One of the best dental offi– Wait…. One of the BEST businesses you will ever step your foot into! The staff makes you feel so welcomed like you’re family. The ambiance relaxes you instantly. Also they are really good at throwing parties. 2 of my friends have already made the move over to Five Pines and I know many more will. They are A+.

I’ve been going to Five Pines for a couple of years. Everyone is super friendly, my hygienist does a great job cleaning my teeth and is fun to chat with (despite the awkwardness of having tools in my mouth the whole time). Office is bright, clean and welcoming, plus the background music is a catchy, curated playlist. They just need to open a location on the east side now that we all work from home 😉

I’ve always hated the dentist……… Until now!!! It had been years.. multiple years since I forced myself to go to the dentist, and I only did… because adulting… I read reviews for this dental office which were amazing! Plus its located right by my office! my first visit I was SUPER nervous but it was just X-rays and such to see where I was at. Dr. Zeller came to a plan for me and we moved forward…fast forward to part 1 of my 2 part appointments… I was freaked out. NEEDLES, and Scraping noises, and suction noise… OH MY! but it was not bad at all Stephanie was awesome! (she’s the hygienist) Shes sweet, caring, gentle, and tells you step by step what she is doing, she helped calm me down, and was a real joy! now my second appt is in less than 2 weeks and I am not scared 1 bit!… it really takes the right kind of people to be doing this work. This is the best place I have ever been, and now am confident to go on a regular bases! The ladies that work at the front are super sweet too! Thanks so much team!

Dr. Zeller and his team are amazing!!! The entire staff is friendly and helpful, the office is gorgeous and clean, and Dr. Zeller is extremely thorough and gentle.  I have had several fillings now, and each one has been completely pain free.  I have struggled with fear of going to the dentist over the past several years, but these guys have completely changed my attitude.  So glad to have found them!

We just moved to Portland and I found Five Pines through a friends recommendation. Everyone there was so friendly and welcoming. The receptionist was smiley and didn’t make me feel like a dunce for struggling to find the location. Anthony, my dental hygienist was hilarious, gentle, and full of interesting and entertaining oral facts. Dr. Zeller was personable, positive, and encouraging with a sense of humor that made being at the dentist actually enjoyable- those things are not usually synonymous. The aesthetic of the office was modern and welcoming, a nice upgrade from the traditional dentists offices I’ve been to in the Midwest. Also, their early morning appointment accommodated my 9-5 and I liked the the new patient special. Next, their covid precautions made me feel comfortable. Lastly, their was well audible good music playing the whole time, not your old school dentists elevator tunes but rock. Surprisingly pleased with the experience considering it was the dentist, and I’m no more of a fan than the next person.

Seriously the best dentistry I’ve ever been to. Had two upper wisdom teeth taken out and a filling. It didn’t take long from the moment I walked in. They remembered who I was and greeted me with a genuine smile. Super down-to-earth people that really care about you oral health. The mid-century modern atmosphere is always comfortable. Coava coffee, heated messaging chairs, clean, modern, and nice staff. Nothing more I could ask for.

Ok, so I’ve had a few different dentists in my life after moving around a bit. I won’t lie and say I’ve seen bad dentists, but I’ve been to some real mediocre places, and I’ve been to some nicer places. Five Pines Dental is superb. Their office is spectacularly clean, and very relaxing due to all the natural wood (can you believe Dr. Zeller did all of the woodwork??). The staff couldn’t have been nicer, even playing along with my little “preferred name” joke (Lord Bumbleberry– stupid, but they thought it was funny). Their implementation of COVID-19 precautions was amongst the best I’ve seen, so you can be confident that you will be safe there as long as you stick to the guidelines and give other patients their space (easy to do with their social distance floor markers). Zeller was kind and compassionate, just like everyone else on the staff. Overall, it was an excellent experience!

I have to preface this and say I do actually enjoy the dentist, so when I was recommended to Five Pines Dental (and specifically Lauren as my hygienist) by a close friend, I checked out their work and reviews and I was very excited to have this office be my new home for healthy toofers. For a cleaning after not having been for a few years, Lauren was a delight! She was very thorough and precise, and explained every process so well. I felt very relaxed. I don’t know if it’s because it had been a few years since my last dentist visit, but Five Pines had very new tools and gadgets that made me feel that my teeth were really being analyzed and taken care of! I had a great time here, and kind of can’t wait for my next appointment?! Is it April yet? Thank you Lauren and Dr. Zeller!!

“Excellent dental office” This dental office there all very friendly. And what I liked most is the atmosphere inside. Dr. Zeller He is good professional doctor. Leslie She is very kind and very professional. She helped me out with billing insurance and schedule appointments. I am very happy with this office.

