I have been a patient since 1995 and the service has been consistently great. I recently had a root canal and it was by far the smoothest I have ever experienced…zero pain! Dr. Yamashiro has such a gentle way and always makes sure I’m “doing okay.” The staff is very friendly and they always do their best to accommodate me since I travel from another state for my appointments. No matter where I reside, I go to Dr. Yamashiro for my dental needs. He is extremely competent–his numerous awards and special recognitions prove it–and is a kind soul. He is a very gifted dentist, and his passion shows in his work. I appreciate him not just for being a great dentist, but also for being a great person. I know that I am valued as a patient by Dr. Yamashiro, Dr. Fujita, and staff and highly recommend this business.

I’ve been going there for over 2 years. I’m very scared of the dentist but Dr. Yamashiro’s crew is highly skilled. They make sure you are feeling safe and they explain everything that’s happening with your tooth in the process. I’m always satisfied with the outcome and every time I leave I feel confident to come back. It is a private office, so if your insurance doesn’t cover it it’s pricy but totally worth it. You are in the right hands in that office. 🙂

What can you say about a friend who got you to the top of Mt. Whitney and back? That he’s also a great dentist? Why not? All personal bias aside, I can’t speak highly enough about Dr. Roger Yamashiro. My entire family of five (age 7 to 91) has been under his dental care for about seven years now, and in that time we’ve had every manner of work done in his state-of-the-art office–from routine cleanings and digital x-rays to on-site crowns and extractions. In every case, his knowledge and expertise, along with that of his talented, friendly staff, have been five star and above. I’ll let others chime in on his personality and character, but whether you’re meeting him for the first time or continuing a life-long friendship, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more compassionate or generous person, or such a skilled professional. Put him at the top of your list.

Dr. Yamashiro is an awesome dentist. I hate needles and getting shots but he’s very gentle and I didn’t even feel the shot. Dr. Fujita is awesome too. Parking is underground and it’s free which is nice. He has great chair side manner and is very professional. All the hygienists there are great as well! My whole family goes to him.

I’ve been coming to Dr. Yamishiro’s office for over 7 years. His bedside manner is impeccable. He and his staff are always pleasant. When you have an appointment, if you are there early, they always try and get you in ASAP. I cant remember ever waiting longer than 5 minutes to be seen at my appointment time. The staff is talented, kind, and polite. All remember backstories you may share and ask about your kids or career, etc. I’d highly recommend his office for any dental work you may need done!

Life is full of problems, I was able to solve one of my problems by finding Dr. Roger Yamashiro. Taking care of my teeth. Conveniently, his office books me twice a year for check up and cleaning on my way to work. A few weeks a go on a Saturday I chewed on a hard candy which pulled out my crown. I took a photo, texted it to Roger, and Monday morning he had it cemented in. How can you beat that? He is the best.

Dr. Yamashiro is the best!!! I had two teeth extracted today with technically no pain!!! His procedure is usually very smooth, painless, and stress free. He made my crown in house so for a busy working person like me, it’s totally awesome. He is always welcoming and his staff is so friendly and professional. He just left me a follow up message in Japanese! I can understand English perfectly but he always treats me with Japanese care, lol. Thank you Dr. Yamashiro. Updates: after 36 hours later, no sign of swelling, absolutely no pain or discomfort thus far. I’m very happy about the result! I didn’t even need any pain killer after two Advils right after the procedure. 😉

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Yamashiro’s for over a decade. His qualities for being an excellent dentist: Competent, professional, caring, ethical, and friendly. I had dental surgery done on my gum which involved two stitches. Later that same day Dr. Yamashiro called to see how I was doing. Only one other doctor, Dr. Gethner, ever personally called to see how I was doing after a procedure. A doctor to check on his patient personally is very rare! Now days this type of doctor is hard to find. His staff is professional and efficient. Chris, my hygienist, makes teeth cleaning not something to dread. Dr. Yamashiro is the best dentist ever!

I have been to many different dentist in different corners of the country and Dr. Yamashiro is probably the best. Very knowledgeable and caring. His staff is pleasant and caring. People would not fear going to the dentist if they were like Dr. Yamashiro. I have been to multiple dentists that are always looking to make an extra buck off your visit. Not the case here at all. I had a visit with them to see about a possible cracked tooth. Guess what? They did not even charge me for the exam. I just had my teeth cleaned last week by Cory, and it had to be one of the most pleasurable cleanings I have ever had. 0 pain. I cant tell you how happy I am I found this place and would not hesitate in a second to send anyone to this practice. The office is state of the art and operating room clean. If you are searching for a new dentist this is the place for you. Trust me when I say I know dentist, and you won’t find one better. Thank you for being such a great practice.

Not just top notch technically (for which you may expect to endure some inconvenience) but top drawer from an engagement ‘tuned in / turned in’ point of view. So respectful of his patients time, I have never arrived for an appointment and been made to wait. They really get it, I can’t tell you how refreshing in a world of lackluster service to be a client of such a great team of people. I have been going to this clinic over 10 Years from Santa Monica and Doctor Yamashiro never failed my expectations. No doctor can be compared with Dr. Yamashiro. I went to a dentist clinic near my house to evaluate my bad tooth and they recommended me for extraction and they did extracted one teeth on the right side. Meanwhile, I had the same issue on the left side and they also recommended for the same solution. Then, I went to this clinic for a second opinion and Dr. Yamashiro just did my root canal beautifully. Saved my tooth!! His work is fast, less painful and very detailed.

