For many years I have wanted to fix my crooked smile, which kept me from smiling freely and often reminded me of my discomfort laughing at jokes with friends. I would turn away. But that’s all changed now. I was referred to Dr Nooshi Akavan by my dentist whom I trust implicitly and have been with for 20+ years in Encino. That was 6 months ago and today I’m a new man and I look for nearly any excuse to show off my new sexy Tom Cruise smile. And it was easy folks. Dr Akanvan and her expert team fitted me with a custom under-the-palate invisible retainer. Much better than smile direct I researched because you get regular in-office visits when something feels weird or tight. Can’t imagine not having a real orthodontist guiding me each step of the way. Your smile is the most important part of your face to me.So I took the plunge. I wore my retainer routinely each night and weekends, and little by little it actually worked, just like she promised. I still can’t believe the difference it makes to my smile and to my confidence. It has changed my life. And if you’re in your 50s like me thinking about straightening your smile without anyone knowing or seeing in less than 6 months no pain… Bingo! I found the right match. I cannot say enough about Dr. Akavan’s practice. From the minute you enter her practice you are greeted with an amazing friendly and welcoming staff. As for herself, aside from being gentle and kind, she is very professional and knowledgeable about treating each one of her patients needs. Her warm and friendly personality is just an added bonus to her beautiful practice. She has all of the state of the art equipments, which makes you feel very good about your child getting the best care there is. Her back office assistants, are always smiling and make both kids and parents feel so comfortable and at ease during every appointments. She has now treated both of my boys and has done an amazing job with straightening their  teeth and giving them a beautiful smile. I wholeheartedly recommend her as the orthodontist you would want for your loved ones!!

Dr.Akavan and her entire staff are simply wonderful! I was referred to her office by my dentist. I was seeking to have my teeth straightened after not having worn my retainers as a teen after having braces. I’m now in my 50s. My front teeth were crowding in on themselves. During my consult, I was given 3 options– braces, Invisalign, or the Bloore aligner. I chose the Bloore aligner, a retainer like device. I am so happy with the results– were almost finished, but my once crooked and overlapping teeth are now straight!! I’m so happy!! Dr. Akavan is absolutely lovely and kind. She discusses each step, provides excellent care, and encouragement. I have watched her and her staff with the younger patients every visit– they are super gentle, offering nothing but kindness, and professionalism. The office is clean, airy, and bright. As a septuagenarian, I’ve visited my share of dental (and orthodontic) practices, and while Dr. Akavan’s is definitely state of the art, what has impressed me even more is the welcoming ambience of the place. Her staff is always cheerful and accommodating, the waiting room bright and comfortable, the spacious treatment area calm, organized, and immaculate. I’ve been wearing an aligner for nearly 6 months now, and the periodic adjustments have produced exactly the result Dr. Akavan promised. She has made the process a pleasure, with her knowledge of just what to tweak when, and her deftness. And her sense of humor. Being a patient here has been such a positive experience that, really, I could not recommend this practice more highly.

My mom and I have both been patients of Dr. Akavan. We really love her interest and care in each of her patients’ needs. Her staff is super friendly, caring, and very skilled. My dentist referred me to Dr Akavan as I had a permanent retainer that had broken for the third time. I went in to have it removed, which very unexpectedly, she offered to do for no charge. At any rate, after talking through some of my concerns (I grind a lot and just dropped a mint of money on upper veneers), we decided my bite guard should be on my upper teeth(I had a lower one), and that if I went with a hard guard, I could loose the upper retainer and keep my teeth from shifting. My lower teeth had been shifting for the past 6 or 7 years so she made me an adjustable retainer for those as well. Cut to 5 months later and my lower teeth are perfectly straight. The whole process was super affordable and painless. I was very pleased. The office is very nice, the technicians always greet me by name and waiting time is always minimal. The office has a great activity area for kids including interactive games and TV (I had to bring my 3 year old with me once, and he amused himself during my adjustment. If my kids should need an orthodontist, this is definitely where I’ll be bringing them.

We all love Dr Akavan!!!  She did braces for 2 daughters and myself.  The office staff is amazing and so friendly.  When i started with Dr. Akavan, she told me twice my daughter was not ready for braces.  I loved that because she was so honest.  I am on my second time around with my kids and have one more kid to go, and I couldn’t think of anyone better for my kids.  I actually look forward to my kids appointments because everyone is so friendly and it is a very happy environment.  I also respect the level of appreciation they have for their patients.  I got the removable braces 5 years ago and it was the best thing i ever did.  My teeth were straight in 9 months.  I actually broke one of my braces and Dr Akavan replaced it for free.  I recommend Dr Akavan to all my friends and they all concur on her service, as well as price.  I highly recommend her.  I promise you won’t be disappointed!!!!