It took a bit of stumbling around before happening upon Five Pines. Ironic as it may seem, I’m not particularly trusting of Yelp reviews and will question any establishment/service provider with an almost flawless review record. But there’s no gamble with Dr. Zeller, his staff, or his practice. Many of the reviews here speak to the nitty-gritty so instead of repeating, I’ll mention that my experience (semi-annual cleaning and two fillings, one of which a tad tricky) was exceptional. From appointment-setting, insurance coverage review, follow-ups, all through the actual visit — excellent planning, coordination, and care delivery. Dr. Zeller himself balances personable and professional effortlessly. Ask him about pirates and gold teeth. Worth mentioning — it’s nice to see a practice fully residing in the 21st century operationally, not just through decor.

I am incredibly impressed!! The staff is so knowledgeable and comforting, the hygienist is so sweet and I actually had fun getting my teeth cleaned Dr.Zeller never made me feel rushed, told me the problems and gave me choices, he made sure I was comfortable and set clear expectations. My insurance benefits were figured out before I even came in (same day that I scheduled) and then explained to me. Oh and their chairs massage you!!!!! I have had A LOT of dental work and this was by far the best. I finally feel confident enough to get all my teeth repaired. I highly recommended Five Pines Dental.

I recently moved to Portland and I needed to find a dentist. The office was beautiful and convenient, being in the downtown area. The staff was AMAZING!!! They explained everything in layman terms and they didn’t over exaggerate the issues with my teeth. I highly recommend making an appointment. I’m actually looking forward to my next visit!

Being the kind of gal who would rather do literally anything than go to the dentist- I asked a friend who she would recommend and this place was the JAM! Friendly staff, central location, knowledgeable, and made me feel right at home. Not to mention the heated/massage chair that made me forget about my weird dentist anxieties. They explained everything they were doing step by step, figured out my weird insurance, and I left feeling like I had made some new and awesome teeth loving friends. Go here. Like now!

Five stars for Five Pines! Basically I am loath to having needles, drills and strange hands in my mouth. But my examination and root canal were performed by caring and professional staff members. They were able to find my insurance information and get me an affordable payment plan. I was very happy coming here.

Had to update my review as each time I go Dr Zeller, Stephanie, and their staff exceed my expectations! First of all, and most important to me, they always call me back right at my appointment time. They never waste my time. This time Stephanie helped me learn more about new challenges I may face as I am recently pregnant. (Probably due to the amazing veneers Dr. Zeller did in February. My smile is amazing and my partner couldn’t resist. Haha) She went over extra care instructions and even gave me a free fluoride treatment! Then they helped me look at my insurance plan to see if it covered an extra cleaning during pregnancy. I can’t recommend this place enough. Best dentist in Portland!

Hands down, the best dental experience ever. I noticed the signage a few months back and finally decided to stumble in for an appointment. I was greeted by Isabelle, who was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and set me up for my first visit. Brittany was awesome in explaining exactly what the treatments I was going to go through would feel like, if I may expect any pain, and answered any questions I may have had. Dr. Zeller was great at suggesting different options, explaining concerns, and really helping me understand exactly what he was seeing in layman’s terms. I really appreciated their use of technology and photography to show me my teeth! They’re really great and I can’t wait to suggest them to anyone I know.

I’m not exaggerating when I say this is the best experience I’ve ever had with a dental practice. Dr. Zeller, his wife Cathy, and indeed their whole team are running a really competent, welcoming, and modern business with an apparent investment in customer service. I was impressed, comfortable, and well taken care of. Stephanie was fast, efficient, accommodating, and friendly. Dr. Zeller was a boss and his blonde eye lash made me weak. His whole staff was on point and I love how digital their whole operation is. A+

I have a really good experience every time I come here. They have great waiting room reading material. The office music is well curated. Everyone that works there is friendly and professional. I’ve only been in for preventative appointments, but I’ve seen both hygienists there; Lauren and Steph both seem really passionate about what they do and they show that they truly care about your oral health. Thumbs up!

The staff is very nice, they always use my preferred name, and it has a very comforting atmosphere. The dental chairs can be heated, they have blankets available, sunglasses to cut down on the light glare, and special tools if you have sensitive teeth. I have a sensory processing disorder and I’ve had the least painful and stressful dental experiences I’ve ever had here at Five Pines. I actually go regularly for the first time in my life because of this. They also validate parking in the building.

I absolutely love this place! From the moment you arrive, the staff makes you feel so welcomed and are super nice. Steph did a phenomenal job with my teeth cleaning and was very conversational. I visited Five Pines 6 months ago for the first time for an appointment and went back today for my check up, and Dr. Zeller recognized me and even remembered where I worked at and asked how I was doing there. He is super friendly and very professional! I highly recommend anyone to visit Five Pines Dental as soon as possible!

