On my first time back in Dr. Vu’s office since COVID-19, I felt like she created an extremely safe environment.  I shouldn’t have been surprised, as she detailed exactly what she was doing to comply with CDC guidelines in her emails to patients.  It seemed like it took a little longer, since they couldn’t use the water scaler, but Karen did an awesome job removing plaque the old-fashioned way!  I’ll be happy to return for my next appointment during this pandemic or even a future one…

Dr Vu and her amazing team at the Wellness Dental Clinic is the best dental team I have ever been too. They had quite a long treatment plan with me yet we powered through all of it in a few months and now I feel so much better physically and psychologically knowing I don’t have to worry about my teeth anymore. They do everything they can to work out your payments into manageable monthly charges to my credit card and they run a smooth and tight operation. As an ex registered nurse I am a fan for life and when I give a review it means something special happened and I want others to benefit as well.

Dr. Vu is wonderful. She took more time with me than any other dentist has in years..since I was a child. She cleaned my teeth personally, and it clear that she loves her job. The rest of the staff is also great. The Office Coordinator Tonya went over my Dental Benefits with me so I knew what I would be paying beforehand, and Dental Assistant Sarah was personable and friendly. I definitely recommend!

I have been a patient of Dr. Vu for over a year, and without a doubt in my mind, she’s the best dentist I’ve ever had. I had many dental issues which she has solved for me through a range of therapies all of which have been successful. She explained everything she wanted to do in a clear and professional manner, and answered all of my questions before any work commenced. I also researched the cost of the work for myself, and found her charges to be completely in line with industry standards for the area. In short, I feel that I’ve gotten excellent value. Her staff are very professional and friendly including the front desk, hygienist, and technical assistants. I’m completely satisfied with Wellness Dental, and recommend them highly to anyone.

The staff at wellness dental are friendly and welcoming. Same goes for the dental hygienists. They try to get to know you as a person and take the time to talk you through the X-rays and photos they’ll be taking. Dr Vu is fantastic. She is incredibly patient, kind, and empathetic. She took the time to help me understand exactly why and how your parts of your hygiene creates cavities as well as focusing on effective preventative care. We worked out a treatment plan that addressed all of my concerns and answered all of my questions. Excellent and highly professional experience and without the eye gouging price tag. Highly recommend! 🙂

This was really an amazing experience. I am a woman in my twenties with EXTREME dental anxiety. I hadn’t been to a dentist in probably about ten years and was not interested in going if I could help it. I chipped a tooth and it revealed a large cavity, so I reluctantly went to see a dentist in CA who suggested that it may require a filling or a root canal–both were equally likely. However, I was moving to Portland that weekend so that practice recommended Wellness Dental. Chatting with the Tonya in the office was easy and they worked everything out regarding insurance for me (mostly via text which worked well for me during the move). They scheduled an appointment for me in two weeks, and offered to put me on their “emergency” list, understanding that the large chipped portion of my tooth was painful and my most recent short visit to the dentist was causing a lot of anxiety. It was comforting that they understood that my anxiety about getting this taken care of made it urgent and worthy of being on the “emergency” list. They called me with an appointment 5 days sooner than my original and left time for a procedure in case I wanted the filling to be placed that day. The practice assured me over the phone that, during that appointment, they would place a filling if that was the path that was right for my teeth, and, if not, would place a temporary filling to then have a root canal later in order to minimize the number of times I would be in the office. After an hour and a half at another dentist that ended up being simply a consultation appointment, it was comforting to know that action would be taken in that appointment instead of just conversation to make this process quicker overall. They also let me email them the x-ray I had taken at the other practice so that I would not need another one. The appointment itself was as good as it gets–truly. The fact that this seems to be an all female-identifying practice is so comforting. Everyone is warm and really understands that many people are really apprehensive about dentistry. I felt safe and I felt as though I really trusted everyone there. They had effective precautions for COVID which made me feel really safe and, unlike the previous practices, they allowed my partner to sit in a chair near me so that I wouldn’t be alone. Sara, the dental assistant, was wonderful and warm, even as I cried on the chair. She explained everything asked me if I was ready as things were happening. She talked to me about my anxiety around the visit (which I had written about in my new patient forms) and it definitely seemed as though she communicated that to Dr. Vu before she spoke to me. I also feel there is a lot of shame around cavities and dental hygiene, but Sara took time to look at my other teeth as well (something the other practice did not do) and told me all of my other teeth look great and this one tooth seems to be the anomaly. Hearing that from her made me feel relieved about how I was taking care of my teeth and reduced some of the shame around the visit. I have a deep mistrust of dentistry as I have been scammed by many dentists in my childhood. I have always thought (as a result of these poor experiences) that dentists are incentivized to give you treatments you don’t need or pursue the most extreme option. Dr. Vu changed that for me, truly. She introduced herself to me and asked me about my anxieties around the visit and made me feel comfortable to share that I don’t really trust dentistry all that much. She shared some personal stories about how her childhood dentist took extreme measures on her teeth and this has backfired and now requires her to get a lot of work done on her teeth. She said this shapes her philosophy toward minimally invasive dentistry. Then she said something that made me trust her completely: if she saw a surface cavity that I could reach with my toothbrush she wouldn’t fill it because the trauma of filling could make everything worse instead of helping. She then assured me that she didn’t think this would require a root canal, based on my x-ray, which was a relief given that the previous dentist thought I might need one (which only served to worsen my anxiety about the whole thing). She then asked me if I prefer being told in detail about everything that is happening or if I would rather not know. I told her I want to know but that I wanted this over as soon as possible. I also have anxiety around needles so the 2-min long injection was hard but Dr. Vu shook my cheek to distract me which worked well and Sara gave me a stress ball. The entire procedure lasted under 30 minutes and even though it was a large filling I have had ZERO sensitivity. I have literally never trusted a dentist before, but I will go back to Dr. Vu because I know she is not going to do anything excessive, unreasonably invasive, or something that really doesn’t NEED to get done. Never did I think I’d find myself writing a review for a dentist yet here I am. For good reason. Dr Vu and her team are some of the kindest and most talented in the biz. They give individualized and detailed attention and Dr Vu even remembered some personal details I had shared from my appointment SIX MONTHS PRIOR. They also were extremely kind and understanding when I had to inform them I could not afford a procedure they recommended for my permanent retainer and offered other options to ensure my gums stay healthy. I’ve had past dentists recommend “preventative fillings” which were totally bogus and I’ve never experienced that here. Their office staff is also very friendly and the office itself is impeccable WITH PARKING! Highly recommend.

Everyone is so welcoming and genuinely nice here! Dr. Vu was down-to-earth, extremely knowledgeable, and very gentle. Unique to this practice is that Dr. Vu does the initial cleaning. I found that to be the best part of the visit. She put me at ease and I actually had the chance to talk to her throughout, which you don’t typically get to do with your dentist. Beautiful office, very clean and high-tech equipment. Best dental experience I’ve ever had! Every aspect of the visit was top-notch! Highly recommend!

i *hate* going to the dentist. my fear of the dentist knows no bounds. i want to start with that. i had a wonderful experience here. i have never had a more comfortable and welcoming time. i understood all Dr. Vu’s recommendations and felt immediately as if i could trust her. she gave me a wonderful referral for an oral surgeon for my wisdom teeth and was extremely gentle and patient with me, as was the rest of her staff. Tonya, who is the Office Administrator i believe, was actively listening and reviewed all my insurance info and made everything easy to follow and understand. there were no surprises. i highly recommend this dental practice without hesitation. if you are are scared, worried, or it’s just been a while, let them know and they will make you totally comfortable in a very nonjudgmental way!
