Dr. Mitchell is simply the best!  Experienced a dental emergency while visiting in San Francicso.  Dr. Mitchell was referred to me by a friend in the city stating she was, “simply the best in the city.”  That was an understatement!  If it were feasible, I’d change to her as my permanent dentist.  Not only was she beautiful, she was a consummate professional and paramount to all of that, she didn’t charge me anything for my emergency repair.  She stated she wanted my visit in the city to be a pleasant one and not be encumbered by my dental emergency.  How many times would one experience something like that Can’t say enough kind words for such a wonderful, talented dentist.  THANK YOU DR. MITCHELL! I’m so glad that my friend is your patient and referred me to you.

Dr Patricia was covering for Dr Mitchell while Dr Mitchell is on maternity leave. I was not surprised to find the same high level of care, concern and expertise from Dr Patricia who actually decided not to do a filling for a very small cavity and instead to wait on it. I am always amazed that this dentist office does not see patients’ mouths as a way to extract money but instead a key part of overall health. I have never loved a dentist as much as Dr Mitchell and am very pleased that even her backup dentist is just as knowledgeable, committed and skilled. I would highly recommend this caring team to anyone looking for a fantastic dentist- even the hygienists, technicians, and office staff are fantastic, personable and quick!

Everyone, If you have ever searched for the perfect dentist, search no further!  As an update (you will see a review from me over a year ago) I continue to find Dr. Mitchell (and the entire staff) a dream to work with….continuing a long story… broke a tooth in Mexico Jan of 2010 and ended up putting a crown on it late 2010 (my decision after long consultation with Dr. M), then ended up needing a root canal soon afterwards (as these things seem to happen in sequence some of the time).  Not fun, but pulled through. Aftewards, when visiting Dr. Mitchell for a regular cleaning….which is easy and almost fun due to her very effective equipment which is the latest on the market, Dr. Mitchell says…”oh, they had to drill through your crown to do the root canal and that is not the way I want it, so let’s replace the crown at no charge”.  Ok…if that is not proof that she is both fair, honest and cares…then call me crazy. Believe me, you won’t be dissapointed and their new office is very convenient and stylish to boot! Michael K.

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Dr Mitchell when I experienced a dental emergency while visiting San Francisco.  I found her to be the most personable, knowledgable and caring dentist that I have ever been treated by.  She went above and beyond in making me feel comfortable and to ease any nervousness that going to the dentist might bring.  She never charged me a dime stating she wished for my stay in San Francisco to be a good memory and IT WAS!  She is the epitome of outstanding not to mention beautiful!

I look forward to seeing my dentist every 6 months. Her staff is wonderful and very welcoming. I still remember a year ago, I was excited to see the dentist and on the same day I got laid off. Kimberly Mitchell was on maternity leave but her substitute dentist said sorry I was having a bad day and told me to sit back and relax because it will come to pass. (Obviously, it did.) Her words were just genuine. Thank you! As for Kimberly Mitchell and my teeth, I have had a few dentists before and her staff is by far the most skilled. I have never felt any discomfort while she was cleaning my teeth, and I have very sensitive gums. In the past, I remember gripping the chair while my teeth was cleaned. I have never had to do such things with her staff, and I get even better results. She is so detail oriented that every single slab of plaque and staining is removed. Her office also has the most up-to-date technology in ensuring the health of your teeth, and Kimberly has a very genuine and kind personality as well! I’ve never had any issues with insurance and payment. One time when I switched insurance, I forgot my card but her staff looked it up and called. Whoo! I always leave Kimberly Mitchell’s office feeling very well taken care of.

