr. Tom is the best! She is absolutely wonderful! She’s very gentle, while being extremely through. She explains everything going on with you so you understand it, talks about what foods you should eat or not eat depending on any problems you may have. Had such a great experience with Dr. Tom and her staff. I’m a freelancer and must admit that I put off things like going to the dentist – I know I know! Not good! So when one of my clients recommended Dr. Tom I finally made an appointment and I’m glad I did. The office was lovely, her office staff was great – Terese, Nancy, Anna, Ida were all friendly, efficient and helpful. And Dr. Tom was very relaxed and put my mind at ease about some concerns I had about not being at the dentist for a while. She addressed all my concerns one at a time and didn’t think any of my requests were odd. I went for a second appointment a week later to repair a chipped tooth that I had been suffering with for too long and I got my teeth cleaned and the tooth repaired in a little over an hour. Providing excellent dental care tailored to your needs! Our goal is to provide excellent dental care tailored to your needs. We treat our patients like family and value our relationships. We take pride in making sure that as a patient, you are comfortable and that your questions are answered. Dr. Tom and our experienced staff are here to make sure you have a pleasant experience at our office. We have digital x rays - which are about 60% less exposure than traditional film x rays. Dr. Tom loves the Burbank community where she lives and works. She is raising 3 children with her husband and enjoys volunteering in many school and community related organizations. Dr. Tom received both her B.S. in Kinesiology (1987) and her D.D.S. degree (1991) from UCLA. She had one additional year of training at a General Practice Residency in dentistry at the VA Loma Linda Hospital. She has been in private practice dentistry since 1992 and in this office since 2003. She is a member in good standing of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association and San Fernando Valley Dental Society. I wanted to be a dentist since I was 11 years old. I was fascinated with all the instruments he used and the work he was doing. I enjoy the science and artistry involved in dentistry but above all, I love getting to know my patients. Because I am well acquainted with my patients, I feel that I can provide the best care that fits their needs.