One of the greatest things about being one of Dr. Akavan’s patients is that Dr. Akavan doesn’t make you dread coming back to the office! She isn’t the mean, old doctor that kids imagine when they think “orthodontist”. No, she’s quite the opposite. Compassionate, kind, and an expert at what she does, Dr. Akavan is truly one of the best orthodontists in the valley. I have friends who envy my orthodontist because Akavan’s is just that great! Not only does Dr. Akavan know exactly what she’s doing, she know how to work with all different kinds of kids and adults. She has a vast amount of patience. Dr. Akavan knows when to have fun and when to “get down to business” and be serious. She always has the patients best interests at heart, which is really important. The amount of time and effort that Dr. Akavan dedicates to each individual patient is exactly how every orthodontist should be. Dr. Akavan is truly amazing 🙂 Not only is Dr. Akavan fantastic, the staff is as well! Always friendly and sweet, the staff comforts even the most disruptive and scared children (I should know, I was one of them)! It doesn’t matter what age, 3 or 33, 5 or 55, you can count on the staff and Doctor to always ensure your comfort and always reassure you if need be! Words don’t even begin to describe how lucky I was to be in Dr. Akavan’s care. The staff, particularly Erin (but literally EVERYONE), were (and still are!) always so kind, compassionate, caring, and some of the most loving individuals I’ve ever met. I joke around about how I wish I had more problems with my teeth so I could go back because I find myself missing the company of Dr. Akavan and all the staff. One of the many positives of being one of Dr. Akavan’s patients is how, as I’ve mentioned before, the doctor and staff have the ability to work with any kind of patient. I’ve seen first hand how the staff and doctor are able to treat any type of person successfully and happily. I am so thankful that Dr. Akavan’s was my orthodontist and truly, 100% recommend her. 🙂

This review is long overdue as I finished my 18 month treatment plan with Dr. Akavan earlier this year. I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Akavan and her team! I had found her through one of her advertisements for a unique teeth straightening system called Bloore Aligners. Like many people, I had braces when I was a pre-teen and I wasn’t very responsible wearing my retainer after they were removed. As expected, my front teeth had shifted. So I decided that I wanted to finally do something about this in my late 20’s since it gradually became worse over the years. Of course, I did not want to go through the agony of braces again. At first I had looked into Invisalign, but I knew that I would not be able to stand having two layers of plastic in between my teeth. (After I got my braces off when I was a teenager, my orthodontist at the time had first given me clear plastic retainers. I absolutely could not stand them and they replaced these with the traditional retainers made of plastic and metal wires.) So I knew that when I saw a picture of the Bloore Aligners, they would be perfect for me. They are just like a traditional removable retainer with the wire in the front, but they have four small metal loops which lay behind the four front teeth that can be twisted around during each office visit to gradually align your front teeth. By the way, Dr. Akavan is one of the few orthodontists in the LA area to use this system. (She does also have Invisalign.) And another great thing about the Bloore Aligners is that they become your retainers after the treatment to maintain your straight teeth. They also provide the peace of mind that I would not have to pay for another set of retainers if my front teeth slightly shift in the future. If necessary, I can just come back for a visit and have Dr. Akavan make adjustments to the four small metal loops which still remain after treatment. During my consultation appointment, Erin who is one of the RDAs mentioned that she had tried Invisalign first and it did not work very well with her. Later on, she had the Bloore Aligners which worked much better for her. I was even more sold after hearing that! Since my insurance only covered part of the cost, Dr. Akavan mentioned an interest-free health care financing option through Chase. So after a quick phone call to Chase in their office to verify my credit, I was approved for the amount I needed. Throughout the treatment process, Dr. Akavan and her staff were very accommodating and always told me to never hesitate to call them if something doesn’t feel right. And every time that I walked through their door, I was greeted by Denise at the front desk who is such a sweet person with a bubbly personality 🙂 Thanks to Dr. Akavan and her team, I now have a straight smile! The next step for me is to get a whiter smile 😉

Our daughters received both phases of treatment from Dr. Akavan.  Phase I started around the time they were in third grade and involved expansion and treatment of an under-bite.  One daughter required minimal phase 2 treatment for minor adjustments and the other needed a second round of braces.  Both have now completed their treatments and the results are fantastic! Our experience over the many many years of going to her office has been absolutely outstanding.  The office staff are so very welcoming, the nurses caring and knowledgeable and Dr. Akavan is informed, professional and attentive.  It has always been easy to schedule appointments and she has state of the art equipment in her office.  I have and would recommend Dr. Akavan without reservation.

