I got some Christmas chocolates as an office gift last year. Bit into one, which was very heavy on the caramel, and then I started crunching on something. I thought it was just a nut. I almost swallowed it! What was it? It was a tooth! Yikes! Scared, I started searching online for how often this happens. At my age, this starts to happen a lot, unfortunately. I had nightmares about losing all of my teeth this way; I never understood it when others talked about nightmares about their teeth falling out. For 1 month, I had to eat only on the side of my mouth, before I managed to get in to Lumia Dental to receive a zirconia crown. At first, it felt a bit loose and I was still only chewing on one side of my mouth. I vowed I’d wait a year to give a review; (see how the crown holds up). I’m happy to say: It’s a year later, and the crown has held up very well. It feels very much like a replacement tooth and I have no doubt it will last a good decade or longer. I’m very happy both with the price and also with the comfort of the cap.

I ordered a nightguard with Lumia Dental and had some issues fitting it into my mouth since its new to me. They were super accommodating and nice about making a new one. It did fit, but my mouth may be too small, so I am clenching a bit more causing some tooth or gum pain. They were super nice and brought me back in to check on the teeth and make a new one to adjust and lessen the pressure. I am picking it up next week, hopefully this solves the issue! I really love a doctor that takes the time to make sure we are okay and that it fits what we need and are comfortable with. I switched jobs and was looking for a dentist in the Financial District. After asking around Dr. Han came highly recommended by multiple people. I discovered Lumia Dental by chance. I had an emergency back in March with a permanent retainer that partially detached and was cutting into my tongue. I walked to 460 Broadway looking for my old dentist and I was directed to the 10th floor by the building receptionist. When I arrived at the office I discovered that this was not my old dentist’s office. I quickly apologized and turned back to leave, only to be warmly greeted and invited to stay. Everyone was very welcoming and Dr. Han offered to glue the retainer back to my teeth. Ten minutes later the retainer was glued back and I felt very relieved. Dr. Han treated me without asking for a payment and she waited for me to send her my insurance information once I got home. My experience with Dr. Han was very positive and I decided to have her be my permanent dentist. I wouldn’t trust anyone else.

I had a slight dental emergency and LUMIA dental and Dr. Han saw me immediately which I greatly appreciated. My first contact with them was on the phone and everyone I ever spoke to was polite and highly efficient which is always a great sign. The procedure was done with great care. Coming from someone who has a massive fear of the dentist (don’t we all?), my experience with Dr. Han was nothing short of amazing. I had been told by my regular dentist that I had a cavity that needed filling, but could not be seen prior to the end of the month. I decided to book at Lumia with Dr.Han and I am not disappointed! After explaining my deep fear of the drill, Dr.Han took her time to fully numb me and checked in with me throughout the procedure to ensure I was doing okay. To my pleasant surprise – I did not feel any pain! Bonus points: they handed me the remote at the beginning of my appointment to select a show on Netflix to distract me. All in all, a 10/10 experience and I’d highly recommend their practice for all your dental needs!

Today, was my second visit to Lumia Dental. I was extremely nervous about the visit given I needed to have two cavities filled. After going to Lumia Dental the first time in November decided this would be where I go for my dental care. This time I learned a few important things from Dr. Hahn. The posture a dentist has and how they relate to a patient is everything. When Dr. Hahn started to drill I felt some pain. Dr. Hahn immediately stopped and gave me more anesthesia. Dr. Hahn listened to me which helped me relax. Dr. Hahn also told me she understands why I have not had good experiences at the dentist previously. Given I have a lot of decay and my nerves are exposed my mouth is very sensitive. Dr. Hahn answered all my questions, I felt relaxed in the chair and feel I made a good decision in choosing Lumia Dental for my oral care.

