Last night I had to find a dentist in the West Village/Greenwich Village area for an emergency filling for my tooth. I called four different offices and none of them could fit me in until Monday and charging fees from $250 to $1000 to get the filling fixed. I called Dr Roytherg after hours – he called me straight back at 830pm and saw me first thing this morning at 930am and for my appointment, X-ray and new filling charged me $225. He was fast, professional, honest and practical and I didn’t pay for anything I didn’t need. I had to pay out of pocket as I am traveling in New York. The staff were so friendly and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Honestly just the most wonderful and pleasant staff. Dr. Roytberg is friendly, thorough, and incredibly approachable. As a rather anxious patient he always makes me feel at ease. I’ve called in for two emergencies and he’s been more than accommodating in scheduling and alleviating the problem. Yes, pricey, but I’d pay a million dollars not to be in white-hot blinding pain. What’s not to love? Great location (steps from W4th), great office, nice people, and a rock-star tooth cleaning. Don’t be afraid of this dentist. Dr. Roman is the BEST! I used to go to him a few years ago, but had to change dentists when I moved and also changed my job, where my insurance wasn’t accepted by his practice. As soon as I changed jobs again, I saw that my new insurance was accepted by him and I made an appointment to go back to him immediately. He remembered me and is such a kind person. I found Dr. Roytberg through a Groupon four years ago and was a little skeptical, but as I only needed a cleaning and I didn’t have dental insurance at the time, I thought I’d give it a try – and I’m glad I did. I’ve been to many dental offices throughout my life, most of them being either: 1. “Teeth-cleaning-factories” – usually fast, inexpensive and impersonal, with rotating hygienists and dentists who you never see twice and never get to know them; and sometimes in the interest of getting you in and out as fast as possible, they injure your gums during cleaning or splash water all over your face or the dentist misdiagnoses you. 2. High-End Dental Office – where the office space is very high end, where there’s only one or two dentists, where it’s very personal and the dentists are good along with the hygienists; however, it takes you months just to get in to see them, and if there’s an emergency you’re out of luck and where they cost 2-3x the cost of other dentists and most don’t take insurance. Dr. Roytberg’s office takes the best qualities from both types of offices. With Dr. Roytberg, you’ll get high quality, personal service, where you see the same hygenist and dentist every time, all at a low, reasonable price, primarily because his office space is small and minimal, and not in some fancy high rise building. Everything is professional and the space and equipment are clean and the location in the west village is convenient, at least for me. Don’t be dissuaded by the small space, he’s the real deal. A few examples of how good Dr. Roytberg is…I’ve asked him before about whitening my teeth and he said they were already as white as I could get them, also asked about repairing a very small chip in one of my teeth and he recommended that I leave it and not cosmetically shave it down as it would be expensive and could cause problems later – imagine that, a dentist not trying to ‘sell me’ services I don’t need. Another time, I had a pain in my right lower molars, so he fit me in his schedule the next day, took x-rays, and determined I was grinding my teeth, so he shaved down a small protrusion in one of my molars…and didn’t even charge me for that as it was a small procedure in his opinion…and then recommended I buy a bite guard at a drugstore like Duane Reade or CVS – once again, not trying to sell me on a multi-hundred dollar bite guard he would make. Talk about upfront, honest, considerate and professional – he’s like a dentist from the 1950’s – pretty cool to see they still exist. I highly recommend him and will remain a patient as long as he’s in practice.

I chipped my tooth late at night and immediately started calling emergency dentist in my area, and Dr. Roytberg was one of the first to return my call (which was 12:30am by the way) and quoted me a much less price than other emergency dentist. Basically, we scheduled my appointment at 12:30am for 8:00am that morning. I thought that really awesome he agreed to see so soon. Additionally, he stuck to the price and didn’t try to add on any extra fees. Bottom line, he did a great job at a good price and is someone you can trust.

A WORD FROM YOUR DOCTOR
Dr. Roytberg is a native of Seattle, Washington and received his undergraduate and graduate training at the University of Washington Dental School. Upon graduating, Dr. Roytberg opened a very successful private practice in Kent, Washington. After building up the practice and transferring it to his partner, Dr. Roytberg took a sabbatical and moved to London, England to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. While attending their prestigious acting program, the head of the school recommended him to New York City's most prestigious acting studios, Michael Howard Studios. Dr Roytberg completed the One-Year Conservatory Program and now works as a professional actor. Not only is he a doctor in real life-- he also plays one on TV!