After seeing my daughter wear braces for 5+ years and not progress, I finally decided to cut my losses and switch to Dr. Akavan, and I have never looked back.  My daughter’s braces came off within nine months, and she now has a beautiful smile.  Dr. Akavan really knows her job and cares so much about her patients.  She runs a very professional office — the staff are kind, accommodating, and compassionate.  I now take my other daughter to Dr. Akavan as well, and would strongly recommend her as the best orthodontist ever!

I have had the most wonderful experience going to Dr. Akavan’s office. Dr. Akavan and her staff have an amazing, friendly personality. They have been so understanding of my bad work schedule and have been so accommodating. Dr. Akavan is always available to answer all of my questions in detail. She explains everything she is doing and why she is doing them. I leave her office every time satisfied. Now aside from amazing personalities, good customer service, good patient/doctor relationship, Dr. Akavan is an amazing orthodontics! She has done miracles on my teeth! Great results!! I have recommended her to all of my friends who are looking for relaxing, welcoming place with great results on their teeth!!

Dr. Akavan is amazing! Before we came to her we had a consultation some where else, which they said my sons bite could not be fixed any other way unless he had surgery that required his jaw to be broken. Dr. Akavan fixed his bite and straightened his teeth without any surgery! She is the best at what she does. She is compassionate and cares for her patients. She makes you feel comfortable and is very friendly. Her staff is also great starting with the front office you will always be welcomed with a friendly smile. They’re great with scheduling and you never wait more that 5 mins. The assistants in the back are amazing as well. They are friendly, caring and gentle. They did a great job making my anxious son feel comfortable and calm, with all of their patience. We are so grateful we found them !

Dr. Akavan and her staff are absolutely AMAZING!!! They are so professional and really care about the client/patient. She was very personable and took time to answer all of my questions. Her staff provided superb customer service. The entire experience was excellent!! If you want honesty, professionalism, courtesy, clean environment and desire great orthodontic care, I would highly recommend going here!!

Dr. Akavan is AMAZING!!!!! Im 42 yrs old and had a gap between my two front teeth forever and I was over it! I had seen several Orthodontists in the past and none could do what Dr. Akavan did, literally. I was told time and time again that there was nothing I can do to close my gap short of braces and/or invisalign and even than its no guarantee my gap would close. On my consult visit, Dr. Akavan and her very knowledgeable staff offered me aligners for my top teeth and guaranteed the closing of my gap within 6-8 months. I had never heard of aligners before that day. Not every Orthodontist can do aligners and the ones that don’t don’t tell you they exist! I couldn’t be more happier with the results, my gap is completely closed!! I look so different and the confidence boost woooah! As I’m writing this review I keep glancing at the mirror to look at my teeth, I am stunned really stunned! I didn’t think this day would ever come that I can look at my teeth and not see the gap I’ve had for all my life. Dr. Akavan and her staff have impeccable bedside manner, a rarity nowadays in Doctors office’s. The office and staff are very warm, professional and friendly, a true reflection of who Dr. Akavan is. I am so grateful to have found her and her office! I am a whole new person because of them and I absolutely love it!!

I got a few opinions before finding DrAkavan online. I couldn’t settle on any of the other offices I got consultations at because some doctors didn’t seem confident and some seemed disorganized. When I met DrAkavan I was very impressed with her and her office staff and decided to get my teeth straightened with her. I was given a couple of options and decided on Invisalign. I’ve never looked back. My teeth look awesome!! I love to smile now. The appointments were short and easy and I never had to wait. I had a wonderful experience and beautiful results thanks to Dr. Akavan. She is an excellent Doctor who came highly recommended by my dentist. During my initial consultation I was seen and thoroughly examined by Dr. Akavan. Prior to this consultation, two other orthodontists all confirmed what Dr. Akavan recommended (a removable aligner for bottom teeth and retainer for top). I’m so happy I received treatment from Dr. Akavan. Her office is state-of-the-art and her team is always friendly and helpful. In addition to being a highly skilled Orthodontist, Dr. Akavan is very kind, thoughtful, and a true professional. My teeth look great, the treatment took less time than I expected, and I get lots of compliments on my teeth now, thanks to Dr. Akavan.

