I have a lot confidence in Dr. Gregory. For me, having confidence is extremely important when it comes to health care professionals. Dr. Gregory has always been honest, and I get a calm feeling when it’s time for an examination and cleaning. Everyone one in the office is friendly, easy to talk to, and charismatic. The office itself is beautiful and that further contributes to the feeling of relaxation. It’s like you know you’re in good hands. I would definitely recommend Dr. Gregory to anyone for his high level of competence and professionalism, as well as his honesty and genuine personality.

review is a very long time coming. I’ve been going to Dr. Gregory for years – and if you are in the market for a new dentist, make an appointment immediately. To start – his office. It’s a beautiful, sophisticated space. May not seem that important, but it’s nice to walk into an enjoyable environment rather than some icky sterile and run-down space (that seems to go with dentist offices in general). Russ at reception is extraordinarily professional, competent and friendly. He goes out of his way to get you an appointment when you need it. And he takes the time to figure out (and “optimize”) issues with insurance. His dental hygenists are also amazingly professional, competent and friendly (a theme?). They make the cleaning as entertaining and tolerable as it can be. And while I only see them twice a year (luckily), everyone greets me by name – it’s a super comfortable atmosphere. Now – I am lucky that I don’t have major issues with my teeth. So I can’t attest to how he does root canals, or anything like that. But every time I see Dr. Gregory he is thorough with my exam and takes the time to talk me through issues and considerations. I had never, ever felt rushed – in fact, he totally takes the time to see how things are with me, to give me an update on what he’s been up to, and so on. Great choice.

Dr. Gregory is Awesome with a capital “A”. Over the years I have had a lot of dental work procedures from a variety of dentists- Dr. Gregory takes the cake. He is genuine, down to earth, and I feel like he truly cares about the best interest of his patients. His office is up to date on the most recent dental technology which is pretty sweet. Even crowns are made in his office right away! I have already recommended him to all my friends and co workers, so I thought it best to post this review 🙂 P.S. The staff at his office are also ALWAYS extremely helpful and friendly.

I have been going to Dr. Gregory for about 3 years. His office has the best view you can ask for while someone plys at your mouth. This was the best dental experience I have ever had. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and the office is hands down the most beautiful dentists office I have ever been to. Dr. Gregory is so warm and welcoming and puts you at ease right away. Dr Gregory runs an incredible operation. From the moment you enter until the time you leave, the patient’s comfort and needs are the focus of everything that transpires. All my procedures have been free of stress or pain…..and THIS coming from someone who once looked in the Yellow Pages and gravitated to a practitioner who billed himself as a ‘dentist for cowards.’ I highly recommend Dr Gregory’s office based on the knowledge and expertise not only of the dentist, but also of his hygenists and technicians. And the fact that the office is ‘paperless’ (all appointments, dental records and insurance forms are handled by computer) makes the experience efficient and seamless. Aesthetically, the design of the office is incredible. You barely know you’re in a dentist office. Tasteful decor, flat-screen panels in each exam room for the patient’s viewing pleasure and soothing music to calm your nerves. And the views of downtown SF from the 12th floor of 450 Sutter are spectacular. All these features contribute to a very positive patient experience. Dr Gregory’s concern for his patients extends not just to their dental health, but also to how your dental health might affect your overall health. I couldn’t ask for a better dentist or dental experience. I’ve had many dentists since I arrived in the Bay Area 30 years ago, but NONE like Dr Gregory. He is now my dentist for life.

Best care ever. Dr. Gregory is responsive, responsible, open and caring. He offers options, the staff are pleasant and always seem to remember my family, Marjan (hygienist) has a gentle touch and I am usually surprised by how quickly we are done when I have a cleaning. Would recommend these folks to anyone: worth the premium prices for premium service.

Hands down THE best dentist I’ve ever been to. Granted, I have only been to a handful in my life but Dr. James Gregory is everything you want in someone helping you protect your pearly whites. I have been seeing Dr. Gregory since the early 90s. I moved to San Diego for 10 years, but made it back to SF and Dr. Gregory. The stint in San Diego made me recognize how HARD it is to find an honest, pleasant and caring dentist. I have had extensive dental work – partial plate(car wreck) and a bridge(sports injury.) Dr. Gregory always gives me options, he explains the impact, cost and advantages for each and lets me decide. He works very well with insurance. He is very friendly and extremely competent. What I find most extraordinary is the ambience of his beautiful Office- ALL of the staff are very friendly and REALLY LIKE WORKING TOGETHER! The MUSIC is the BEST- Russ(Office Mgr) knows how to efficiently work with the insurance carriers and really works hard to get appointments that work with my schedule! Its an amazing Office and I always enjoy my check ups and dental work.

