Dr. Shapiro is easily the best dentist I’ve had. It’s rare to find a dentist that takes their time with you and explains everything they are doing / makes it clear to you what your options are and the pros and cons of each. Last year my insurance changed and I made the mistake of seeing another dentist, and it was a brutal reminder of how most dentists treat patients (spend 5-10 minutes with you, rush everything, try to upsell you with unnecessary treatments.) Even though she’s no longer in-network for my insurance I came back to Dr. Shapiro this year and am so much happier! Also, she went above and beyond with COVID precautions at her office, even installing a new air filtration system, to make patients feel safe.

Dr. Shapiro was wonderful. The cleaning was done quickly and painlessly (and well). Also, I grind my teeth at night. Dentists always push me to buy mouth guards, and I hate that. Dr. Shapiro mentioned it, but was fine with me using my own ones (so long as that it followed certain guidelines and didn’t hurt my teeth/jaw). She is the only dentist I’ve ever seen to not be so pushy in this respect, and showed me that she just cares that my teeth are taken care of, not whether she’s making an extra buck. That was much appreciated! I’ve already booked my next appointment with her.

I just had a dental appointment with Dr. Yelena Shapiro in Manhattan and honestly she is the best dentist I’ve ever had. She explained EVERYTHING, including going through my x-rays with me, telling me how things likely happened to my teeth, and why she was doing everything she was doing. She even stayed longer to give me a cleaning! She was so kind and smart and wonderful. I felt like she was absolutely doing her best to help me in every way she could. She even actively tried to figure out how expensive everything would be before we started when she saw that I was anxious about money, even though insurance isn’t her forte! Ken, who does admin and insurance, is a SUPERSTAR genius and a delight. Ken is so wonderful at helping you understand your insurance, and even gave me some helpful hints about how to set up an HSA in the future. We kept getting sidetracked because we had so much fun talking to each other! He is such a curious, wonderful person, and he’s a ton of fun to talk about astrophysics with! I HIGHLY recommend this practice. If you have any thoughts about going to a new dentist in Manhattan, GO TO DR. SHAPIRO.

Dr. Shapiro has gone above and beyond in helping me with a broken front tooth. It was such a traumatic experience and she took the time to explain the process and has been meticulous, comforting and just so wonderful in every aspect. Her bedside manner is unmatched and she keeps going until the whole process is literally perfect. She kept adjusting the temporary tooth and also made sure that the final product was the perfect fit. All you want in a dentist is someone who is skilled and honest. Dr. Shapiro is both. I’ve had experiences where dentists recommend unnecessary treatments, and she has always taken a conservative approach to my dentistry. She is more concerned with preventative care than just charging me for arbitrary work. When she does do work, my teeth look amazingly healthy. I also went to her for Invisalign. I didn’t have a major issue but had a few teeth I wanted straighter. Many dentists wouldn’t take my case because it was more intricate and refinement. My results were amazing and I am very happen with them. There’s no one else I’d go to in nyc. Best service and prices. I’m also not a “friend or staff” as alleged on this thread.

I am surprised to find myself writing a review for my new dentist… but, Dr Yelena Shapiro was GREAT! It was rare to see such a friendly, competent, involved dentist. Dr. Shapiro is by far the best dentist I’ve seen in NYC and I have seen a bunch. She is kind and cha efficient but takes her time to counsel her patients and answer any questions they may have. She is very thorough with her cleanings and examinations but doesn’t insist on unnecessary procedures which a lot of dentists do. Both of my parents, who are seniors (one with a disability) and required procedures, received them from her and were very happy with her work and her caring, manner.

I found Dr Yelena on Zocdoc and she had amazing ratings and feedback and I asked for an appointment next day and I got it. Let me start with her staff and front desk which are so nice courteous and professional and made everything so quick and smooth including calling my previous dentist and reuqatd of transfer of all my xrays etc. then the Dr saw me and did her consultation and cleaning g and polishing which was excellent, smooths and easy. I am so glad I met Dr. Shapiro and her team! She has great bedside manner and makes you feel comfortable so that you can easily address your concerns. She’s very patient and listens to you. She is also very knowledgeable and brought up things that my previous dentist never mentioned but it all made sense when she explained it. I recently moved out of state but I am willing to travel to NYC just to see Dr.Shapiro. I’ve seen many dentists and you don’t come by a dentist like Dr.Shapiro. She is a gem. My best friend in LA has always been my dentist. As someone very fussy about my teeth and dental health, it was a huge step for me to switch dentists. The biggest fears are finding a dishonest dentist who will recommends things that aren’t necessary, and someone whose work is sub par, which will cost a lot to fix. I feel like I struck gold with Dr. Shapiro. She is so conservative with treatment and only recommends things that are necessary. She is much more concerned with working with me to prevent issues, than waiting then fixing them and billing me. Her work, when needed, is also amazing. Aside from dental work, I also went to her for orthodontics. I had very small alignment issues and wanted Invisalign. Two other dentists were apprehensive because my case was more about refinement and small changes, and they kept saying that they can’t promise results. Dr. Shapiro was confident and every tray we moved up to, fit perfectly, and I ended up finishing early with perfect results. Her prices were also a lot more honest than the other quotes I got. So to summarize: An honest dentist A skilled dentist A flexible dentist with exceptional customer service A dentist whose main priority is my health Amazing service (all of her staff is phenomenal) A kind dentist with amazing bedside manner And a skilled orthodontist I could go to any dentist in NYC, but why would I? She’s perfect.

I’ve been seeing the same dentist since I was 3, so I was very nervous when it came time to switch practices. After seeing all the high reviews, I figured it couldn’t hurt to give this place a try. I am SO glad I did! Ken at the front desk is super friendly and very organized, there was no confusion about my insurance/medical history because he pulled it directly from here, which saved a lot of time/headaches/paperwork. The Dental Assistant (whose name I forget, apologies!) was also super friendly and had everything ready to go for my appointment when I arrived. A WORD FROM YOUR DOCTOR
Yelena Shapiro, DDS, MS, is a conscientious, skilled, and personable prosthodontist, cosmetic and implant dentists who deliver exceptional patient care efficiently and accurately. Dr. Shapiro welcomes new and existing patients and all members of their family to her private practice, located in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. Dr. Shapiro completed specialty training and her Master's degree at Columbia University and then went on to complete Implant Fellowship from Columbia University. This was extensive training in the field of implant surgery, bone augmentation, and regeneration, as well as guided surgery. Upon completion of her undergraduate program in biochemistry and biophysics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, Dr. Shapiro pursued dental school. She went on to obtain her Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry in New York City. Dr. Shapiro then finished her internship and residency at Long Island College Hospital, where she gained extensive experience in implant dentistry. Dr. Shapiro is passionate about continuing her education because she wants to be able to offer the latest and most advanced dental treatments to her patients. She holds an additional certification in prosthodontics that she earned during her fellowship at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City. Dr. Shapiro also maintains a professional membership with the Second District Dental Society. Patients of Dr. Shapiro commend her willingness to educate them about their oral health. She provides personalized care and lets patients know the details of all possible treatment paths, which allows patients to stay involved in the decision-making process. Surgery is begun after a thorough evaluation of 3D imaging (CT scans), which makes a critical difference in the quality and accuracy of surgeries as well as minimizes complications.