Dr. Mitchell has been the best dentist I have had so far. I had a bad experience with my previous dentists who for some reason I couldn’t trust. Every time I went to them I felt like they were trying to scare me into treatments that I didn’t “need”. They made it seem as if I had really bad teeth that needed some major work. I don’t disagree that I hadn’t paid enough attention in the past few years. But with Dr.Mitchell I don’t feel like a complete loser. She doesn’t oversell treatments, she’s pretty thorough as far as I can see and she’s very practical. She has a very soothing demeanor, her office and equipment is GREAT and super uptodate and importantly she doesn’t chat with you while she is drilling your teeth. Her staff is great, very polite and friendly, they remember me and that I prefer lunch time appointments since I come directly from office and make an attempt to find one for me without me having to haggle. And I can find convenient appointments with them within a 2-3 week timeframe which was a luxury I couldn’t afford with my previous dentists who seemed to be the BUSIEST dentists ever. I know that my review is more of a comparison between my good and bad experiences :). But I can wholeheartedly recommend Dr.Mitchell to anyone who is looking for a long term dentist. If I can I will never leave her practice.

Dr Kimberly Mitchell is amazing.  I don’t normally get around to writing reviews as have two young children that keep me very busy!  But after coming out of her practice a few days ago I felt so grateful that I had to make the time to do this. I am terrified of the dentist (give me childbirth any day) and Dr Mitchell and her assistants are wonderful.  For some reason anesthetic always takes forever to take effect on me and I feel some pain for a while and require lots of time and more injections.  Luckily Kimberly is very patient, understanding, and so reassuring. I still don’t love going to the dentist, but as I told Kimberly she can never leave me, as I can’t imagine going to anyone else now! So, I thoroughly recommend her and ‘Thank You’ Dr Mitchell!

FANTASTIC. Great care, attentive staff, honest assessment of dental health. I left my last dentist after I went from “prefect dental health” to deep pockets, new cavities and 3 fillings needing replacement in 6 months time…it just happened to coincide with the economic downturn. 3 years later, I’ve still yet  to have any work recommended by Dr. Mitchell. Her staff is top notch, the office is comfortable and Dr. Mitchell has a great bed side manner.

I love Dr. Mitchell. She really is the best. She’s so nice and calm and takes time to answer all of my questions. She also walks you through everything she’s about to do and while she’s working, she frequently “checks-in” with me to make sure I’m comfortable. The last time I was there (to have a cavity filled), while we were waiting for my mouth to go numb, she even went out to the waiting room, picked up a magazine, and brought it to me. She’s so considerate. She really does have your interest at heart. I’ve read everyone else’s review and agree with their comments: She’s professional, personable, “best-dentist-I’ve-ever-been-to”, careful, knowledgeable, etc.   I can’t sing her praises enough!

My coworker referred me to Dr. Mitchell and I am so glad I came in! I generally love going to the dentist, and Dr. Mitchell was approachable and very professional. I have to commend the dental assistant (Asian lady), who was so friendly and knowledgeable. She did a great job scaling my teeth — they looked so much whiter afterward. I also appreciate her for making the teeth x-ray process so quick and painless. Very easy to make appointments and as long as I’m in the city, I will continue to see Dr. Mitchell for all my dental needs.

I don’t have a fear of dentists per se but my gums have a fear of getting nicked.  I was referred to Dr. Mitchell from a co-worker who did have a fear of dentists so I decided to give her a try. This was actually my second visit and I figured I should probably give her a review since I really like her office.  However on my first visit when I was filling out the paperwork, I realized I lost my insurance card but since I had 2 co-workers already using her services they took the time to lookup my information for me.  They do email and text reminders which is great for folks like me who constantly forget stuff.  In fact this was a reschedule because when they called to confirm my last appointment, I had the wrong date listed on my calendar.  They were easy going about setting up this new appointment rather than giving a disapproving tone because of my screwup. As far as the 2nd visit went, I was seen within a minute or 2 of arriving.  The hygenist was friendly and asking about any dental concerns including one I brought up at the last visit, which shows me she actually reviewed my file before seeing me.  I also inquired about a new nightguard and by the end of my cleaning they already had my insurance info on it and my total out of pocket cost should I choose to get one.  BTW the hygenist works fast but never once did she nick my gums 🙂 Everyone is warm, friendly and caring.  Every step of the way they take the time to make sure you’re comfortable and explain what they will be doing so you understand the process.  Overall my experience shows me they value my time as much as theirs, they care about their patients as people, not just another file and I’ve never felt that they are trying to sell you something you don’t need.