I had an awesome experience at Five Pines Dental. I was very nervous and anxious about dental treatments as a result, I hadn’t been to the dentist in a few years. I was interested in sedation options. They discussed them with me and we decided nitrous oxide was the best option for me. It was the perfect option for me, I’m so glad I did it. If I’d know it was going to be that easy, I would have done it a long time ago. From my initial phone call to my hygienist Lauren, the entire staff was fantastic, so understanding and welcoming. I never thought I would have a positive dental experience and I’m so happy to be proven wrong. I can’t recommend this place enough!

OMG. My first pain free cleaning. Stephanie was amazing! I have receding gums and exposed roots. I don’t know what was in that gel she put on my teeth but it was magic. No zingers! And the ultrasonic hydro cleaner was so much better than an hour of scraping. Add in the friendly staff and it was as good as it gets for a dental visit.

This is my first time at Five Pines Dental, and I absolutely will come back here! I was a little bit concern of coming to see the dentist because of the pandemic, so I called the front desk to get more information. The lady who I first talked to (I think her name is Leslie) was very nice and helpful. She assured me that they clean and sanitize all the areas every hour. All the dentists wear “3 layers of face protection” : N95, medical masks, and face shield. They also put on glove and apron on all the time during the procedure. Plus, they have HEPA air purifier in every room too. This definitely a plus and make me feel safer. The dentist I met with was Lauren. She is very professional and friendly! She answered all my questions and concerns. Every tool she used was clean directly after each use as well. As for Dr. Zeller, he is fantastic and super nice! I highly recommend this place and definitely comeback here for my next check up! P.S. They also gave you a care package before you leave. I found this very touching.

Loved my first visit to this practice! HIGHLY recommend to anxious/nervous patients. All of the staff were so friendly and welcoming and explained everything clearly. I saw Stephanie and she is fantastic – all the reviews are spot on! Totally rocks! Plenty of bike parking out front! Also appreciated the HEPA filters and attention to cleanliness during the pandemic. Looking forward to my next visit!

I’ve been to a few dentists in Portland, but I like these guys the most. Very peaceful environment, straight-talking hygienists and dentists, and heated massage chairs which make me feel a lot more calm during my cleanings. I haven’t had any dental work done, just cleanings, but the hygienist was gentle and easy to talk to. Parking is easy and validated in the KOIN garage.

I have been a patient at Five Pines since they opened. As the former Facility Manager of Big Pink, I got to know Richie while the clinic was being built out. Richie and his wife are two of the kindest people I have ever met, and they have built a clinic and a team that reflects that kindness. Even though I no longer work downtown, there is no way on earth I would consider another dentist or dental clinic. I look forward to seeing Richie and his team twice a year and I know I am getting exceptionally good care.

Never have dental anxiety again! The clean office is a warm welcome at Five Pines where they even give you coffee while you wait… what other dentist in town would do that? Stephanie is a joy to chat with while her fingers are in your mouth and their office staff is professional and friendly. Dr. Z is knowledgable and efficient, and I always look forward to my next appointment.

To those with dental anxiety or a fear of the dentist, say no more Fam: Five Pines? More like Five Stars. This place is seriously phenomenal. I have had a plethora of awful dentists in my time. I think we all know what I’m talking about. Constant guilt, “why don’t you just floss” or the “keep this up (only flossing a few days a week) and your teeth are gonna fall out” sort of scare tactics and vibes. The awful “TERRORS OF GINGIVITIS” posters and crest ad campaigns plastered on the walls as this passive aggressive “I’m not mad I’m disappointed” figure digs and scrapes your teeth and tells you to “suck it up” yeah, I honestly can’t stand most dentists. NOT THE CASE HERE. Immediately when you enter you feel an overwhelming sense of calm. The receptionist quietly and calmly greets you, as you are then directed to sit in the waiting room. The art on the walls is phenomenal, as well as all the reading material. The music played at the office is a calming indie variety that would even send the most hipstery hipster in Portland into a state of zen. Finally, the oral hygienists and the doctors are incredible. Never have I ever encountered such patient and patient centric individuals. “Let me know if this hurts, okay?” and “Whatever we can do to make you more comfortable” should be their catch phrase at this point. You can tell the staff and doctor really care about your experience. Their billing specialist/staff is also extremely friendly and they have a variety of ways to pay, even specials for those who aren’t insured. Which is incredible in and of itself. I thank the heavens that I was recommended by a colleague this dentist, because my overall health and dental hygiene have already vastly improved. I legitimately look forward to going to the dentist now, because instead of seeing it as an obligatory routine, I now see it as a form of self-care. Thank you so much, everyone at Five Pines. You’ve changed my dental hygiene life.

