I had never been to Dr. Tchoi before. Dr. Tchoi phoned me the morning of my appointment to let me know that he was “out of network” for my insurance. He gave me an estimate of my out of pocket cost and I felt I could handle it. He charged me exactly what he had stated. Interestingly, I found him at the front desk both at the beginning and the end of my appointment. I’ve never seen a doctor or a dentist at the front desk before. He Never left the procedure room once we had started, however. Very fast, very professional, very good up to the minute tooth scanning software.

He talked me through options for treatment of two different concerns I had; he made sure to accurately quote what my insurance would cover so I could make a decision I would be comfortable with prior. They created a night guard for me that was completed quickly and has held up better than any other I’ve had in years. His staff is flexible with booking appointments and communicative with any changes or updates, sending text notifications in advance and reminders. His team are very gentle when cleaning your teeth, which is always a plus as well! I hate going to the dentist, but everything about Manhattan Dental Design and Dr. Tchoi made it bearable … almost pleasant. The great thing about Dr. Tchoi is that he explains everything clearly. Also, he does the teeth cleaning himself, which seems to me to be important, since it seems it would help the dentist get to know your teeth. I need a lot of work done and he made a list for me that included the priorities and, importantly, the cost, so there are no surprises.

A WORD FROM YOUR DOCTOR

Dr. Ernest Tchoi, completed his undergraduate degree with a B.S. in Biochemistry at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. He received his Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Boston University’s Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Tchoi moved to New York City to pursue Post-Doctoral training and completed his residency in General Dentistry at Montefiore Medical Center. Originally from East Greenwich, Rhode Island, Dr. Tchoi comes from a family of dentists and from a young age, was exposed to the art of healing and dedication to the highest standards of care. Dr. Tchoi has a simple philosophy: treat every patient with compassion, professionalism, and a gentle touch. He is committed to providing comprehensive, quality dental care while making sure patients are informed and comfortable with their treatment plan. He maintains his studies with memberships in the American Dental Association, New York state Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Tchoi enjoys his free time cooking, fishing, tennis, and enjoying the beach with family and friends.