I’ve been meaning to write a review for so long, I can’t believe I’ve forgotten to write it! I’ve had thousands of dollars worth of dental work done on my teeth in my life time and have been to many different dentists and have had mostly OK experiences, and a couple of horrendous ones. Dr. Mitchell is one of the two best dentists I have ever been to, on many levels. She is super professional, personable, knows her stuff, and doesn’t recommend unnecessary work. It’s also cool that she does the cleaning herself, so that she is really seeing what is going on with your teeth. They take insurance and do the billing! Read what everyone else says, it’s all true.

I called Dr. Mitchell’s office on Thursday.  They had a cancellation and gave me an appointment for a cleaning the following Wednesday (less than a week to wait!).  I was thrilled.  I think I made some sort of giddy noise like “Squeeee!”. The staff member on the phone must have thought I was nuts.  But she didn’t treat me like I was crazy. She was friendly on the phone, and friendly in person.  I got there and filled out the “new patient” forms.  And Dr. Mitchell’s assistant asked if it was OK if they contacted my previous dentist to get old xrays.  That’s right.  You heard me correctly.  They didn’t try to do extra stuff that didn’t need to be done just because my insurance would cover it (which it would have). In a time when we are having a health insurance crisis, and costs are CRAZY expensive because MDs and DDSs and DOs are doing unnecessary procedures, it is nice to meet someone who DIDN’T.  Anyways, Dr Mitchell was really nice.  And my teeth are squeeky clean.  And she didn’t ask to do unnecessary xrays.  And the office is pretty (which isn’t really that important, but doesn’t hurt).

I was looking for a new dentist and Kimberly was recommended to me by a co-worker. I must say – she and her staff are spectacular! I could not be happier to have found her. I’ve been to her office twice now and I love the way it’s run. They give you the costs upfront, everything runs on time, the staff is very knowledgeable, and there is a great energy to the place. If you are looking for a new dentist, look no further. Kimberly is your woman! Thank you so much, Kimberly!!!!  Brandi.

I’ve never necessarily dealt with a “bad dentist” per se, but it was at Dr. Mitchell’s office that I had my very first cavity fillings and deep cleaning. I could not have asked for a better place to endure some otherwise nasty procedures. They offered to let me listen to music through earphones during the procedures. Afterward, they were concerned about how I’d get home (post Valium and anesthesia doses) even though my apartment is only 2 blocks away, so the hygienist insistently volunteered to escort me. I definitely wasn’t expecting that. Later in the week, they even squeezed me in for a last minute filling shave since my filling was a bit higher than the rest of my teeth (which is difficult to judge while you’re numb during the first appointment). No charge for a visit or anything either. They were also on my side when my insurance didn’t do s-h-i-t for me. These guys are simply the best.

I have been a patient of Dr. Mitchell’s for almost two years and have to admit that she is one of the best dentists I have ever had.  Believe me, I have had many through my 43 years as I consider a perfect smile is important.  She knows what she is doing and after referring about 6 people to her, she has an overwhelming thumbs up from all of us. One story that shows what kind of dentist she is happened when I returned from a trip to Mexico and cracked a tooth…what a pain.  I immediately was able to get in to see Dr. Mitchell (who stayed and skipped her lunch for me) and was told that we only need to bond it for now and see how it goes.  I truely believe any other dentist would have put me through a crown process and it would have cost me a great deal even with my insurance plan. Gotta say, honesty seems to be her way of doing business!

I have been very impressed with the skill and attitude at this office. Dr. Mitchell and her colleagues are all very friendly, gentle and thorough. They are also happy to answer all your questions and explain insurance and costs simply and respectfully. I had a very pleasant cleaning and came back for a new filling – they explained what they were doing and allowed me to watch (if you are into that sort of thing). They were also concerned about my wisdom teeth (which have grown in and impacted during the 2-3 years I wasn’t receiving dental care), and referred me to an office that has so far been very thorough, helpful and friendly. Dr. Mitchell’s staff doesn’t do anything without finding out the cost to you, and they even offered to refund me fully if it turned out I didn’t need the new filling (but I did, as there was decay inside the tooth). Also great conversationalists (for a dental exam situation) and lovely bedside manner.

