Dana Nichols is sincerely the best dentist I have been to! He explains everything very thoroughly, gives options for care and actually shows you with a camera what is going on inside your mouth to better understand what needs to be done. His office is meticulous, open and comfortable, and I have never been to a medical practice with a more pleasant reception staff with great communication. Most importantly, Dr. Nichols is so very compassionate. He genuinely cares about having your treatment plan work with your schedule: I went in for an appointment to fix one tooth and had mentioned going on vacation soon- instead of doing the work at the moment he told me he did not want my tooth to be sore or sensitive during the vacation so we rescheduled for after. How awesome is that? I am sure postponing it when I had scheduled his time was inconvenient but he cared more about the quality of my trip. It is not often you find a medical practitioner with that level of consideration and I am very grateful for it, AND he makes my teeth look great 🙂

Dr. Dana Nichols is a knowledgeable, experienced dentist with a gentle touch. Personable, efficient, precise in every detail of the work on your teeth, he is an artist in a town of artists. Since much of his expertise is cosmetic dentistry, this attention to detail is expected and appreciated. With the equipment at his command, he and his dental assistant are able to provide general and specialized dental service in a comfortable, relaxing, aesthetically pleasing environment. The office is beautiful and so is the restroom. Everything is uber clean. The receptionist will contact me to remind me of my appointment. She keeps a record of all my appointments and costs if I need them for my tax return. I feel pretty much pampered when I go there to get my teeth fixed or cleaned. A big plus in Laguna Beach is the convenient location of the office with parking provided.

I’m from Utah and have found it very difficult to find a dentist who doesn’t want to up-sell you an entire mouth of implants for no reason. What a find! Our family has been living in Laguna for over 17 years and in that time, due to retirements and moves, we have had experience with four dentists. Dr. Nichols is by far the best we have experienced. He is kind, thoughtful, thorough, and listens as well as explains what is going on. He prefers to be less invasive (taking a wait-and-see approach with pre-cavities for my son), and carefully explains why. (He uses a little camera so he can show you on a computer screen what he’s seeing in your mouth.) He does the cleanings himself, and my husband says his teeth have NEVER been this clean. Our family of five have all experienced his professionalism and ability to make everyone feel relaxed, comfortable, and able to trust something as potentially scary as dentistry(…).

If there were six stars or more I would rate Dr Nichols even higher I recently needed to change dentists due to relocation and chose Dr. Nichols based on reputation. I was not disappointed. Many people don’t enjoy going to the dentist, and I am no exception. But…I can say that this entire practice made the experience hands down the best of I have ever experienced. The Dr and the entire staff couldn’t be nicer and are true professionals. Dr. Nichols himself was courteous, knowledgeable and easy to communicate with regarding all phases of the visit. He took the time to do a through review and clearly explain the good and the bad. The best dentist I have had during my professional adult life. That has not always been the case with others. My wife changed dentists as well, and agrees wholeheartedly. We even flew our son down to see the Dr. He had the exact same opinion…which is rare for adult children and parents : ) Two big thumbs up and 6 plus stars!

We were originally recommended to Dr Dana Nichols by our son’s orthodontist. Our son needed cosmetic work done on his teeth after an accident, and his orthodontist said that Dr. Nichols did excellent work – some of the best he had ever seen (and the orthodontist had seen a lot). Dr. Nichols gave us a free consultation, was extremely helpful and informative, and did not pressure us to use his services. Our son had to have two porcelain veneers because of two front chipped teeth, and Dr. Nichols did an amazingly thorough job to get the veneers to match the rest of his teeth perfectly (the dental work is truly invisible today). While we were waiting for the final porcelain veneers to be made in the lab, my son accidentally loosened one of his temporary veneers, and Dr. Nichols came into the office ON THE WEEKEND to fix it for him. Now THAT’S service!(…)

Dr. Nichols is hands down the best dentist I have ever been to, for so many reasons! He treated my husband, four of my children, and me. ALL of us had great experiences, including my 7 year old autistic son – I absolutely did not see that going well and somehow Dr. Nichols got him to happily sit through the whole thing! One of my boys has always had trouble with his teeth, and after a semester at college where he seemingly didn’t brush his teeth for four months, had 19 cavities. This boy has been to every dentist under the sun because we have moved a lot, and after the amazingly chipper lady at the front managed to squeeze him in for four appointments before he had to go back to school, my son said that for the first time in his life he felt like his teeth were actually ‘fixed'(…).

(…)When I showed him my situation he let me know that he could actually do implants and he could do the whole thing right at his office. Everyone else I had seen required me to go to three or four different dentists because not one of them specialized in the entire procedure. I had my consultation and decided to go forward. Again this is a huge deal for me; it’s something I had been avoiding 42 years! Dr. Nichols painstakingly helped me grow new bone, fixed my gum line and was very patient with what I see as an almost impossible situation to correct. Wish there was a 10 star rating!

I am so blessed to have found such a great and thorough Dentist! I had not been to the dentist for over a year because my previous dentist, who I had been going to for over 10 years, had retired. After 24 years of experience in this amazing profession, I am ecstatic to call Orange County my home. After serving in the United States Air Force as a dental technician and my Doctoral training at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, I have been a practicing Dentist for 14 years. I worked as an Associate General Dentist in Ann Arbor, Michigan before acquiring and growing a successful comprehensive care practice in Dayton Ohio. My wife, who is from Orange Co., and I decided to move here to raise our two children closer to family. I recently purchased the Laguna Beach practice and am immensely excited about the opportunity to grow a new office in such a vibrant and beautiful community. I enjoy my family, sports and playing the guitar. I also have an immense passion for the art and science of dentistry.
