My husband and I have been going to this practice for years because we really like Dr. Hangval.  He is prompt and efficient, friendly, and able to explain things in a way that someone who is not a medical/dental expert can easily understand.  The hygienists are also friendly and competent.  I have never had to wait more than a few minutes for an appointment to begin.  Highly recommend!

Doctors Hangval and Alcantara are calm, patient and thoroughly explain their diagnosis and recommendations. Great chair-side manner.

This is singularly the very best dental practice I have ever been too. I am terrified of going to the dentist and I had been without dental insurance for about five years up until a year ago. During that period I had to have two teeth extracted and also had two broken teeth. I could not smile openly for several years. I was terrified to go back to the dentist because I was afraid of the pain and the enormous expense I anticipated. After ten months of unemployment I finally starting working again last August, 2012. I now have very good insurance. It still took me a couple more months to work up the nerve to go to the dentist. I finally made an appointment and the first time I saw Dr. Hangval. He was one of the kindest persons I ever have had the pleasure to meet. Dr. Hangval took a lot of time with me to examine me and make recommendations for the most economical way I could regain my smile. The first thing I told him was how terrified I was of going to the dentist and my resistance to novacaine. In the past I had been to a dentist that I had stressed that too and he still did not numb me enough and when he started to drill I jumped and he cut my lip. Armed with that knowledge, Dr. Hangval was very gentle with me and made sure I was numb when he did work. Dr. Hangval does excellent work too. I had to have to crowns and a partial and a chipped front tooth repaired. I think my teeth look almost perfect now. When I say almost perfect, I mean I am cursed with small teeth and cannot afford to do anything about that right now. But all of the work Dr. Hangval did on me is perfect and has given me a smile I thought I would never have again. Thank you so much Dr. Hangval and staff. You are all awesome and I appreciate all of you! I have been now seeing Dr. Hangval since April, 2013 and I am excited to say that I can now smile widely again and I feel great about how my smile looks. Dr. Hangval is very sensitive to his patient’s needs and fears and he has gained me a patient for life! On a scale of 1 to 10, Dr. Hangval definitely rates a 15!

Our family has used this practice for years and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an awesome and caring dentist. Appointments are very easy to make and they will send you a text to remind you of upcoming appointments, which is nice since you schedule your next appointment for six months out. They give you a one week heads up for upcoming appointment time. My personal experience has been with Dr. Hangval and dental technician Jong. I go twice a year. Not to brag… well yeah I’m bragging… but I don’t have any cavities, have never had anything beyond a cleaning, and I was born without any wisdom teeth. Jong is the most personable technician I have ever had. He is fun to talk to and he does a great job! Dr. Hangval removed my kid’s wisdom teeth and that was a good experience. They also go twice a year and are really at ease with this practice. It is relaxed but professional. There are several other dentists in the practice who are always able to step in if your personal dentist isn’t there. They have appointments all day on Saturday which is a nice touch!

After many years of avoiding the inevitable of finding a new dentist I was referred to this practice and they accepted my Insurance, worst case scenario I get my teeth cleaned. What I never expected was the helpful friendly people who work there and more importantly work as a team. They were patient and kind and carefully explained each process before completing it. When they finished they recommended a couple of follow up procedures and when I stated I wanted to research my out of pocket cost versus my Insurance they quickly looked it up and wrote it on the estimate for me. If you are like I was and are looking for caring and helpful people then look no further.

I have been coming to Contemporary Dentistry of Virginia for many years. Dr. Hangval is a superb dentist whether he is doing a routine filling or fitting me with a new cap. He explains everything clearly and I never feel that he is too busy to answer all my questions. Amy is my dental hygienist and is wonderful. As as hygienist she is professional and thorough, as a person a sheer delight.

I cannot say enough good things about this practice. I found them because I was looking for a dentist office between work and home that offered sedation. I needed two crowns put on. Dr. Hangval was very nice and explained the three options of sedation. I told him that I do not like needles and will try to get away if I see one. They are kind enough to hide the needles from me when they need to use them. I know, I am a baby when it comes to that stuff. I have had several fillings done at the office and have never had any problems. I have been going to them for the last three years and even make my husband drive all the way from home just to go in for check-ups. We love this practice!

I have been going to this dental clinic for about 3 years and it is always a pleasant experience. From the moment you enter the clinic you are received with a smile and just taken great care of. All of my visits have been pleasant. My dentist is Dr. Alcantara and besides of having fantastic bedside manner, he is knowledgable, kind, fast, detail oriented, and always available for advice. His assistant Rozita is just the best, such a kind and caring person, she is always making sure you are comfortable. Rick from the front desk has also always helped me with paperwork and insurance documents. I also have had the experience to be treated by Dr. Hangval and he is amazing! Both of the Hygienists are also excellent. Thank you to everybody in the practice for your excellent care and dedication towards medicine, you are a wonderful team!

The work and true love of dentistry by Dr. Hangval is very rare. I really mean it when I say he loves dentistry. If you’re looking at getting cosmetic work done, I highly suggest Dr. Hangval. Don’t make the mistake thinking that he is only a dentist. I went to a prosthodontist who wanted $60K to pull all my teeth. What a rip-off. All that guy was interested in, was the money. I finally had some teeth removed and implants added by an oromaxillary surgeon. About a year later I went to Dr. Hangval to see about getting a permanent denture. After seeing the work by the Oromaxillary surgeon, Dr. Hangval saw that one of the implants was placed between two molars that will eventually affect the quality of the partial denture. As a temporary (until I get the permanent denture), Dr. Hangval made me a removable partial denture. When I got it, he fit the first time. He did some extra work on the denture at no charge to me. Check this guy out. Dr. Hangval is also going to build up some bone between two teeth (usually done by a periodontist). I trust him completely to do an excellent job.

This practice is fantastic! The entire experience here is one of a kind. The staff is well knowledgeable and friendly, especially Emily R. and Dr. Whitman. As you leave they even give you a special flavored chapstick to go with your dental goodie bag. Love this place. I was very impressed all around!

I had a wisdom tooth extracted by dr. Hangval I was extremely nervous going in but the staff and dr hangval made me feel relaxed. I knew I was in good hands the shots were painless and I was in and out really fast, the pain over the next couple days maybe got to a 3 after swishing with salt water. They more than took care of me they made my fear of dentist disappear.