I haven’t been going to this practice for very long, but in the 3 visits I’ve had – I’ve been pretty pleased with the quality of service and patient empathy. My initial experience was with Dr. Summerfelt for an emergency crown when I had to get a root canal retreatment. I went to another endo to get the retreatment to find out that my crown was faulty. Through a friend, I heard about Kimberly Mitchell’s practice and was able to get a quick appt with Dr. Summerfelt. Within a two weeks I had a new crown. While I was a little confused with the financial side of things and whether or not I should I receive a post or not… Dr. Summerfelt and team got me in and out and treated me with so much care. I really appreciated that! I recently (yesterday) went in for a cleaning and got to meet Dr. Mitchell for the first time. I was a little nervous because of my dental history and because of the COVID pandemic, but the hygenist (I wish I got her name) was so delightful, calming, and gentle. She brought in Dr. Mitchell towards the end – and what a wonderful human! She was quickly able to give me some next steps to get my bite looked at. I really love the level of care Dr. Mitchell, Dr. Summerfelt, and staff provided and I’m looking forward to continuing my dental care with them. 🙂

Like some of the other reviewers, I had a dentist-phobia and as a result hadn’t actually seen one in many years. After deciding to finally use my dental benefit that I had been paying for from my employer, I did some Yelp searching and came across Dr. Mitchell with 5 stars.  I decided to give it a shot and made at appointment.  I was dreading the first appointment for fear that I’d be told I’d need root canals, cavities filled, implants, and the whole works since I hadn’t seen a dentist in so long. The initial visit went really well and I had since gone back for a 2-session deep clean.  Dr. Mitchell has a great bed-side manner.  She explains everything thoroughly before she does them and makes sure the patient is completely comfortable before proceeding with anything.  This sort of transparency and honesty is what I value most in a doctor, best describing Dr. Mitchell. I also never felt like I got sold on procedures that were not necessary (needing a cavity filled, etc.).  I am definitely going back and would highly recommend her.

I just noticed that my review that I created about a year ago has disappeared from the site somehow 🙁 However I would like to create a new one and hopefully it will stay 🙂  I would like to say Thank you! to Dr. Mitchell and everyone who works in her office for great care and the way they treat their patients! Dr. Mitchell has done great job on my teeth and I really appreciate her care. I was afraid of dentists all my life but apparently not anymore 🙂 She even saved one tooth from doing root canal and I’m so glad she did. Thank you once again!!!!

It was my first time meeting Dr. Mitchell today and I couldn’t wait to get home and write a review about her. I hated dentists and had bad experiences with them. You know that icky feelings you have when you enter a dentist office and sit on a dentist chair waiting for that dreading treatment and the dentist to tell you that your teeth need tons and tons of treatment?! NO, NOT this time!! Also, you know what?! For the FIRST time in my dental experience, my dentist was on time in getting me into with my scheduled appointment!! I was impressed!!. Anyway, Dr. Mitchell is very nice to me. She made feel comfortable while cleaning my teeth herself while other dentists I have been to never did that. Dr. Mitchell is gentle, friendly, and down to earth. She is knowledgeable and appeared to know her stuff. Her staff is also nice. I felt like I have been going to her forever although it was my first time. I couldn’t stop talking about her and my dental experience with her. I have scheduled 2 other appointments with Dr. Mitchell for another treatment, and I cannot wait for my teeth to get cleaned and better!! She is awesome! As good as dentist can get!

Since original review I’ve been in to have some fillings replaced. First positive was that they ran the insurance well advance of the appointment, so they could tell me exactly how much I would be on the hook for.  Nice not only to know that up front, but to be able to pay up front and not have to be billed later on. To the actual appointment, the procedure went great.  Unlike previous dentists (in other towns) she waited sufficiently long for the Novocaine to set in before getting the drill out.  Everything went smoothly and she did a great job of explaining each step. Dr. Mitchell and all the staff was once again very friendly.

