In late June 2013, I saw Dr. Weissman about a sleep apnea solution other than a CPAP. Her discussion with me about dental issues prompted me to return to have a crown and fillings done. While I have had a lot of dental work done over the years, I have never met anyone who was as passionate about dental health as Dr. Weissman and her assistant. These caring people are on a mission to educate their patients on good dental practices. Also, Dr. Weissman used this little mouth camera to show me problems around my old crown. (Although I’d had my teeth cleaned the month before at the office of my previous dentist, this problem had not been shown to me.) In brief, I very impressed! To give credit where it’s due, let me add that the staff is very nice and very professional.

I’ve been going to Sheryl for years. She’s seen me through a lot of work on my teeth, maintenance, a couple of crowns, and even a root canal. For the latter she referred me to a good doctor in the same building. She’s always cheerful, helpful, encouraging … but doesn’t pull punches when you need a kick in the pants about maintaining your teeth. As far as I can tell, her rates are reasonable and competitive, although honestly I didn’t do much shopping around. While most dentists who have cared for my teeth in the past had almost a prerecorded message to repeat after a cleaning, Weissman and staff made sure I understood how correct brushing and flossing techniques are absolutely critical to gum health. The hygienists have a sixth sense that allows them to complete extremely deep cleanings with barely any pain- something I did not expect. Am very impressed with everyone in this office. I am starting some treatment and am really happy with the evaluation and conscientiousness of Dr. Weissman and the assistant, receptionist and dental assistant. Dr. Weissman even called me at night to see how I was feeling after the first treatment visit. I did buy the toothbrush that was pricey and really love the results I am getting. I am impressed that this office even takes my medicaire dental insurance. I have a copay but it seems reasonable. Some dentists won’t even treat you with this insurance. I did need a root canal and was able to get it done the next morning with Dr. Edwards in the same building and I was very impressed with his pain free approach.

Dr. Weissman has been my dentist for 5 years now. Early on she did a beautiful job getting me caught up on some much-needed dental work after years of not having adequate dental insurance. One time I was having a TMJ emergency and she helped get me in right away w/ a TMJ specialist colleague of hers, which was a huge relief (and partly a benefit of being housed in a building w/ many dental professionals). By this point she’s even “converted” me to flossing and other practices (electric toothbrush etc.) that have kept the cavities at bay! I was referred to Dr. Weissman’s office by my health insurance provider, Health Share Oregon. My first appointment was scheduled within reasonable time and Dr. Weissman’s office staff was incredible in their assistance in fighting MODA health insurance after they’d preapproved my services and subsequently denied all services including those that had already been completed. Kudos to Amy! 🙂 My particular provider is Dr. Wasserman and his sense of humor and professionalism is without compare. At my second appointment he even gave me the choice of musical selection that I would prefer to hear while he was drilling! 😛 (which happened to be Peter, Paul and Mary!) I found Weissman Dental through Google Reviews and I can honestly say, I was not disappointed. Originally I thought two hours for my first appointment there was long but they spent the time going over my records, taking notes on what they saw on each tooth, and then sat there and explained what they were seeing, the causes, and what I could do to repair or slow the damage. And as weird as this sounds, they showed me how to properly floss and brush, something I felt I knew enough about having done it all my life. After graduation, Dr. Weissman maintained a private practice in the upper west side of Manhattan and was an assistant professor at NYUCD before moving to Oregon in 1987. Before attending dental school, she earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. Dr. Weissman has been practicing dentistry for over 25 years and loves being in her current downtown Portland location since June of 1988. Dr. Weissman actively keeps up to date with her continuing education ensuring that her patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care. Dr. Weissman is also a member of many dental organizations including; the American Dental Association, the Multnomah Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, The Sunset Study Club, The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and Alpha Omega. Her most recent career achievement is earning a Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry. Achieving Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry has been an area of immense pride for Dr. Weissman as this is the culmination of years of intense study in a variety of dental specialties and one of the few added distinctions a general dentist can attain. It is a rigorous program which only 7% of AGD member dentists have accomplished. Dentists that have achieved Fellowship with the AGD are dedicated to continuing education. Dr. Weissman cares about your long-term dental health, and stays up-to-date on the latest procedures and is better able to offer you and your family a variety of diagnosis and treatment choices. Dr. Weissman is also very involved in her community. She is or has been a board member of Circle of Life, the Jewish Federation of Portland, The Maimonides Group, and is a charter member of Portlandia and supporter of the Voices Lecture Series.