Dr Roger Yamashiro is absolutely the best! Competent. Efficient. Skillful. Caring and kind. I and my family have gone to him for about 20 years now and have never had a negative experience with him or his absolute wonderfully kind and incredibly thorough and competent hygienist and staff. I have had painless and no problems from root canals to crowns to cavities, painlessly done, incredibly perfect fittings..no returning needed to redo, or readjust, or problems. The entire office seems to immulate Dr. Yamashiro’s competence and kindness. I love them all! I had been to several incompetent dentists before him who just couldn’t fill even simple cavities correctly and had to repeatedly go back to file down the filling to allow correct bite,etc.. or cleanings that didn’t feel any cleaner.. Never with Dr. Yamashiro and staff. They do a thorough cleaning and even my little children will say, “mom, your teeth are soooo white!!!” after I return from cleanings! Amazing!

I have been a patient of Dr. Yamashiro for more than 15 years. I have traveled from Long Beach, Riverside, Arizona, and Texas for my appointments.(Yes, he is that good!) The service is always exceptional, timely, and accommodating. Dr. Yamashiro is very patient, professional, and friendly. He is extremely personable and remembers the little things (degree progress, personal and family illnesses, etc.). He promptly responds when I have emergencies and personally returns my calls. He relieves the stress from the dental visit by explaining all procedures, makes sure I am comfortable, and, above all, provides quality care. I even had him redo all my previous dental work. On the rare occasions that I have had to visit another dentist (for an X-ray or diagnosis only), the comments have always been, “You have excellent dental work! Many things in my life has changed over the years…but not the place where I get my teeth cleaned. I’ve been going to dr. Yamashiros my whole life. The staff itself is amongst, if not, the best. Everyone is happy and they always greet you and talk to you on a personal level. They manage to make a dentist check up a Lot more comforting than what you’ll expect. Dr roger knows how to make you feel right at home and seems to be able to relate to all of his patients that come in. The check ups are excellent and don’t take too long at all. They’ve always given me a to go pack with an extra toothbrush and travel toothpaste with some floss. Everyone is so professional and even the people working the front desk try and address you by your name for that personal touch. Parking can be found in an underground structure of the building. Once you park you go to the top floor and find the dentist office that you will be going to for the rest of your lives! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED YOU CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!

Found Dr Yamashiro on Yelp, made an appointment to get my sore tooth pulled. Went in today and met the very friendly knowledgeable staff. Was called in right on time by the assistant who was very pleasant. Dr Yamashiro came in and went right to work. Turned out my tooth is healthy, just had too much tarter built up causing an infection. He cleaned it up and treated the infection, and boom. No more issue. I’m a cash payer so it was very cheap based on what I’ve paid in the past. Dr Yamashiro is a no BS, no scamming but actually a very kind dentist that is very skilled. He recommended a plan of action for my other issues without pressure that I always got from the sales staff that my past dentist had. Then I went to pay and the billing person was so eager to suggest ways to bring my cost down. So not the usual treatment I am used to. It turns out that all the treatment Dr Yamashiro suggested is so cheap, I booked appointments for all of them. So glad for Yelp. I found my dentist for life.

Yamashiro loves and enjoys his work so much, he feels he has never worked a day in his life. He relishes and appreciates it when his patients say to him: “That was the best dental appointment I’ve ever had. It was painless and comfortable.” This is what he strives for in every procedure he performs. He wants every patient to feel well cared for from the time they call the office for the first time until their treatment is complete and they remain on schedule for regular maintenance appointments. Dr. Yamashiro is native to the South Bay area. Having grown up in Gardena, he has watched the South Bay area progress to what it is today. Because of this, he wanted to cultivate his Dental Practice in the area. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California where he received his degrees of Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and his Doctorate in Dental Surgery. Dr. Yamashiro graduated at the top of his class upon completion at the USC School of Dentistry and received several awards in his senior year. He also taught part-time at the USC School of Dentistry for 12 years after his graduation. He was selected as the Chariman of the Operative Section in the Restorative Department during his tenure. No one else has been the Chairman as a part-time faculty member. He was also voted Part-Time Faculty's Excellence in Teaching Award in 1995. He revels in the fact that his former students would see him after graduation and express: “You were tough, but fair. That helped me pass the board exam and be an excellent dentist.” Dr. Yamashiro has also been inducted into several Honor Dental Societies in his 34 years of practice.Most prestigious is his Fellowship in the American College of Dentists. This honor is given to only the top 3% of dentists in the nation. He is also a Fellow in the Academy of Dentists International and Pierre Fauchard Academy. Other memberships include: American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Harbor Dental Society, and the Academy for Excellence in Dentistry (Past President) to name a few. Striving to be the best dentist that he can be, Dr. Yamashiro continues to participate in over 35 hours of continuing education a year In his spare time Dr. Yamashiro likes to go on RV trips, backpacking in the Sierras, exercise, and spend time with his family (especially with his grandson in Oregon). He is a former Scout Master for Troop 719 of Torrance and holds a 4th degree black belt in judo. He also has been teaching a seminar for children ages 5-14 to improve their self esteem, leadership abilities, and communication since 1987. He has traveled to Japan, Canada and throughout the US working with children.