Barbara S. from San Diego, CA (Source: Yelp)

Kimberley is great, the receptionists are super nice, the cleanings are thorough without being agonizing, and I’ve had less cavities than ever since I’ve started going here. They take a super thorough x-ray process on your first visit, but then you only get basic xrays once a year as usual. I used to HATE the dentist, but these ladies know what they’re doing.

I was in SF for a year and had the best possible experience with Dr. Mitchell. I had a previous dentist who put a very deep filling in and it ended up touching the nerve. I feel like most dentists would have jumped to a root canal because I was in so much pain, but she took the time in “nursing” my tooth back to normal. She used some old school ginger filling remedy and soon enough, my tooth was feeling better. Although I ended up going about 3-4 times to check the progress of the tooth, she was so wonderful each time, explained what was happening and gave me all the possible scenarios of what might happen. If I could take her to Colorado with me I would. I highly recommend Dr. Mitchell to anyone interested in a quality dentist.

I try not to give out too many five star ratings, but given I’m a nervous dental patient and how well this visit went – five stars is appropriate! No scolding for not having been to the dentist in a *very* long time (and yes, I deserved a scolding).  No over-eagerness to do any procedures.  Just a concerted effort to understand me as a patient, identify my needs, and get me the right treatments.  The staff was also super nice, super patient – it really felt like a team effort and that everyone was on the same page with my dental care. First impressions are pretty important, and this one has convinced me to come back again.  Thanks, Dr. Mitchell-Sorensen & Company!

Dr. Mitchell is by far and away the best dentist that I have ever had!  Rather than dreading the dentist, I don’t mind going at all.  She is very friendly, and truly a high-class professional in her field. Not only is she excellent when it comes to routine dental maintenance/work, she is an amazing cosmetic dentist as well.  After a couple of routine visits, I told her that I was always interested in veneers, but did not know much about them other than being expensive. After an exam, she thought I’d be a perfect candidate for veneers and suggested we try getting it approved by my insurance provider – and turns out it was!  I couldn’t believe it, and after just two painless 2-hour sessions, I had a beautiful new smile!  I owe Dr. Mitchell quite a lot of gratitude for giving me a beautiful, perfect smile!

Just got back from an appointment. I had to take my 3 month old with me and was pretty worried she would just cry then whole time. All of the staff was amazing and so accommodating. I felt completely at ease while getting my filling and was able to hold her the entire time. This was one of the best dentist experiences I’ve had in a long time. Cleanings are fast and efficient. Referrals have been great.

I’ve been to many dentists in S.F., in New York, in Boston, In Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, and even in Beijing, but I now have a new favorite in Dr. Mitchell. The entire experience, from my first conversation with the Marilyn Monroe voiced asst. receptionist, to the friendly office manager, to the dental assistant and then to the very professional and very personable Dr. Mitchell. I needed to fill a cracked tooth. She didn’t try to talk me into a crown and was entirely understanding of my financial constraints. The novacaine was the perfect amount and for the first time in years I have no post-dentalwork pain. I don’t know what magic she commands but it works. I’ve already made an appointment for two crown replacements and over-hearing a cancellation I nabbed the appointment for a German friend who ‘s comment was “exactly how I imagined my perfect dentist experience!” Yelp guided me to Dr. Mitchell and I hope I can help someone else in their quest for the ideal dental experience!!!!!!!

I’m a recent SF transplant in need of an implant and really struck out with some other dentists but am so glad I found Dr. Mitchell. The office was very nice, Dr. Mitchell has an amazing bedside manner, you can tell the staff are happy and like their jobs. They also have digitized records imagine that. in 2012 San Francisco. These other dentists need to get it together and take some hints from Dr. Mitchell. (Note: One drawback is that she’s pretty booked — make an appointment quite a ways in advance).