Dr. Gregory (actually I call him Jim) and his whole practice is awesome!!! I have been going to him since he first opened his practice (15 or so years ago?) I once switched dentists for a short while because I thought I should take advantage of the lame dental insurance my work offered. That was a nightmare! And I quickly switched back to Dr. Gregory, and will never leave again. First of all, Jim is a gentle, friendly, professional, perfectionist, which is exactly what you want in a dentist. He really knows what he’s doing, and I always feel completely confident that he will take care of my teeth as if they were his own. He will watch out for the future of your teeth, but would never recommend any work that isn’t necessary. He’s an artist in matching tooth color, and I am a big perfectionist when it comes to color – I am an artist and I teach a color class at community college. Everyone that works there is awesome, and you can tell that they love where they work too – they all seem happy and like a big family. All of the hygienists are really gentle and friendly and like to chat with me about what’s new. Russ, one of the office staff, has been with Jim for many years, and has that place in ship shape! He and all the office staff are super helpful and friendly. And, as other people have mentioned, the place is gorgeous! Tastefully designed with, granite counter tops, and a cool fish tank in the waiting room and a beautiful views of the city from every dentist chair room. They play great music – a selection recommendations from all the staff I think, which makes it current and personal, not elevator music. It’s all very relaxing, believe it or not.

This is definitely not your grandmother’s dental office (unless she is stylish and has excellent taste), but maybe it should be based on the talent level of Dr. Gregory and his crew. Great music, beautiful city-scape views and lack of annoying clipboard questionnaires is a welcoming experience. Dr. Gregory knows his stuff, and can have at my teeth anytime. I’m a life-er and am actually looking forward to my next visit.

Gorgeous views (both inside and outside the office windows :-), absolute professionalism and a generally upbeat youthful vibe define both Dr. Gregory’s, his office and staff. Unlike most doctor’s waiting areas, where your only options are nasty old dog-eared copies of Good Housekeeping from 1997, Dr. Gregory keeps his shelves well-stocked with the lastest issues of Dwell, Modern Architecture and People, to name a few. And each exam/treatment room has its only flat screen TV so you can zone out to “Legally Blond” while you’re getting your mouth poked and prodded. I don’t know too many people who look forward to going to the dentist, so this is about as good as it gets!

I am one of those people who loves going to the dentist. I love the oh-so-clean feeling you get when you leave. This makes the time I spend at Dr. Gregory’s even better than it already is. You step into this unbelievably well decorated, modern office. All the records are electronic (now that Y2K has passed, let’s move past the fear of electronic medical records, people), and is done with flat panel touch screens and wireless keyboards. For technophiles, there’s nothing better. Watch a DVD (Sex and the City, anyone?) with noise-cancelling headphones on your own flat panel TV while they work their magic. Walk out feeling like a million bucks…and refreshed.

I’ve been going to Dr. Gregory for the past 15 years and have had a ton of all kinds of dental work over the past 30 years. There’s no dentist who comes close to him in terms of skill, professionalism, having the latest and best equipment, the competence and kindness of his staff, and his personal touch and genuine caring. He has incredible integrity, never pushes extra procedures, takes the time to educate you about your dental health, and always goes the extra mile to make sure your comfortable and well informed about the work to be performed. Dr. Gregory is the best dentist by all accounts.

From the receptionists being so friendly and remembering me by name, to the dental assistant and hygienist being funny and informative, I LOVE this dentist. Plus, I had never had a filling before and all three (yes three) were done in 45 minutes PAINLESSLY. I love this dentist. Go there. Really.

Dr. Gregory's dental philosophy is more holistic and preventative which does actually include a cosmetic component. His concentration is in non-metal tooth colored restorative techniques such as porcelain and composite and one appointment crowns and onlays with CEREC 3D imaging. Dr. Gregory graduated from the University of the Pacific in 1989. Dr. Gregory is a member of the Society of Computerized Dentistry. “I am honored to have so many long term patients and appreciate their ongoing referrals. I hope we may be able to serve you too.”
