Quick to tell you that this is the place to be!!! Dr. O’Brien and his entire staff are too amazing! The first day I went there, I randomly called a few places as I was ready to lose my head because I was in so much pain. They took me in that day and I was out in the next hour feeling blessed due to his work. Months later which lead to today, I am at work and most people at work are shocked because I had 3 teeth pulled and a root canal done yesterday. I’m only made it to work because he and his staff are too good! I didn’t feel any pain during this process and I mean no pain! It’s mind blowing that I made it to work. Do I feel sore? Sure just a tad and I really want to go exercise after work, however, the Dr said for me to take it easy (lol). What was shocking, he, himself, called me today to see how I am feeling. Easily, I would’ve thought the staff would’ve made that call but it was the Dr and that’s what caused me to write this beautiful review. If you’re reading this, it’s simple, this is your sign, go to Dr. O’Brien so he and his staff can take care of you as well!

WOW is all I can say….DR. O’Brian and his staff are phenomenal! I’d give more stars if I could…. for starters, they accepted me last minute as a new patient on a Friday at 4 o’clock when most others were closed. His staff was very friendly, helpful and informative and made sure my mother (who got stuck taking me there while I was visiting her) was aware that there were snacks and drinks available in the mini-fridge while she waited which wasn’t long. I had a tooth extraction which, as the doctor explained, was like removing three screws without the screw heads present. He was done in 10 minutes. And on my way out the door the nurse gave me a long stem rose which I have to my mom! Today is the following day… the anesthetic has worn off and still no pain whatsoever! Thank you doctor O’Brien!

After retirement, I found myself in a situation in which I needed to change dentists to better take advantage of the benefits provided in my new dental plan. My first need was a replacement for a cracked crown. In some ways I was blessed because that particular crown was not a good fit. There was too much space left between it and the tooth behind it and I had almost continuous instances of irritated,inflamed gums as a result. Dr O’Brien did a great job. The first crown delivered did not fit well and he suggested that create a new mold and order a replacement. I agreed and when the next crown arrived it was tight, but he and his assistant patiently sanded it until it was a perfect fit. I’ve had the crown for several months now and what a relief it has been to have a new crown that fits as well as my original tooth. I didn’t think that it was possible. Don’t settle for poor dental work. If you have discomfort of any kind, that is not normal and you need to find a new dentist. I am very grateful that Dr O’Brien is such a perfectionist. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a skilled, caring dentist with a fantastic office team.

Our entire family (of 6) goes to La Mesa Family Dentistry and are very pleased with the dentistry and over the top level of customer service. Everyone from the office manager to the assistants to hygienists and dentist are all friendly, accommodating and professional. Dr. O’Brien does a great job communicating with his patients and is very detail oriented. We recently brought our two year old in for an introductory visit and she doesn’t do well with many people. He and Kristine (assistant) did a fabulous job patiently and gently familiarizing her with the office and tools and her response was like none I’ve ever seen before. She was calm and and relaxed and had fun……AT THE DENTIST! Our six year old loves the dentist and looks forward to visits. I miss Dr. Bolam (whom he took over for) but I’m grateful to have found a dental office that we trust and like as well!

I’ve seen Dr. O’Brien and his team three times in the last two months to catch up on some missed dental service while I was overseas and so I’ve experienced every aspect of their care. From the front desk to the annual dental cleaning, to the restorative dental surgery, it has all been the best I’ve ever had. Up until recently I had seen a dentist every six months of my life and moved around many many times, so I have a lot to compare them to. Honestly… the BEST dental care I’ve ever had. Front Desk – amazing service, always informed and ready for me when I come in. Double and triple checks my insurance and payment info to save me every single penny! Semi-Annual Cleanings- I’ve never felt like my teeth had ever been that clean. The hygienist is amazing. The front desk tells me that her other clients that have moved away, still plan there dental cleanings around when they can vacation back in San Diego and see her. I understand why! Dr. O’Brien and the dental surgery – Great bedside manner and explains everything before he does anything. Takes extremely detailed pictures of before/during/after the procedure on each tooth, then reviews each with you and takes the time to answer all of your questions. You never feel rushed. But the most important thing that everyone worries about with dental care: NO PAIN. They make sure you are comfortable and relaxed. When they are with you, you’re their number one concern… no rush… no hurry… only great care. I can’t recommend this dental office enough. Don’t hesitate to see them.

Tuesday morning after the Memorial Day holiday weekend, my boyfriend and I appeared at the door of Dr. O’Brien’s office without an appointment at the minute it opened.  My boyfriend experienced a toothache over the weekend that developed into a full blown infection.  His face had swollen up like a balloon and he had been in significant pain as well as distress over the swelling literally all night the night before.  Dr. O’Brien’s schedule was already full, but he and his wonderful staff made time for my boyfriend right away.  The entire staff was friendly, welcoming, re-assuring and professional.  Two hours later, boyfriend was on his way home (albeit without the offending tooth) to rest and sleep.  Dr. O’Brien personally called him later that day to check up on him.  I am personally petrified of the dentist, but I was so comfortable in Dr. O’Brien’s office that I will soon be making my own appointment before I have my own emergency.  THANK YOU SO MUCH La Mesa Dentistry and Dr. O’Brien for your excellent patient care.

From the moment you walk in until the time you leave, you will be comforted that you are in the best hands!    Dr. O’Brien explains procedures, techniques and processes very well. Overall, he is an excellent communicator.  He is very kind, patient and gentle, too.  He has a great sense of humor.  The hygienists and assistants are wonderful, as well.  Everything I have experienced here has been amazing!  The office staff is very kind and caring—just like Dr. O’Brien!!

Dr. O’Brien is exactly the dentist you want: skilled, experienced, young, attends professional conferences to keep up with the latest; and he is patient, pleasant, & gentle. During exams or work, he explains what he is doing just enough so you don’t sit there and wonder, “How long will this take?” or “What is he doing now?” And he asks how you’re doing as he goes along. When my wife sent a note to him about replacing a visible filling between her top, front teeth, he called to answer all of her concerns. Also, hygienist Nataliya has just the right touch. And the office staff is nice.

We have received amazing dental service today for our whole family, 2 adults and 1 child age 5. The whole staff was so kind and patient before, during and after all the appointments and so informative as they explained the treatments and answered all my questions along the way. Thank you La Mesa Family Dentistry for all your hard work and accommodations to take care of my family and our tooth health.

Our family relocated in the past couple of years and transferred our dental care from an excellent provider in the Bay Area to Dr. O’Brien’s team in La Mesa. We were initially concerned about obtaining the same level of care at the new location. However, the entire family is very happy with Dr. O’Brien and his team. They are a friendly, detailed, efficient and skilled group. We appreciate all their care of our dental needs. The office is highly recommended!