Who reviews and 5-stars a dentist? Me. This one time. Because Dr. Zeller (and his assistant Yulie) are amazing. I have had a few other assistants and they were very good too. Leslie is very helpful on the payment/financing end. I have never once felt the desire to recommend a dentist, but these folks are the best. 11/10 I recommend.

★★★★★

Great experience, very clean and friendly environment. Lauren and Yuliya are very friendly, they make the whole process feel comfortable. This is an outstanding office with top notch customer service. They will even figure out all the insurance stuff before you even get there. I had some questions about potential treatments for the future. When I was done with my cleaning Leslie had everything ready, with full descriptions of prices so I know exactly what is covered by insurance. Great dentist office definitely will return.

Kalei T. from Portland, OR (Source: Yelp)

Easy to schedule. They send you a link to get all your paperwork transferred over and established as a new patient. Very nice staff at reception. My hygienist was amazing. I’m a little jumpy at cleanings and this was by far the best. No pain, very fast and efficient. Dr. Zeller is great! He fixed a tooth that a prior dentist did not do well. Very happy to be a new patient here.

Trisha H. from Portland, OR (Source: Yelp)

Five Pines is the coolest dental office I have ever been to. During my visit Dr. Zeller spent plenty of time explaining my treatment plan and various options. He really is passionate about dentistry and made me feel very comfortable during my visit. Katherine was warm and inviting. She did an excellent job going over the financial aspects of my treatment plan. Brittany took the most painless X-rays I have ever had and was pleasure to be around. The office was beautiful. They even have free Coava coffee and great sounding music! I will definitely be coming back. I have finally found a dentist that I can trust. As strange as it may sound, I will be looking forward to my next visit for fillings.

Best experience I have ever had with a dental office hands down. I was recommended here by a coworker and got in quickly for a routine exam. The technology they use is stellar and I felt very well taken care of all around. They went above and beyond teaching me things (that I probably should already know haha) and I really appreciate the small details like the goodie bag at the end. Friendly staff that works hard to get your insurance costs pinned down before any other appointments are made. I’m going back in three months and I’m not even dreading it one bit 🙂 Highly recommend Five Pines to anyone.

I’ve been going here since they opened. The whole staff is great! Everyone is friendly and clearly communicates. Their whole setup is pretty high tech, from the iPads for medical forms, to the X-ray machines built into the walls between the rooms. The chairs are also quite comfortable. The office is easy to get to if you don’t have to worry about parking. And I’ve never waited more than a few minutes in their lobby before getting started (it may help that I always schedule my appointments in the morning). It’s right on multiple max and bus lines. All in all, every experience I’ve had here has been great (all 6 or so visits). I highly recommend this dental office!

I cannot say enough positive things about my dental experience at Five Pines Dental. Dr. Zeller explain each step without too much jargon and when he had to use jargon he explained that too. Isabel was wonderful when setting up the appointment and handling insurance. Brittany, who assisted Dr. Zeller, explained cost to me and checked in before doing anything that might be uncomfortable. I have been scared to go to the dentist in the past but I don’t think that will be the case with Five Pines and Dr. Zeller!!!

A WORD FROM YOUR DOCTOR

We specialize in convenient, efficient appointments - especially for those who live and work downtown. Our services include general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign, emergency care and sedation dentistry. Dr. Zeller's practice philosophy is to provide personalized care focused on a patient's overall health. He believes it's important for patients to understand all their options for treatment and then work collaboratively to find the best approach for their needs. I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. I went to school in the Midwest as well, I studied business and math at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri then went to dental school at The University of Missouri Kansas City. Growing up I loved building things and working with my hands. I went off to college focused on engineering but became more and more interested in healthcare. I ended up choosing dentistry which combined science, business and my love for mechanical problem solving. I really enjoy having a skill that helps people. I want to help my patients make informed decisions about their dental care. It used to be the doctor just told you what to do and patients weren’t really involved in the process. I think all of medicine is trending away from that. My goal as a dentist is for patients to understand all their options for treatment and then work collaboratively to find the best approach for their needs. I really liked the idea of giving people a quick and convenient place to get quality dentistry right where they’re already spending most of their day – at work! I enjoy being involved with my community and as a dentist you get to meet a lot of people and potentially help a lot of people. The people are great, food and beer are excellent, and I like having all the outdoor activities nearby. I also appreciate the climate and vegetation – everything grows well and suddenly I was such a good gardener! I have lots of hobbies that keep me busy. Mostly working in my woodshop, maintaining my ‘96 Jeep, beekeeping and gardening. My wife and I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, cooking and going on adventures with our daughter Ruth. Craftsmanship is very important to me as a person and a dentist. I love to make things and you can see some of my woodworking and concrete projects throughout the practice. I take a lot of pride in the things I create and I love that dentistry fits in with that so well.
