Dr. De La Pena is the BEST dentist in the entire world. And I mean that. I am a 30 year old woman who had some awful early childhood dental experiences (being held down by my mother with a metal guard in my mouth kicking and screaming while a dentist continued to drill) that lead to a severe phobia of dentists. I would have panic attacks just thinking about going and would only go if something hurt. About 5 years ago, when my job finally provided dental insurance, someone recommended Dr. De La Pena saying that he was amazing. I called him to make an appointment just to meet him. By that time I had earned my degree in psyhology and was determined to beat my phonia. He was patient, kind and willing to explain everything to me. My first visit consistent of just talking… my second visit consisted of xrays and by my third time I got a cleaning. Now i am a regular every 6 months and even got a filling fixed a week ago with no anesthisia. My entire family now goes including my new fiance who went for the first time a week ago as well. He walked out saying “That was the most pleasant dental experience I’ve ever had”. I can not speak enough of how amazing this dentist is. Additionally, his staff is friendly and competent. Office is clean and equipment is up to date.

By far, this is the best dental experience of my life and for my family. The staff is caring, patient, and very professional. To top it all off, Dr. De La Pena is very thorough and personable. Dr. Fernando de la Pena is amazing! We’ve been going to him for the past 7 years and he’s just the best! I’ve had horrible experiences with dentists when I first came to US. He’s very very gentle, he does very good work and he’s a very reasonable (it doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg). We’ve recently taken our 2 year old with us just to establish a relationship with her future dentist and she loves him too:). It’s great to have a good dentist for our whole family who is trustworthy, reasonable and knowledgeable.

Dr. Dela Pena is a great dentist. He is my dentist for 4 years now. He is very fast but thorough. He is also honest unlike other dentists who would take advantage of your insurance and would do anything to your tooth even it doesn’t need to. He is very honest, he explains what needs to be done. He is very professional and all the crew working in the clinic from receptionist, to dental assistants. Everybody is nice and accommodating. This place is amazing. The doctor is very knowledgeable easy going and someone who really listen to the patient. It has been a pleasure coming here for years and although I don’t want him to get too busy so I can still see him without a long wait, it would be a disservice to society to not share his info. I seriously can’t remember a teeth cleaning with very little pain if any as the ones I get here, but all their services are top notch. And by the way, have I mentioned how amazing of a human being the doctor is and super funny. Highly, highly recommend him. If you are in need of a general dentist, look no further.

I’ve been coming here for two years now Dr Pena does an awesome job with the cleaning. However just make sure you come with nothing to do later because the wait is a little extreme I had an appointment at 1100 have another @ 1230 somewhere else…. Let’s just say I shouldn’t of made the 1230 cuz I missed that. Other than that prefect service. They just have to work on the wait times. Not good!!! especially with everyone’s busy schedule. Hopefully next time I come they’ve worked on that.

Dr. Dela Pena is a very nice and the best dentist i’ve ever met. He will not take advantage of you and will tell you what you really need to prioritize. The staff are very nice and it’s very easy to schedule an appointment. I would highly recommend them. Im happy with the service. I wish they would do all my dental procedure but they have to refer me to a specialist for wisdom tooth extraction. And they are very respectful to everyone.

Friendly staff, knowledgeable & honest dentist. You even get your own TV to watch at your chair! Very kid friendly environment. They also do Zoom teeth whitening & invisalign if you like. Takes PPO insurance but seems to have reasonable cash payment prices. It’s near Tommy’s if you like that stuff. I don’t like Tommy’s though.

How I wish I could give more than 5 stars of my review of Dr. Fernando de la Pena, My dentist of more than 30 years retired and it was a challenge to find a dentist. I went on Yelp and found stellar and excellent reviews of Dr. D. My experience as a first-time patient was awesome. First, the office staff was very nice, friendly and very welcoming. Dr. D himself impressed me with his professionalism, knowledge and wealth of experience. Dr. D and his assistants made me feel relaxed and comfortable and, surprisingly, helped me through the challenging thorough cleaning, which, in all honesty, is not really a fun experience for me. Who has fun with this? Anyway, I was proud of myself! And, it was a very good feeling of my teeth after the cleaning, which is proof of the high quality dental care. Dr. D is very caring, genuinely sincere and conservative and I have a strong feeling he is going to save a tooth as long as it can be saved. I left the clinic with absolute trust in Dr. de la Pena. I’ve been seeing Dr. De La Peña for over a year now and this review is very overdue. He is the most honest, fair, genuine medical professional I’ve ever worked with. It’s clear that his top priority is to help people. Period. He could charge more, he could turn down patients with bad insurance, but he doesn’t. The man truly cares and it’s rare to find. All of this, and he does excellent work. He is highly professional and undoubtedly an expert in his field with deep experience. He’s done plenty of work on my teeth and always did a great job. A WORD FROM YOUR DOCTOR
The De La Pena Dental Group has been providing general dental care in the heart of Los Angeles since 2001. The office also offers cosmetic and orthodontic services. The Los Angeles School of Dental Assisting is an affiliate of the De La Pena Dental Group that trains students for entry-level employment as a dental assistant in its three month course. Hello! Before anything, thanks for visiting our humble little website. I am tempted to use the internet to show off what we can provide, what kind of education we have and the latest gadgets and gizmos we purchased to deliver care and all that... but then again I thought, why don't I just build a simple website from scratch and talk to you guys as if you were in front of me? You know... from my heart. I am Dr. Fernando de la Pena but everybody calls me "Dr. D" and please feel free to do so. I graduated from dental school in the early 90's and started working for several companies trying to gain experience and in 2001 we opened up the De La Pena Dental Group. Our office and treatment protocols are a combination of all the good things I learned from the numerous offices I worked in before we opened our doors. Our goal was simple, to provide the best care we can at a very reasonable cost. This goal has withstood the test of time and it is how we help our patients and the community afford dental care. I have been practicing since the mid-90's. We are able to deliver a lot of dental treatments and procedures from cleanings to root canals, from crowns to dentures even veneers, whitening and certain types of implants. I know what I can and what I cannot do. I am very honest with my patients and I want my patients to be educated and informed at all times of the risks, benefits and alternatives of certain procedures. I will sit down and take the time to do so in a way that I will be understood, no dentalese. My patients appreciate this very much and they have peace of mind every time they make a decision. After all, your peace of mind means a good night's sleep for me : )
