OK, here’s the deal about dentists.  Like lawyers, there are too many of them, simply put.  And they all have 3 kids whom they need to put thru college.  So they find “needed” work where there isn’t any.  And charge you accordingly, and cause pain and inconvenience accordingly. You know those ad fliers they send you thru the mail?  Usually, the most are garage door repairers, followed by – drumroll – dentists!  With “coupons” and all!  Hmm, do you see that for doctors? I am appalled at the number of posters here who don’t like Dr. Thomas because he doesn’t seem “friendly”.  What bull.  You’re beeing naive.  You probably vote for the politicians with the biggest smile and the most babies kissed.  Fact for you to hopefully digest someday: anyone friendly and smiling to strangers is probably out to get their money. Dr.  Thomas is very friendly once you get to know him, but much more importantly he is HONEST.  BTW he ALWAYS says “thanks for coming in”.  And fortunately also totally competent.  So if you prefer nice smiling, gregarious and garrulous dentists who will make those intros, do those crowns and fillings when they’re unnecessary, please go ahead and patronize the 95% of dentists who do just that.  I’ve gone thru a dozen and have what I consider a “statistically significant sample”.  Meanwhile I’ll be driving the 40 miles I need to to see him – exclusively. Footnote: my previous dentist was also forthright, but then he contracted RA and had to throttle back.  His practice was taken over by Delta Dental which has a reputation best appreciated by Googling their many dissatisfied patients.  Suffice it to say that belonging to the 95% is an obvious prerequisite.

Myself & my family have been seeing Dr. Thomas for over 10+ years.   I have no reason to EVER find another dentist in the Phoenix area.   He is kind and professional. he does great work.  His staff is friendly and organized.  They will even send you email reminders of your appt times.  Dr. Thomas gives it to you strait (maybe the below poster just couldn’t accept an honest opinion).  I have never found his prices to be unfair.  As a matter of fact, when my company switched dental insurance companies, Dr. Thomas only filed his claims at the new rate and did not charge me back the difference in cost.   MY HUSBAND goes to see him on a regular basis! What?!?!  That alone should just tell you to book an appt.   I can not say enough GOOD things about this practice.  I refer everyone that I know.

Dr. Thomas has been my dentist and orthodontist since doing my braces over 25 years ago. Now, with two teenagers of my own, he is the only orthodontist I would choose. I have been a patient of Dr. Thomas for many years now. As a child, he was the dentist that my mother took my siblings and I to. I didn’t think I could ever have a pleasant experience at the dentist, but I am living proof that it does happen! He was very nice and explained everything to me before he did any work. Plus his nurse held a small camera on my mouth so I could see what was going on. It was amazing. He furthered his education under the guidance of Dr. Richard A. Litt, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Detroit from 1969–1980, and Clinical Professor and Director of Postdoctoral Orthodontics at the University of California, San Francisco, from 1980–1986. In 1985, Dr. Litt founded the Faculte’ for Orthodontic Research and Continuing Education, F.O.R.C.E., the program of education completed by Dr. Thomas in 1991. The completion of this program and training qualifies him to diagnose and treat orthodontic patients, in addition to all the treatment and procedures in the field of general dentistry. Upon completion of his studies, Dr. David Thomas returned to Tempe to practice dentistry with his father, Dr. Elmo Thomas. For 7 years they worked side by side, sharing knowledge and tips of the trade, in addition to office space. When his father suddenly passed away in 1992, David was able to transition both practices into one, continuing to care for his relatively new patients, as well as the patients who had placed their trust in Dr. Elmo Thomas since 1962. When he’s not at the office, David enjoys playing and watching all types of sports, especially tennis and golf. He and his wife, Terry, just celebrated their 30th anniversary together. They raised their four boys in the east valley, and are finally enjoying what they consider to be one of the best rewards of parenthood: a grandchild. They now freely give up any spare moments they have to spend time with their (nearly) perfect grandson, who has stolen their hearts.
