I’ve been a patient of Dr. Updyke’s for quite a few years and would not go anywhere else. A note on a post below about relying on the diagnodent – I’d agree that drilling unnecessarily is bad. However I had several old cavities that were identified as issues and Dr. Updyke suggested we take care of them in a preventative way. No push, just “Hey these are going to be a problem. You can take care of them at your convenience or deal with them as they come.” I of course took no action. Sure enough three months later crack goes the tooth he said was going to go first. My point here is that I don’t think Dr. Updyke is recommending unnecessary work. In my experience I feel like Dr. Updyke is targeting 100% for my teeth. It’s his job to identify potential problems and try to correct them. Him knowing that I have two more problem teeth is good. I may be lazy and not do anything about it, but more info is always good. One more thing, if your dentist does not have a 3d printer for crowns and caps (i don’t know all what these things can fix), stop going to that dentist right now and find one that uses one! (Dr. Updyke of course has one.

Dr. Updyke is amazing. I started going back to the dentist, scarred by previous experiences, wanting all the drugs. He and his hygienist are so unbelievably gentle that I just went in and got some fillings fixed with no numbing or gas, and it was mildly unpleasant at the very worst. Highly recommend, you won’t find a better dentist. period.

Great experience. The whole staff was so welcoming and right when I walked in the door Scott (Dr. Updyke) knew my name and introduced himself. I was explained things about my insurance coverage and given options before any service was done and the exam and cleaning were extremely thorough. I’ve definitely found my dentist in SLC.

The team at Dr. Updyke’s dental practice is the best! They are always professional yet personable. They make it a point to ask how my family is doing, what’s new in my life and to share some of their stories, as well. They are always concerned with patient comfort and care. I came to see Dr. Updyke after almost a decade of being a dental fugitive. I am terrified of the dentist, and for years I laid in bed at night worrying about it, preferring that tactic to actually going to the dentist. Eventually, though, the writing was on the wall, and I knew I had to go. I found out about Dr. Updyke through Yelp (thanks, all you other great reviewers!), and I’m very grateful to him and his charming, professional staff for making things so easy for me. Now that I have a dentist I’m comfortable with, I can get my teeth healthy again and sleep better at night. The office atmosphere is nice – clean, friendly, and welcoming. I’ve been satisfied with all the services I’ve received so far – very modern and thorough. If you’re new to the area or need a new dentist, definitely go see Dr. Updyke.

This office is amazing! I found them on Yelp. They got me in immediately, Kris was extremely helpful with my insurance, etc. The hygenist Pam did an outstanding job cleaning my teeth, careful and thorough! She also made me feel welcome. Dr. Updkye is reasonable and conservative in his recommendations and doesn’t push for things that aren’t really necessary. He is also great! I’d highly recommend this office!

Dr. Updyke and his professional staff are, in one word, outstanding! If you are new to the area and need a dentist or if you’re not satisfied with your current dentist I highly recommend you give his office a call. He has a small practice that enables them to provide personal (and friendly) attention and excellent dental care. The office uses current dental techniques and Dr. Updyke and his staff attend professional conferences to keep them up to date on emerging trends in dental care. I honestly believe that he is one of the best dentists I have ever had

Dr Scott Updyke is truly a skilled exceptional dentist! Moreover he and his staff are remarkably kind, compassionate and professional. Cindy is a delight to speak with, she makes you feel welcomed and simplifies procedure costs. Crystal made me feel at ease, patiently listening to me ramble on, as I do when I am nervous and explains everything perfectly. Dr. Updyke takes extra time to make sure I am not feeling any pain during the procedure. He explains everything as he goes along and his warm personality and professionalism makes you feel very relaxed. You are probably thinking this review is too good to be true (I would) but it is ALL TRUE! I know sometimes you get a great doctor, but a rude staff or vice versa. Not here though! Everyone is great! I have found the perfect dentist and staff which even includes very reasonable prices. I couldn’t be happier with Dental Architects, I am a patient for life! Don’t put off seeing the dentist because this dentist visit will be a very positive experience! Go see them you won’t regret it!

My experience has been really great so far, considering it is the dentist and I had 9 cavities…. He was able to fill 3 of the cavities during the initial visit, which I loved because that indicated that they weren’t just trying to charged me as much as they can. He asked if I was anxious because they offer nitrous oxide. I’d never been offered that before but it was really nice to have! I get really anxious about having hands in the back of my mouth because vomiting is a phobia of mine, so nitrous turned out to be a game changer! They also let me sit in the chair ofter the procedure as long as I wanted since nitrous can you a little light headed. Yet another small gesture I appreciated since being dizzy is nauseating (a trigger of my anxiety obviously). Dr. Updyke also has this habit of explaining everything he is doing, which I think is great. I never got the feeling they were scamming me or draining all the money they could from me. Every other dentist has done that to me. Lastly, I had some throbbing pain a few days after my fillings and I was able to text his cell phone on a Sunday. He responded really quickly and asked me to come in first thing in the morning. It is really great that he is able to be so available for his patients.

We love the office of Dr. Updyke-its fun, great conversations and a light and easy attitude. Always a pleasure and we look forward to our appointments. The quality of dental work is accurate and precise. Dr. Updyke’s temporary crowns are more comfortable than some of my permanent ones!! He is current with technology and now most of the crowns can be completed during your visit. I would highly recommend Dr. Updyke and his staff. Oh and Pam the Dental Hygienist is a great compliment to the doctors skills….Pam is swift and thorough as she does the cleaning and assessing the condition of gums and teeth.

Sadly, I moved from Salt Lake and had to give up my favorite dentist. However, he deserves my taking the time to give him a good review! I always felt great about the dental care I got from Dr. Updyke, Pam, and the rest of his great staff. He always popped in to spend time with me even on a cleaning-only visit. Although I never needed anything other than fillings over the years, I appreciated his investment in state-of-the-art technology. Unlike a couple dentists I saw in the past, he always seemed genuinely happy to see me (including when bumping into him at the store – it was so nice that he recognized me!) and spent ample time with me even though I was surely never a big money-maker for him. If I ever move back, he’ll definitely be my dentist again. Highly recommend Dr. Updyke!

After spending a few weeks trying to find a great dentist, i finally stumbled upon Dr. Updyke and I’m glad I did. This is probably one of the best dentist I’ve had. He really cares about his patients and tries to do what’s best for them. It’s a small practice but it is updated and nice. I had previously seen another dentist and was suspicious with what they wanted to do. I went into Updyke office and he gave me another opinion and even took new x-rays at no charge. Ultimately I found out I didn’t need everything the other place was asking for. It’s now been several months and this office is great. The staff is always happy and friendly and they even remember your name. I plan to continue coming to this office for all my dental needs.

I have never, ever loved a dentist in my life. Until now. My husband has been raving about this dental office for some time, but I was so tired of searching for one I liked (despite a horrifying painful experience at the last one) so I stubbornly held out. Now that I’m on his insurance plan he convinced me to give Dr. Updyke a try and I have not been disappointed. The staff is super friendly and Dr. Updyke is completely approachable. So many times I have had major anxiety over going to the dentist or being judged (yes, judged) by the staff that I have put off things and had them turn into emergencies that could have been avoided if I hadn’t procrastinated. While I was in the waiting room an older gentleman told me he and his wife have been coming here forever and that I picked a good one. Now I’m passing on that message to all of you. If you are looking for a dental office that cares about their patients, look no further!