When it comes to professionalism, expertise, and overall personality, Dr. Akavan is BOSS. Here’s why… Let me start off by explaining that I moved from LA to Baltimore less than a year ago, but I’m still using Dr. Akavan as my orthodontist! I had regular braces when I was a kid, and like most idiot children, I didn’t wear my retainers. So, by the natural order of events, my teeth were not as pretty as they could have been. My bite was weird, which looked funny and gave me headaches, and I had a snaggle tooth that just didn’t sit right. I was very self-conscious when smiling for pictures, and I wanted to change that. I had seen an orthodontist in LA a few years ago that my dentist at the time had recommended who wanted to put regular braces on me again. I wasn’t having it. I’m sure I could have been convinced, but given that this guy had no personality and barely gave me 2 minutes of his time during my visit, I went running for the hills. Shortly after that a friend of mine recommended Dr. Akavan. She AND her kids go there and absolutely love it; since when do kids love going to see the orthodontist? So I show up at Dr. Akavan’s office, and am just blown away by how friendly and helpful her staff is. They greeted me with huge smiles right away and they are all just so incredibly sweet. The office itself is gorgeous – everything looks newly remodeled, very kid-friendly, and CLEAN! (I’m a germophobe, so this is a big deal for me). I went to the back and sat on the chair to meet Dr. Akavan. She is this lively, fun doctor with a great sense of humor, and she is brilliant! She took the time to point out the problems with my bite and go over all the options. They offer Invisalign, so instantly I was sold! So let me fast-forward to now – I was about 5 months into my treatment when I found out I had to move to Baltimore for work. Fortunately, I fly back to LA every few months anyway, so I made the wise choice to keep Dr. Akavan as my orthodontist. I’m still undergoing Invisaline treatment and absolutely LOVE it. No one ever knows I’m wearing them, and I’m seeing beautiful changes with my teeth!

My son  had a non-existent tooth in the back that we discovered while having x-rays. We went to interview a few ortho’s that were on his HMO plan and both were wanting to be very aggressive with this issue, one doctor wanted to break his jaw to close the gap. “NOT GOING TO DO THAT”! A friend took all 3 of her girls to Dr. Akavan  they all have gorgeous teeth,  and come to find out my dentist highly recommends Dr. Akavan. I called and made the appt ,we were greeted by the girls at the front desk who were so lovely. Dr. Akavan reviewed my sons issue and came up with a plan which was so much more humane, her plan was to work on straightening the existing teeth and as he grew we would tackle the empty space and then eventually put in a fake tooth to fill the area. That was alot more logical then the others, “SHE WAS THE DOCTOR FOR US”! we signed on knowing that she did not take HMO. They set me up on a payment plan that was really do-able and I very much appreciated that. 4 yrs later I decided to work on my own teeth, and I was a little concerned that I might have to have the invisalign at a cost of 5k and after Dr. Akavans consult she said I would only need retainers for 6 months and the cost was really reasonable. Today was the end of my 6 month timeline and I’m very happy with the results. Thank You Dr. Akavan!

Dr. Akavan . . . a miracle worker! My bottom teeth had been slightly crooked for years, and I was resigned to smiling with upper teeth only. On several occasions, my dentist recommended Dr. Akavan (now I know why his teeth were perfect). Vanity finally getting the best of me, I made an appointment with Dt. Akavan and was greeted by the most pleasant, courteous and professional staff (in a lovely office). When Dr. Akavan came in (promptly on time), I met the best medical professional in my life. Really smart, warm. funny (beautiful) and a crack diagnostician, Dr. Akavan fitted me for a retainer. No wasted time and no nonsense. Within two visits, I was set.. Not only painless, but each visit was as pleasant as the first. I felt as if I was part of a family. Within a year, I was smiling as I never had before! Go see Dr. Akavan!!!

We owe my two daughters’ beautiful smiles to Dr. Akavan. I get compliments about their teeth wherever we go and of course we know exactly who to refer them to. They started their treatment in 6th grade and finished in a couple of years as teenagers. Dr. Akavan patiently listened to every concern they had being super picky at that age:) During off hours, she returned our pages immediately each time at any time of the day. Her staff is very professional and accommodating. They always project a positive attitude which is the tone she has set for her office. I was so happy with our experience that I myself became a patient. Dr. Akavan suggested a removable aligner rather than traditional braces which was more convenient. The fact that I only wore it part time, made life much easier. No one noticed it and in only 6 months, I had straight teeth. Comparing to the metal braces I had had in my teenage years, this was so easy and a walk in the park.