I’ve been seeing Dr. Mitchell for a number of years, and it’s thanks to her for spotting a long-standing issue that I was able to resolve and really have a much better time managing my teeth. Dr. Mitchell is very friendly and clearly cares a lot about her patients, and is always ready and available to answer any questions that you have. She’s very friendly and is always genuinely interested in what you’re up to. I’ve had to pop in for quick sessions day-of before, and the office is often able to accommodate them in a pinch. The staff, for the most part, takes great care to make sure that their patients are comfortable and feel good about their teeth. As a whole, though, I really always hated going to the dentist when I was younger, and Dr. Mitchell has always delivered a really pleasant and positive experience. I recommend her to all of my friends and hope to keep coming here for some time.

I am new to the area and originally tried to make an appointment with Dr. Rivas (due to rave reviews on Yelp) but I needed to see a dentist soon so I ended up booking with Dr. Mitchell in the same office. Dr. Mitchell was incredibly sweet and did a fantastic job cleaning my teeth. She made sure I was comfortable throughout my visit. Probably the best clean I’ve had all around. I love that she cleans her patients teeth herself. Best of all, she didn’t try and push any procedures or x-rays on me. I was comfortable the entire time and would recommend her to anyone, especially anyone who may be fearful of seeing a dentist. I will continue to see Dr. Mitchell!!.

Like most normal people, I hate going to the dentist.  Which means when I go, I’m nervous and dread the inevitable lecture concerning the need for more regular check-ups, the importance of flossing and the need to better brush my back teeth. My recent visit to Dr. Mitchell, however, was great.  I was very comfortable and received appropriate reminders, but no lectures. Perhaps more importantly, she did a great job. For example, she found and removed a small piece of glue that had remained on one of my front teeth after my braces were removed, which was more than fifteen years ago.  I have probably been seen by 4 other dentists during that time, and none of them noticed it.  And I sure wish they would have.  For over fifteen years, that small piece of glue caused undue embarrassment.  For some strange reason, bean skin from Taco Bell bean burritos would inevitably get caught on that small piece of glue, sticking to my tooth like a brown sheath. And we’re not talking about a small piece.  Oh no.  It was the skin of the whole friggen bean.  I didn’t always notice it was there, meaning I had to endure people pointing it out.  Until my recent visit to Dr. Mitchell, I had no idea why that took place.  Now, my teeth are clean and bean skin free following Taco Bell visits.

I just recently switched to Dr. Mitchell and couldn’t be happier.  She was thorough, gentle, informative, and on time for the appointment (which is a big plus in my book.) She explained to me exactly what she was doing and priced out the different options with the insurance while I was on the chair so that I could make an informed decision.  Best of all, she kept telling met that if for any reason I was unhappy with anything,  it was no big deal to come back to her and she would adjust whatever I needed.  She definitely deserves 5 stars.

Dr. Mitchell is awesome! I went today for a routine cleaning and check up. The hygienist (I think Eileen was her name) was friendly, knowledgeable, personable and gentle with the cleaning. Then the doc came in and was very friendly and seemed genuinely glad to meet a new patient. She explained that everything looked good and walked me through my x-rays. It was refreshing to go to a dentist without them pushing additional things on you. My last check up (with a different dentist) involved the dentist trying to sell me on tooth sealant (I don’t even know what that means). It was so nice to hear that everything looked good and to keep on keeping on!

This entire office is warm and inviting.  I had a great experience with Kimberly.  She is knowledgable, attentive and SOOOOOOOOO personable.  I’ve been to dentists on the East Coast (Miami, NY, NJ, NC) and she is by far the best I’ve ever had.  You feel at ease around her and can ask her questions and get straight answers.  She will not try to sell you on services that you don’t need ( unlike some other dentists in SF!! ) The hygienist Marjan is excellent as well.  This is the first cleaning in a long time that has been painless.  Often they poke and prod and it’s so uncomfortable.  But you don’t get that here-kudos to Marjan!  I ‘m going to recommend them to everyone. Keep up the great work ladies!.