Found this place through my insurance to be my new dentist for simple semi annual cleanings So glad I found this spot, not only is it convenient, which is one of my number one requirement, the staff is super friendly, clean lobby where you can have coffee and water (not sure who would have coffee before or after a cleaning tho!), you get to watch Netflix while they clean (why did I choose friends, it was hard to not laugh while they cleaned away) I will be a permanent customer/patient until this location is not convenient for me. Highly recommend Dr Han! My four year old crown from another dentist fell out, and it never really fit right and food would often get stuck inbetween. Let’s be totally honest, no one likes going to the dentist. It is simply low on our list of things that we have to do. If you have to go to the dentist, Lumia Dental is the place to go. I’ve been going here for three years now and I always have such an amazing, easy experience. The staff is so warm and welcoming the second you walk in the door. I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait longer than 2 minutes to be seen. Their exam rooms are so clean and they each have TV screens and Netflix so you can put on whatever you fancy. Cleanings are quick and efficient. Dr. Han is so professional and friendly, she takes the time to answer all your questions and truly cares about her patients. So…if you’re looking for a new dentist, stop looking and go see Dr. Han. I was running late for my first appointment and fully expected to have to re-schedule. Nope – I walked in to a bright, clean, inviting office space, they offered me an espresso(?!), and they saw me right away. Then, I was taken back to the exam room where I had a big screen tv with Netflix to watch while waited/had my teeth cleaned. Again..(?!). The staff, dental assistant, and especially Dr. Han were kind, explained every detail, it was clear my comfort level and understanding of what was happening in my mouth was important to them. I haven’t had bad dental experiences, but I’ve never been to a dentist that was so keen to make sure I had a stellar patient experience. It is abundantly clear that this practice has taken the time to think about their presentation, office environment, and the overall dental visit experience. I am grateful to have found Dr. Han. Dr. Han is an AMAZING dentist. I have some sensitivity and apparently some resistance to novocaine but Dr. Han did a great job of minimizing the pain to a very manageable level (and I’m a big baby so this is a big accomplishment). Dr. Han is also VERY communicative and over explained everything to me to ensure that I was comfortable. I always find the dentist somewhat stressful but I’m grateful I found Dr. Han. The front staff is always very helpful and organize (and funny). The admin portion of the visits are very quick, clear and communicated very well. Lastly, my dental hygienist, (or the person who does my cleanings) is very gentle and thorough. She is very friendly and a joy to be around!

Updating my review post COVID. For anyone looking for reviews after the opening, here it is. Still great! Even better. Michelle Han has always had great bed side manner, I’m starting to think she’s got a little file on all of us! She remembers a lot, as does her employees. In terms of cleanliness, they have am air purifier/sanitizer in each room, two in the waiting area and one giant hospital grade to sanitize in between patients. I’m not worried going there for my cleaning. Still my forever dentist I love my hygienist, Monica too!

If you’re skeptical, all the five stars are the real deal! This was my third cosmetic dentist experience in NYC. I’ve visited two other doctors in NYC who also had 5 star reviews, but the cosmetic work was subpar and I left feeling just as uncomfortable with my smile – causing me to get a consult at Lumia Dental (third time is a charm!). My experience with Dr. Han far surpassed others; she clearly takes pride in her work and making sure her patients are 110% happy. She did beautiful cosmetic work, but also seemed genuinely interested in my feedback throughout the process, to ensure I felt not just good but great about the final product. She was meticulous about color matching to make sure everything looked natural but improved, which was a pain point for other dentists. She also provided a number of cost options and helped me evaluate the best option based on what was important to me. Dr. Han managed to do all this while exuding patience and completing my appointments quickly. I could go on and on, BUT if you’re looking cosmetic work, I would absolutely recommend Dr. Han. Her staff is also really friendly & helpful when it comes to understanding upfront costs/insurance/payment options. Can’t thank them enough.

The office is super clean and in the wake of COVID they’ve taken enhanced measures to ensure the safety of everyone. My partner and I usually see Dr. Donohue and he is thorough, competent and warm. Booked an appointment w/ Lumia Dental but missed it due to my own poor scheduling. The front desk associates were extremely understanding and assisted me with the reschedule no problem. Upon arriving to the office I was pleasantly greeted, enjoyed a very nice office music playlist, and was offered water while I had the SHORTEST wait every before I was called back. The visit gets even better from this point on. I was assisted by Phillip as he made me comfortable while taking x-rays and photos of my mouth. We turned on Netflix and laughed over Moesha while taking care of business. Once that was done we were joined by Dr. Markelle Smith to perform my cleaning and general check up. At this point I became extremely comfortable as we talked, laughed, shared stories all while cleaning my teeth lol. My experience was awesome from start to finish. As I checked out and scheduled my follow up appointment the front desk associates did something that has never been done for me before. They went over the cost of my next visit. It blew my mind because medical visits are usually a gamble on how much you’ll pay out of pocket. I usually just wait till the bill comes. Dr. Michelle Han received her dental doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and completed her residency training at Monmouth Medical Center where she served as Chief Resident. She is an expert in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, and has presented cases of advanced digital dentistry at national level. Dr. Han is widely regarded for her gentle approach while delivering beautiful clinical results. Dr. Han is the mother of two boys who have been flossing their teeth every night since the age of two. She enjoys traveling, surfing, working out, biking around the city, and spending time with her family and friends.
